Politics › I Won’t Always Defend Buhari – Digital Media Adviser, Tolu Ogunlesi by alcmene(op): 5:02pm On Feb 22, 2016
The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital/New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, on Monday hinted that he is open to criticism in the course of carrying out his duty which is to defend the government.

Ogunlesi was quoted by organisers of Social Media Week in Lagos to have said this.

According to the organisers, the renowned blogger and journalist said,, “I’m going to disappoint people that think the work of a PA is to trend hashtags and defend the government.”

Ogunlesi, a University of Ibadan Pharmacy graduate was last week appointed by the President as his New Media Adviser.

We are not deceived in Niger Delta. These bombings are organised by Timipre Sylva that has just lost election.

The initial intention was to criminalize Tompolo for the role he played in curtailing his (Sylva's) efforts in terrorizing Bayelsa electorates during the election.

Now that he has failed to achieve that purpose, the boys are clamoring for recognition.

My advise is that Buhari and his APC gang should take responsibility of what befalls the Nigerian economy this year.

The clock is ticking and precipice is looming ahead.

Politics › Nigeria Needs Entire Army To Man Oil Facilities – JTF by alcmene(op): 2:59pm On Feb 22, 2016
Nigeria needs an entire army to man its oil and gas assets, Commanding Officer of the 3 Battalion, Effurun, Lt Col Igwe Omoke, has said.
Lt.-Col. Omoke spoke when members of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Gas Resources visited the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), in Warri, at the weekend.
He said the criminal justice system was an obstacle to efforts to protect critical national assets.

Lt.-Col Omoke, who took the lawmakers, led by the committee’s Chairman, Fredrick Agbedi, on a tour of the devastated Egwa 1 gas pipeline in Warri South West, said communities must guard oil facilities.
He said: “I think the issue is to find a holistic approach to dealing with this kind of situation and I am sure that your presence here is to kickstart the process of dealing holistically with this problem. When the incident happened, I dashed to Egwa 1. One thing that struck me was how can such a critical infrastructure not be manned? When we say we can do more, I think that is where it comes to play.

“It is vast; we are just talking about NGC, we have the SPDC, we have the Chevron, we have the Agip, so many of them with their pipelines crisscrossing the entire Niger Delta. So I want to say, Sir, that it will take an army, not a division, to man these pipelines. We also take care of other things.

“I can tell you that in the last one week I have received about 21 petitions, notifying the multinational companies of their intentions, I mean the communities writing to me, copying me their letters to the multinational oil companies, telling me their intentions to stop the activities of the multinational companies, as either not to pump crude or to stop their workers from coming to work, because of allegations, ranging from their inability to meet up with their GMOU to other things.

“When you say we should man those places, I think the army is doing its best. Immediately that thing happened, the first thing I did was to locate other critical areas, vulnerable points and man them.
I asked the multinational companies to tell me other places , such as Egwa 1 Manifold that is not manned so that I can place my soldiers and that was what we did. You will recall that from then till now, we have not recorded any subsequent one, especially in those critical areas.”

The committee condemned the recent destruction of oil and gas facilities in the creeks of Delta State, describing it as criminal and unacceptable.
Agbedi, who spoke on behalf of the committee, urged the NGC to table its constraints, especially in the area of vandalism, promising to help the company in solving its problems.

The Managing Director of the NGC, Babatunde Bakare, lamented the constant destruction of the company’s pipeline, describing it as a major challenge, to which the nation recently lost some 500 million mcf.

We know Mr Gani Adams is a gentle man.

The expelled members must be the disgruntled elements that threatened IPOB protesters in Lagos.

Seems EFCC has been bought over by the opposition.
Politics › Corruption Allegations: Probe Me, Gani Adams Tells EFCC by alcmene(op): 2:05pm On Feb 15, 2016
The national coordinator of pan Yoruba group, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has responded to corruption allegations by the former coordinator for Kwara state, Moruf Salami and former coordinators for Ondo and Oyo states, alleging that he collected N9billion from former President Goodluck Jonathan, that 22 million dollars from the late Libyan president, Mummar Ghadaffi.

Gani Adams said the former OPC members were recently dismissed from the congress for acts bordering on indiscipline, anti-congress activities and outright corruption.

