Citizens Supporting Citizens Commence Community Outreach Program, Visit Villages As The Seek Continuous Intervention

In communities across Nigeria and especially in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, a new and proactive campaign may have commenced to bridge the social gap of awareness on the relative challenges created from the lack of basic amenities, the daily struggles faced by Nigerians in accessing infrastructural dis-benefits, as well as the direction of action needed to effectively manage the economic problems which the lockdown may have created. In this view, a community outreach program tagged "Citizens Supporting Citizens", has visited Zhiko, a community, bordering Niger state and Saburi 1village, both in the FCT.

Poised with the vision of creating hope, touching lives, educating people in remote areas and ensuring that underprivileged societies receive infrastructural interventions, Mr. Benson Samuel and Vivian Oduah Co-founded Citizens Supporting Citizens community outreach program.

During their recent visit to Zhiko, a very remote community in FCT, the co-Founder, Vivian Oduah, expressed concerns at the economic challenges which the Covid19 pandemic may have impacted on the wellbeing of underprivileged persons in the community, as they distributed palliatives, which included facemasks, foodstuffs and disinfectants to support them. The people were also educated in some basic areas that could help make their lives healthier, especially for the ageing population and children.

According to reports garnered, it was quite an adventurous task trying to locate Zhiko community, as there wasn't any good or motorable road network to the remote village. On reaching the village, the Team of CSC paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Zhiko Community, HRH Bulus K. Wakili. Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Zhiko, the Secretary of the Palace, Mr. Philip Yohanna appreciated the CSC Team and commended them for extending such love and care to the people of Zhiko, he thanked them and prayed for God's blessing upon them. He also took them to the households of very impoverished homes and showed them all the areas of infrastructural dilapidation and challenges which community is faced with.

In another visit by Members of Citizen Supporting Citizens community outreach program, they arrived at Saburi 1 Village in FCT, but was indeed disappointed at the level of development, dilapidated infrastructures and sufferings which the people struggle through everyday. During the visit, Mr. Benson Samuel, a co-Founder of CSC, who was emotionally disturbed expressed worries. He stated that it was a shame to have such communities still existing in Nigeria, the so-called giant and Africa and in Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria.

Mr. Benson and the entire CSC team have called on philanthropists, individuals, NGOs, local institutions, international organizations and even government bodies to explore the channels and findings of CSC through their community outreach programs to communities across Nigeria, by touching the lives of those who are really in need. He had earlier noted that CSC maybe unable to afford or shoulder all the responsibilities of people across the several communities and villages which would continue to visit.

As global and local efforts are currently being made to provide sustainable cure to the recent Covid19 pandemic, the executive Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has for the first time received a delegation of royal traditional Chiefs from the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, who presented a curative herbal medicine for Covid19. The delegation was received at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Abuja today, Friday 19th June 2020.

The reception of traditional rulers by the Honourable Minister of health was premised on discussions surrounding the invention of a new herbal cure for Coronavirus in Nigeria. According to reports this is first time the honourable Minister of Health will be giving any official audience to curative herbal provisions to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The delegation was led by His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Tokunbo Awosunke, who was accompanied by Prince Ishola Olatunbosun, Dr Oloruko Oba Fagunroye, Alexander Ajagbonna and a traditional medicine Expert, Dr Oloruko Oba Adekunle Sumbo from Dr. White Ethannopharma Nigeria Limited in Osun State. During the meeting, the Honourable Minister Health, Dr. Osagie Ohanire, commended the Ooni of Ife and other traditional rulers for their efforts and concerns in the national combat against the hydra-headed Coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking during the meeting with the honourable Minister of Health and Directors of the Federal Ministry of Health, HRM Oba Babatunde Tokunbo Awosunke, on behalf of the Ooni of Ife. He noted that the need to develop the new herbal curative medicine was in-view of inccessant deaths of his people. He told the minister that his message from the Ooni of Ife was an assurance of his continued interest supporting the the war against Covid19 in Nigeria, which he earlier commenced by acquiring and developing locally made fumigators, which where being used in palace and communities across the state.

