una no dey tire for dis forex trading that have rendered families useless.?

Hello googlepikin

Forex trading is not responsible for rendering any family useless. It is not the tool but the user of the tool that is responsible for the results surely.

I know of families that this particular tool has helped make financially free.

There is no compulsion, just an invitation. At least take a look before kicking it to the curb.

Best wishes.

Joel3:
let not shy away from the truth, everything is certainly wrong with Buhari & CBN forex policy. I know we don't want our currency to be devalue. but no where in the world where government fixed price against forex. how can CBN fixed a forex price? Nigeria is been cheated and some few persons are benefiting from this and we are talking about fighting corruption.

forex pricing should be a reflection of market force and not something any body can fixed.

Hello everyone.
I agree with Joel entirely.

I am a forex trader and I am more than clear in my mind that intervention has never worked. The Bank of Japan is a living testament to this. Every time they have intervened it has had nothing more than a short term effect. Eventually in not too long a time, market forces come to bare.

I would like to take the opportunity to invite Nigerians interested in trading to join me on my youtube channel to see the methodology I use to make my trading decisions.
It is clearly time for Nigerians to take more of an interest in the Forex markets with everything that is currently going on.

If anyone is interested, you can also join us on tradingview.com in the "Trading institutional order flow" chat room where we analyse the forex and other markets everyday.

FatherOF2:

Fidelity was overbloated pre PO. I think it has fallen quite well. Besides, if we confirm the market this week as being fully "Bullish", sentiments will change.
In a bullish market, prices tend to hold their resistance more and longer. When sentiments are negative during a bearish market, people will do anything just to get out, that is what breaches resistance. Right now the last drop in Fidelity's moving average is less than its worst moving average drop in last 3months. That is a good sign.

Surely u mean support and not resistance

Hey fellas. Thought i'd share this little research i've done on WAPCO. Enjoy it, i did.

LAFARGE WAPCO (New name from Feb 2008)
Established 1959, Listed on the NSE Feb 1959 under Building materials sector
MD-Mr George Lourandous (Greek fella)- This guy was former DMD/Chief operating officer of AshakaCem
Yr end: DEC 31ST
Registrars: City Securities
Outstanding Shares:  3,001,600,004.
Owned by Larfarge France when Larfarge bought Blue Circle UK on 1st July 2001. (Blue Cricle were the former owners). So u could say WAPCO came with the deal.( Lafarge France also own Ashaka Cement by the way.). Lafarge are the world’s largest cement producers and are in the top 3 of each sub-sector of the building materials sector in the world.

Share holding structure:
Foreign investor holding company- Lafarge France through the following:
AIC UK-36.481%
AIC NIGERIA-23.041%
Lafarge Nigeria-0.480%
Total % owned by Lafarge: 60.002%
Other Share holders:
O’dua group of companies-11.765%
Nigerian Public- 28.233%
Its interesting that the Chairman of the board as at 2005 owned 0 shares in WAPCO until yr end when he bought a whole 25,000 (yes 25,000 units only)

Subsidiaries: Portland paints & Product Nig. Ltd., Portland Electrical repairs Ltd., and Nigeria Kraft Bags ltd.

Cement plants in Ewekoro(established 1960, upgraded August 2003) and Sagamu ( established in 1978) in Ogun State.
As at the end of 2005 both plants had a combined capacity of 2.1 metric tonnes (1.32 metric tonnes from ewekoro, the larger of the 2).

Turnover:
2001 13,410,247,000
2002 12,459,539,000
2003 13,729,548,000
2004 22,095,823,000
2005 26,626,109,000 (this is where u start to see the effect of the upgraded ewekoro plant on turnover)
2006 39,647,000,000
2007 38,665,000,000
Turnover increased from 9.52billion in 1Q 2007 to 11.03billion in 1Q 2008

Point to note here is in 2007, WAPCO had 75 days in total that production was suspended due to gas disruptions – an unresolved problem, a microcosm of the general power problem in Naija. An estimated 350kilo tonnes lost in 2007

