That s the most bullshit story I ve heard all day. No insult intended o. The loudness of your fart depends of how much air is trapped inside you and the smell depends on what food you have been filling your tummy with. Nothing to do with strength.

OP if that was the case, some women go become yoko zunas then cos some women fart smell and loud pass some men fart oooo, it can clear a square mile x
Food / Re: What Are The Health Effects Of Eating Expired Or Spoiled Food To Human Body by akuji: 3:28pm On Aug 22, 2013
Depending on the type of food and how far gone it is into expiry or spoilness (if that s a word).
Some foods are ok for a couple of days after its official expiry date, others release harmful toxins becos the chemicals used to preserve it has run out or depleted. Some, especially fresh food, will give you food poisoning if they look very spoilt and rotten. Op this ur question is one kind sef...r u picking ur food from dustbin? To be honest, if the food looks spoilt and rotten and smells bad then you should already know not to eat it. Doesnt really need a medical head to know that. Your body is a temple not a dustbin. Hope this helps. Peace out

Family / Re: Mature Advice Needed... by akuji: 3:08pm On Aug 22, 2013
Firstly I don't see a definite future in ur relationship. From the way you talk about her, it sounds like you two have been together for so long you have become use to each other...the passion is no longer there. Plus u need to be with someone that has similar (not necessarily the same) vision as you.
As for relocating, you can shuttle back and forth between Canada and Nig if you have the means to...you are a grown man...sort out ur nysc first then decide what u really want to do. Do u have a job in Nigera? What are your prospects in both countries...who is going to feed u in nigeria or will you add extra strain to your mother. Consider whether living in Canada for a few years and finding ur feet (if u have a good job tho)...once u save up money, you can go and start a business in Nig. This is if u don't have a well paying job already in Nig after nysc. Cos if you do, then just go to canada for holidays.
You can only live where your heart feels most comfortable living. Don't force yourself to live somewhere becos of family, or a "I guess it's going good" type of relationship. Don't live your life for anyone.
The question is what do you really want and where do I see myself in 5-10years. If u can answer this sincerely, then you are 90% there. Goodluck

How can he not see clearly even if it was raining. Does he not have wipers on the bus or headlights if it was foggy. Our drivers are so incompetent. There is no regulated driver learning method. Anyone can just get up and buy a licence and 10yeara down the line when faced with a very unfamiliar terrain, become confused as to how to handle it due to improper driving skills. The dangerous roads doesn't help. All this and more add to a very deadly recipe. May their souls find peace in The Lord sha. My condolences to their families x

@ofala...I know majority of the masses have good intentions, but with the people at the top welding the swords of power and change, how can we ever change things...we have been saying the same thing since1960 and we just seem to be going round in circles. I really don't know what we can do...we certainly need a total overhaul. As you can see from the post,...31 out of 30something governors are under investigation. That's more than 90 percent. I would not want us to resort to blood shed like Egypt in order to overthrow certain ppl but we really have to find a way because when one steps down, another money well steps into their place. Everyone wants their turn at the pits of power but no one wants to use that power to better the nation. I weep for my country.

@Yoshi...nna Biko don't smash your computer sweetie...as economy dey so, we will have to save for another 5yrs to buy another one. The situation is terribly bad and until the citizens get their heads out of the sand and stand up vehemently against the issues, it will continue to go on. Ignorance isn't the way forward...the poor is getting poorer whilst the rich is getting fatter and richer. Which way Nigeria!!!

Politics / Nigeria, One Of The Worst Corrupt Countries!!!!! by akuji: 10:28pm On Aug 17, 2013
Nigeria is not quite the most corrupt country on earth. But according to Transparency International, which monitors international financial corruption, it is not far off — coming a shameful 172nd worst among the 215 nations surveyed.
Only countries as dysfunctional, derelict and downright dangerous as Haiti or the Congo are more corrupt.
In theory, Nigeria’s 170 million-strong population should be prospering in a country that in recent years has launched four satellites into space and now has a burgeoning space programme.

