Viruses:
To preserve your money the way it is: cash

To grow your money with the possibility of losing it: stock and shares.

Stock and shares is not for the faint hearted, you won't understand this until it happens. I opened stock and shares and under 2 months, almost £500 was gone, I withdrew the remaining.

For stock and shares, it is advisable that you should leave the investment for a minimum of 5 years. The expectation is that even if it goes down, it should recover and make gains in that time.
Thank you Bro. I appreciate your detailed response. Cheers!

It depends on your risk appetite. Cash ISAs are no different from normal savings accounts. Just that interest earned is tax free. However the interests rates are little but capital and interest are not at risk.

For stock and share ISA, Capital is at risk and you are likely to get lower than u invested but u stand a good chance of increased value of investment in the long run which can be very huge but u can even get lower than you invested over the long run (this past year was terrible for shares and funds).
Thank you for this enlightenment.

I opened mine with Barclays but opened the kids JISA with hargreaves Lansdown. I might move my ISA from Barclays to HL cos Barclays fees are not favourable in line with my current holdings at the moment.

I learnt moneybox is nice as well
Which is the best? Stock and share ISA or Cash ISA? I just want to use it save

First of all, there's nothing like MMR in Nigeria.
You mentioning it shows you've been getting information from a lot of foreign conspiracy theory groups that have nothing to do with Africa.

Second, the MMR vaccine in places where it's used, is one of the most effective vaccines that has contributed to the very low incidence of Measles, Mumps and Rubella in the countries where it's used. Most cases of the diseases they record there are among immigrants from poor countries in Asia and Africa (plus Nigeria), and people there who have refused to vaccinate their children.
Do you have kids? Let me answer you as a parent. There is MMR vaccines in Nigeria and its giving to kids at 15months. This vaccines shows the increase in autism and some other form of rubbish. Even the white introducing this are cutting corners on some vaccines that are not necessary. Parents can give their kids vaccines but they should ensure they make proper research before putting wrong vaccines into their kids blood stream
PS: I dont post for the sake of post.

This is wonderful, thanks a lot for this post, you just gave me comfort over my decision to open a investment ISA last which I currently put in £200 monthly for investment in aggresive funds and do not intend to touch. I have also been dilly dallying on opening a JISA for my kids not thinking that it can as well be a plan to fund their Uni fees. I am opening their JISAs right away. God bless you
Which bank did you open the ISA savings?

Good morning house, my husband just got a job in Leeds to resume in January. Because of funds , he plans to go first to settle down especially because of the house scarcity problem in the UK now and secondly because of funds needed for the whole relocation (we are a family of 4). He is saying that we would join him latest in 6months, but from friends I heard that once the principal leaves for the UK, it will take a year or so for them to consider the dependants to join the principal.(delayed visas etc). Please I need experienced info as this will help our decisions, Thank you.
You all should go together, collect your BRP then take the children back to Nigeria for 6 months so that your husband can settle and prepare the land for your coming. Also, I am assuming the job offer he got took care of the dependant visas?

I don't think you need to change your accent. However you need to understand that Nigerian English is a lot different from British English, from phrasing down to pronounciations.

i.e.
Nigerians: "They are telling me I did well!"
British: "They've said I did well"

or
Nigerians: "I have spent years doing retail banking in Nigeria"
British: "In Nigeria, I spent several years working in retail banking"

Thos are the areas of speech you need to be mindful of when trying to communicate. We Nigerians tend to talk fast as well, so that is another area to focus on if you want to be understood by your colleagues.
Nigerians don't talk fast. Hear Scottish or British accents; then you will know we are learning. They talk so much rubbish at a gigabyte

Told them I can drive both
You should not have told them you can drive both. Let’s try to be honest with our situation. Driving with automatic is away but manual needs to be learnt. You may come out tomorrow and tell them you can drive automatic well but manual is still in phase as you are still struggling with RHD. I wish you all the best.

Offers what Canada offers and x2 of UK with better weather wink
True. I guess it’s because of the distance. Australia is a great country too with perfect weather. It can be very expensive to live though

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well.

Please I need advise concerning my future plans, I’m torn between remaining in the uk or starting express entry to immigrate to Canada. Please between Canadian and UK which country would you advise ? & why

P/S I’m just a few months old in the uk currently pursuing my mba, I’m doing okay financially although not gotten sponsorship yet and I have more than 6 years experience in the operations & administrative industry

Please I really need help with this to avoid making a mistake I’ll regret.
If you can get a PR, Canada is the best bet. Getting sponsorship here is also good but if you dont like the job, you may not want to start the process all over again. But for Canada PR, you can change a job as you like once you have PR. And with UK situation now, things are becoming unstable. I know every economy in the world is suffering right now but I will still say you should try Canada

Comparing how a corrupt third world country functions to a first world does already say it all but still, downplaying others achievement just to make yourself feel good is a sign of envy unless you're extremely ignorant and unwilling to learn.

Btw, I hope you steady have that 60-70m to build and sell steady as an average Nigerian.
Can he even buy house in lekki, I bet he’s leaving in mowe.

dem.drag me.name enter the thread to info me that they borrow house after 6 months of been in the uk ! So I respond that we paid for our own houses in Najia worth over 100,000 pounds .
If you know how much total of deposit I paid for that house in cash, I bet your lineage has never seen or touch that type of money before. Oga rest before I change it for you. You started by quoting me on your stupid thread when you have been rejected by all the countries and you are dragging people down with you.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Akorkor(f): 2:19pm On Sep 23, 2022
@munamoqel, I don’t know the issue you have with people abroad but if I want to brag I should. I am 102% certain that I am more comfortable than you while living in Nigeria and I can also say I am of the average comfortable Nigeria living in Nigeria so to just be downplaying people achievements is a No no. That some people have mortgage here in the Uk doesn’t mean that they don’t have houses in Nigeria . So rest with your bad belle.

Congratulations...... YOUR equity starts building....... cheesy

When we talk about buying your own property, it's a worthwhile investment........ wink

Why do you want to keep paying your landlord's mortgage........

Buy your house in the UK, before you start building that house in Nigeria....... Why do you want to remain a tenant in the UK, but a landlord in Nigeria........ grin
Thank you smiley
