Let me address your earlier question about what the APC candidate intends to do differently.he will start by restoring respect back to the traditional system that obaseki bastardized,fixed the perennial flooding around Edo,fix roads,support farmers,invest in infrastructure

1) Propaganda: right from 2007-2008,Edo guber polls have always been decided on propaganda.in 2008-2012,it was godfatherism,in 2016 it was the bad antecedents of ize iyamu and 2020 was Edo no be lagos.in 2024,it seems Obaseki issues with the Oba and godfatherism is the trend.

2) Godfatherism: Oshiomhole won first and second term partly by claiming to fight godfatherism.in 2020,obaseki got reelected via Edo no be Lagos slogan.now,it will come to haunt him.

3) performance of the incumbent: the incumbent governor is pdp and his performance will go a long way in determining his candidate's fortunes come Sept 21 but majority of edolites score him abysmal and dislike him which may affect his party.the performance of the party at the centre APC will also factor in.this might play in favour of the Lp candidate Akpata.

4) Funding/campaigning: the party that usually campaigns more or penetrated more books and crannies campaigning usually have an edge.also the party that has the biggest warchest expect during the elections to buy voters have an edge.

5) labour party: Edo polls have always been a two party race except in 2023 when the lp defeated APC and pdp.over 70% of Lp party supporters are pro pdp and will certainly affect pdp chances the most thereby paving way for the APC.

6) Edo south: Edo south has about 45% of the voting population and will surely decide the polls with central being divided and north going APC.it decided the polls in 2016,2008 and 2020.since majority of obidients are based here especially in Benin metropolis of ikpoba okha,Egor and Oredo lgas,they might decide to go for Akpata or share votes.


7) personality of candidates: the pdp candidate ighodalo is well educated with sterling qualifications but nothing on ground in Edo to boast of despite being in government for 16 years.some accuse him of being culturally detached from Edo and not a homeboy.he has no grassroot structure and is a political novice.akpata played politics in NBA even riding to be their president the first non SAN to do so which shows his qualities.he was the biggest sponsor of obi campaign in Edo and has started executing several projects.despite being born outside Edo,he is culturally sound.his major issue is zoning as he isn't from the central.the APC candidate may not be too educated or eloquent but is politically sound,grassrooted,popular,streetwise and has a lot of projects executed even before becoming a senator.

party unity: it is almost impossible for a party to win an election if they are divided.if we trace the origins of why most parties lost elections,internal divisions will be at the frontburner.gej lost in 2015 because his party was divided, Tinubu won last year because the opposition was divided.apc was excluded in rivers in 2019 due to the fight between amechi and abe,excluded in zamfara because of divisions,lost Bauchi because majority of the party men were against the incumbent,lost adamawa because the Aisha camp opposed Bindowo.pdp lost bayelsa in 2019 due to division and sylva lost last year partly to divisions.pdp lost CRS last year because of the imoke/sandy camp beef.lp lost enugu due to division in voting.apc lost edo in 2020 partly due to divisions.
The legacy camp which makes 40% of Edo pdp is against ighodalo and there is a lot of discontent within obaseki camp.LP also has its own fair share of internal fights but the APC which initially seems divided has settled their issues and is waxing stronger...

No,obi own was clear.an overwhelming majority of the Edo masses supported obi even up till now.almost any Edo person you see last year was for obi so the politicians couldn't do anything.that is why Edo is known as obidients ss headquarters.
But in this case,no candidate has the masses but the APC candidate clearly has the advantage
