So I am doing a Strategy course and I want to tell a story about how Enviroments impact Strategy. When Uber came to Nigeria, they had a world class strategy. There was one flaw in their Strategy, it only worked "Ceteris Paribus" Unfortunately Nigerians are not normal.

So one of the strategies was to encourage New riders/Drivers to Sign up. Lets start with the riders. Whenever a new person signed up on Uber they gave a promo code. Typically this was between 1000, and 3000 naira. Sounds good right?

Nigerians, started multiple signups. So if I (hypotethical I please) wanted to go out, I would create a new account. Ride free. When I get there, I would create another and ride back. Also free.

Uber tried their best to mitigate this fraud, tried to limit it phone numbers. But like Oga Pantami said each one of us has 4 lines, even if you don’t. New sim 200. Free ride 2000. Net profit 1800. So they started locking phones to 3 acccounts per phone.

That was the riders o. Now to the drivers. First there was the signup bonus. Basically everytime you introduced someone to driving on Uber, Uber paid you 40,000 naira. I am not going to lie this was part of my motivation. I made money.

So first and foremost there was the issue where people would sign up and not drive. When you get the money you share them. Uber now said no problem. They would only pay after 20 trips.

People would register, drive the Trips, collect the Bonus and Stop Driving. You also know In Nigeria we had the fleet Option, so I would hire a driver, register him and on every driver, make 40k. All in all stress for Uber.

Final Strategy for today, I am tired. Incentives. Part of the plan was to undercut local taxis, so in Abuja an Airport to Town trip was between 4-5k. Its been like that for years, Uber came and said we will carry this route for 3500.

So to encourage Drivers, Uber now said okay. Please go, if you go rider will pay you 3500, we will then give you a matching bonus of 3500 making the Trip 7000.

Beloved, eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither had it entered the heart of Uber the kind of Fraud that happened next. Now you remember the earlier rider fraud? So a Driver, creates a new Rider = +2000 Requests himself to the airport, Cash trip, 3500 = -1500 paid =7000 Round Trip = 14000. An enterprising Fraudster can do 10 Roundtrips to the Airport in a day. That's 140,000. Without picking a single person. How much do you earn? Fink About it

Uber tried everything. Geofencing the Airport. Not allowing people request from the same spot, everything. They had to remove the incentives. Essentially what I am saying is Nigerians are special, factor that . Till another episode of 'Tales from Uber' Grace to you.

I agree with your analogy , but tell me that ex governor/politician that stole 100,000 Naira from her people and was able to return as little as 10 Naira? It is rare to find any and if there is any with a better will for her people, it will be difficult for him to get up there.

This term called "gender equality" shouldn't be encouraged. What is the comparison in the first place? That a woman wants to have equal rights with men or what! How can it be so? What rights does man have that women wish to have or should I ask what right a woman has that a man wish to have cos this gender thing shouldn't exist in the first place! Is it the quest for superiority? What's the competition all about? What happen to a life of purpose and it's sad to think we inferior to each other that would want to make us contest for superiority.

God created man for a reason, and then formed the woman for a reason and am pretty sure the two reasons are mutually exclusive and never equal, neither is one superior or inferior to the other. It's very simple, let's walk according to God's Will and reason for us rather than equate each other. I am not sure plan man and woman to fight for equality else context of term "weaker vessel" won't have suffice.

Pls, let's observe nations that have accepted this gender equality and examine them. The first thing you would notice is relationship values are lost and gone, where respect and love of God is taken for granted and thrown to the trash. Followed by decay in moral value where dignity, honor, family values among others are lost and the final phase which is lost societal and spiritual values are 6ft below. It's this same gender equality that lead to gay marriages in some part of the world. All these leads to a society where men are no longer men and women no longer helpers as God designed. It's really sad cos I wonder and ask, so where is God in all these?

Women no longer understand their roles and men who can't cope find solace in men like themselves. Marriages crashing at very alarming rate and relationships built on false foundations. Gender Equality isn't empowering women, it is killing the institution called FAMILY cos at the end of a day, when a woman believes she and her husband have equal rights, rights that only God can give, there is no way she wouldn't take it for granted and misbehave eventually that will breakup the marriage.

We need to understand our roles in life as Structured by God. When we do, we would realise that there isn't any need for this gender equality. It doesn't mean there won't be issues, it just that we will have a more Godly way of resolving them than proclaim a right that no man can give.

Men, let's us learn to appreciate the women as Christ loved the church and women, let's honor our men as God has designed it. He is God and he knows better. The Senate should go take a chill pill on the gender thing.

So much to explain but for me, this gender thing is just another tool of the devil to confuse the world and spoil the design of God thru mankind. We should not give in...

Not until I read this, I was trying to understand how this so called equality could lead to lesbianism and all that but clearly, as you pointed out, it is one of the major causes of same sex marriage and the high alarming rate of family/relationship break ups in the western world.

I see you really like differentiation, but i dont tink its necessary here,infact you can solve this problem without it if there is a solution,you were not given V as a function of t,neither were you given r as a function of t,so where are u going to apply this, i know i could have done sth with my average multiplying by two and subtracting the initial rate,but you dont even have one in this question,only if i take the initial rate as zero,tht i can have the final rate as average times 2(in that case u can continue), your use of differentiation will only come handy when it involves functions,but yours contained values.

Nice try. You are closer to solving this problem but not there yet. There is a flaw in your approach. It has to do with your rate of change
Using your formula
R1 = Volume out/ total time
This can be rewritten as
R1 = change in Volume/ change in time
R1 = change in V/ change in t
The above is simply average flow rate within two time frames. This is not what we need. We need to find the flow rate at any point in time t. We can achieve this by applying first principle of differentiation.
Which is: as the change in time approaches zero, we will get the flow rate at that point in time
R1 = change in V/ change in t
As change in t approaches zero, the above equation becomes
R1 = dV/dt
There you have it.
