PoliticsParadox Of Law by alasane(op): 11:03am On Oct 25, 2019
A Law teacher came across a student who was willing to learn but was unable to pay the fees. The student struck a deal saying, "I will pay your fee the day I win my first case in the court".

Teacher agreed and proceeded with the law course. When the course was finished and teacher started pestering the student to pay up the fee, the student reminded him of the deal and pushed days.

Fed up with this, the teacher decided to sue the student in the court of law and both of them decided to argue for themselves.

The teacher put forward his argument saying:
"If I win this case, as per law, the student has to pay me as the case is about his non-payment of dues.
And if I lose the case, the student will still pay me because he would have won his first case...
So either way I will get the money".

Equally brilliant, the student argued back saying:
"If I win the case, as per law, I don't have to pay anything to the teacher as the case is about my non-payment of dues.
And if I lose the case, I don't have to pay him because I wouldn't have won my first case yet....
So either way, I am not going to pay the teacher anything".

This is one of the greatest paradoxes ever recorded.

Who is right and who is the winner?

This is part of ancient Greek history. The lawyer teacher was Protagoras (c.485-415 BCE) and the student was Euthalos. This is known as Protagoras's Paradox. This case was not solved. The most interesting part - this is still debated (even today) in law schools !

PoliticsNigerians Losing Confidence In The Electoral System, Jega Warns by alasane(op): 9:19am On Oct 24, 2019
As Nigeria prepares for governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States next month, a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has warned that Nigerians are losing confidence in the electoral process.
Jega said yesterday at Tell Magazine’s 20 years of democracy conference in Abuja that the loss of confidence had resulted in declining voter turnout since 1999 when Nigeria returned to civil rule.
He also warned that if care was not taken, the prediction of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on the disintegration of Nigeria would come to pass.
He attributed the low turnout of voters during elections to lack of trust, adding that majority of registered voters in the past election cycle did not vote.
According to him, there has been a remarkable trust deficit by the electorate in the electoral process.
The former INEC chairman also said the country had witnessed some reversals in the progress it made during the 2015 elections he conducted.
Jega added that more work needed to be done to protect the integrity of the country’s electoral process before 2023.
He said: “The clearest evidence of this loss of trust and confidence is declining voter turnout in elections since 1999.
“For example, people have argued that in 2015, the generalised insecurity was a result of the activities of Boko Haram and was responsible for the low voter turnout regardless of the improvement in the electoral process.
“The postponement of elections both in 2015 and 2019 may be some explanations as to why there was low voter turnout.
“Perhaps, the clearest evidence of this loss of trust and confidence in the electoral process is the declining voter turnout in elections since 1999.
“The reported data of voter turnout as a percentage of registered voters for elections are 52.3 per cent (1999); 69.1 per cent (2003); 57.3 per cent (2007); 55.4 per cent in 2011; 44 per cent in 2015; and 37 per cent in 2019.
“Although, a lot of improvement has been seen in the past few years – there’s fear of a possible reversal of fortunes in the 2023 elections if moneybags continue to believe in the use of thugs and money to buy votes.”
He also gave reasons for the deployment of security personnel during electoral process, noting it would curb systemic security challenges.
While making a strong case for the safeguarding of the country’s election process, he urged politicians to know that election is a process and not an event.
Jega called for concerted efforts to ensure that the CIA’s prediction of Nigeria’s disintegration did not come to fruition.
“The CIA thought that 2015 was the do-or-die period for Nigeria; that there would not be a Nigeria in the way you know after the 2015 general election – that has come to pass. But I think if we do not take care, a lot of these predictions will come to pass; that is why we need to do quite a lot, much more than we have ever done in order to protect the integrity of the electoral process before 2023,” he stated.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, took a swipe at those he called “ethnic jingoists who described winning election as ‘a do-or die affair.”
Oshiomhole said even after such people had realised their personal ambition, they still wanted the country to explode.
Nairaland GeneralNimc’s Unwarranted ID Card Charges by alasane(op): 8:48am On Oct 23, 2019
