@ Pumping, AKTopgun, windywendy, yodiyokun and all,

What do you advice I do with my Staco, I get am plenty with loan at 17% p.a I even get small for my cico portfolio, that one na my money so no shaking.

Please I strongly need your advice oh.
@jide

omo, thats steep! lets see, u could try ask ur broker to sell it at a discount if u cant wait till post TS(hope u can keep small profit but that depends on ur entry price)

if u are willing to wait and can service the loan while u wait then by all means do. i have STACO with a projected PE of 27x, not bad for the insurance sector. so it may be a good thing to wait but remember as its been said here several times, the insurance sector is shrouded in secrecy on their figures.

Hello guys,

Av got loose N200,000 to invest in stock and hope to get returns in the next 6months. How much do think i can make during that period if i invest and can any credible stockbroker give me analysis on how i can go about that?
hey man. howz it going.

i doubt u'all find any stockbrokers here. We are all civilians here as far as i know but have a lot of silent readers that may include the breed of brokers.
What u may find though is views on them aplenty. especially issues fellas are having with them. cheesy

on how much u could make in 6 months, it depends on what u want but u are in bear territory for now on the NSE.

DEALING RESEARCH
Today was a sellers market as huge quantum of buy activities pushed several stocks up. Many stocks traded at the highest
price for the day and a handful closed with maximum price appreciation of 5%; this led to a further 220 basis points rise of
the NSE All-Share Index.
Insurance stocks were generally unavailable as the hold-back from investors and speculators continued. As a result of this,
most insurance stocks traded less volumes than in recent sessions. Today, all other insurance stocks booked about 5%
appreciation except for Crusader Insurance, Niger Insurance and Prestige Insurance. With the expectation of more price
gains, there appears to be no end in sight for the bull run.
The banking sector also enjoying the market trend, saw First Bank close with unsatisfied bids at the highest price possible for
the day, while a market maker prevented Union Bank from sliding below the N45 mark, closing on bid a little above this
price. GTB went up by 1.6% despite the fact that huge volumes were traded. Zenith Bank, Afribank and FCMB were the only
price losers in the sector shedding 1.9%, 0.8% and 0.5% respectively.
Japaul Oil traded for most part of the session at the maximum price for the day but as offers came in unabated, the spread
dropped by 1.8%. C&I Leasing also recorded a trading pattern similar to that of Japaul Oil but closed on a flat note.
Transcorp, also enjoying a good run from speculative interests, topped the list of most traded stocks with an excess of 110
million units exchanging hands and this did not prevent it from closing with unfilled bids at maximum price.
We expect the market to remain bullish for the rest of the week.
The NSE All-Share Index continued on its southward path dropping 16 basis points at the close of business today, as result of
profit-taking activities of speculators.
ABC Transport closed with an appreciation of 3.7%, although it was visibly shaken by overwhelming offers earlier in the
session, but unwavering speculative interest ensured it closed up by the close of the market. AG Leventis gave in to offers
during the session after its rally was threatened yesterday by speculators and investors seeking to lock-in profits; it shed 5%
at the close of the day.Japaul started with a low tempo, but continuous and gradual purchases saw it close at its maximum price for the day with
unfilled bids. C&I Leasing remained at the N15 price band with speculative re-entries saving it from losing more than 1.9%.
Costain was hit today by a barrage of offers momentarily sending it 5% down, but unwavering interest of investors and
speculators ensured the offers were fully mopped up and it closed at the upper 5% band for the third consecutive day this
week. DN Meyer and Berger Paints appear to have found support at their current price closing with unsatisfied bids at
maximum price.
In the food and beverages sector, Dangote Sugar led price gainers in the sector with a 5% upswing. Dangote Flour, however
had a wave of profit -taking making it drop by 4.5% from its price. 7-UP despite minute offers, dropped 3.1% and Nestle
closed on a near offer with a 5% dip in its price.
The banking sector remained dull, recording more declines than advances. Fidelity Bank and Unity Bank both bagged 2.7%
and 2.2% respectively in price appreciations. Diamond Bank closed the day with a marginal dip, while Afribank and Zenith
Bank lost maximum points for the sector as they shed 3.5% and 1.8% respectively owing entirely to the dictates of market
forces.
The insurance sector in the same vein recorded a higher number of declines. UNIC, Royal Exchange and Consolidated
Hallmark Insurance recorded appreciations in the range of 5%. Equity Assurance, Lasaco, Sovereign Trust Insurance had
more sellers than buyers, thus; recording price depreciations in excess of 4%.
It is possible that the market will continue to trade sideways for remaining sessions this week.
Una dey see this NSE and their yeye results. such conflicting gist doesnt help at all. haba

