frank317: Guy pls do nt listen to all these people asking u to leave the job. They are nothing but haters who would prefer u to be as jobless are they are. They want to use God to decieve you to leave your job. If it wasn't God that gave you this job the who did? U had no job but to do what u did, if God wanted to punish u he would have allowed u not to succeed. Its ur destiny to make it like this. Don't allow haters to make u make urself jobless
You sat in your room and call some persons jobless? People like you are carrying files in another man's office and he is giving you some small change as salary and you come here to make noise. May be i should call you a jobful man since others are jobless to you.

Why dont you tell a rapist that if God didnt want him to rape he wouldnt have allowed him have access to the girl he raped. Also tell an armed robber that if God didnt like what he was doing he wouldnt have allowed him to succeed in the robbery. And tell boko haram that if God didnt like what they are doing he wouldnt have allowed them succeed in their bombings.

Go and work on your brain.

Freest: Greetings my people. Though i created this thread before, still had to bring it up here because it disturbs me some how, and Please i really need your suggestions.
Graduated two years ago from a popular higher institution and have been without a job which made life uneasy until recently a friend called and told me of a job secured with high connections. I applied and was called for interview. That same day, we were asked to come with a filled copy of our forms signed by a chief judge. My friend had already signed his, but i had no such connection nor the huge cash being demanded for at that time by the legal practitioner to append his signature, and afterall the clock was ticking on me as it was needed asap. Since i am very good with computer, i scanned and edited the Judges stamp and signature from my friends document and placed it on mine. Finally i got the job. But now, after a whike working with this guys, i don't feel good with myself. The fear that am gonna get caught is eating me up, since that is a criminal offence, not just with an ordinary citizen but impersonating a legal practitioner, and also my faith in God, as this is a Sin against God. Now am in dilemma as to what to do. A part of me wants to go and meet the judge, tell him everything that happened and apologize damning the consequences that will result from my actions. The other part wants to just keep quiet, and continue with the job knowing that i have asked God for mercy. This job has helped me alot. Helped my family too, makes me look like a man and i really dont wish to loose it. I need candid advice and suggestions please. Thanks alot!!!
Bro don't be deceived by the devil. You must have to make restitutions both to the company and to the judge. First of all pray God to help and guide, protect and favour you by his mercies.

Secondly go to the judge and tell him what you did then finally go to the company and confess too.

The eternal destiny of your soul is more important than whatever gain of this world.
Romans 8:18.
18 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us".

You may even be surprised that the turn out will favour you more than you think. Satan can put fear to deny you God's favour and heaven at last. May God help you. Amen

asalimpo: tryg to convince you (when he knows ur motive is cynical and his effort is futile)!
Bro there is nothing like trying to convince him here. Conviction of atheists is not done by anybody but by the holy spirit himself. Go and read the testimonies of atheists who got born again and you will see that almost all of them were convinced personally by God and not by argument with anybody so thats my stand. Let God do the conviction.

I have my reasons of discussing with atheists. Sometimes hard questions posed to you leads you into more research and findings. If you think i am arguing with him so as to see who will win then you are getting it all wrong. And if you can go through threads opened by atheists here you will hardly see me there. Its only threads with challenging topics that i feel can prompt me into more research/studies that i engage in. Feel free to take your own stand as it pleases you. Whether he is mocking God or not is left for God to handle in his best way. God did not ask us to defend him. ROMANS 12:19.
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m):
Liveair: Good. This is another angle to it.
Does this mean he is only Omnipotent with regards to his recorded creation and not concerning himself?
His omnipotency is what makes him indestructible. It is that unlimited power that makes him infinite, unchangeable therefore cannot be extinguished. If God is finite just like you and i physically. If he can be destroyed then he cant be omnipotent. Thats why i said its your ability to win that makes you a winner.

Is giving to God restricted to giving to our pastors and church?

A look at Matthew 25:34-46 gives gives another perspective on how to give to God.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Its worrisome to see some people give hundreds of thosands of naira to our pastors while neglecting the least of the brethren who is in need of just 10,000 naira. The least of the brethren who has no money to pay for his school fees.

We dash out new cars to pastor who already has several flashy cars in his garage while neglecting the least of the brethren who might need a fairly used car for cab business.

We have several estates on rent yet we can't dedicate one of our estates or building to habour the least of the brethren who don't have shelter.

We eat and waste food in our houses while the least of the brethren has nothing to eat.

