There's nothing wrong marrying Hausa Lady my brother. If that's what you want, pray over it and go for it. I have the same desire too. May God help you to make the right choice, Amin.
Irijosa777:

Greetings Nairalander, I am from Delta State in my final year at the University of Benin. I have not been a in relationship and currently am not in a relationship but am planning of going into a relationship during my NYSC next year preferably an hausa girl.

My mom and family want me to marry from my tribe, but deep in my heart I want to marry an hausa girl, it started as a joke but is becoming real and the feeling is becoming so strong within me, I don't have any hausa friends, I have never be to the north before and I don't have any connections with them. The true is that if you ask me why I want to marry an hausa girl, I don't have any reason but falling in love with an hausa girl is already planted in my heart.
My plan was to do my NYSC in the North then get closer/study them and fine the love of my life there but my family won't agree to that, they are strongly against it specially when I said I don't mind if she is a Christian or a Muslim because I don't discriminate irrespective of ur tribe or religious.
Am i making a mistake? Have anybody experience any thing like that?
Is it mission impossible?
Please your advise/opinion is highly needed.
Thanks you!

[quote author=dyoungforester post=85430215] "the one harvested in June had already grown into another yam"
Mr, once a yam is harvested it can never regrown into tuber at that season. what you have after, is yam seed no matter how early it was harvested. and the calculation you made up there is not realistic. in yam farming there are so many risk factors that can affect your outcome. Pests are also there. yam beetle, cricket, mouse are just few that'll compete with you, though some they can be control but not 100%. the chief of all the factors is rain except you have alternative source of water for irrigation. it's very rare to have 80-90% germination in yam farming. your germination rate and harvest time is chiefly dependent on rain fall. yam farming is profitable if wel managed, but one can never say or boast of certain outcome because nature has so much to decide.

hmm, how many time do you harvest, the second harvest is what you don't have the knowledge of. a lot will it is the seed, what turn to yam?. my last harvesting was a great lesson to me. what you experience is different from what you don't experience. I rest my case .
this is how it is done here. planting starts from December down to February. Harvesting is twice, the first is the tuber which is usually harvested from July to September. the second harvest is the yam seed, which we divide into sets and replant
for the next season. is there other way it can be done? please educate us , I'm here to learn.

Having 900 yam sets, You earn of a profit 700,000 per year if harvested twice. if 2000 yam sets, you can earn up to 1.5M in year if harvested twice.
#700,000 from 900 yam set? how is this possible, have you achieve that in real practical experience?

I am just seeing this, thank you for your feedback. Please may I ask further what state you are planting and what are you farming for: leaf or seed? If seed, how has your experience been like.

I plan on experimenting in Ogun State starting early next year God willing. I know people in that axis that farm moringa for leaf but I am yet to meet with anyone that does it for seed. So I am trying to understand the challenges involved in trying to plant in a state like Ogun that has more rainfall than say an average Northern state (which is where it is said to be favourable to grow Moringa). You may ask why Ogun? Well that's the only place I was able to find securely fenced land for a good bargain.

I do appreciate any suggestions, feedback and advice from anyone in the thread.
Thanks guys let's keep up the good work.

I'm sorry for the late reply bro. I'm in kogi, but have my farm in Ondo state. I'm after the seeds. I have seen Hausa traders looking for the seeds to buy, so there's market for it here in kogi. I'm a first timer in moringa farming. I decide to experiment it after I came across this thread. I believe the op will attend to your questions.

Isn't it obvious that this news is fake? Maybe Buhari was right when he said 'Nigeria youths are lazy'. He is right to some extent because not all Nigeria youth are lazy but some are lazy to the brain.
