The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC on Wednesday announced the operational shutdown of the Port Harcourt and Kaduna Refineries owing to crude supply challenges arising from recent attacks on vital crude oil pipelines. A statement by the Corporation informed that the plants were shut simultaneously on Sunday after the Bonny-Okrika crude supply line to the Port Harcourt Refinery and the Escravos-Warri crude supply line to the Kaduna Refinery suffered breaches. The NNPC stated that before the closure, the Port Harcourt Refinery was recording a daily PMS yield of over 4.1 million litres while Kaduna Refinery was posting a daily petrol production of about 1.3 million litres. The statement noted that the Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company, WRPC is still on stream and producing a little above 1.4 million Litres of petrol per day. The Corporation however assured that it has put in place strategies to guarantee unimpeded country-wide availability of petroleum products. “In response to the unexpected setback, we have activated comprehensive remedial measures to sustain the prevailing stability in the supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country,” the NNPC said. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2016/01/20/pipeline-sabotage-nnpc-shuts-port-harcourt-kaduna-refineries/ |

Who doesn't know Buhari is a bloody jihadist |
When Buhari categorically stated that he will not be treating a certain tribe that gave him 5% of votes equally with those that he opined gave him 95%, some of us patriotic and concerned citizens raised an alarm on the impending sheer favoritism and hatred on the Igbos. But today we have started witnessing in dismay the utter disregard and ill-treatment of the Igbos ranging from the unprovoked killing of Igbos protesters to the recent Metuh case. It is unfortunate that a person in the status of Olisa Metu should be handcuffed while attending court trial while Dasuki the major suspect walked majestically into the court premise freely. Also pitiful that our judiciary system has been hypnotized by present government. President Muhamadu Buhari has assumed absolute power that no one dares him any more. In as much as war against corruption is supported but this kind of treatment is mean and bad. I condemn it in totality. All corrupt politician should be brought to book regardless of their party affiliation but without any form of preferential treatment.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olisa Metuh, on the condition that he pays N400 million as bond. Mr. Metuh is to also submit his international passport, and must provide two sureties with N200 million each. The sureties must have properties in Maitama district of Abuja. The PDP spokesperson was taken to court on Tuesday in handcuffs. He is accused of receiving N400 million from an arms money diverted by the office of the National Security Adviser. Mr. Metuh has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for about two weeks. Soon Jonathan will be blamed for the shameful fall of the naira |
Professor Isaac Adewole, the minister of health has blamed the current Lassa fever outbreak on the failure of the past administration led by Goodluck Jonathan, to implement a roadmap on health drawn up in 2012. Adewole disclosed this to the Senate Committee on Health seeking information on the latest outbreak of the Lassa fever viral disease in Nigeria, NAN reports. Describing the current outbreak as a national embarrassment, he said the virus would have been defeated by now if there had been the political will to implement a roadmap designed in 2012 to forestall future occurrence. The health minister said: “In 2012 we recorded 1,723 cases, after that, because of the severity, the post Lassa fever outbreak workshop took place and an action plan to ensure this will never happen again was put in place. “But this action plan was never implemented because it was never funded.” READ ALSO: 10 Important Things To Know To Save Yourself From Lassa Fever Outbreak According to him, they would soon begin testing on a new potential vaccine to prevent the outbreak and spread of Lassa fever virus in the country, Adewole, who put the current number of cases at 129, said though there was no preventing vaccine, early detection would guarantee better chance of survival. “We will concentrate on prevention because currently, there is no vaccine, but as of today, I have been notified of a candidate vaccine which we will put through chemical trial to find out if it would work. We call it a candidate vaccine and we would want to run it through trials and that takes some time,” he said. Last week, the health minister called on health workers at all levels to be more vigilant and look out for patients with symptoms of Lassa Fever. The viral disease has reportedly killed 41 persons out of 93 reported cases across 10 states of the federation. About three days ago, a 25-year-old student from the Ahmadu Bello University was diagnosed with Lassa Fever at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba. Last week, a doctor identified as Dr Levi Njamala at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital, old GRA, Port Harcourt was said to have died of the disease. https://www.naij.com/700196-jonathan-blame-current-lassa-fever-outbreak.html |