“Ordinarily, I would have, as I have done for a long time, ignored these allegations as a ranting of a disgruntled set of people. But, you will agree with me that a lie told over time without any effort to disprove it will begin to take the form of truth,” he said.

He said he decided to speak on the matter; “to disprove all their lies and secondly, to prove that they and their sponsors are the real thieves; and for a better understanding of the matter, I want to take their allegations one after the other.”

22 million dollars from Ghadaffi

“All my life, I have never set my foot on the soil of Libya, neither did I meet the late Ghadaffi or his agent at any time. Let me state here that when this issue first came up, I took it upon myself to write a petition to the State Security Service (SSS), informing them of the allegation and pleading with the Service to help investigate its source in order to get to the root of the matter. As I speak with you, I am still awaiting the response to my petition. Having said that, I want to once again plead with the SSS to, as a matter of urgency, make sure that these people who have alleged me of this grave crime are made to prove the source of their allegation, and if they are not able to do so, should be made to face prosecution for their actions. It is important to explain this, because, by my understanding, it is more than four years now that the Libyan leader died.

“They should explain what the money is meant for and how it was sent to me. Such huge amount of money cannot be transferred to an individual secretly, so they need to do more explanation on how I allegedly received this money. I am not a war mercenary, and I am not sure that Ghadaffi was a Father Xmas who would want to give out such money as a gift. Our organization is a peaceful socio-cultural group, with the sole aim of promoting the cultural heritage of Yoruba race.”

N9 billion from Goodluck Jonathan

“This particular allegation is particularly laughable. That somebody would believe this story is, not only a woeful display of ignorance, but also a pathetic. Despite the poor state of the nation’s economy, the sum of N9billion is a huge amount that I am not sure that, even each gubernatorial candidates of the PDP got from the presidency to prosecute their campaigns. So, while it can be pardoned that somebody came up with the story, it is surely unpardonable and gullible of anybody to believe it. However, for a better understanding of the source of the story, you will recall that it was the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, who as the spokesperson of the APC at the time, came up with the allegation that the former president gave me N9 billion.

“Mohammed’s allegation at the time was that we received the money as payment for the pipeline surveillance contract. He said the money was for us to prosecute the election. His allegation was shortly after our protest against the former INEC chairman’s distribution of PVCs, which we felt was skewed in favour of the north at the time. And to the glory of God, all the fears we raised during the protest were proved during the elections. Mohammed’s allegations have also been proved to be false. It is on record that we have not received any kobo from the government as payment for the pipeline contract. Such allegation coming from a person who today occupies the office of the nation’s minister of information is rather unfortunate and sad.”

Being disrespectful to Yoruba obas

“This particular allegation is not only puerile, but also shows the level of mischief of these people. Without any fear of contradiction, I stand to say I am one of the best Yoruba sons who has cultivated, promoted and maintained a very good relationship with all obas in Yorubaland. It is on record that, through the singular efforts of our organization, and to a large extent, my personal commitment to the ideals of ensuring the unity of Yorubaland and ensuring the peaceful coexistence of Yoruba people all over the world.

“I have worked tirelessly crisscrossing the south west region and promoting one cultural festival or the other. They alleged that I only bowed to our revered father, His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi. Definitely, nothing can be farther from the truth than this. According to a popular Yoruba proverb, Mo sun moba niwon egbeje, mo jinna soba niwon egbefa, arobafin loba n pa.”

N1.6billion from Obanikoro

“They also alleged that I received the sum of N1.6billion from the former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro. To the best of my knowledge, the last time that I saw the former minister was when he accompanied the former president to the National Confab during the inaugural speech by the former president. They need to explain to the world how I got the money and for what purpose it was meant for.

“Let me put the records straight here. I am neither a politician nor a member of the PDP. I have said it several times in the past that our support for the former president during the election was based on our belief as a group that he stood a better chance of implementing the recommendations of the National Confab, which we believed, and still believe for serve the interest of the Yoruba race better. I tell you, anything outside this is a lie and mere fabrication of those alleging it.