Jesus said, when you don't do this to the least of the brethren, you are not doing it for me. Would you like to please Christ or to please your church/pastor? May God help us to give as Christ instructed us. Amen.

Liveair: My point; If there is something he cannot do, according to you, he can't put himself out of existence, how is he Omnipotent.
Actually, you have already answered the question.
And i ask you, what makes you a winner? Is it your ability to lose or to win? How does God extinguishing himself from existence make him omnipotent? God's omnipotent nature is about his unlimited power over his creation not his power to extinguish himself. As for himself, he has said it in Malachi 3;6- I am the Lord, I change not.

He cant change his infinite nature, his never-dying-nature. It is the flesh that is created to die and be extinguished. The spirit (which is the undying part of man also lives on even when the flesh is dead). God is a spirit. Spirits can be tormented but they cant die. In the scripture you ll hear some evil spirit in a person asking Jesus- why have you come to torment us?

Was it to learn and be educated or just for the fun of inciting dry debate?
Such questions are not bad if the questioner is not doing it with the intention to abuse God. Though in his own case i cant say his true intentions for sure.
Nevertheless, I like attending to his thread because such questions as this makes you reason far and study the scripture more. I may not agree with some of his submissions but at the end of the day my understanding of God becomes clearer and my faith in him grows stronger.

Feel free to make input bro. Dont see it as a debate or a fight rather see it as a discussion with a friend. Thats the way i see it. I just see it that we are rubbing minds together. Thats all. It doesnt mean that we must agree.

Liveair: You see, you earlier said "...HE CAN'T UNCREATE HIMSELF 'cos he did not create himself.

Check the meaning of Omnipotent.
You said he should use his almighty power to wipe himself out. How possible is that. The suicide bomber you gave as an example made use of a more destructive power. What is that power that is beyond the almighty power of God? Thats the only power that can wipe him out.

And yes, God was not created that's why he has no beginning and no end. Creation involves planning and takes a process but God did not come to be through this. His nature did not pass through creation. He is not a product of creation. So the issue of uncreating himself does note even arise. You ddont uncreate what was not created. The scripture never told us he was created or he evolved through a process. He has been there even before time, days and dates came into existence.

Again the nature of God is an infinite nature, a never-dying nature so the issue of him wiping himself out is just not there.

How is he not?

What makes you a winner? Is it your ability to lose or your ability to win?
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 1:12am On Sep 09, 2014
Liveair: Maybe his Almighty Power. Don't you think so?
His almighty power is part of him and the thing that makes him who he is. It will only take a power higher than his to wipe him out. And of course if there is any such power, he wouldn't have been who he is. .

Again God didn't call himself into existence (as he did to his creations) so he can't call himself out of existence. He wasn't created so he can't uncreate himself.
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 8:14pm On Sep 08, 2014
Liveair: Hahaha, I thought I was doing the questioning. Anyway, yes, people have killed, destroyed and obliterated themselves; suicide bombers are doing so.
But again, I am not Omnipotent.
For you to destroy yourself it takes something that can destroy you to do that. What is that thing that can destroy God which he will have to employ just like in the case of the suicide bomber to destroy himself(wipe himself out of existence)?
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 5:33pm On Sep 08, 2014
Liveair: Wow! Its not me bro, am explaining to you what your bible says. That's why I quoted those passages for you to see the difference.
Biblically, God never has to leave his throne but can have his manifested presence or glory where he pleases.

Isaiah 63:9;
"In all their affliction he was afflicted, and THE ANGEL OF HIS PRESENCE saved them..."
There were places angels carried out assignments for God. Of course that's their duty. But the places I quoted shows it was God that manifested himself in that form. God has the power to manifest himself in whichever way he wants and feels ok for whatever message he wants to deliver. We can't describe God enough. Even Ezekiel couldn't give a definite description of him.

Now back to your OP. I ask- can you destroy yourself? I mean can you wipe yourself from the surface of the earth?
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 12:43pm On Sep 08, 2014
Liveair: Like I said earlier, there is a difference between when the bible says THE LORD and THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD or MANIFESTED PRESENCE. His presence is a manifestation which is seen as Clouds, Fire and Thunder.

Ezekiel and Daniel saw THE LORD on his throne!
His form, his hair, his clothing, his feet were seen. In the cases of the Israelites you mentioned, they saw his MANIFESTED PRESENCE.
Ezekiel and Daniel never said God appeared IN ...