Moreover, Nigeria is sitting on crude oil reserves estimated at 35 billion barrels (enough to fuel the entire world for more than a year), not to mention 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
It also manages to pay its legislators the highest salaries in the world, with a basic wage of £122,000, nearly double what British MPs earn and many hundreds of times that of the country’s ordinary citizens.

No wonder the ruling elite can afford luxury homes in London or Paris, and top-end cars that, across West Africa, have led to the sobriquet ‘Wabenzi’, or people of the Mercedes-Benz.
Yet 70 per cent of Nigerians live below the poverty line of £1.29 a day, struggling with a failing infrastructure and chronic fuel shortages because of a lack of petrol refining capacity, even though their country produces more crude oil than Texas.
And that poverty is not for want of assistance from the wider world.

Since gaining its independence in 1960, Nigeria has received $400 billion (£257 billion) in aid — six times what the U.S. pumped into reconstructing the whole of Western Europe after World War II.
Nigeria suffers from what economists call the ‘resource curse’ — the paradox that developing countries with an abundance of natural reserves tend to enjoy worse economic growth than countries without minerals and fuels.

The huge flow of oil wealth means the government does not rely on taxpayers for its income, so does not have to answer to the people — a situation that fosters rampant corruption and economic sclerosis because there is no investment in infrastructure as the country’s leaders cream off its wealth.
Corruption in Nigeria is endemic — from parents bribing teachers to get hold of exam papers for their children through clerks handed ‘dash’ money to get round the country’s stifling bureaucracy to policemen taking money for turning a blind eye.
It is at its most blatant, perhaps, in the oil industry, where 136 million barrels of crude oil worth $11 billion (£7.79 billion) were illegally siphoned off in just two years from 2009 to 2011, while hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies were given to fuel merchants to deliver petrol that never materialised.
Whether the country is ruled by civilians or soldiers, who invariably proclaim their burning desire to eradicate civilian corruption, it makes absolutely no difference.

The military ruled Nigeria between 1966 and 1979 and from 1983 to 1999, but if anything, corruption was worse when they were in charge since they had a habit of killing anyone threatening to expose them.
It is estimated that since 1960, about $380 billion (£245 billion) of government money has been stolen — almost the total sum Nigeria has received in foreign aid.
And that even when successive governments attempt to recover the stolen money, much of this is looted again.

In essence, 80 per cent of the country’s substantial oil revenues go to the government, which disburses cash to individual governors and hundreds of their cronies, so effectively these huge sums remain in the hands of a mere 1 per cent of the Nigerian population.

Political power is universally regarded as a chance to reap the fortunes of office by the ruling elite and its families and tribes.
The most egregious example was President Sani Abacha, a military dictator who ruled in the Nineties and accrued a staggering $4 billion (£2.58 billion) fortune by the time he died of a heart attack while in bed with two Indian prostitutes at his palace in the nation’s capital, Abuja, in 1998. Abacha’s business associates did nicely, too — one of them deposited £122 million in a Jersey offshore account after selling Nigerian army trucks for five times their worth.

Public office is so lucrative that people will kill to get it. Nigeria has 36 state governors, 31 of whom are under federal investigation for corruption.
In one of the smallest states, a candidate for the governorship occupied by one Ayo Fayose received texts signed by the ‘Fayose M Squad’ — and it was clear the ‘M’ was for ‘Murder’ when they stabbed and bludgeoned a third candidate to death in his own bed.
By the end of its term of office, the British Government will have handed over £1 billion in aid to Nigeria.
Given the appalling levels of corruption in that nation, this largesse is utterly sickening — for the money will only be recycled into bank accounts in the Channel Islands or Switzerland.
Frankly, we might as well flush our cash away or burn it for all the good it’s doing for ordinary Nigerians.

