minicky:Do you have a talent you can develop which people can pay you for? There are many skills you can start learning but to become good at any you choose, you must be determined to succeed with it. |
Integrity is a personal decision taken by an individual no matter what the "system" might dictate to that person. Thanks @op for your elaborate response. |
Double post . |
I like answering questions like this from a personal standpoint. I think love is all that matters in striking a point between who should earn more ideally. A lady who will submit will do no matter how much she earns. I hate pretense. |
Quite sad indeed. For those who are doing well already, keep on doing good. |
This is a father and daughter relationship cum marriage not to talk of him being a perfectionist. What does she think she will achieve in such a Union? |
It is a weird fact that the sooner we are born, that is the moment we are set on a journey of competition. Hundreds if not thousands of babies are born at the same time and this is not lost on elderly ones. Some go as far as praying for the new born child in these words: “May you be above your equal.” There you have it. Competition is rife especially in places where opportunities are “limited”. As people work hard to get better, they unmistakably aim at the supposed active and passive rival with ideas ranging from fair to the devious. Competition is used as a template to implement all sorts of strategies against your supposed opponent. The question many usually ask is how to get ahead of the competition. That question have as many answers as any human subject that have become commonplace over the years. The fact is that competition is here to stay hence the need to answer the question. My simple take is to learn how to compete without competing. No one sets out without a desire to win. Even if the desire is not clearly expressed, somewhere in the inner circuits of the mind, there is that desire to succeed. The business world is one place where humans play to achieve both career and material goals. This inevitably leads to competition with early entrants or predecessors. Do you compete or just play by the side? Even the lesser path you choose is not lacking a rival either. I will like to buttress my earlier antidote using football. Football, love or hate it, is one of the most competitive and watched sports in the world. France was the overwhelming favourite going into the Euro 2016 final against Portugal. France had a good team coupled with a potent attack. Portugal had a decent team but had an attack almost reliant on the brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo. The final played out as predicted. France dominated but could not score a goal and Portugal had their major attempt at scoring during the extra time. Tragedy struck when Ronaldo was forced off the field with an injury and in came Ederson who was miles away from the kind of threat posed by Ronaldo. He scored the winning goal few minutes before the end of extra time. Portugal held on to their advantage due to the strength and good organization of their defence. They eventually won the Euros. Portugal had one way to compete and that was playing to the strength of their defence while finding a way to help the attack which was their weakest link. To compete without being in 'obvious' competition is to hold your strength above your weakness. Putting your area of strength into perspective is the best way to get over your fear of losing out. On social relations, this is quite tricky as our sense of self is safer when we realize that no two persons live the same kind of life. Contentment is what should be your focus. If you are unsatisfied with where you are now, then you have to think of how to get ahead. Rather than focus on that in your neighbour’s hand, it is more pleasing if you can enlist their help in doing that which is necessary to get what you want. Celebrating your wins and being thankful for what you have is a springboard to growing in strength and abundance. |
I am tempted to write this as a reaction to some insensitive comments about pastors. Another reason is the desire to affirm the importance of Christians contributing to the welfare of the priest/shepherd. The Levites who started the line of priest-hood are a veritable example for today’s discussion. They were mandated not to work and also not to own a portion of land. They were only given a share of the land of Israel. They and their descendants were subject to a life of basic living. Unfortunately, as it is with man and his nature, some deviated from the path of righteousness. The coming of Christ only strengthened the position of the priests. Jesus was not against men working but he made winning souls the major concern for his selected disciples. The case of the Seventy is a vital example. He instructed these men to go out there, preaching the word without taking any meal or element of sustenance along. His insistence was the fact that recipients of this good news will take care of their needs. Jesus recognized the possibility that humans could circumvent his teaching, thus, he warned against falling prey to the teachings of fake priests. One of his seminal teachings was on the difference between the shepherd and the hireling. The shepherd takes care of the flock (Christian congregants) while the hireling is only concerned with how much he can get from the people. The tradition of priests living off the contribution of congregants has carried on to the present. The early missionaries depended on the benevolent offerings of the people to fund their activities and indeed, we are beneficiaries of this earlier efforts. The question right now is where have we gone wrong? It is simply in our disposition to the persons that wield the mantle of the gospel. Some persons due to the activities of “hirelings” and religious charlatans have become abhorrent to the concept of taking care of the needs of the men of God. They see their need as a luxury rather than a means to obey the command of God. For all the lack you can point to, you possibly might get the solution you seek when you tend to the needs of your pastor. If you are so blessed that you have so much to give, then do not hesitate to give to your pastor. One thing you might not take into cognizance is the fact that members or persons in need will likely approach a priest for a help than a congregant. In focusing on the luxurious living of some men of God, we have forgotten that there are men toiling in places far beyond our imagination. While it is important that you tend to your pastor, do not hesitate to help a priest outside your denomination or environment. The guidance of the Holy Spirit is all you need. Taking care of God’s servants is one of the ways to honour his lordship. |
Really funny. She seems to be paying more attention to what really don't matter. |