Num 12:5 which you sited states that God descended IN THE PILLAR OF CLOUD...
Why do you think it didn't simply say GOD DESCENDED? The use of the preposition IN should make it clear that its his manifested presence.

Exo 19 & 24 you sited even makes it easier to see. It says THE GLORY of the Lord...fire. That is clear enough.

Now, read Exo 33:14;
"and he said, My PRESENCE shall go with thee..."
You can now see clearly that God told Moses that his presence shall go with them.
So you are separating the presence of God from God himself? Why do you think so?

Liability: warning: this is a true life story about me. It is also a bit long. Bear with me and read it till the end.

4 years ago was like a dream. But that dream was shattered by me as a result of my actions. To some extent i blamed mySelf so much i could still cry and shed hot tears. But on the other hand i was quite honest to him.

Still basking in the excitement and euphoria of my 18th birthday, i was still love drunk with my first ''official'' boyfriend. The one i could freely hug and kiss and dream about all day and all nite. It was pure ecstasy.

But a young man came my way, i proved beyond reasonable doubt that he was truely in love with me. We live in two different cities, but this angel in the skin of a man was ready to risk everything for me. He called me almost everyday, sent me recharge card without my asking him, somethings he gave me pocket money for my upkeep.

I saw the sincerity in his eyes but i was feeling guilty inside of me. ''I must let him know what is at stake here''.

The d-day finally came, we were strolling he made mention of his love for me. After he had had his chance, i told him that i had someone i love even though am beginning to like him.

He persistent and saw everything as a challenge. I did all i could to avoid him. A day came, when he saw me with the man i loved. He couldnt stand it any longer. He stopped calling me, no text messages from him. My birthday came, he didnt message me at all. I was too scared to call him. I knew he was heartbroken but i never expected him to leave me this way.

Till date, i have not seen him. I wish to see him once again to apologise to him. He no longer use the number he gave me.

I wish...........hmmmmmmm......sigh heavily.

Quite stu.pid of you. The one you said you loved was not married to you yet you used him to scare this one away. Do you know what it means to be single? When you are single dont live like a married woman. As a single lady you dont rush to stick to only one man. By this i dont mean you sleep around.with men, When you are single, its a time to weigh the men as they are coming and the one who finally takes you to the altar is the one you throw in your heart to and stick. You girls should get rid of this foolishness. You owe no guy any 100 percent loyalty as long as you are single. Next time be wise.

Liveair: You are mixing things up.
Daniel and Ezekiel didnt experience a manifested presence as you said, they saw God in Visions.
Now, there is a great difference btw God's Angels appearing in different forms and God Himself.
The pillar of fire (a manifestation) you mentioned was an Angel of God's presence according to the bible. Same Angel described in Rev 10:1.

The various individual accounts in the bible express similar features repeatedly; Snow-white hair, Shining loins, Dazzling white robe, Fiery feet and River-like Voice. Now, this is the biblical God ask He is.
Numbers 12:5

5 Then the Lord descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle.[b] “Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward

Exodus 19:9

9 Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will come to you in a thick cloud, Moses, so the people themselves can hear me when I speak with you. Then they will always trust you.”

Exodus 24:17

17 To the Israelites at the foot of the mountain, the glory of the Lord appeared at the summit like a consuming fire.
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 5:32pm On Sep 07, 2014
Liveair: Young man, this is exactly why I said you need a course in comprehension!
The four creatures are not God! That is why he described them differently as having four faces and hoofs and wings.
Did he describe God that way?
He has told you what God looks like, with hair, loins and sitting on a throne, with a loud voice like many waters and wearing a white robe as white ask snow.

John 14:4
"...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then show us the Father".
Jesus is explaining here that he is exactly as the father, both in qualities and appearance.
Liveair: You seem to be agreeing yet refusing to conceed that the description is that of God.
If a friend of yours says that he saw someone that looked like you somewhere, doesn't that tell you what the person looks like?
Of course its the closest words they can use for the description because that is what it looks like.
Why didn't they use goat, sheep, cow, etc? Because he doesn't look that way period!
The description was God, no doubt, but that description was according to how he(Ezekiel) saw it like he said. Yet God appeared in a pillar of cloud in some other places and pillar of fire in some other place in the bible. What i'm saying is that the shape of God is not restricted to one particular shape. He manifests in various ways. Its not like the case of man that you can say this is exactly how man looks (e.g. he has two eyes, two ears, two hands, two legs etc).
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 2:23pm On Sep 07, 2014
Liveair: Do goats sit on thrones?
Ezekiel 1:26 says his appearance is like unto a man.

