I like the OP attitude and the land will be a land of honey and milk for you. One step at a time, no need to rush..

To the rest defending the country that is currently in the list of every bad things that can happen to the world, well done o!

Do you even know that the average life span in Nigeria is 53? Nigeria is second in the list. https://www.statista.com/statistics/274521/countries-with-the-lowest-life-expectancy-worldwide/

Do you know that healthy living is staying in your home with no thinking of buying diesel to pump water?

We can go on. When people talk about correction, itā€™s not just flogging, itā€™s punishments. Itā€™s not always FEAR, itā€™s respect. Imagine a little girl not even up to 10 shouting at her mum like she can take care of herself if given the opportunity. Then the parent is scared to caution her cos she will be reported and arrested.

Thank you for refining my earlier statements. I believe you've accurately summarized our conversation regarding discipline and cultural values in Nigeria. The situation here is distinct. Despite the presence of Generations Z, A, and millennials, who introduce diverse behaviors, comparing the lack of respect among youth in the UK to that in Nigeria isn't something to be debating on. Even though there might be many disrespect among the younger generation, the contrast remains stark. In the UK, it's not uncommon to encounter incidents like teenage smoking on trains, talking back to parents. In Nigeria, however, such behavior still largely occurs discreetly due to our society's prevailing disapproval of it

I don't think discipline has anything to do with beating/flogging a child, we have that in Nigeria yet the rate of cultism particularly in low income neighborhoods is staggering. Can you say teenages are better behaved in Nigeria compared to the UK due to the training they recieved?

Nigerians need to unlearn the habit that beating a child equals disciplining the child.

Proverbs 13 24 Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.

Do you have a data of any children who grow up in foster care as a better person? If you do have please convince me. I can say, teenagers in Nigeria are better behaved than UK

My People i have few questions to ask.

Does anyone have information about the duration it takes to process a provisional license? I applied online, and after a week, I received a form in the mail which I promptly filled out and returned. However, it has been almost two weeks since then, and I haven't received any updates or news regarding the status of my application. I am in need of the provisional license, so any information or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, I have a query regarding driving my uncle's car. Is it possible for the insurance, M.O.T, and car registration to be in my name? I currently possess a valid Nigeria driver's license, which I believe I can use for another year until my full UK license is obtained.

Thank you.

Yes. Your uncle must add you to the car insurance before you can drive the car. I donā€™t know about the car registration but it can surely be changed to your name

I have come back once again to thank you for the plug.

Here's my timeline;

- Sent an email to both addresses on the 30th of May
- Got a response 3hrs later giving me an appointment for the 2nd of June. (Email was from London.gr@gvc24assist.eu) the other one is quite generic and even asked me to go through the website even though it isn't functioning properly.
- Put together an application with documents downloaded from the website within 2 days: https://uk-gr.gvcworld.eu/en/schedule-appointment
- Attended appointment on the 2nd of June. I was told I needed to pay in full for the trip and not just making a deposit payment. Completed the biometric appointment.
- Visa delivered on 16th of June.

Wishing prospective applicants the best.

I am glad it worked out. Enjoy your vacation grin grin

As usual, sentiment ruling over facts.

How is it setting the bar for immigrants because a few voices on this thread expressed a different view to the majority and pointed out abuses and excesses in a system that had otherwise been fair and working well, which directly led to the system being changed. But it is acceptable to denigrate others e.g. claiming most British are unskilled and don't go to university or calling someone an akata.

Tbh I don't know any second or third gen Nigerian immigrants who have identity crises. Most I see/know are doing very very well - financially and otherwise. Some choose to connect with their "roots", others are happy to stay away for various reasons. Home is where your heart is, not your roots.

I have been observing your comments for some time, and although I appreciate your inclusion of certain factual points, I believe it is essential to allow others to express their own truths. Stating that some individuals are abusing and exploiting the system may not be accurate since the UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) granted these individuals visas, and they made the necessary payments for those visas. Therefore, it is crucial to question where this alleged abuse come from. It seems as though Britain desires to have the best of both worlds, which is an unrealistic expectation. While I acknowledge that some individuals from my country can often be loud, I must disagree with your claim that they are mostly abusing the system

True, of course, people who don't have options will have to remain regardless. Not like there's a choice.

But I was zooming on those who have in-demand skills like Doctors, Nurses, Tech folks, etc. These are also the folks the UK is interested in. The UK was indeed a good option for these guys because of the easy entry routes but that was it. The Salary is low, the weather isn't so good, houses are small, limited and expensive and it takes so long to become a permanent resident. Moving it to 8 years makes other options more desirable.

Permanent Residence is an important deciding factor and even though many Countries may no offer Citizenship easily, they ensure the Skilled Immigrants are settled with at least PR. UK is moving the same PR to 8 years continous stay.

Canada, Australia, USA, New Zealand, Ireland are English-speaking Countries that come to mind. France, Germany, Poland, etc are there but have the language barrier.