Prince Ishola Olatunbosun, another traditional ruler stated emphatically that the curative herbal medicine developed by his team was already undergoing the necessary processes, which includes NAFDAC registration, listing and other constitutional requirements.

While highlighting the effectiveness of the invention, Mr. Prince Olatunbosun on behalf of the traiditional rulers seeked the direction and support from the Ministry of Health on how best the invention can be effectively used to curtail the spread of Covid19 in Nigeria, especially with regards to approval.

In a reaction from Dr. Osagie, the honourable minister gave the assurance of government's interest in supporting their innovative findings and submissions, stressing that the required approval will be provided by the ministry, after all the necessary processes and medical bodies may have reviewed the herbal curative medicine which they have suggested as a cure to the virus.

Speaking during the meeting was the Director of Public Health Dr Enobong, who expressed anticipated conviction of trust, with regards to public health interest, efficiency, potency, availability and affordability of the new herbal curative medicine, which the traditional rulers where introducing to Nigeria, through the Ministry of Health. She noted that the community transmission stage of Covid19 in the country was a worrisome one and that it was pertinent to welcome sustainable solutions to prevent the spread and help affected persons in recovery.

Also speaking during the meeting was the Director, Traditional, Complimentary and Alternative Medicines Department of the federal ministry of Health, Hajiya Zainab Ujudud Sharif. She expressed commendations at the submissions of the traditional rulers and intimated them on the protocols required, before any acceptance by the federal government, through the Federal Ministry of health for approval. She encouraged him his continued commitment and adviced that a plan of action be initiated to ensure that the formula is taken to the next level for proper validation and eventual approval.

House of Rep Member , Tony Nwulu Returns To PDP , Vows To Work In Rebuilding The Party

Honourable Tony Nwulu, a former member of House of Representatives representing Oshodi Isolo, Lagos Federal Constituency who decamped to Unity Progressive Party (UPP) has officially rejoined his former party Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ).

He disclosed this in a statement he issued on Saturday in Abuja.

Nwulu had resigned his PDP membership on July 24, 2019 in accordance with Section 68 1(g) of the 1999 Constitution amended.

The lawmaker who contested the 2019 Governorship election in Imo State under the platform of UPP following a clarion call from the Imo Renewal Youth Movement.

In a letter dated June 13th 2020 signed by the Chairman PDP Oshodi Oshodi/ Isolo L.G.A Lagos State , Chief Sunday Olaifa said the party had agreed to re-admit the lawmaker back into its fold with the membership card No. 5431951.

The astute lawmaker sponsored the popular ‘Not Too Young To Run bill’ which was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said he returned to PDP in order to contribute his quota to the development of the party.

According to the lawmaker " I am returning to the PDP to contribute my quota to the rebuilding and restructuring of the party.

" I have only done one thing i returned back home and i assure the party of my unalloyed support and commitment toward building the party.

" I shall in my own own way contribute my quota to the party . Together we will build our party to an enviable height that everybody will be proud of.

A non governmental organization in Nigeria, Women Are Important Too-WAIT has continue to mount pressures for actions against rape, as it holds a peaceful protest and awareness ride in the FCT. The protest and awareness convoy by Volunteers, Partners and Members of WAIT had commenced at the Headquarters of Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development on the 9th of June 2020.

According to reports gathered by AbujaPress, volunteer Protesters and Members of Women Are Important Too-WAIT Organization, were noticed with placards in a long convoy of exotic vehicles, as they were accompanied by a large crowd of foot-protesters. They had kept chanting their grievances and public messages on the negatives of rape, with regards to the recent rape and murder of a Nigeria Nurse, Uwavera Omozuwa in Edo state.

During the protest and awareness movements, Abujapress noticed the participation of notable Humanitarian personalities whose presence were indeed significant with voluminous influence.