The announcement by the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, last week Tuesday, October 15, 2019 that Nigerians seeking to replace their lost National ID Cards or “renew” existing ones are to pay fees has left concerned citizens wondering what the real intention of the Commission is with regard to the National ID Card scheme. Does the NIMC really want to register as many Nigerian citizens as possible (which is its core mandate) or has the scheme become just another avenue for generating revenue? What then is the relevance of a Commission which vicariously seeks to keep out the poorest among us from possessing the National ID Card? NIMC Information on the Twitter handle of the NIMC quotes the Commission as charging N5,000 for replacement of lost National ID, while card “renewal” is N3,000, all payable through Remita. JAMB: How to check your result(Opens in a new browser tab) NIMC makes it clear that the most important thing is for every citizen to register and have their National Identity Number, NIN. The impression is being given that if you have the NIN you do not need the card unless you can afford to pay for it. This impression is probably behind the failure of the NIMC to promptly issue the National ID Card to millions of Nigerians who registered and were issued their NINs years ago. This is a totally objectionable attitude by a Commission charged with managing our national identity policy. In a country where there is no unified central database, having the NIN without the ID Card itself might hamper citizens’ eligibility where the National ID Card is required. This is why every identity collection system that requires personal data capture – Nigerian Passport, Driver’s Licence, the INEC Voter’s Card, ATM Card and Bank Verification Number, BVN – is quickly backed up with cards. If there is any national identity system that must back up citizen registration without fail, it is the National ID Card, the ultimate, all-purpose and compulsory form of citizen identification. Even if Nigerians are to renew any other form of identification, the National ID Card should never be subject to renewal, especially if failure to renew can hamper citizens in any way. NIMC’s failure to establish a national identity database is shameful and unacceptable. This fee demand for “renewal” and replacement of lost National ID Card is an attempt to extort the citizens. It adds further to the pile-up of taxes, fees and levies that this administration is imposing on hapless citizens. It is capable of robbing over 100 million extremely poor Nigerians of their right to possess their country’s ID Card. NIMC is not and should not be a revenue generating Federal agency. Like the INEC, it must provide the National ID Card to all citizens free of charge. These charges must be dropped.
PoliticsA Nation At The Mercy Of Gunmen by alasane(op): 8:36am On Oct 23, 2019
Barely a week after gunmen abducted six female pupils, vice- principal and a matron at the Engravers College in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, some other gunmen invaded Government Technical College in Mararaban Kajuru in Kajuru local government area of the same state and seized the principal. At about the same period, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was abducted from his residence on the outskirts of Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, just as two policemen and a civilian were abducted by sea pirates in Andoni local council of Rivers State.
Last Sunday, armed men attacked the former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in his home town, Madobi. Even the Federal Capital Territory is under attack. A fortnight ago, gunmen in military uniform abducted nine persons including a 12-year-old, a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) officer with his wife and one of his children at Dafara, a community in Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
All over, the country now seems like a strange place to live in. Never in the history of the country have we seen criminals waging a sophisticated and a heartless war on the people. The entire security picture is messy, confused and troubling. In Northeast, the general security situation remains largely volatile. In the Northwest banditry has been raised to an art. The deteriorating security situation in the states of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kaduna and Katsina has led to the displacement of tens of thousands of people to Niger.
From the North central to Southwest and Southeast, security looks badly compromised and tarnished. Only last month, the situation was dreary enough for all the South West governors to convene a security summit at Ibadan, Oyo State, in the presence of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. And in response to the prevailing violence which leads to daily loss of lives and property in the zone, the Southeast Governors Forum also resolved recently to set up a security committee and a southeast integrated security monitoring/intelligence gathering to be located in Enugu.
The situation across the country is more worrying despite the new emphasis on security across the nation marked by huge budgetary allocations. In no area is this more evident in the prosecution of the decade-long war against the extreme Islamic religious group Boko Haram. After the optimistic early years of the administration when it declared prematurely that the war was almost over, the big picture is still a lot more troubling.
Indeed, the Boko Haram crisis is reportedly returning to the precarious state when the insurgents held territories in the northeast, as recently confirmed by one of the lawmakers from Borno State. A recent report by SB Morgen, a geopolitical intelligence platform revealed that the situation was far from rosy as the security outfits recorded hundreds of casualties between January and September. “In year 2019 to date,” said the report, “the number of casualties for the security forces has almost doubled, as insurgents, mainly from ISWAP faction, have focused their attacks on military forward operating bases in the fringes of Lake Chad and northern Borno….”
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State recently at a public lecture spoke the minds of many when he repeated the call to decentralise security apparatus and law enforcement from the federal to state down to the community. He said, and rightly too, that partnership in the security sector and inter-agency collaboration must be encouraged to bring about effective policing, adding that the police, as the traditional and age-long security outfit, must be accorded their pride of place. “This means re-tooling, re-training and re-arming the police force – much neglected in the scheme of security planning and recognising their premier role in the field of law enforcement and the first line in national security management.” It couldn’t have been more apt.
