remember the pilot was a Nigerian pilot and not chesley sullenberger who landed a big, full aeroplane on the river, when he knew the rate of descent wouldn't make it possible to get to the closest airport after both engines failed. I still remember his communication with ground, very calm, confident, when he requested coastguard to move to River Hudson with 155 Passengers. Just imagine such incident happened on Nigeria and plane flown by a Nigerian pilot
Nigerian Pilots are among the best in the world. Go and check from 1970's.

The best landing I have EVER got is from Nigeria Pilot just 5 years ago.

TravelRe: Canada Hype And Travel Rush: Here Are Things You Need To Know by Akolawole(m): 8:46am On Jan 11, 2021
Princewill1:
The high successes recorded by dubious politicians, fraudulent pastors and ponzi scheme operators in Nigeria are living proofs that Nigerians can be so gullible. We can easily be deceived. The astronomical hype on Canada is the latest deceit in town. Here are things you need to know before immigrating.

1. The list of richest Nigerians is filled with Nigerians living at home. You're more likely to make it into Forbes if you live in Nigeria. At least that's what the stat shows, whether people making into Forbes in Nigeria are engaging in corrupt practices is a story for another day. The odds of becoming a dollar billionaire favours those at home . No Diaspora Nigerian has ever made it into Forbes billionaire list.

2. There are more money to be made in a developing economy than in a developed economy. That's why as you're rushing out of the country, Lebanese, Indians and Chinese are rushing in. Only few will understand. You're sitting on the biggest market in Africa yet you haven't realize this but the Lebanese and the Indians knew this.

3. If you are the type who don't fancy working for others, it's much more easier to own a business in Nigeria than in Canada/US. Western countries were set up for the 99% populace to work for 1% elites. Their education systems were designed to produce workforce for the rat race. Not to create employers of labour.

4. It's stupidity to resign from a high-paying job in Nigeria in a bid to relocate to Canada/US. Your eyes will get clear up when you start facing the hard realities in Canada. Those who had made this mistake in the past are ashamed to come on social media to talk about it. The ones talking on Twitter are 'freshers' who just arrived.

5. If you want to secure 2nd passport for your kids, you don't necessarily need to immigrate to achieve this. There are other ways, one method is overseas child birth.

6. You're 5x more likely to be shot and rubbed in New York than in Lagos. Poor neighborhoods all over the world has more crime rates. The thing is, when you finally made it in Nigeria, you can move to high brow areas with lesser crime.

7. Nigerians are spending up to 8millions ($21k) and above to immigrate to Canada/US whereas an average canadian or American citizen can't boast of $10k in their bank A/C's. They live pay check to pay check.

8. Some Nigerians claims that they ain't relocating because of the money but because of good infrastructure, good health care system, value for their money etc. That's a lie! 98% of Nigerians who're eager to travel out are relocating because of economic reasons. There are good infrastructure, good health care system and value for money in countries like Kuwait, Russia, Brazil, South Korea, Chile etc but Nigerians ain't trooping there, indicating that their preference for Canada/US is purely based on economic reasons.

9. It's cheaper to live in Nigeria. Canada/US promises higher minimum wage but the system will still take it away from you. It's like giving you with one hand and taking from you with another. $2k (N760k) will pay for your one year rent of 2 bedrooms apartment in a good location in Nigeria but same amount will only fetch you one month rent of a match box apartment in Canada/US.

10. This is not to stop you from traveling out but to inform you on the true realities. Economic immigration should be left for lower or working class who're struggling or to young lads who wants to school abroad and thereafter further their career overseas. Not to deceive Nigerians already earning good in corporate offices in Nigeria to resign and relocate where they will be employed as security guards or to deceive business owners who's businesses are thriving in Nigeria to close down business and relocate. Don't let them deceive you with the hype. Money don't grow on trees anywhere in the world.
I agree with some of your points. For people to really understand your points, they need to live in both parts of the world to come and come to conclusion.

Yes, by now Naija ought to be closer to the league of sane countries where system allow everyone to thrive(within their capabilities) but we are far from that stage.

We will get there EVENTUALLY.

milkyworld:
I want to disagree with Deji but first I need sincere answers to these four questions

1. On what terms and conditions were those boys released and handed over to the government security officials?

2. If truly those kidnappers/bandits were paid to release those boys, haven't we indirectly created a nefarious kind of business for bandits/kidnappers?

3. What plans do the government have to capture those bandits/kidnappers involved in these crimes?

4. What is the punishment for kidnapping/banditry in Nigeria?

Sincere answers please...
Don't waste your time in reasoning with Deji and his cohorts!

The whole world was asking the government to do WHATEVER they can to get the boys out.

Whatever they can simply means whatever they can.

We were very very lucky these criminals were rounded up so so early only that the Army cannot act because of the safety of the boys. If this happens in Borno/Yobe axis and out boys were divided in tranches, it would have been a different ball game.

I can understand that we have created business for mad people. Surely, we will get around this soon.