Before you know it, they are on solidarity visits, then the pet projects which is an avenue to siphon funds. Office of first lady through back door....Buhari and his household are all thieves |
Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, on Monday presided over a meeting aimed at restructuring the Governors Wives’ Forum. At the meeting held inside the First Lady’s Conference Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, Mrs. Buhari said the fact that the constitution did not expressly provide any role for wives of the presidents, governors and other office holders did not mean they couldn’t make a difference in the lives of those who needed it. She said the forum served as a platform for the women to support their husbands as they strove to bring about the promised change. She said, “As wives of political office holders, we must continue to do our best in contributing to the success. “I believe in our little ways, we can assist them to bring succour to the populace, especially those in need such as victims of insurgency in the North East and other forms of violence, physically challenged and other vulnerable groups. “It is on this note I felt it is important for us to come together to strengthen our unity and extend our solidarity to each other under a common platform. “There, we need to develop strong leadership structures in the two regions not only in one as the case with the already known Northern Governors Wives Forum of the country.” Mrs. Buhari said the need for the restructuring of the two regional forums would encourage networking, cooperation and constructive partnership. She said since as wives and mothers, their roles had always been supportive, their private efforts must be geared towards programmes that would impact positively on the lives of citizens particularly the less privileged members of the society. She explained that as women, they have the capacity of turning around the socio-economic and political potential to generally improve the lives of the people. The President’s wife identified areas of concern to include widowhood rites, female inheritance rights, female genital mutilation, early marriages, violence against women and children, high maternal mortality as well as women economic empowerment. Mrs. Buhari also noted the pathetic situation in the Internally Displaced Persons camps housing children whose parents were killed by insurgents. She also stressed the need for the governors’ wives to mobilise people towards understanding and supporting government programmes so that there would be positive changes in the country. http://www.punchng.com/aisha-buhari-restructures-governors-wives-forum/ |

I am quite certain this thread will never make front page because its like a thunderous wind capable of eroding the decade-long lies of Igbos being the mastermind of the said coup |
If this country continues like this, I am afraid many will be renouncing their citizenship in the nearest future For how long shall the citizens be fed with lies instead of the clean breast of matters ![]() |
Lies and propaganda will never last forever..... The coup was partly to overthrow the govt of that time; but was also meant to release Chief Obafemi Awolowo and handover power to him. How then could it be termed Igbo coup. Same coup was also foiled by two Igbos; Gen Ironsi and Lt. Col Odumegwu Ojukwu. The participants were hailed until some hateful and blood-thirsty elements masterminded the rumour that it was an Igbo coup even when every body in the military termed the participants as heroes of Nigerian destiny and therfore should be rewarded for such courageous interruption and intervention outplay. What a regretable falsification and supression of the national truth. |
Now take a look at the list of the major participants in ’66 coup plotters and render your own judgement: 1. Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu (Delta Igbo) 2. Major Adewale Ademoyega (Yoruba) author of “Why we struck” 3. Capt. G. Adeleke (Yoruba) 4. Maj. Ifeajuna (Igbo) 5. Lt. Fola Oyewole (Yoruba) author of “The reluctant rebel” 6. Lt. R. Egbiko(Esean) 7. Lt. Tijani Katsina(Hausa/Fulani) 8. Lt. O. Olafemiyan(Yoruba) 9. Capt. Gibson Jalo(Bali) 10. Capt. Swanton(Middle Belt) 11. Lt. Hope Harris Eghagha (Urhobo) 12. Lt. Dag Warribor(Ijaw) 13. 2nd Lt. Saleh Dambo(Hausa) 14. 2nd Lt. John Atom Kpera(Tiv). So, to an unbiased observer, what evidence can one provide to show that Igbos actually carried out the coup in order to exterminate other tribes and take over the country? It is very easy to sell falshood, but it is very difficult to provide facts to buttress your claims. It is now clear even to a suckling, that the imperialist genocidists crammed up this murderous lies against the Igbos to find reasons to perpetually keep them under hate. One even wonders why the nigerian state and perpetrators of the gruesome genocide have been preventing the proper documentation of that episode forthe benefits of her posterity. |

