Ladon7: Good mng , please i need help oooo. I have written ielts 3 times . the last time i had 7 in listening and 6 in reading, i have identified my problem in listening to be the multiple question, pls is their any technique i can apply ? will be writing in two weeks time i av practised over 40 listening but still not getting this part right pls help. Pls check @Canadianfly's post on Listening techniques for multiple choice questions. I actually tested them in my practice and it worked 100%. It's simply this: Don't bother checking the options during the recording. The answers in the options are always paraphrased and so won't jump out at u while listening and searching for answers simultaneously. Before u finish processing the answers and decoding the paraphrases, you'll be behind the recording. Rather, read only the questions, ignoring the options, and jot (very quickly) what the conversation says. During the break to check ur answers or at the 10mins after the recording, go back and compare ur jottings with the paraphrased options given. You'll see the answers staring you in the face without the distraction of the recording. You'll need to practice this a number of times to master it but trust me, IT WORKS. |

abujaniv: Hello zeya. This visa will still be valid until it's expiry. Customs and Border Patrol will determine how long you may stay lawfully in the country. Hello Abujaniv, My B1/B2 visa will expire on 6th January 2018 but I intend travelling in December 2017 and thought I should renew before travelling because my return date may be after visa expiration. I had paid the N64k fee and initiated the renewal process before realising I don't need a renewal yet. I have my Dropbox confirmation letter but no DS160 application confirmation since I haven't submitted yet. Will my visa fee still be valid for renewal after I return when the current visa would have expired? Kindly advise. Thanks |

Newmum0615: And so I have written the almighty IELTS test. Reading section was quite smooth, writing was ok, Listening not so sure but I am believing that the outcome will be favorable and as.I have prayed to God for. I wish everyone who wrote today a good result. Amen to the bolded. The Reading wasn't that bad just as you said. I'd never really struggled with Listening in previous attempts but today's recording sounded a little faster than normal that I even found myself split seconds behind the tape a couple of times. Maybe na the cold AC, I no sure I just hope it's not a new tactic by BC to 'retain customers' cos they've lost this one for good. |

ayodeji2017: Thanks mamacajah. Have you started the PNP process? what documents are needed for the Nova Scotia PNP? ALso what is PEI? sorry for my many questions but really considering this route. Thanks a lot. PEI (Prince Edward Island) is also another province in Canada. Just Google Nova Scotia PNP or PEI PNP or New Brunswick PNP and read up on their eligibility requirements. Job offers are not compulsory for those 3 but only certain occupations qualify. |

Kontagious: BC with their ways... Maybe you go to their office with documents Elfmann listed that you have. You just might be pleasantly surprised with an upgrade plus you wouldn't even know if you don't go. The upgrade as it is now carry weight pass the 15k refund. CC: sweetrie In my case, I also received an email from Abuja BC that my EOR response was ready and should visit their office for the new TRF. I wasn't told the outcome in the email. Getting to BC, I collected my TRF and had upgrades in Writing & Speaking (I had chosen to remark all modules). Also, the envelope containing my TRF had the needed forms to apply for refund and I simply did there and then. I guess it's their modus operandi in Abuja. |

enocoded4life: I am just super excited and overwhelmed right now. All glory to God because He indeed answers prayers. Just checked my IELTS results now:
Listening: 8.0 Reading: 9.0 Writing: 7.5 Speaking: 8.0
Got just what I needed in all bands to get maximum scores. CRS now stands at 453. I pray UNIPORT sends my transcript to WES today as promised so that my evaluation can be completed. Can't wait to dive into pool. From here henceforth it's from glory to glory.
Special thanks to @yimiton, @Sunvick, @Dhimmy, @Algbenguze, @Hephgirl who encouraged me to rewrite IELTS when I shared my profile and former scores (LRSW 7.5, 9, 7, 6.5). They helped me calculate my possible CRS if I got an 8 in listening and told me I had no business with PNP. Today your advice has paid off. Thank you sirs and ma'am God bless you all.
To all hopefuls keep holding on, it's just around the corner. It will end in praise. Congratulations. All the best going forward. |

mzjennypher: Hello house, From this pix it says all banks, does it mean we have to submit reference letters from all the banks we have account with? Read the screen shot again. A bank reference letter can only cover accounts you have with them. The term ALL there refers to the different accounts you have in the SAME bank issuing the letter. It even specifically gives examples- savings, current, investment (and I believe dorm accounts are also covered). GTBank letter reference cannot capture my Fidelity or Zenith account status. |