I don't know why guys think you need a PHD to woo a girl. Just go up to her and say "hello"...and then say whatever comes naturally to you. If you try to hard, the girl will prolly not give you time of day. Do let act aggressively, be casual and chilled, don't try too hard, and smile. If she turns round and sees what she likes...you are already half way there.

And none this "excuse me...I saw you and would like to know you" or "Excuse me, I saw you and fell in live with you" rubbish.

Career / Re: I Finished With A 2-1...do I Need A Masters Degree? by akuji: 2:07pm On Jul 27, 2013
UK Guide but I'm sure it applies universally

Oil and gas engineers are responsible for making sure that oil or gas surfaces from reservoirs safely and efficiently.

Oil and gas engineers are heavily involved with every stage in the process which results in the extraction of oil and gas from reservoirs. They may be primarily involved in just one area of the process but will need to retain an awareness of all stages at all times. Typical responsibilities include calculating and creating plans which show the locations in which the most oil and gas can be extracted, controlling one or several wells, and ensuring that health and safety regulations are met at all times. Oil and gas engineers will need to use their knowledge of petrophysics to ensure that drilling operations are conducted accurately and efficiently.

They will be expected to draw upon their mathematical and scientific knowledge at all times but will also need to be able to retain a broad perspective throughout each project. They will need to adopt supervisory roles and managerial roles at different stages of the process. Engineering is an industry which employs people from all backgrounds and cultures and both men and women find roles in engineering particularly rewarding.
Salary

Engineering is an industry which generally pays well and positions in oil and gas engineering are no exception. Starting salaries may be as high as £35,000, although they are more likely to be around the £30,000 mark. Engineers working for large, multinational companies are likely to earn significantly more than those working for smaller companies.

After several years in the role, individuals can expect their salaries to increase to between £50,000 and £70,000. Oil and gas engineers who take on managerial responsibilities on large projects may earn in excess of £90,000 per year. Bonuses are a common feature of the job and generous living allowances are often provided for those working overseas.
Responsibilities

Meeting with other engineers and scientists to draw up a plan of action.
Obtaining the necessary permits and licences needed to complete the work.
Ensuring that the process complies with regulations and laws currently affecting the engineering industry.
Interpreting well-logging results.
Finding out the locations which will be most productive.
Producing mathematical models which will help individuals visualise the process.
Designing/choosing appropriate equipment for drilling.
Designing pumps and other systems necessary for the well to flow efficiently.
Making sure cables are strong enough to support the process system.
Performing tasks which improve the flow path.
Analysing drilling performance and efficiency.
Ensuring that drilling is performed safely at all times.
Making sure that wells are maintained at all times.
Adhering to relevant health and safety regulations.
Training staff and making sure that they work well as a team.
Keeping clients informed of the project's progress.

Qualifications

Most oil and gas engineers hold degrees in relevant subjects and many hold postgraduate qualifications. Relevant subjects include aeronautical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. Oil and gas engineers with a relevant PhD often command a higher salary. Since the industry is so competitive, an upper second class degree will give you an advantage. Large international companies offer graduate training programmes, which offer both a good salary and invaluable experience for a future career in oil and gas extraction. It is not possible to become an oil and gas engineer with an HND.

Companies usually encourage employees to gain chartered status and many choose to become members of relevant institutes and associations.
Skills

Oil and gas engineers will need to possess the following skills:

A methodical approach.
An in-depth knowledge of science and mathematics.
Team-leading skills.
Enthusiasm and commitment to each project.
The ability to take responsibility for mistakes .
The ability to take own initiative whilst obeying health and safety regulations.
The ability to explain complex processes in simple terms.
Good business skills.
The ability to motivate self and others.
The ability to pay close attention to detail whilst retaining a broad perspective.
Flexibility and creativity.

