How true is it that one's application can be denied if he or she does not have travel experience?

How many countries does one need to travel to, before they can be considered to have travel experience?

Lol. In fact, the reverse is the case in this matter. We've seen that those with plenty travel history are the ones with relatively slower processing times while those who hadn't even been to any airport scale through without any ish.

I am 33 years and wife is 28.

Only office experience I had was working in church as the church office Administrator for 2 years and that was about 9 years ago.

If you can get a reference letter for the Church office administrator job, it's okay since it falls under NOC 0 and it's within last 10 years. That way, ur self employment experience would not need to be corroborated with company documents. The only issue is that you won't have max points for work experience but it may still be good enough if all other factors are on point.

Good Evening, I feel like the happiest man on earth when I discovered this trend and I have seriously been following.

I need some advise on who should be the lead applicant between me and my wife.

I have a degree but will be rounding up with my MBA by October with over 5 years working experience as a marketing executive in the banking sector.

My wife has a master's degree in Horticulture and Landscaping with no formal job experience.

I don't have any family member resident in Canada while she has her uncle living in Canada.

We are both planning to write the IELTS exam together by October.

My age is 34 while she is just 25 years old.

Kindly advise on who should be the lead applicant for us to earn more CRS score.

Regards.

If not for work experience, your wife would have been in best position to be the principal applicant. But as things are, I suggest you wait to complete your masters and apply as the principal applicant. Notwithstanding, both of you should evaluate your masters and sit the IELTS and aim for minimum band 8777 in LRSW.

Thanks guys for the great work here. This is by far the best thread I have spent days reading on Nairaland. I tried reading through the part 1 of the thread but got exhausted after 3 days, but part 2 has brought me up to speed with the do's and don'ts of applying for the express entry/ federal skilled workers program.

My question is, what is the best option for a family of 5, Husband, wife, 1st child 9 years, 2nd child 2 years and last child 7 months old.

Husband > B.Sc. Psychology, entreprenuer with a registered company since 2013. Stopped running business account since 2014, now use my personal account.

Wife > B.Sc. Social Works, Businesswoman (Mostly sells women clothes)

I initially planned applying as an international student for my M.Sc, but this will mean I will have to travel alone. But I will prefer my family travels with me, so do we stand a better chance applying as Provincial Nominee, or Federal Skilled Worker?

Please your wise advise will kickstart our journey to Canada.

Thanks

Both FSW and PNP are good options but the latter should be the last resort because it's more stressful. There are also families of 5 on this thread who have got their PR visa.
My advice: You both should do IELTS and evaluate your degrees with WES, IQAS etc. Try aiming for score LRSW 8777 minimum in IELTS to stand a good chance.
Being self employed is also not a problem, you'll just need to provide some of your company documents as proof.
You will also be looking at $26k as proof of funds.
Cheers.

I think you guys need to write the IELTS first and then do an evaluation of each of your profiles to know who'd have the highest points. My guess would be him though cos of the work experience he'll claim.

here's the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

I'll suggest the wife becomes the PA. Her 3yrs experience gives max points in Express Entry as long as she's meets FSW eligibility.

Just a reminder for those that have been told you can't get an upgrade in IELTS Listening and Reading after a remark; see attachments of 2 examples on this thread as proof that it's VERY possible. Shockingly, the least of the upgrades was a FULL band. Yeah, you heard me right- FULL BAND.

https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/255#53299484

My advice: don't hesitate to remark your IELTS Listening or Reading if your result looks questionable as I can't rule out foul play in this Naija BC. Shine your eyes!

God bless you cochtrane for your prompt response. Yes the NOC fits my job description. Thank you so much

Have you checked out this NOC: 2282 User support technicians. It's a B. Does that apply to you?

@Lovetree
With your NOC being confirmed as B, I think you should be the principal applicant since you both have Bsc as highest qualification. There'll be a whooping 35 points difference in the age factor in you being the PA rather than ur husband.
You both should do IELTS and ECA aiming for a minimum LRSW 8777 score especially for you. With that in place, you stand a good chance.

Just to give clarity on the EE & FSW mix-up for the sake of our newcomers:

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are all Canadian immigration programs, each with its own eligibility requirements, that are run through Express Entry.
Express Entry in itself is not the immigration program but rather an electronic application management medium through which the above mentioned programs are managed with quicker processing times of about 6 months or less (as against years which obtained previously), hence the word Express. Interestingly, EE also has eligibility requirements.

For anyone intending to enter the EE pool, he/she has to 1st be eligible for one of those programs as well as meet the EE eligibility requirements (e.g. minimum of CLB 7 language ability). CLB 7 is not the same as band 7 oh!

For the FSW program for example, which is what most of us are applying under, you need to score min 67/100 in their points grid assessment to be eligible. You then have to score a min of LRSW 6666 (CLB 7) to be eligible to enter the EE pool. Express Entry has it's own points grid assessment called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) but it's mainly for ranking of candidates in the pool for the purpose of selection (ITA) using a cut off point.