This is clear enough so stop beating about the bush and address the main issue on the thread.
Must every being that is not man be an animal?

The same Ezekiel 1:5-8 still said the other four creatures had the appearance of man. Yet it said that each of them had four faces and four wings. Their feet straIght. The sole of their feet like a calf.

Each of the four faces they had were different from the other. One was the face of a man, the right side is the face of a lion, the left side the face of an ox and the fourth face is that of an eagle. All the four in each of those beings that were described as appearing in the likeness of man.

Now is this how you appear? Which human being on earth is like that?

Appearing in the likeness of man doesn't mean they are exactly the way we are. Its just the closest word they can use to describe what they ve seen.
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 12:03pm On Sep 07, 2014
Liveair: Daniel 7:9; KJV
"And I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the ANCIENT OF DAYS did sit, whose garment was as white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne like fiery flame and wheel as burning fire".

.
So how does this describe the shape of God? He talked about his hair only then the throne. .
Christianity EtcRe: If God Is Omnipotent, Can He... by alexleo(m): 11:53am On Sep 07, 2014
Liveair: Maybe your bible isn't clear enough or you don't undeestand it.
Ezekiel 1:1; KJV
"Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year...The heavens were opened, and I saw VISIONS OF GOD".
Notice that it doesn't say visions FROM God.
v26;
"Above the Firmaments that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne,...as the appearance of a man above upon it".
v28;
"And i saw...of his loins even upwards and...loins even downwards...".

Anyone who understands english can see that Ezekiel saw God in a vision and was describing him there.

Ezekiel and Daniel described what God (even used tge word Ancient of Days) looks like in their own word while John described Jesus.

Next time don't say there was no description of God's Physical appearance in the bible.
26 Above this surface was something that looked like a throne made of blue lapis lazuli. And on this throne high above was a figure whose appearance resembled a man. 27 From what appeared to be his waist up, he looked like gleaming amber, flickering like a fire. And from his waist down, he looked like a burning flame, shining with splendor. 28 All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the Lord looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.

Here he said-

1. He saw what looked like a throne.
2. A figure whose appearance RESEMBLE that of man.
3. What appeared to be his waist.
4. From that waste down was like fire of shining splendour.
Finally he said- this is what the glory of God looked like to me. He didn't say that's how God looks. But in his own description.

And I ask, does this description look like a human being like you and I?

Liveair: Ezekiel 1:4-28, Daniel 7:9-10
Revelation 1:13-18
Ezekiel 1:4-28 was talking about some creatures/beings and also described the throne of God. It didn't describe the shape of God.

Daniel 7:9-10

Didn't describe the shape of God and it didn't suggest that God looks like man. In verse 13 he said he saw one who looked like man. If God looked like man he wouldn't have needed to describe the one he saw as "looked like the son of man". He would ve described him as looking like the ancient of days(God).

Revelation 1:13-18

Is talking about Jesus. That's why he said he's the one who was dead and now alive in verse 18. God did not die, it was Jesus that God gave us(John 3:16). Jesus is not God rather the son of God but they are united in purpose and everything. When Jesus was baptized God said this- "This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased"

Liveair: Haven't you read the books of Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Revelation? They all described God and his shape, so you are wrong to say the bible did not give his shape.

By the way, even Genesis says man is made in his image. What do you think that means?

As for his characteristics and attributes which you mentioned, that changed drastically from old to new testament. Even a child can observe that in the bible.
I told u that he made manifest himself in various forms at different places. That alone shows you he doesn't have any particular shape or form you can say he is. But if you say the bible described his shape pls quote the exact places and let's take it from there.

Liveair: God CANNOT even change...?
You may want to reconsider this stance, or IS THIS YOUR FINAL ANSWER?
when we talk about God we dont talk about his shape or form because none of us has seen him. The bible did not give us his shape. In the scripture he manifested as a pillar of cloud at one time and at another time he manifested as fire burning in the bush etc. We describe God just based on his characteristics/attributes as written in the bible. He can manifest himself through any medium. It is his characteristics that make him God. Those attributes cannot cease to exist and thats what is meant by he cannot change.

There was something about the tone he used to ask me that question. I tried to change the topic but he kept bringing it up. I told him I will answer on Sunday. I have thought hard enough but can't explain Joseph's role to him.