EducationNo Going Back On IPPIS, FG Tells ASUU by alasane(op): 8:22am On Oct 23, 2019
The rift between the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) deepened yesterday as the federal government dismissed the union’s concern about putting lecturers on the centralised salary payment platform.
Reacting to the union’s objection to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that federal government workers not on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) would not be paid salaries, the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Ahmed Idris, fired back, saying that the union is not in a position to dictate to the federal government on how its members should be paid their salaries.
ASUU had summoned an emergency National Executive Council meeting, where it was agreed that the leadership of the union at chapter level should begin mobilisation of members for an action against the government over the implementation of IPPIS.
The academic community had all along expressed their reservations on joining the scheme, citing the autonomy enjoyed by universities as well as the peculiarities associated with the academic environment.
But the federal government had directed that any worker not on the IPPIS would no longer receive salary with effect from October.
ASUU had insisted that it was not against accountability but would resist attempt by the government to violate existing laws and autonomy of the university.
The union also claimed to have offered to help the federal government design the appropriate template that would factor in the peculiarities of university lecturers in the IPPIS, a suggestion the government has not accepted.
ASUU alleged that the government’s template would enslave intellectuals as it did not make provisions for payment of arrears of promotion, study leave allowance, responsibility allowance, among others.
ASUU also threatened to commence legal action against the federal government over the latter’s move to compel the enrollment of its members on the IPPIS platform.
However, the AGF yesterday accused the union of trying to denigrate the IPPIS, which according to him, has been widely celebrated.
He said: “That notwithstanding, there is nowhere employees dictate to their employers as to how he or she should be paid as being dictated by ASUU.”
Idris said the policy had enabled government to save over N273 billion from personnel cost between 2017 and 2018.
In a statement by the AGF, and made available to THISDAY, he blamed ASUU for the “misinformation being circulated by the union to justify their opposition to enrolling on IPPIS, a policy of government for which the president directed that all MDAs drawing their salary from Consolidated Revenue Funds (CRF) should join by the end of October 2019.”
He wondered why ASUU would jettison a policy aimed at saving cost and wastages in the personnel cost of government.
He noted that before now, several meetings had been held with the leadership of universities comprising vice chancellors, registrars, bursars, National University Commission (NUC) and the four unions, including NASU, NAAT, SSANU, and ASUU, where the workings of IPPIS system had been explained and demonstrated as to accommodate all government approved peculiarities of tertiary institutions such as retirement age, sabbatical, visiting and other peculiarities.
Idris said during the engagements with the unions, the federal government had pegged the retirement age of professors and readers at 70 years while others in the universities had 65 years.
He said: “For polytechnics and colleges of education retirement age is 65 years as is the case in all research institutions.
“Visiting lecturers are entitled to 50 per cent of their salary in the visiting institutions but only limited to one institution as approved by NUC, NBTE and NCCE their regulatory body.
“For sabbatical, 100 per cent of their salary in the institution where the sabbatical is taking place in addition to the full salary being paid in their host institution.”
According to him, “Sabbatical leave salary is for a maximum period of one year only but applicable every seventh year and as it is the standard practice but subject to approval.
“Other allowances as duly agreed through collective bargaining between their unions and government as approved and formalised by Salary, Income and Wages Commission (SIWC) will be paid to the last kobo, inclusive of leave allowances.
“The accommodation of their peculiarities was fully demonstrated on our payroll slide to confirm how they will be treated accordingly in the presence of the university stakeholders and all their four unions.”
Notwithstanding, Idris expressed disappointment that “after the practical demonstration, it was only ASUU through their national leadership which questioned the legality of IPPIS and federal government to pay salary directly to their members in the face of their autonomy.”
He said despite the practical demonstration, ASUU had continued to mislead its members and the public for any other reason best known to them alone.
“The university community, based on their level of knowledge, experience, academic and research, one would have expected them to be in the forefront of championing any policy that is geared towards accountability and transparency in government expenditure,” he said.
He described ASUU’s alleged opposition to IPPIS as an open endorsement of corruption in the university system, as the IPPIS platform will not allow employment of workers at will without compliance with due process on employment.