“And for Moruf Salami and his cohorts, I am sure that truth shall prevail. Long before the National Coordinating Council decided to expel them from the congress, members of the organization in those states have consistently leveled various allegations, ranging from indiscipline to corruption against them. Rather than try to prove their innocence, these people have come up with these allegations. Of course, none of these is new to me. Despite all their efforts to rubbish my time-tested reputation and integrity, God, in His grace, has always stood by me and uplifted me. I am convinced that He will again vindicate me,” he said in his statement.

The founder of Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) said a new coordinator will emerge for Kwara State tomorrow, February 16 adding that he will not continue to join issues with Salami and the others.

Politics › Col. Adegbe Denies Saying Nigeria Will Burn If He Opens Up, Demands Apology by alcmene(op): 1:24pm On Feb 15, 2016
Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, former ADC to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was recently reported to have been picked up by the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied rumours and subsequent reactions caused by the headlines claiming his revelation about the previous administration would shock and burn the country.

Col. Adegbe cleared the air concerning his recent visit to the EFCC claiming it had nothing to do with the controversial arms fund. He further demanded a public apology from the Sun Publishing Limited management for defaming and dragging his hard-earned name in the mud.

In a letter by the former ADC’s solicitor, Chief Ogwu Onoja, SAN, he cleared the air in details as concerning his clients purpose at the EFCC. He said; “To set the records straight, Col Adegbe was not arrested by EFCC as claimed by your newspaper. It is known fact that. Col Adegbe has been in the UK for studies having been released by the Nigerian Army to do so.

“The EFCC wrote the military authority to invite our client for questioning with respect to an ongoing investigation to clarify certain allegations made against him.
The military authority invited him back to Nigeria, which he willingly came in and reported to the office of the provost marshal in Abuja on Wednesday 10th February 2016.
Due to his late arrival and the inability of the Army to complete their documentation, he was asked to report to the Garrison Mess in Mogadishu Cantonment in line with military tradition till the next day. Upon completion of the necessary paper work, he was excorted to the EFCC where he wrote his statement and was interrogated.”

The whereabouts of the former ex-militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, otherwise known as Tompolo remain unknown four days to the February 19 date given by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to the nation’s security agencies to produce him.
This is just as his Ijaw relatives had vowed not to disclose his hideout to the security men.

A royal father, who spoke with Vanguard on condition of anonymity, said: “No Gbaramatu man will reveal the hideout of Tompolo to any security man even if he knows, unless that person does not have a true Ijaw blood flowing in him.

“Tompolo is an institution, not only in Ijawland, but in the whole of Niger Delta. He has touched many lives and is the current symbol of the struggle.
“Therefore, it is not easy for any full-blooded Ijaw man to betray him. From what I can see, the whole thing is about business transaction, the Federal Government should settle the matter and let peace reign.”

Politics › We Have Located Chibok Girls-NAF by alcmene(op): 12:36pm On Feb 13, 2016
Nigerian Air Force has disclosed that it has discovered locations where the Chibok girls are being held captive by the Boko Haram sect.

Director of Public Relations of the Air Force, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, told Channels Television that the areas cannot be attacked for safety of the girls.

He said recent aerial bombardment was aimed at the logistics base of the Boko Haram sect.

He said: “We have no fears that the girls are not there because that particular location has been under surveillance for quite a while and we suspected maybe it’s a kind of ammunition depot or maybe a workshop that they are using as their logistics place.

“Once you take off the logistics base, of course you gradually weaken the resolve of the enemy to be able to prosecute any campaign.”

On the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)m he said, the machines “have the capability to be airborne for up to eleven hours and they are quite cheap to maintain.

“So, we have been able to employ the UAV to a great extent to carry out reconnaissance and surveillance basically for intelligence gathering on the activities of the Boko Haram.”

Famuyiwa added that the drones have helped the Air Force to understand the terrorists’ pattern of movement and “how to be able to counter them should they want to strike or spring any surprise”.

Politics › Army Release More 275 Boko Haram Suspects In Borno by alcmene(op): 5:15pm On Feb 12, 2016
The Nigerian Army on Friday released 275 Boko Haram suspects that were arrested and detained by the military for alleged involvement in terrorism and insurgency activities in Borno state.