The potential for corruption is the biggest problem here not the number of persons. If the governor is not using this opportunity to siphon money then I hold no challenge. The idea of a big public sector is not bad especially when it generates healthy return for the people. |
So sad that the devil left to finish the act on your own. Now you are set for a lifetime in prison. |
Obviously this is a new one. An Igbo guy getting married to Yoruba is not too common. A bad shot for the tribal war here and hopefully they have a long and fulfilled marriage. |
haymekus:I participated in just one camping activity before Nysc and I can tell you that it stands as one of the best experience in my life. Being an introvert is not a prison sentence. Put your best foot forward, participate in activities and you will likely enjoy it. You can easily grow confidence in such settings as you are surrounded by mainly strangers. Lastly, if you have got good roommates, then you will have a blissful experience. Be ready to enjoy the experience without being swayed by the challenges that are bound to come your way. |
I hold this statement in high esteem, the secret will eventually be known. It is best you establish trust before a partnership rather than in the process of living together. Be honest upfront as nothing kills trust/love faster than dishonesty. |
I just finished reading the arguments of a journalist and a lawyer before happening on this news. She was right in her judgement going by the arguments of both. This is not a case of political fix but one that talks about what is right. Let us not fault due process. In other news, content writing should not be a problem. Just a message to the number in my signature will help. Thanks. |
Content that sells your goods and services is not rocket science. You have to understand the need and desire of your targeted audience to truly produce the right content. I will offer you a real life example in order to help your understanding. Why should I prefer Oral B to Close-up toothpaste? The question above is simply a guide to asking the right question about your product in relation to your competition. Oral B and Close-up are different brands in the keenly contested mouth cleansing market. Customers are forced to make a choice and sometimes this is dependent on cost and access. If you are to write a winning content for your product, you have to write one that speaks to the need of your customer. Their need is not looking to the features to help them but rather the materials contained in the products. I will use the example of Oral B and Close-up to drive my point further. Oral B promises to make your teeth strong. Close-up is always touting it's potential to give you a fresh breath. The features of both products are different but they are hardly talked about in their adverts. If you are not sure of my point, here it is. If you want to talk about your product or service, tell how it will benefit the customer. If it is necessary to talk about the features, make sure you use the benefit as an additional information. |
Durhleepee:It is a personality trait which I have struggled to overcome. I counter my thoughts each time I think of the past with happy ones. I have the challenge of writing better than I talk but I have tried to improve on this aspect by reading to myself. I guess it helps me think faster when speaking as well as writing. I hope this helps. |
MP time to calm down. You can't be trumpeting finances and not have trophies to show. Don't play with fans emotion. |
Good idea. Sometimes a surprise like this make the occasion more beautiful and glamorous and above all, a rich display of culture and tradition. |
This is more like trophy chasing and you know what happens to winners. They celebrate for a while before a new challenger comes. Stop the chase and let her decide without pressure. |
May be it's time OP advise ladies to bring their own ring along for a proposal so as to solve this problem. |
Enjoy while it last. Obviously, the president's right should be enjoyed by all especially in a flawed democracy like ours. Buhari and his cohorts just have a way of making mockery of his staunch supporters. |
A sad situation. Philipines already got so many challenges to face and then this one. It is a really hard situation there I must admit. For the posters above, Philipines is not a corruption free society hence imagine the trauma. |
It is a wonderful news and I celebrate him heartily |
I guess our music industry is a goldmine. Currently bringing in some famous tourists. All the best for Nigeria. |

The Holy Spirit is the third of the Trinity which comprise God the father and God the son. The Holy Spirit was promised as a counsellor when Jesus was set to depart the earth for Heaven. The essence of the Holy Spirit and its operation in the life of any Christian is what necessitates the question above. The Holy Spirit's role in the life of a Christian is as important as the word of God. Without the word of God, a Christian lives without the understanding of what it means to live a Godly life. The Holy Spirit is a part of the Trinity and if a Christian pays much attention to the father and the son, then he/she is missing out on a vital relationship. The relevance of the Holy Spirit is as important as a teacher or a mentor in explaining a subject or showing a student the way. You will agree with me that no matter how brilliant a student is, he/she will do better when an instructor that understands them guides him/her. The Holy Spirit is more than an instructor. Philip and the story of the Ethiopian Eunuch establish this fact. Philip was placed on the path of the Ethiopian Eunuch as instructed by the Holy Spirit. He helped to teach the Ethiopian eunuch about Christ death and his resurrection. As a Christian, if you must grow in the knowledge of God, you must be willing to seek interpretation of the scripture from the Holy Spirit no matter your understanding of the language in which the scripture is written. The power of the Holy Spirit is duly expressed in our conscience and sub-conscious. Beyond understanding the dos and don’ts of Christianity, the Holy Spirit makes us realize the reason why living a righteous life is important. It is not a matter of too much arguments or trying to justify reality and its burdens but it is about fulfilling our role as Disciples of Christ in this world. The truth is that Christianity is beyond being ethically complaint. It is a call to grow beyond the ephemeral knowledge of this world and its operations. It is embracing the mystery of salvation and its prime place as a change agent in our lives and the world in general. The work of the Holy Spirit must not be underestimated especially in this time and as we head into a New Year. While some may treat New Year resolutions as trivial, I will encourage you to give the Holy Spirit a prime place in your life this year and onwards. When you do, then you will understand what abundant grace means |