Working Conditions

Oil and gas engineers are usually able to work between the hours of nine and five. However, they will need to remain flexible and overtime may be necessary. Offshore projects will see individuals working shifts and they will usually be able to come home for short periods after working for longer periods on site. Although a lot of time is spent in the project location, oil and gas engineers spend most of their time in a comfortable office environment. Those considering a career as an oil or gas engineer should be aware that the job can be stressful and unpredictable at times. It can also be physically demanding.
Experience

No formal experience is required prior to making an application. However, undertaking internships and unpaid work experience at relevant companies will provide you with an advantage.
Employers

Major employers of oil and gas engineers include:

Operating companies.
Engineering consultancies.
Specialist contractors.
Service companies.
Drilling companies.

Career Progression

Oil and gas engineers may progress from holding technical roles, where they would be involved in the daily work of a project, to managerial and supervisory roles. Some choose to move away from work offshore to hold positions in the marketing department of the oil company or consultancy. These individuals will be responsible for managing the growth of the business.

I need ur counsel plz

You know that having a Msters degree or second degree does not in any way shape or form guarantee you getting a job, right? When you decided to study your subject, what were you hoping you would be in the future or did you just choose any subject for the sake of it. What is your passion?
These and more are the questions you ought to be asking yourself. Go to a website called prospects.ac.uk. They give brilliant career advices. All you need to do is type in your chosen field or your degree subject and they will give you alternative careers you can go into if one fails. Regardless anyways you should have transferable skills from you place of employment. Skills such as teamwork, communication, organising, etc etc. remember tailor your cv to suit the job (do not lie thought... Just tailor). And highlight the strong points if you find a position you would like. Right now it sound like you are even confused as to what job to start applying for. Where do you skills lie? Where do you passion lie?
If you are really bent on getting a masters then go for it.... But still tailor your masters to something you would like to see yourself doing in the future and start applying for jobs whilst doing your masters.

OP... Firstly you need to decide what type of job you would like to go into...whether in your industry or change of paths...Look at the overall job specs in that industry and if a consensus is that a masters is required? Then you probably should think of doing a masters...if not then focus on applying for work experience. A 2.1 degree is brilliant and depending on the requirements of your future role...don't go into another education field for the sake of it. Do something you ll actually need. Some employers now prefer a professional certificate over a masters. But you will never know this until you go to those companies websites, look at the type of job you wish to get and the job specs and tailor your cv to the job specs.

Hope this helps x

Business To Business / Re: Can Any One Help Me On How To Buy Cheap Thing From China by akuji: 7:57pm On Jun 28, 2013
Alibaba is one of the main ones but be very careful so you don't scammed.

1. Find a Suitable Supplier.

Many importers find a nice sample at a trade show, get a good quotation from the company believed to have manufactured the sample and then think their supplier search has ended. It is very risky to choose your supplier in this way. Online directories (e.g. Alibaba) and trade shows are only a starting point. Suppliers pay to be listed or to exhibit, and they are not rigorously screened.

If your contact claims to own a factory, you can run a background check on his company to confirm this claim. Then you should go and see the factory or order a capacity audit (around USD$1,000). Try to get some customer references and call them. Make sure the factory is familiar with your market’s regulatory standards.

If your orders are small, it is usually best to avoid very large manufacturers because they will probably quote high prices and not care about your orders. However, smaller factories usually need closer monitoring, especially on the first production run. Be forewarned: showing a nice factory and then subcontracting production to a smaller workshop is very common and the source of many quality problems. Your contract with your supplier should prohibit subcontracting.

2. Clearly Define Your Expected Product.

Some buyers approve a pre-production sample and a pro forma invoice and then wire the deposit. This is not enough. What about your own country’s safety standards? What about your product’s labeling? Will the packaging be strong enough to protect your goods during freight? These are just some of the many things on which you and your supplier should reach written agreement before money changes hands.

I recently worked with an American importer who had told its Chinese supplier that “the quality standard should be the same as that of your other US customers.” Of course when this American importer started experiencing problems, the Chinese supplier replied by claiming that “our other US customers never complain about this, so it is not a problem.”