The Theatre Commander of the counter-insurgency operation, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Hassan Umaru at a handing over ceremony to Gov. Kashim Shettima said the suspects have been cleared of any involvement in terrorists activities so the military have no reason of keeping them further in detention.

“In line with the principle of justice, equity and fairness, we released them to their families,” Maj. Gen. Hassan Umaru said, adding that, “I am confident that these detainees will be ambassadors to the Nigerian military”.

He explained that 142 of the total 275 detainees are males, 49 females, 22 under-aged (male) and 50 female children. Others released, according to him, include two Nigeriens and two Cameroonians. He said eight cases that were criminal in nature will be handed over to the Nigerian Police for further investigation and possible prosecution in court of law.

Governor Shettima while receiving the detainees on behalf of their families commended the military for being fair.

He promised that government will assist the released detainees to start a new life, adding that; “Children among you will be returned to school.”

He stated that for any meaningful development to strife, there must be peace. He also pledged that the released adults will be trained in skills and other trades, so that they are fully engaged, as peace continue to return gradually.

His words: “We are better off security wise now than six or seven years ago. We are the people on ground here in Borno State that know whether these lunatics (insurgents) are holding any part of the state as the media misquoted Sen. Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai on insurgents’ control of three councils of Abadam, Mobbar and Kala/Balge.

“The military has exhibited their professionalism, contrary to insinuations from some quarters in the country. The military deserves kudos!.” Governor said.

General officer commanding for 7 Division of Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Victor Ezugwu in his brief remarks said that the military will continue to respect fundamental rights of the people in the area of its operation.

He advised people still living in areas under Boko Haram control to “immediately relocate and move” closer to military posts and other locations; where their lives and property could be protected against any terrorists’ activities in the state.

Politics › Nigerians, Fear Not Of The Buhari Government — Deji Adeyanju by alcmene(op): 3:30pm On Feb 12, 2016
Deji Adeyanju, the director of the new media for the PDP, prompts Nigerians dissatisfied with policies and actions of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to be vocal and fearless.

When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. — Thomas Jefferson

Nigerians don’t have to be afraid of their government.

Speak up about everything wrong. Demand for the prosecution of president Buhari because he sanctioned the killings of 1,000 innocent Shi’a Muslims in Zaria. This is a war crime.

Together, we can ensure Buhari faces justice one day at the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague.
These killings were documented.
Those killed have names. They have family members. There must be a trial someday at The Hague for those who committed these war crimes. Don’t remain silent, speak up. It can be you next.

I want you to always remember the words of Martin Niemöller (1892–1984), a prominent Protestant pastor who emerged as an outspoken public foe of Adolf Hitler and spent the last seven years of Nazi rule in concentration camps.

Niemöller is perhaps best remembered for this quotation:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The time to speak up is now.

Politics › Arrest Fayose For Rigging Ekiti Gov Election – Falana by alcmene(op): 2:14pm On Feb 12, 2016
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, has called for the arrest of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, saying that the governor rigged the June 21, 2014 Ekiti governorship election.

A statement by Falana’s organisation, Value and Integrity Group, on Thursday, said Fayose should be tried for the ‘political malfeasance that characterised the Ekiti governorship election’.

The statement was signed by the coordinator of the group, Shina Odugbemi.

The statement said, “Having consistently demanded the prosecution of all the wicked criminals who shared in the looting of the funds meant for the procurement of arms, Mr. Falana has called for the arrest and trial of Mr. Ayodele Fayose and his cohorts over the N4.8bn deployed to perpetrate the grave electoral malfeasance that characterised the last Ekiti State governorship election.

“In particular, Mr. Falana stated that Mr. Fayose should be tried since he was a candidate and not a governor when the serious electoral offences were committed by him. On his contention that the governor’s immunity does not cover his impunity, Mr. Falana cited several decisions of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

“With respect to fresh facts which have established that the election was marred by monumental fraud, Mr. Falana has opined that the Supreme Court could be approached by the APC to review its judgment on the endorsement of the election of Mr. Fayose since it is trite law that any judgment obtained by fraud is liable to be set aside.”

Dismissing the allegation of inconsistency, Falana said that he, like many other Nigerians, did not know that the election was marred by irregularities — hence his earlier position that the election was won by Fayose.