“To meet the deadline of government, the process of enrolment is ongoing; we therefore, urge all university staff to ensure they enroll on to the IPPIS platform.
“It is pertinent to note that other unions in the universities have complied and the campaign of calumny against Office of the Accountant General of the Federation by ASUU is uncalled for and should be ignored,” he said.
PoliticsAbduction Of Kano Children: MURIC Accuses CAN Of Protecting Christians Into Dirt by alasane(op): 9:31am On Oct 22, 2019
Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has accused the Christian Association of Nigeria (Northern Region) of seeking to prevent it from speaking out against the alleged forceful conversion to Christianity of nine Muslim children kidnapped in Kano. MURIC stirred the ire of the apex Christian body in the 19 Northern states and Abuja when it claimed that kidnappers have taken over the house of God and that children were ‘Kidnapped for Christ’. In its reaction, Northern CAN described the claim as ‘reckless, irresponsible, derogatory and provocative utterances.’ But the Islamic civic group, in a statement on Monday by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, alleged CAN was acting defensively merely to protect the interests of Christians into dirty businesses. The statement reads, “There is incontrovertible evidence that Muslim children have been kidnapped, converted to Christianity and sold into slavery. It is not the Kano 9 alone. MURIC seeks justice for 9 kidnapped Kano children “Instead of joining hands with us to condemn the bad ones among us, Northern CAN is seeking to silence us. “We advise Northern CAN to put its house in order and stop blaming MURIC and launch a campaign of love and harmony in the churches. “There is an urgent need to deradicalise Christian elements particularly in the Middle Belt region where Muslims are being killed and dumped inside mysterious ponds and narrow wells. The same advocacy should be taken to South Eastern Nigeria from where syndicates sponsor sleeper cells from where Muslim children abducted from Northern Nigeria are converted to Christians and sold into slavery. “Enough of denials and sentimentalities. Northern CAN should stop defending the indefensible. Its current body language is not remorseful. “We warn that Northern CAN should not drag Nigerian Christians into a controversy that involves only those who are in the dirty business of kidnapping Muslim children for conversion to Christianity. “We invite Northern CAN to put its house in order and join hands with the authorities in fishing out remaining sleeper cells for the kidnapping and conversion of Muslim children to Christianity. We can all coexist peacefully but we must first eschew parochialism and address issues objectively.” Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the umbrella Christian body in the North, Rev John Hayab, said the Church had clearly made its point that the children were not Kidnapped for Christ. Hence, would not want to join issues with the MURIC over the matter. “I am not going to join issues with Prof. Akintola. We have established that the man who abducted the children in Kano was not a Christian cleric. He even gave them tribal names, not a Christian names. That’s the impress we are trying to correct. We have said it clearly that the children were not kidnapped for Christ as alleged by MURIC.”
PoliticsConfusion, Anger As Telcoms Charge N4 For Banking Services by alasane(op): 10:23am On Oct 21, 2019
Beginning from today, Nigerians who use financial institutions’ unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) platforms to transfer money from one point to another are expected to incur additional charges for such services.
The USSD services include the GTB’s *737#; First Bank’s *894#; Fidelity Bank’s *770#; Access Bank’s *901#; and UBA’s *919# that run on telecoms’ operators platforms. While there is an initial charge of N50 by the bank, which will be retained, customers who use the USSD will be made to pay additional N4.
MTN had at the weekend notified its over 60 million customers in Nigeria of the new development via a text message which read: “Please note that from Oct 21, we will charge N4 per 20 seconds for USSD access to banking services. Please, contact your bank for more info. Thank you.”
The N4 per 20 seconds means that in every per minute, customers will pay ₦12 on each USSD transaction.
Therefore, assuming a quarter of MTN 60million customers (15 million) carry out a USSD transaction in a day, it means that the telecommunications firm could rake in as much as ₦180 million in a day, which could result in ₦5.58billion in a month.
An industry source told The Guardian yesterday that the decision was actually made by the banks’ chief executive officers who are not ready to make deduction from the N50 they charge for the telecoms firms to maintain the ICT infrastructure on which the platforms currently run. Instead, the banks decided to further charge the customers N4, which will be remitted to the telecoms companies for infrastructural maintenance.
“What I don’t really understand is why the banks and telecoms operators can’t agree to share the N50 which is already being charged. They are just there to exploit Nigerians,” he stressed.
A telecoms expert, Kehinde Aluko, who faulted the decision, said it could be a ploy by the government to make additional money from the industry through the backdoor.
“We have not forgotten the plan to introduce Communications Service Tax (CST). I am not saying this is it, but in Nigeria, anything can happen. It will interest you to know that other operators have long started charging additional money before MTN sent the text message to its subscribers. I just don’t know how they want ordinary Nigerians to survive. They want to milk everything out of Nigerians.”