The key is to write your product expectations into a detailed specification sheet that leaves no room to interpretation. Your methods for measuring and testing these specifications, along with the tolerances, should also be included in this document. And your contract should set forth specific dollar penalties if the specifications are not met.

If you are developing a new product with a Chinese manufacturer, you should be sure to document the resulting product’s characteristics and production processes as you cannot count on your supplier to give you this information if you later choose to switch to another factory.

3. Negotiate Reasonable Payment Terms.

The most common payment method is T/T (Bank Transfer). The standard terms are a 30% deposit before the components are purchased with the remaining 70% to be paid after the supplier faxes the bill of lading to the importer. It can get a bit more complex if a mold or special tooling is necessary during development.

Those vendors who insist on more favorable terms are usually seeking to trap you. I recently worked with a buyer who was so confident he would receive a good product he paid the full price before production. Needless to say, delivery came late and there were quality problems. He had nothing to use to leverage appropriate corrective action.

Another popular method is to pay by irrevocable L/C (Letter of Credit). Most serious exporters accept an L/C if you specify reasonable terms. You can send the draft to your supplier for approval before the letter is formally “opened” by your bank. Bank fees are higher than when you pay via T/T, but you are much better protected. I advise using an L/C for new suppliers or for very large orders.

4. Control Your Product Quality in the Factory.

How do you make sure your supplier met your product specifications? By going to the factory yourself and monitoring for this or by appointing a third party inspection firm to manage this process for you (for most shipments, third party quality control companies charge less than USD$300).

The most common type of quality control is a final random inspection of a statistically valid sample. This statistically valid sample gives professional inspectors enough to quickly and cost effectively draw conclusions about an entire production run.

In some cases, quality control should also take place earlier so as to catch problems before all production is complete. In these cases, an inspection should take place either before the components are embedded in the final goods or when the first finished products just get off the lines. In these cases, some samples can be picked up and sent for lab testing.

To take full advantage of QC inspections you should first have defined the product spec sheet, (see section 2 above), which then becomes your inspector’s checklist. Second, your payments (see section 3 above) should be tied to quality approvals. If you pay by T/T, you should not wire wire the remainder of your payment until your product passes final inspection. If you pay by L/C, the documents required by your bank should include a certificate of quality control issued by your appointed QC firm.

5. Formalizing the Previous Steps

Most importers are not aware of two facts. First, it is possible for an importer to sue a Chinese supplier, but it only makes sense to do it in China — unless that supplier owns assets in another country. Second, your purchase orders will aid in your supplier’s defense; they almost certainly will not help you.

To minimize your risks, you should buy your product pursuant to an OEM agreement (preferably one that is in Chinese). This contract will decrease your chances of problems and give you greater leverage should a problem occur.

My last bit of advice is that you be sure to put this entire system in place before you start negotiating with potential suppliers. Doing this will let them know that you are a professional importer and they will respect you for this. They will be more likely to agree to your requests because they will know that you can easily find another supplier. Perhaps most importantly, it will be much more difficult and much less effective if you start scrambling to put this system in place after you have already placed your order.

Obataosu: D moni belong to my elder brother, he gave me d moni to keep for him in unspecified time. So i said to my self dat i wil use dat moni as a loan and pay back in a short time.

This is why I will never ever give money anymore to someone in Nigeria to keep for me or do something for me...because they will use it to their own cause without informing the owner...and then if they lose the money, they ll start telling you stories. If you insist on getting the money back, they insult you and act like you were the one in the wrong in the first place. I'm sure your brother did not just give you that money to keep for him. I'm sure it was earmarked for something. Why don't you put it in the bank for him and take a risk with ur own money from ur own hassle or better still, if he has genuinely asked you to keep it for him then you can ask him if you can use it for some business and then pay him back at a certain time. If he doesn't need it then, I'm sure he won't object. Rather than treat the money as urs and then tell stories later.