Falana added, “However, in recent time, earth-shaking revelations have been credited to those who took part in the illegal use of armed soldiers to manipulate the election in favour of Mr. Fayose.

“When the revelations of Captain Sagir Koli who recorded the conversation of the electoral bandits, including the altercation between General Aliyu Momoh and Mr. Fayose were published last year, there were denials by the dramatis personae.”

But Fayose said Falana was attacking his administration because he was frustrated by his inability to realise his ambition of governing Ekiti State.

A statement by the Special Assistant to Fayose on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka, on Thursday, denied the allegation that several unresolved murders occurred during the first term of Fayose as governor.

The statement said, “It is strange that a lawyer of Falana’s standing would keep talking about someone committing a crime over 10 years ago without him being able to get the person convicted. Oga Femi Falana is fast turning himself into a jester with his obsession of jumping on the rooftop to make noise over anything about Ayo Fayose.

“Falana did not utter a word to condemn the murder of 10 indigenes of the state that were murdered during the tenure of the APC government.

“He (Falana) can come to Ekiti and stand for election again and let’s see if he can win even the House of Assembly election in Ilawe-Ekiti, his hometown.”

Former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, has lend his voice to the criticism currently accompanying the 2016 national budget that was presented to the National Assembly last year December by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former president in his reaction to the ongoing criticism trailing the alleged payment of rent in the Aso Rock, requested to know who the landlord is.

He also advised the country’s politicians, saying: “I strongly believe our Politicians are well fed. The Aso Rock food budget should be reviewed. Aso Rock is not a place to feed Politicians.”

"I built Aso Rock and I wonder who the current Landlord is. I read a certain N22M for the payment of Aso Rock rent. Rent to who, Me or GEJ?

Former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida asked who the current landlord of Aso Rock is.
Buhari, who hammered so hard on the economic challenges facing the country following the sudden fall in crude oil prices, assured Nigerians that the budget would mitigate the effect of the unbelievable reality.

The president also promised that the budget would cut waste from government spending while its funds would be directed to public good.

But, the recent breakdown of the budget, especially the allocations made to the Aso Rock villa, ignited furious reaction from Nigerians who took to a micro blogging site (Twitter) to inquire for answers that are still in the pipeline. Some described the budget as a collection of fraudulent and frivolous allocations aimed at sustaining the flamboyant lifestyle of public officials.

The general renovation of Aso Rock guest house alone was proposed to cost N387,980,200, while furnishing the rooms in the guest house would gulp the sum of N45million. Nobody knows when the former furniture in the guest house was bought and why they should be changed now.

Speaking in an interview, Fasehun who said Buhari’s body language has failed said he (Buhari) was able to instill fear into Nigerians during his rule as Head of state because of the fear Nigerians have for the military.
“Nigerians who cheered the president before the elections are now jeering him because things have gone from bad to worse.

“I think Buhari’s body language is no longer working. He was lucky to have ruled this nation as a soldier and every Nigerian fears the military government. They will have stable electricity to illuminate their environments, school fees will be paid easily, minimum wage will be paid and so on”.

“But tell me, which of these things I have mentioned have we experienced since Buhari came into office? It may sound like criticizing him but we are actually telling him that so far, not so good”.
“He still has more than three years to go so there is plenty of time for him to change. I am happy that the leaders of this country that have spines are telling those in government that this is not what Nigerians expected”.

“We all know things were bad. We didn’t expect things to be worse. Some Nigerians are jubilating because the dollar has appreciated to almost N300. That clearly shows that there is no improvement in our situation”

Also speaking on the loots recovered by the Buhari administration so far, Fasehun said Nigerians deserve to know how much has been recovered so far and the monies are being spent.

“Daily, we hear that people are returning billions as a result of plea bargaining but Nigerians are not seeing the effect of that money. I believe he will do better if he shows us where this money is being paid and how the money is being spent” he said.

What is the essence of budgeting 3.8b naira for aso rock clinic when they all have their private physicians abroad?

Buhari was made PTF boss to build and equip Nigerian hospitals in the 80s...he squandered the fund.

Now he's on board, going to UK for arthritis and HBP treatment.

Same with Tinubu who runs to abroad for Parkinson and rheumatic diseases