PBT:
2001 1,079,903,000
2002 21,512,000million (eventually made a loss before tax for this yr because of an exceptional item of 1,132,896,000. Net operating loss
after exceptional item was 1,111,384,000 for 2002)
2003 loss of 3,070,884,000
2004 loss of 1,711,977,000 (total loss before tax was 3,159,346,000 because of another exceptional item)
2005 3,194,635,000 (from here the dividends of the new plant becoming apparent)
2006 11,856,000,000
2007 12,536,000,000

PAT:
2001 980,266,000
2002 loss of 1,392,050,000
2003 loss of 3,174,956,000
2004 loss of 3,401,129,000
2005 2,763,164,000
2006 10,678,000,000
2007 10,679,000,000 (PAT was N10,946,000,000 in 3Q 07 but WAPCO made a loss in 4Q 07. This continued into 2008 as the
PAT fell by 35% in 1Q 2008 from 2.64billion in 1Q 2007 to 1.95billion in 1Q 2008. This worries me as turnover increased in 1Q 08 but PAT went down for the same period. That suggests to me that the cost of production and or distribution has increased of late.

Highlights:
1.As at half year june 2007 Long term debt stood at N7.9billion (current estimates are about N5billion, AGM is in May 2008)
2.Planned to add 300kilo tonnes capacity in 2007 but plans stalled, not expected to happen earlier than 3Q 2008 now.

3.Multiple factors put the company’s future in doubt:
-the coming on stream of several other compatitiors, notably the Dangote group (BCC (900,000 tonnes/yr),OBAJANA with 4.7Metric tonnes in kogi, its ibese Ogun state plant with 2.3 metric tonnes, its odukpani plant in Cross river with 2.3metric tonnes, a dangote group total of  11.2metric tonnes compared to WAPCO’s 2.1metric tonnes from its Ewekoro and Sagamu plants). In 2005, a yr after BCC came back online for example, BCC cornered 8% of the entire cement market from a position in 2004 where they had no functioning plant in 2004.(turnover for BCC in 2004 was 0!!)

Remember that competition in the Cement market is mostly region based due to the high costs of production and distribution ie WAPCO now has competition in the South West from Dangote as Dangote now has a cement plant in Ogun state like WAPCO. Dangote is in 2 other regions ie middlebelt competing through BCC and Obajana against CCNN and possibly Ashaka Cement.

The FGN also ordered the reopening of a cement baging plant in Ibeto Portharcourt mid last yr as well, adding to the proliferation of
New cement manufacturing companies in several parts of the country.

WAPCO is expected to gradually lose the most market share to the dangote group in the future and may lose less to the other cement companies.

4.A meeting with foreign fund managers Renaissance Capital, WAPCO management admitted the possibility of a shrinkage in the company’s lime stone reserve following a feasibility study conducted by WAPCO that showed that about 50% of its limestone deposit was underwater. Management says there is a 50-50 chance that the impaired limestone cannot be used for cement production. According to them this may lead to significant limitation to medium term capacity expansion, the key driving element of the company’s growth. I wrote above that the company’s planned expansion by 300 kilo tonnes has been delayed for a yr now. – Rennaissance Capital Research portal.

Aktopgun, am not stepping on your toe here!!!          Am new to investment world though but I think this candle chart does not belong to the forum as it can cuase panic selling
among new investors who believe the candle is 100% reliable. Thank God you know it has been around for ages that means one should not take it as ULTIMATE future teller.
What it does best is to manipulate investors by dictating the stock performance, and depress the stock market as well. Why is it that some forum members both here and the other side do not want you to shine candle on particular stock they are holding?  Ever thought of it?  I guess all that followed the candle chart got their finger burned as well as as myself. The truth be sey, you be one of the most intelligent gurus here and there. So i for like make you dey send the candle to those who want am as PM, and make you continue to help and advice the new comer base on experience and fundamental analyse like you dey do before before.

Just my opinion sha.

What the

I think it is not really wise to comment on stuff u know little about. It will only serve to expose the deficiency's in your opinions.

How u can equate the fact that candle stick charting has being around for ages to mean it is not "an utimate future teller" is beyond me.

Which method do u know that is? Please share.