i no wan talk before as i noticed that it lost 5% when i checked on the NSE site earlier in the day only for the figures to be switched around saying it gained 5%. this is the second report i am seeing showing it lost 5% but the NSE website still says it gained 5%. what gives?  huh huh

i am weary of the nse though so i would wait till tomorrow.

i am beginning to observe a trend on the Market u know. been looking at numerous charts daily and the NSE 5% law may be the reason for some alterations in expression and interpretation of patterns u know. instead of going up or dropping the next day, the price wont just move or change by comething like 0.02kobo. and then drop or increase the 3rd day or so even though the pattern was formed earlier. Very interesting.

Quite correct but the buying pressure was more than the selling pressure today and hence the closing price was the same as the high of today. In a few more days the sellers  will definitely out-do  the buyers and we begin to see the much feared downward slide.
no doubt.
but in an uptrend the selling pressure should take pre-eminence to warn investors. if it were in a downtrend then the buying pressure would take pre-eminence indicating a possible end to the downtrend.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 6:24pm On Mar 12, 2008
RoughCut:
This is a classic example of a Dragon fly doji(Dragongly) sellers dominated trading and drove the the prices lower during the trading session as low as N61.73 but by the end of the session the buyers resurfaced and pushed the price back to the high of  N68.21. You can see from the charts that the high is exactly the same as the closing. The long lower shadow  is evidence there is buying pressure but the low of N61.73 tells you that there are still plenty of sellers looming as you can see from the trade volumes today. The long black candlestick signals a potential bearish reversal.

RSI is 89.53 definitely OVERSOLD. If the sellers that are lurking overpower the buyers tomorrow you can gues what's going to happen to the stock

The closing price is well above the upper Bollinger Band  of  N65.55 so in a few more days you can expect a downside.
@roughcut

pls allow me to explain something here. U see with the dragonfly doji and any other candle pattern, the preceeding trend is very important and affects the interpretation. U see with an uptrend showing a dragonfly doji, its not a good thing at all and is interpreted as profit takers descending on the stock, hence the long shadow. this would take pre-eminence over any renewed buying that may have occured today
U are quite correct about it being a bearish reversal pattern but this pattern after a long uptrend shows selling pressure increasing.
As u said a reversal is imminent but i have been wrong before, plenty sef  grin grin grin grin

@Aktopgun,

How are you today bros & how's Tobe? The hurricane that blew these past few days has not allowed the camaraderie this thread has been noted for.

We have the year end of several banks in March - June, so what kind of result will they declare in view of the CBN directive of Dec year end for all banks?

Thanks.
my understanding of it is that the banks are affected to varying degrees. some positively, some relative to their counterparts, not so positively eg some will be reporting 9 month results in dec, others will be reporting results for longer periods, making their earnings all that much more cuz its over a longer time frame.

i think proshare might have a list of the breakdown in a piece they did, not sure

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by aktopgun(m): 9:22am On Mar 12, 2008
@ risky

May & Baker

i cant show the pictorials here cuz i'm at work but if u check it on Nigeriansecurities u will see three red candles for the last 3 market days, each one opening at the closing price of the previous day and closing lower than the previous day's close in a stairway kind of pattern - this is called the identical three crows pattern, a very bearish pattern indicating some kind of sell of in the short term. It will drop some more and u can pick up more if u like cuz unless there's some news about may and baker we don't know yet, it is still a good company. dont have my spreadsheet so cant quote the fundamentals to u.
All the other indicators are also trending downwards.

i would wait to see some positivity before buying if u havent bought already cuz this one may have a little way to go yet.

Do i need to empty the caveat for u risky? grin