A subscriber, Akin Olumuyiwa, described the additional charge as worrisome. He called on the minister and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to come to the rescue of the over 175 million active subscribers in the country.
Another subscriber, Nnenna Adanma, said the initiative would not work. “It is disturbing. You know how much banks make from customers? They will charge you for everything—ATM maintenance, current account maintenance, SMS charge when they send you transaction details, and now they have colluded with the operators to force Nigerians to pay another N4, no wonder they declare bogus profits at the end of the year. The question is: where are the services? The same goes for the telecoms firms, the services remain unsatisfactory, yet they want to put more burden on subscribers. Government should do something very fast.”
A Twitter user, @DoctorEmto, wrote: “About that USSD thing, I noticed that @ZenithBank has been deducting every time I use their USSD code to check my account balance.”
Another user, @DonanAmillah wrote: “@MTNNG, yesterday I asked why you sent me a message about new charges on banks USSD usages, you insisted it was at the instance of banks, well one of my banks @FirstBank has DMed to say they didn’t ask you to do such. Can you show some proof?”
First Bank’s response to DonanAmillah reads: “This is to advise that the information on charges that apply when dialing *894# USSD codes is not from First Bank. You will be informed if there are any changes with any of our services. Please also note that First Bank has not increased the*894# transaction fees. Kindly disregard any message to that effect. #YouFirst.”
Access Bank, in its reaction to a customer who sent text messages to the bank via Twitter, said: “Our fees and charges on the USSD service remain unchanged, and all our services are available.”
In a swift reaction, the Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Pantami, has suspended the plan.
In a statement made available by his spokesperson, Uwa Suleiman, titled “Discontinuation of Alleged USSD Service Charge by MTN”, Pantami said yesterday that the ministry was not aware of it.
“The attention of the Federal Ministry of Communications has been drawn to the viral text message allegedly sent by the Mobile Network Operator MTN Nigeria and other mobile operators notifying subscribers of a N4:00 charge per 20 seconds on USSD access to banking services from the 21st of October 2019.
“The office of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, is unaware of this development and has hereby directed the sector regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure the operator suspends such plans until the minister is fully and properly briefed,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Prof. Umar Danbatta, the executive vice chairman of the NCC, has said that experience of early depletion and rise in data consumption by telecoms consumers are not necessarily results of illegal deductions or sharp practices by mobile network operators (MNOs) but could be caused by various factors.
Danbatta gave the explanation during a presentation at the monthly briefing on short-term Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications.
During the presentation by the management of the commission to Pantami, and other officials of the ministry at the weekend in Abuja, Danbatta spoke on what the NCC has been doing in key areas of its regulatory mandate which include reduction of cost of data, stemming the tide of ‘illegal deduction’ of data, addressing the issue of invalidly-registered Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards as well as efforts to ensure continuous compliance with the maximum two per cent Call Drop Rate (CDR) directive to telecoms operators on quality of service.
On the issue of data, the EVC said: “The ‘illegal deduction’ of subscribers data was not in the real sense of the word illegal and was also not a result of any proven sharp practice by the operators.
“The reasons for the rise in data consumption and depletion, which is classified by some users as illegal deduction, include the advancement in technology which has led to the rise in applications, updates and services that leverage on this technology and advancement of supportive data infrastructure.”
Other causes, according to him, are increase in video-based advertising content by social media companies which in some cases are layered on free services offered by the companies; auto updates of apps on the phone over mobile data network without any sort of prompting or intervention by the user of the mobile phone.
In his presentation to the minister, the Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity, NCC, Bako Wakil, said that while regulatory efforts were ongoing towards a downward review of cost of data and improved quality of data services for subscribers, the drivers of the cost of data provision and quality of service in Nigeria were, however, not entirely within the control of the commission.
“These data provision drivers and factors include Right of Way (RoW) issues, fiber cuts, vandalism, multiple taxations, insecurity and power outages as well as site access denial that tends to temper seamless service provision.”
On measures being taken by the commission towards curbing proliferation of pre-registered SIM cards in the country, Danbatta elaborated on a broad-based identity management database solution being worked on to permanently curb the menace.
“In view of the grave impact of pre-registered SIM cards and other SIM-related crimes on national security arising from this challenge, the commission is considering implementing robust identity management solutions to curb the menace as the telecoms sector transits into a new SIM card registration regime based on the mandatory use of National Identity Number (NIN) regulations issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).”