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was Thursday (January 14th) honoured by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. He was awarded with the Presidential Award in recognition of his leadership in advancing human rights, social justice and the fight for universal freedom. The SCLC, founded by the late American Civil Right leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, in January 1957 is currently led by Dr. Charles Steele Jr. The event is part of the activities leading up to the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Former President Jonathan is the first African leader to be so honored. Dr. Jonathan also received Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s sister, Naomi King during the event. Before his remarks at the event, Dr. Jonathan met privately with the president of the SCLC. The president of the SCLC, Dr. Charles Steele Jr proposed to work with the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation to advance the cause of peace around the world and to bridge the gap between people of color in the Diaspora and Africa. Former President Jonathan responded that his vision is to help stabilize and promote democracy and peace in Africa. He went on to say that without peace you can not have economic progress. JonathanLutherHe revealed that this was the reason he pushed for Nigeria’s intervention to ensure peace in various African nations such as Côte d’Ivoire while he was in office. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and President Steele then agreed to collaborate along the lines suggested by the former Nigerian President. At the event, former President Jonathan expressed his gratitude to the SCLC for inviting him and declared that it was “virtually impossible to separate this worthy body from its founder, the late great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, or from epoch making landmark events of the American Civil Rights movement”. He also said “My personal takeaway from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, is service to God and the brotherhood and equality of all men before their Creator. In keeping with that, I have learnt not to look up to any man, except he is taller than I, or to look down on a fellow mortal, except I am admiring his shoes”. Former President Goodluck Jonathan is the Chairman of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation and is in Atlanta, Georgia, on the invitation of a number of US institutions. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/01/15/601401/ |

Nigerian law enforcement agencies have an immediate duty to arrest a former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, and produce him in court, after a judge on Thursday ordered his arrest, a government lawyer charging him for corruption has said. Judge Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court said an arrest warrant had to be issued after Tompolo failed to respond to invitations to appear before the court. The judge said the process of compelling a defendant to appear before a court is to first serve him a summons. “When he fails to appear, the other way to compel his compliance is by way of arrest,” said Mr. Buba. “The court is in the position to order the warrant for the arrest of Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, and shall be issued forthwith,” he said. Festus Keyamo, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said a summons was served on Mr. Ekpemupolo at his home in Warri on Wednesday. “We obtained an order from this court two days ago and we were able to go to Warri yesterday and pasted at his gate as ordered by the court,” said Mr. Keyamo. Mr. Keyamo applied, under Section 131 of the Administration of Criminal Justice, 2015, for the issuance of an arrest warrant for Mr. Ekpemupolo. “The first accused person (Mr. Ekpemupolo) has consistently, even at the point of investigations, spurned all invitations to make statements,” he said. “He even took out a paid advertisement saying nobody should push him to war. In a country with laws? That’s why we are applying for a warrant for his arrest, to let us know if he’s an outlaw.” Mr. Keyamo told journalists outside the court room that it would be up to the law enforcement agents to ensure Mr. Ekpemupolo’s presence at the next adjourned date. “It’s left to the law enforcement agencies to effect his arrest. One individual cannot be bigger than the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said. “It’s as simple as that, though it is for them to prove that they are, in fact, in charge of law enforcement in the country.” Mr. Ekpemupolo and Patrick Akpobolokemi, the former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, are accused of a multibillion naira fraud at the agency. Others charged alongside the duo are Global West Vessel Specialist Ltd, Odimiri Electrical Ltd, Kime Engozu, Boloboere Property and Estate Limited, Rex Elem, Destre Consult Ltd, Gregory Mbonu, and Captain Warredi Enisuoh. Joseph Nwobike, counsel to Patrick Akpobolokemi, the former Director-General of the National Institute for Maritime and Safety Administration (NIMASA), pleaded for more time for Mr. Ekpemupolo to appear before the judge. “He was served just yesterday and in the interest of justice he may, perhaps, need some time to come to court,” said Mr. Nwobike, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Mr. Nwobike urged the judge to use his discretion before issuing the summons. But the judge argued that a substituted service is not granted when an individual is easily accessible. Six defendants, including Mr. Akpobolokemi who limped into the court room in crutches, were present during Thursday’s proceedings. Mr. Akpobolokemi, who is also facing two other multibillion naira fraud cases, was bundled into a waiting bus by EFCC operatives last December after he refused to follow them to their office for questioning. His lawyer made a subtle attempt to bring the incident to Mr. Buba’s attention but the judge said he only knew about what transpired in his court room. Mr. Nwobike said his client was almost detained by the EFCC save for the intervention of Rotimi Williams, another EFCC prosecutor. “If I had not put my name down, he would not have been released. Whenever they want his (Mr. Akpobolokemi) presence, they can let me know.” The judge told the counsel he could “never” be a surety to an accused person. “Let us not get the wrong impression that counsel is a surety for an accused person,” he said. The judge adjourned the matter till February 8. “I have not remanded anybody. If you are on remand, remain on remand. If you came from home, go back to your home. Make sure you are present on the next adjourned date,” he said. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/196741-tompolo-not-bigger-than-nigeria-he-must-be-arrested-keyamo.html |