The reason for this is too long to type. But if you put yourself in their shoes, you will find out that you would prefer the person tells you straight up than continuing to use signals you don't understand.

Saw this in one of the Africa Group I am and thought of sharing here.

Good evening guys,
This is an advise to all Nigerians here in UK be careful of what you say in public in mean what you discuss with your fellow Nigerian in public.
I was in a train going to new castle and beside me was a British young man and behind me was two Nigerian guys discussing about visa and sponsorship. They were actually talking with pidgin English. I was on my headphone as usual with no music on so I could hear everything but people will think Iā€™m listening to music.
The next three paragraphs gave me the shock of my life.

As this two guys were talking my eyes saw something I couldnā€™t imagine.
THE BRITISH MAN PLACED HIS PHONE ON RECORD. I couldnā€™t believe my eyes. I tried to signal the two guys to stop talking but they were adamant I even went as far as saying this out loud ( UNA GO JUST DEY TALK NONSENSE) just to distract the guys but NO. They kept talking.

Just after the two boys highlighted at Gateshead, the British man tapped me so I removed my headphone pretending I didnā€™t hear when he said excuse me until he tapped me. The man asked me. PLEASE WHAT IS THE MEANING OF ā€œUK THINK SAY I COME HERE COME READ? NA MONEY I COME FINDā€ this words were from those guyā€™s conversations. I knew because I listened.
So I answered and said to him. ā€œSIR IT MEANS THAT ā€œMY CURRENT FOCUS NOW IN UK IS TO READ AND NOT TO FIND MONEYā€ The man said OKAY. We both highlighted at monument and went our separate ways.

Few hours later I stepped into Mc Donaldā€™s to buy chips and chicken only to see this man in Mc Donaldā€™s. He was the Manager of that branch.
Imagine if I had explained the full meaning of what those guys said. Who know what would have been the faith of those Nigerians working in that place expecting a sponsorship from Mc Donaldā€™s.

Again I say to you all be wise and be careful what you say outside the comfort of your room. They might not look at you but their phones might capture it and when they make enquiries you will be surprised.

Once again mind what you say in public.
#copied.

I am wondering why people are taking P over someone salary. Yes, many people collect more than this and some collect lesser than this. This does not indicate that they have financial sense than you, so with any salary you receive, most important thing is your financial discipline. I believe that if you cant survive with little, you cant survive with more.

Let's not get overly emotional about this thing, many Nigerian's abused the dependent stuff. The number of sham marriages that happened will surprise you, the way people were adopting their neices and nephews is another one.

Worse still, the many content creators on social media and their numerous update played a role in the demonisation.

What is surprising me most is the numbers of Youtubers talking about moving to UK within 1 month of their stay. We dey do too much abeg. Asians do it but they are not loud like us.

They should reduce their LR time, time spent on a student visa should also count towards needed 5 yrs to ILR and they should also just make graduates able to remain without sponsorship

Dear ancestors in the house,

Good day.

I want to apply for car insurance and would like to know which is more cost-effective: whether to buy the insurance with my International driving permit or to first apply for a UK provisional license.

For the preliminary insurance searches, I was seeing annual cost of Ā£700 for a 2010 1.5L engine SUV (insurance group 17E, married, 30-40yrs). Seems quite high to me. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Tenks.

The quote you got is not wrong. Although it could be better. I paid Ā£970 for insurance on my first car in the Uk using my Nigeria drivers license. Same 2010, automatic . As people advised, use compare website

For automatic, it was pricey so I paid so much for tax which was 295 or285(canā€™t remember exact amount) but a colleague of mine bought his Toyota car(Manual )for less than Ā£2000 and he pays Ā£20 but with high insurance. He mentioned to me then that his insurance was like Ā£1400. I was shocked as mine was just Ā£900.

As they mentioned above, your insurance will keep on reducing as the years goes by

Please can you explain why I buy a Tesla and I won't pay Road Tax?

And Toyota Aygo.. what if I buy a Benz or Range-Rover Autobiography šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰šŸ˜

It depends on the type of car you drive. Presently, I pay Ā£30 on Benz and I have also paid Ā£285 on ford fiesta yearly before. I have a colleague that also pay Ā£20 on his Toyota car. So model and year of cars matters.

Please, if you have a 3-bedroom available for rent, kindly reach out to me.

I will advice you let one person come in first to kick the ground running and settle down for you guys before coming in with everyone, unless you have more money to put in airbnb. There is scarcity of accomodation going on presently in the UK. You guys may be lucky though but if you dont want to waste all your savings on airbnb, please plan accordingly. Wishing you well

If you want lower cost of living and to save more, choose scotland. If you want higher cost of living, choose England.

Scotland is cheaper than England even with the higher tax been paid in Scotland. Life is peaceful and more welcoming than England.
England is expensive but have more job opportunities than scotland. Tax is lesser than Scotland but it does not matter as you will spend it on something else anyways.

If you have kids, education is free early with more hrs in Scotland than England.