CrimeSouthwest Governors To Unveil Operation Amotekun by alasane(op): 9:55am On Oct 18, 2019
Oyo State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde, has said that the security challenges confronting the people of the Southwest will soon be a thing of the past as governors in the region are working on the launch of a joint security outfit codenamed: “Amotekun” soon.
He said the decision to launch the joint security outfit was part of the resolutions reached at the various security stakeholders’ meeting held in the region at various times.
The governor also disclosed that his administration would, before the end of the year, launch the Oyo State Development Association for Socio-Economic Renaissance (OYODASER) and the state’s vigilance services.

According to him, the OYODASER, which will be a better version of the defunct MAMSER, will be used as a vehicle to make people believe in his administration and carry them along in governance.
Makinde spoke while hosting top officials of the Vigilance Group of Nigeria and the Community Development Council (CDC), who paid a courtesy call on him in his Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan, office.
Speaking on various efforts being put in place to nip insecurity in the bud in his state and the region as a whole, Governor Makinde said the security architecture he planned to unveil soon would also be linked to the emerging Southwest security structure codenamed: “Amotekun,” being worked on by all the governors of the six Southwest states.
He reiterated the readiness of his government to partner with the VGN and CDC to find a lasting solution to the internal security challenges in the state.
Makinde said: “We want to have OYODASER and apart from this, we will have the Southwest-wide initiative known as “Amotekun,” with the operatives known as “Irunmole.” But it is clear that the government cannot do it alone when it comes to the issue of security. We need to work together.
“Maybe in the past, some promises were made and not fulfilled. That was in the past. This administration will not tread on that path. We will make sure we do whatever we say”.

