Gabaski’s saved 3 penalties before the final amidst other amazing performances. Quite scary for any attacker in a knockout competition. Egypt trusted the man so much that they deliberately tried to stretch each knockout game into a shootout (since their opponents always played better in normal time).

But Mane’s reaction to that missed penalty and his decision to take the winning penalty is a whole new level of mental strength. Man was determined to show Gabaski who’s boss.

Another player who contributed massively to Senegal’s win was their captain, Koulibaly. He showed mental tenacity when he stepped up to take the first penalty in the shootout.

Considering that Gabaski had already made 4 penalty saves in the competition. Koulibaly’s penalty was a defining moment for Senegal. If he had missed, I bet every other Senegalese player would have missed. A true Captain.

This action of the governor raises a lot of questions that may appear like kill-joy but it is worth asking.

Are these gifts given from his pocket or the state is responsible? Can the governor go beyond this lottery style of giving and give Lagosians a general gift? Will he be kind enough to carry out his duties efficiently and also protect the lives of citizens?

The truth is we have reduced life to one of luck and this makes sense if it concerns two or more individuals but it is different where it concerns the governor and the people of the state. Government are not meant to give gifts but create a conducive environment for individuals to thrive.