For work experience as an example, 6yrs gives max points under FSW assessment while it's 3yrs for Express Entry.
FSW assessment is based on a total of 100 points for all factors while it's 1200 points for EE.
Kindly note that there are still other PR immigration programs run by CIC which are managed outside the EE.
I hope it's clearer now.

Cheers.

The amount required depends on the size of your family but it's from CAD 12,500 (for singles) to as much as CAD 35,000. (For a family of 7.I think)

I think he's asking about the total expenses to be incurred from scratch and not just settlement funds.

To add to the info above, you will spend an average of N450k-N700k to cover cost of IELTS, ECA, Medicals, PCC, Courier services (before & after PPR), PR Application fee, PR card etc. The exact amount really depends on ur family size, no.of IELTS attempt, PNP vs direct ITA and a few other peculiar factors.
Note: Flight ticket cost not included.

Cheers.

Good Evening House
Please Guru I need your advice on this as it is causing chaos in my home.
In our PR application, My husband was supposed to be the PA, when we wrote Ielts, He had LRWS 7.5,7,6,6.5. I had 8.5,7,8,7 . The issue now is that he wants me to be the PA which of course was not the initial plan.
His background---
He graduated 2011, served 2012/2013. Started working and was being paid 150k. 2016, He obtained his Master's degree which we have accessed with WES and he is currently in Canny on a student Visa.

My background--
I graduated 2016, just started Nysc This month. I started working this year and my salary is 40k as a Teacher. I have accessed my B.ED with WES.

Due to the Ielts and PR requirements, who is in the best position to be PA?

Should my Husband sit for another Ielts?

Do you think I can be the PA with of course forged work experience documents?

I anticipate your candid advice.
thanks

Sis, tell ur husband I said he should pull his ears and retake that IELTS grin

Sis, tell ur husband I said he should pull his ears (na play o) and retake that IELTS since he has masters and the required work experience. Pls don't forge work experience documents for CIC, not advisable. Hopefully with good IELTS scores, he should be the PA while your ECA and IELTS will add 24 points to his CRS points.
I hope this settles the 'fight'.

Evening All, is it true that to get the max points..my husby and i have to do wes evaluation, My husby has hnd....does he get more point if evaluated by wes?Moreso i got a friend resident in calgary and we bear the same surname(Ajayi) Is there any benefit i can derive from him...he is ready to support me with any document i need. Seniors kindly help out.

1. Ur spouse can add up to 30 or 40 points to ur profile depending on whether he/she has Canadian work experience: ECA (education)- 10 max; IELTS (language)- 20; Canadian work experience- 10; Total- 40 points. Take advantage of these extra points.

2. WES gives more points for OND/HND because they evaluate it as 2 or more degrees.

3. Ur friend can't add any benefit except in the case of Provincial Nomination eligibility as proof of having ties to the Province.

4. Having the same surname is immaterial in this process except u intend to claim him as a sibling which gives additional 15 points in Express Entry. However, I strongly advise against this because it will amount to misrepresentation and besides you will have to prove the blood relationship by the birth certificates of both of you showing common parentage.

Cheers.

While waiting for response on remark and money show for hand, u can retake d test. Ur spouse may not need to if I r d principal and vice versa

Evaluate ur highest qualification which is MEng

I agree with u @MummyJaygirls. Let him remark Reading and Writing, even Speaking sef. It's the same cost and if he's unlucky with Reading, he may be lucky in either of the other 2 and get a refund. Whichever way, he won't be losing.

Please good People of Nairaland, i honestly need your advice coupled with the fact that i have so many questions before IELTS make somebody go depressed:

(1) Is there a cut-off before you can be considered to be in the pool?
Spouse and i have 414 from CRS assessment altogether from LRSW: 8.5, 6.5, 7.5,7.5 & 6, 6.5, 6, 7.

(2)Whats the possibility for reading remark to be upgraded cuz i'm not so buoyant for a re-sit.

(3) What certificates or Transcripts alike are important to be sent to WES? Cuz i have HND, BEng, MEng spouse has BSc and PGD

Q2: Ask for remark in Reading and book another test as well. Don't get discouraged by the unlikely chance of a score upgrade. I believe the unfavorable probability of success in remarking Listening and Reading is partly caused by people's reluctance to remark them in the first place. If more and more people contest their scores in L & R, the narratives may begin to change.
Go ahead, that 'slim' chance is worth the N15K. Let's begin to challenge these BC guys, otherwise we're giving them an avenue they can exploit knowing they'll likely go unquestioned. Remember, they are also in business whichever way you look at it. Nobody is a saint, believe me!

Reading: 7.0
Writing: 7.0
Speaking: 8.0

But am very sure there is error somewhere in my reading and listening score. I will wait for the actual TRF. No way i can even score less than 8.0 in reading. Will keep everyone updated

MW, Has anyone had a case of differences in the provisional online result and the actual TRF?