CrimeHow I Killed Navy Cdr. Ogundana, By Suspect by alasane(op): 5:31pm On Oct 10, 2019
WEEKS after the killing of the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Commander Oluyemisi Ogundana, the prime suspect in the murder Bernard Simon has narrated how he “committed” the crime.
Simon, one of the 50 suspects paraded by Kaduna State Police Commissioner Ali Aji Janga, made one point clear on Wednesday: he alone killed Commander Ogundana alone.
The suspect also categorically denied one charge CP Janga laid against him.
CP Janga, while parading the suspected killer, said he raped the naval officer to death.
Simon denied the charge, saying he never raped Commander Ogundana, whether before or after killing her.

There was one clear confession, though. Simon admitted killing the naval officer without the assistance of anyone else, saying that he hit her on the head with an iron rod after sneaking into her house at the Jaji Military Cantonment.
Thirty-six-year-old Simon said, “I killed Commander Ogundana alone. I sneaked into her house in the evening and hit her on the head with iron rod.
“I killed her because she was cheating us in the school. I am a teacher in the school and she was cheating us as staff under her. I killed her to set the whole staff of the school free from her cheats.
“There are some financial benefits she deprived us of. She denied me in particular of over N100,000. That is why I killed her to set myself and other staff free from her.”
Simon equally admitted throwing Commander Ogundana’s mutilated body into a shallow well.
He said he regretted his action.
PoliticsDavid Cameron’s Revelation: Insult Buhari Not Jonathan PDP Tells APC by alasane(op): 12:59pm On Oct 07, 2019
David Cameron’s revelation: Insult Buhari not Jonathan PDP tells APC The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has on Sunday advised the All Progressives Congress, APC to stop insulting ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, noting that their invective best suits President Muhammadu Buhari and his Presidency. President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari The party equally noted that Buhari’s administration has gone down as the most incompetent and most corrupt in the history of Nigeria. Disclosing this in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party averred that the distortions and groundless attack on Jonathan was a desperate tactic by the APC and the Buhari Presidency to divert public attention from the recent shocking corruption and fraud revelations in which close relatives and confidants of Mr. President are mentioned. Recall that Nasir Danu who reportedly was Buhari’s known confidant was arrested at the Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, for alleged passport scam and money laundering. Presidency funding APC candidates with N6 billion looted funds- PDP(Opens in a new browser tab) In view of that, the party asked Buhari’s Presidency to defuse the situation, take a stand and stop diverting Nigerians attention on infinitesimal issues. Recall also that APC had blamed Jonathan for the April 14, 2014 abduction of scores of schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno state, saying the ex-president should stop attempting to absolve himself of blame regarding the incident. But in a riposte on Sunday, PDP opined, “We have been made aware of how the Presidency has been in a frenzy to suppress investigations and deflect public enquiries from the arrest of President Buhari’s known confidant deported from the United Kingdom for alleged international passport scam and money laundering, as it knows that an inquest will further expose the huge rot in the Buhari Presidency. Our party has equally been made aware of how the APC and the Buhari Presidency have been desperate to divert public attention from the administration’s obnoxious decision to further oppress Nigerians by reintroducing tollgates on our highway, increasing Value Added Tax (VAT), electricity bill and other tariffs as well as their despicable plot to sack government workers. The PDP charges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to perish the idea of thinking that this unnecessary distortions on the Jonathan administration would bury the demand for an inquest into the Danu racket through which billions of naira meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians are allegedly being diverted to private purses. The PDP invites Nigerians to note how the APC had remained silent since revelations that its key leaders and the cabal at the Presidency are involved in the stealing of over N14 trillion meant for the wellbeing of Nigerians. Our party further challenges the APC and the Buhari Presidency to speak out on the alleged diversion of the N500bn meant for the Social Investment Programme among other humongous fraud directly perpetrated under the Buhari Presidency. Your third term bid is a very dangerous game, don’t play it, PDP warns Buhari Presidency, APC(Opens in a new browser tab) Furthermore, in trying to tar the PDP, the APC forgets that it is already common knowledge that all the bad eggs that brought a bad name to the PDP have since left our repositioned party to the APC where their National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who also has a huge corruption allegation on his neck, admitted that the party is a haven for corrupt persons. Moreover, the fact that President Buhari can only surround himself with persons openly indicted for corruption, as ministers and advisers, speaks volume of the administration’s posturing on corruption. The PDP therefore charges the APC not to think that it can cover its mess by trying to make unfounded allegations against President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP as Nigerians can now see through their shenanigans.”