What comes out of Nigeria vexes someone like me everyday. Even things people say to address issues. Your post like many I have been seeing shows lack of understanding. There is lack of intelligence even among us. This is why we are in the situation we are. We are here because many people don't just understand things. And when you don't understand things u don't enjoy things. We deserve our leaders as the popular saying goes.
I am not in katsina but I have been able to get an idea of what is happening over there. The bandits are cornered, there location with the kids are known, but the military can't go in like that. There is high risk of collateral damage. If only one kid is killed in the bid to rescue, we will be the same people condemning the government.
This case is quite different from the America rescue. Elements of surprise is no longer there. The bandits and military are literally looking at themselves, but the bandits know they have the kids as security. Cases like this takes, patience, skills, intelligence gathering and time
Fantastic piece and very well put.

TravelRe: Should I Invest In Nigeria Or Wait Until I Get A Permanent Stay In Abroad? by Akolawole(m): 4:42pm On Dec 14, 2020
Basalt:
Goodmorning Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am Basalt by name and I came to Germany last year(2019) October for my MSc studies with a little amount of Money and a partially borrowed block account from my inlaw (his money and my money).
On arrival in Germany, I took only a few courses and got a job outside my city and also got a mini-job. I did all my monthly expenses from my Mini job and used my main job to completely pay back my debt within a few months of arrival.

Now, that's not the discussion at hand.
I need advice especially from people who have lived abroad or have many years of experience in life.
My visa still counts till 2022 and I can even extend it if I don't finish my studies by then.
According to German policy, once you graduate from the University, you will be given 18 months to get a professional job or return back to your country.
Returning back to Nigeria is totally out of my plan at least for now because I came from a very poor family without any job connection and I am really enjoying Europe.
I plan to buy land or start building a house (I saved millions of naira and will even save more as time goes) but my friend who is also a student here discouraged me against that saying that my root is not yet fixed abroad that I should wait and continue investing in myself and undergoing professional training until I get permanent residency before investing. That I should always keep saving because it is not certain that I will get a professional job after graduation since my course is not in Information Technology which is currently booming in Germany. That even if I don't get a job, I can use the money to migrate to Canada or any other country of my choice.
He asked What if you invest the money now and don't get a job after graduation, what will you do after the 18 months of post graduation visa since you don't have any backup from home who will help you out financially.

What do you guys think. I need opinions
Its not an easy decision.

You are just one year in Europe. Thank God that you enter there legally.

Have you learn the language very well?

Have you study routes to permanent residency in Germany?

Things changes a lot even in western world. Do not bank on 18 months post graduate visa! That period go like smoke.

Please do your research very well.

God bless

HigherEd:
Lol I hope you guys would realize the truth before it becomes late.

The current system where universities fully depend on payouts from the government is unsustainable and would never make the universities competitive or valuable enough to industry. Especially in a country with a surging population yet depleting economy.

As part of comprehensive reform of the Nigerian state. The emphasis on higher education needs to be lowered. Not everyone should need to go to university to amount to anything meaningful in life. People who must go there by virtue of stellar academic records should be offered scholarships.

Why would the ministry of education train with subsidy 2000 zoology students across the nation and only 1% of them end up as zoologist or researchers in Zoology. While the rest end up in banks, telcos, and everyother place where a zoology degree is never ended. How many subsidized degrees yield return on Investment for the Nigerian state. E.. g Inter rel, Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry etc? Tbh only strategically important degrees ought to be free in Nigerian schools. E.g Medicine, Nursing, Civil engineering.

Lets focus on our economy and generate enough value for each Nigerian to be self sufficient enough to fund their own education and stop funding unsustainable projects like ASUU.

Very funny. There are so many "ise" or "eto" in the Bible. Even baba adeboye do "ise" for people. Do you know that baba adeboye once sent handkerchief to someone who was dead and the handkerchief was laid on the dead man to raise him up?

Are they not using anointing oil in your church for healing? Is that not "ise"?

Jesus used saliva and clay to heal someone.

Jesus asked them to fetch water and he turned it to wine.

Read 2Kings 13: 17 to 18 and you will see a good example of "ise" there.

Dividing of the red sea was also an "ise" grin
Well... You may be sincere but may be sincerely wrong.

1) I am not a member of RCCG but Pastor Adeboye is a general in the body of Christ. He will NEVER make a DOCTRINE on sending handkerchief every now and then.

In few instances you sited above are one-off situations which happened via leading of God. No Servants of God should make that a doctrine.

2) Anything Jesus Christ and his immediate lieutenants(Apostles) did NOT do, we cannot do it. Afterall, we called ourself Christians

It matters a lot.
Reason:
So many churches are reserviour for hell fire. Though they still shout Jesus, their Jesus maybe different from the one you innocently know. Their teachings and practices are at variance with biblical truth.

And of course, they allow you to go on with "life" after all, "once saved, forever save'. They allow all kinds of lifestyle, including indecent dressing, etc.

More so, they look the other way on the shortcomings of the brethren. No form of discipline.

The worst is that, the above had found its way into the Church of Christ - those preparing souls for the Kingdom. Most of our Pastors are after financial members. They do not care about what sought of job the brother/sister is doing provided he pays his tithe, gives bountiful offerings and support the church projects. Oh! that's a member in good standing!

May God help us.
Well put.

Fantastic!