You need to do a little more learning on it to make such assumptions and comments and not base your sole argument on the fact that u or anyone else "got burnt" using it. So because u lost money using it that means it doesn't work?  You've gotto be joking.I know u are smarter than that. C'mon.

If a "new investor" here, after thousands and thousands of posts here still doesn't know enough about using tools and information to make investment decisions then maybe investing in the stock market isn't for him or her. The charts i post aren't meant for everyone, they will mean nothing to u if u do not understand their use.

I have NEVER adviced any one to make buys or sells based on only candle stick charts. I talk about what I would do each time i post and even then caveats are applied. I do not make investment decisions for u or anyone else. Its not my business.

Neither is it my concern u lost money because u followed candles. I wish u would learn to do your own analysis yourself so u could make better investment decisions but something tells me even then u will still lose money as we all do even on the soundest of analysis.
The stock market is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Don't treat it as one.

I won't even begin to talk about others who unlike you who have viewed the charts posted, used the info therein to add to their analysis and made money from their investments. I guess they were wrong weren't they.  wink wink

Also if the method of candle stick charting serves to "skew" the view of investors and cause "panic selling" maybe its responsible for the current market crash in the western markets. Sure u know that isnt the case. Don't make comments like that because they are essentially baseless.

I don't think u are in a position to tell me what and what not to post either. Simply ignore the posts u do not like so u don't start making unfounded assumptions of any particular method.

By the way i use Technical analysis as a whole and candlestick charting is but a small part of that. I am also quite adept at analysing companies I am interested in.

Posting here for u to lay aspersions on my person is of secondary concern to me.

If the candle chart is as good as you claimed, why is your portfolio on RED?
wouldn't you have seen the bear coming? I believe the candle chart skews the view on stock. And it can be used to manipulate investors easily by dictating the stock market.

Just my opinion sha.

"As good as i claim"? Whats that about?

I claim nothing. Candle stick charting has been around for the last 2,000yrs so i cant claim anything, it does that all by itself i think.

What kind of statemment is "how come i didn't see the bears coming?" Did u? If u did pls share ur knowledge.

I had always thought this company was very good but for me it didn't really stand up to closer research.

Looking at their Profit margins, they are erratic at best and even on the poor performance side at times. They may be losing ground to competitiors or companies are just buying their own stuff instead of leasing.

Management for me not too good at deploying their capital going by the ROE either.

They did do well in the 3Q '07 and they have added the proceeds from their last P.O in 2006 to their bottom line in 2007 so i think the money is beginning to yield results

The other good thing they have going for them is that they are the only ones listed in their sector on the NSE ie the Leasing sector.

The choice is yours fellas and i hope this little research helps u all in making ur decisions but me personally, i will be holding off on them for now cuz i don't think they are as fundamentally sound as i had thought.

happy investing.

FatherOF2:

If you remember well. I was made a challenge to it sometime ago. Its good alright. But its skews your perspective in looking at the real direction of where a stock is heading.
When a profittaker attacks today, candle will tell you by close of the day, and many will react next day. But that may not be the true picture.
Its like embarking on a journey. You may have a blown tyre or something, but you'll still change it and make your way to your destination.
For me overtime, i have averaged short term to between 0-3months(sometimes a little more or less), within this time, a good stock must act. That is short term. But the wan when traffic light go dey change from red to green to yellow daily, that na ULTRA ULTRA SHORT TERM. I think i prefer to sleep well on a daily basis. At best if you want to have a view of stock, give it like 2weeks to understand its behaviour particularly if you were well positioned from the start.

cheesy cheesy. What challenge might that be FOF2?

I do not see how candle stick charting skews the view on any stock investment actually, if anything it makes it clearer. U may want to learn to use it sometime. wink

Understanding the tenets of the whole of TA should inform the investors decision and not one indicator as i am sure u are aware (or at least i hope u are). It is always advised to base decisions on at least 3 or 4 indicators and if u don't like a particular indicator that shouldn't make it bad or unusable should it?

I do not think it is necessary to go into the benefits of this particular tool but its there for all to see.

As Tesco says "every little helps" and in the case of candle stick charting it is not even a small help sef!

By the way, its good to be back.