Of cos some of them would have read about all these your propaganda. but they never fell for them.
Apparently they were wiser than your lots. They are holistic in their approach and are not affected by prejudice/Stereotype.

Can you simply explain the antecedent to those hadiths you quoted?

You just pick one verse that suite your whims to malign Islam right?

It's just like quoting Numbers 31: 17-18

So now, kill all the boys, as well as every woman who has had relations with a man, but spare for yourselves every girl who has never had relations with a man.

I know you will never address what i say but to keep posting your false pictures. May you be guided aright. aamin.
May Allah reward you for the beautiful response...Jazakhallahu khair

CrimeNavy Commander’s Murder Planned From Church’ by alasane(op): 10:47am On Sep 27, 2019
Bernard Simon, the suspect in the murder of Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College Secondary School in Jaji, Navy Commander Oluyemisi Ogundana allegedly planned the murder from a church, The Nation learnt on Thursday.
It was gathered that Simon, who was removed as Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Secretary by Commander Ogundana for alleged illegal practices, was residing in the church days before he allegedly executed the evil act.
It was gathered that Simon, a native of Kogi State, was evicted from his residence by his unnamed landlady who had allegedly expressed displeasure over his behaviour.
“He is the General Secretary of the church and when his landlady sent him packing, he moved his things to the church. He was actually staying in the church at the time he planned and killed her. It is suspected that he killed her on Friday night.
“He tore her net to gain entry into the passage and then to her garage. It is suspected he ambushed her at the garage because that place is inner garage and a bit dark,” said a source.
The Nation gathered that after killing her, mutilating her body with the help of his nephew Ibrahim Momoh which they dumped inside a well near a church inside the cantonment, Bernard returned to her home the following day to steal her belongings including a laptop, money and other valuables.

It was gathered that investigators took the suspect to the church where most of Commander Ogundana’s items were found. Her laptop, it was gathered, was recovered from Momoh’s wife, who allegedly confessed that the duo gave her.
He was said to have also looked for the original copies of her vehicle particulars to aid their selling it but could not find them which prompted his hiring two soldiers to stand as guarantors that the vehicle was genuine.
“After they killed her, they went away with her car but the man came back to her apartment on Saturday and ransacked it. He was looking for the original vehicle documents to ease the sale but it seems he could not get it. Then, he went and got two soldiers to assure buyers that the vehicle was not stolen and it was genuine.
“The soldiers claimed that they did not know the vehicle belonged to the commander and that they did not know anything had happened to her. They have been arrested by the military police because what they did was even illegal,” said another source.
Meanwhile, Commander Ogundana’s colleagues, it was learnt, were planning a condolence visit to her husband said to have returned to Lagos from Kaduna to stay with his young kids who were said to be asking of their mother’s whereabouts.
A source said she had promised them she will be back last week and since they have not seen her yet, they have been asking their father where she was and why she did not come home as promised?
“They do not know yet. They keep asking of their mother and have been told she went for an exercise. Maybe, now that their father is back, he will find a way to tell them,” said the source.