just15: @Algbenguze: please i have some questions:
*does working in a bank give you more edge and recognition than working for a one man small company in the FSW and also when you finally get to Canada to look for job(same job description in the bank and one man business) would they prefer the bank?
* please explain this 60/100 stuff, when does it apply?
*please there is also a place on CIC site i learnt the maximum experience for point is 6 years, kindly differentiate that with the 3 years maximum
Thanks
sorry for the jamb question 1. With respect to the application process, working in a bank doesn't give u an edge. In fact, I think banks are even more rigid with things like reference letters which play a key part in your application. As long as the one-man business is genuine, it's okay. A bank may give a more impressive employment profile though. Regarding 67/100 FSW thing. It works like this: For a skilled worker applying to Canada, there are 2 point-based assessment grids every candidate is measured against. First, the FSW points grid, which determines eligibility. To be eligible, you need minimum of 67 points out of 100 to qualify. It's here that 6 yrs gives max points for work experience. Second, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) grid which is mainly for the purpose of ranking the already eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool. The highest ranked candidates, based on CRS points, get invited from the pool in periodic draws using a cut-off point. It's here that 3yrs gives max points for work experience outside Canada. So in essence, eligibility is key but not every eligible candidate will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence- Only those who make the cut off. I hope it's clear now. |

PefHouse: @einsteino Really, Thanks alot.
- Won't the gap in work history be an issue? Do work experience gaps really affect points claimed for work experience? - If I move Company D, will I have enough work experience to claim maximum points? Cos i need the max.
Its unfortunate that the company I have the most experience is the one giving me reference issues.
Thank you Sir. It's personal history that shouldn't have gaps. Work history gaps are not a problem. |

PefHouse: Hi Elders in the house.
I have a question on claiming Work Experience for Express Entry Application. Some of the companies in my past experience (Nigerian work experience) have agreed to give a reference letter while others won't. Can I simply exclude the the experience that does not have a reference letter? Will a 3yr gap in my experience raise a red flag or get me rejected? I need someone who is experienced in this
Company A (3yrs experience) - reference provided Company B (8mnths experience) - reference provided Company C (7mnths experience) - reference provided Company D (3.5yrs experience) - NO reference letter Company E (2yrs experience) - reference provided
Can I exclude company D from my application? OR can I include it and NOT send any re fence letter? What are the implications. Thanks If the Company A work experience was continuous and is within last 10yrs, then use only that since 3yrs already gives max points for experience outside Canada. All others should only appear in your personal history and you'll be fine. |

wanle22: Thank you for your reply , God bless you .
I'm 31 year old. I have OND in Accounting, I also have Bsc in Banking and finance, I have 3 years of working experience
My husband has a Degree in Insurance, he is going to be 36 next year. He worked for about 2 years with a company in lagos but he is now a self employ and doing good for himself.
Not written the IELTS just yet , we are about to kick start the process by registering with the WEs for our credentials evaluation.
* about the IELTS, is it the only principal applicant that needs to write the text or spouse too?
I have 2 kids and both have a dual nationally ( USA & Nigeria )
My husband and I have good travel history, hope that helps in any form ? Starting with the last question: 1. Travel history doesn't give an edge in this journey, rather it gives u more work as you'll need to provide Police Clearance Certificate for every country you've (both u & hubby) stayed for a cumulative 6 months within last 10yrs or since 18th birthday, whichever is latest. 2. IELTS is mandatory for principal applicant. For spouse, it's optional (but advisable as it can add up to 20 points). 3. You both go ahead with WES but pls evaluate both your BSc and OND as it gives more points. |

bcashy: Thanks.....My friend is now 32 yes of age while the spouse is 26 years.....he has diploma in marine engineering , currently working in QATAR for the past four years with Ielts score of 6, 7, 7, 7....His wife has diploma in dental technology with less than 3 years work experience with Ielts score of 7, 7, 8, 6 By diploma, do you mean OND/HND? Anyway, depending on who'll be principal applicant, your friend or his wife would need to retake IELTS and score a MINIMUM of 8777 in LRSW modules respectively to stand a good chance. |

Kontagious: Q1.) If I were you, I'd just use the work experience of the three years only. The three years gives you maximum points, you then fill the rest in your personal history post ITA.
Q2.) To prove self employed, you need some paper works which isn't too much of a big deal to get but you can save yourself (your husband actually) the trouble of going through that stress as your spouse won't be awarded any point for work experience gained outside Canada. Long and short, answer No when asked if your spouse has work experience. For the degree, you have the right answer. Select ECA not done. Well said! |
