Amakyzuu: I'm a construction supervisor and so have basic knowledge in a few trades especially construction related- carpentry, welding, painting, tiling, masonry, plumbing and electrical but not deep enough to be called a tradesperson. I intend penetrating their construction industry there via a skilled trade as they are well paid and I enjoy working with my hands. Construction Manager is my eventual destination but I'll love to savor the journey. The best pathway into the trades is through apprenticeship as it offers the opportunity to earn (higher than national average salary) while learning. You may want to do a little more research yourself to make an informed decision. Canada is experiencing a shortage of skilled trades at the moment and I foresee the trend continuing for a little while. I have a Master's but don't mind starting afresh and getting my hands a little dirty. Nigerians don't really seem to want to tow that line; I wonder why. Anyway all the best in your/our Canadian journey. Cheers. 10 Likes |

bbaby84: I have to retake it. I'll enter the pool meanwhile with the 1st result (with PNP in mind), remark the 2nd and register for another test. It was those yeye T,F, NG and Matching Heading questions o. Trying to save time, I had left 2 stubborn questions unanswered, planning to return after but still ran out of time before I could go back. Just as I wanted to guess and put something down, the invigilator, who was close by, stopped us and started looking in my direction. I was caught between either obeying the rules OR putting down something (with whatever consequences to follow) but unfortunately the 'good boy' inside me prevailed. It was very painful considering it was this same Reading that made me retake in d 1st place. My hands were literally on my head as they collected my answer sheet. I was demoralized and just managed to pull through the Writing section. In fact, one voice inside me said there was no need continuing with the test. I just taya! With that I knew I had goofed but was expecting I wouldn't get more than another 4 answers wrong. Unfortunately, BC thinks otherwise. 1 Like |

Finally guys, I got my IELTS results at BC office today and unfortunately nothing to celebrate at all after 2 attempts. I'm really really deflated right now but I'll keep pushing. 1st Attempt 3/11/16: LRSW 8.5, 6.5, 8.5, 7.5 2nd Attempt 8/07/17: LRSW 8, 6.5, 8, 7.5 |

Well done guys. Please I intend getting into the skilled trades- plumber or electrician precisely. Looking through job sites, I see more openings in Ontario and Quebec than in other provinces. However, I still hear more arguments in favour of settling for Alberta than Ontario. Please seniors, what are the prospects in construction/trades in both Provinces? |

twaintoy: My bro/sis, please let ur brother request a remark sharply. There's no harm in trying. A 1% chance is still a chance. I didn't apply for remark when I had LRSW 8.5, 6.5, 8.5, 7.5 and I deeply regret it because I felt it was a waste of time to remark Reading. |

taiwofola: Thanks guys, I appreciate. I did my IELTS in Abuja and I intend 'storming' their office here on Monday whether they attend to people or not. Anything short of getting my result, they will hear long sermon that day. I heard they notify via email if they intend to hold ur result for extra checks which they randomly do. Up until now, no result, no email, nothing. That test has taken away abt 4-5 nights of sleep from my eyes so far not to mention 1 or 2 bad dreams because I know I ran out of time the Reading aspect, leaving 2 questions unanswered when my answer sheet was collected. In addition, it was my 2nd attempt. I'm trying to be calm but e no easy mehn. Anyway... whoever is chooking hand in this matter will hear from God loud and clear. 3 Likes |

[quote author=femishow2005 post=58633366] Thanks so much. God Bless If i may what's the meaning of provincial nomination?[/quote Provincial Nomination is a program where a Canadian Province nominates you for permanent resident visa. It results in extra 600 points for you in the Express Entry pool to meet the cut off to be invited to apply for permanent resident visa. I suggest you read up on Express Entry and Provincial Nomination and be familiar with the processes involved. |

phf2be: No need to hurry and take it with 424 points considering the $1500 CAD involved and that NOI is now valid for 60 days I guess. Wait till it's almost few days to expire before taking it, that's if you're still not invited to apply. You may just be abt 3 or 4 draws away from direct ITA and it's worth the wait. But if u have plenny cash to splash, just go ahead. |

seunlara: You can decide to take the spouse sponsorship route or the EE route to PR. I read on CIC website that candidates with Canadian Citizen or PR spouse who choose to use EE will have their application assessed the same way as a single applicant. Their points will be based on the single applicant case, that is Age will be 110 max, Education 150 max etc. My 2 Kobo, look at whichever suits u better and faster so u can join ur spouse. |

Kontagious:Thanks for the info. I plan to assess my wife's BSc from LASU but need a little clarification. 1. How did you get your WES transcript request form to LASU without visiting? 2. Can she use her notification of result? 3. How much in total did it cost you? I know LASU uses an online portal and charges N4k for transcript. Did you pay any additional fees for courier? Cheers! |

Justiyke4u: Don't panic bro. Truth is that IELTS Listening on YouTube is harder than the real test because of the need to look at the screen and then on paper to answer. From my experience, the highest I scored on YouTube was 33/40 (7.5) but scored 8.5 in the real test last November. I generally found the real test easier and didn't even remember missing anything but my Reading spoiled my result. I'm retaking this month anyway. I think it's better to practice with YouTube and hope to have it easier in real test. Good luck! |