Wetin dey worry these IELTS and BC people sef? They are beginning to look suspicious and dodgy and smell of foul play. They had better monitored their examiners' activities to protect the exam integrity. How do you explain a 6.5 increase to 8.5 after a remark? I'm suspecting it's either they are doing it deliberately (for more profit) or some agents of darkness have infiltrated their ranks just to position themselves to delay and frustrate people's destinies. My prayer for those that may still need to sit/resit the test is that they will never have access to your answer sheet or result in Jesus' name.

Hello justwise and everybody in the house,

Please I have some question, I have someone that is very much interested In the federal skilled work, the person is a fashion designer with secondary school cert and also married with children. I notice most applicants here are graduate but in her case as secondary school cert holder .Please how do I go about assisting her in the process. Advice will be well appreciated. Thanks in anticipation of your kind response.

Your friend will have to go Provincial Nomination route. If she is able to get the CLB 7 IELTS requirement (minimum band 6 in each) to be eligible for Express Entry, then the Federal Skilled Trades route may also work. Even at that, she may still need a nomination to boost her CRS points for her to be invited to apply for PR visa. In addition, she may have to start looking at how to get some certification in tailoring/fashion designing to prove her skill if she doesn't already have one.
Sometime in May this year, IRCC conducted a Trades-specific draw with 199 points cut-off; if they keep repeating it then your friend may even have a chance without Provincial Nomination.

Hi guys,

Please I have a question o. Can a friend use her sibling with Canadian passport to gain points? Her sibling doesn't live in Canada but his wife and kids do.

Ideally, your friend can use either her brother or brother's wife; but since the condition for gaining points only applies for the PR or Citizen who is resident in Canada, your friend should use her brother's wife instead of her sibling. A sibling according to CIC in this context is either by blood, marriage or adoption.

As you have presented yourself so far, it appears you should not need help from these wonderful group of people, since CIC website has been as explicit as they can be. Like someone else has rightly pointed out, since I joined this thread I have not seen condescending comments such as yours.

For this group to continue as a family, that it has always been, you may just want to stop posting here and send your questions directly to CIC, I believer they will answer your numerous questions nicely.

I get confused about these provincial stuff. Is it the province that will invite you to apply after seeing your CRS score or can you just apply to any province just like that? How does these provincial option work? Thanks

Provincial Nominations work differently depending on the province. The end result is that they all award 600 points to the nominated candidate in order to have sufficient points to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR visa.
In addition, u DON'T get nominated without first applying for it and paying the relevant fee. Because each province has structured their nomination process and criteria differently, You will have to check the individual province's website to know their requirements and how each works.
While some are open from time to time for you to submit an application, others (Ontario for example) have to express and interest in you (based on meeting specific requirements peculiar to them) before you can submit an application for nomination. Some require a job offer to qualify while others don't. It simply just depends on the province.

I hope this clarifies it.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the good job being done here. From my perusal of this platform and other sites, I have understood that only my highest qualification needs to be assessed. But I need clarification on the questions below and I will be grateful for your prompt response.

1. Do I have to forward only my highest certificate and transcript (MBA) to WES or i need to forward my first degree certificate and transcript as well ? Kindly note that I registered only my MBA for assessment but in the
confirmation mail sent to me by WES, they listed the required documents as

a. Clear, legible photocopies of all degree certificates issued by the institutions attended.

b. Academic transcripts showing all subjects completed and all grades awarded for all years of post-secondary study.

2. What is the place of CITN and ICAN in this whole programme? Are they irrelevant? Can these professional qualifications be considered for 2 or more degree ?

Thank you.

1. Forward only documents that have to do with your MBA as that's your highest qualification. That's what I also did and I have my ECA report.

2. MBA (Masters) alone gives you more points than two or more degrees. Only a PhD can offer more points. So don't bother about the other professional qualifications.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Algbenguze: 9:28pm On Jul 30, 2017
Based on both personal experience and observations, I advise that new applicants start their PR process with ECA rather than IELTS or at most simultaneously as they are independent of each other. My reason is mainly because ECA for most people even on this thread, I inclusive, can take several months to complete. It's timeline is highly unpredictable especially with Nigerian degrees as against IELTS with a definite timeline of 2 weeks after test date.
Mine took 4 months and others take even longer if the university is not cooperating (God help you if your school is now on strike). Within that timeframe, one could easily have sat 3-4 IELTS tests with results ready.
So guys, save yourself precious time by starting with ECA and don't make the same mistake many of us made.
Just my 2 Kobo...

Hi everyone,
I have read through every comment in this thread and i have not gotten any reply that answers my burning question about migrating to Canada.

I am 23 years old, a university graduate(2013) with 2+ years work history and i VERY VERY Much want to leave Nigeria for Canada. I have been trying to process a visa since i was done with my NYSC but because of challenges like my age(then 20) or finance issue, i could not successfully process a visa.
I lost my father recently(10 months ago) n was willed a reasonable amount of money(assets which i am about to sell) that kills my finance challenge and i want to use it to process my leave for Canada BUT my age is a barrier that is holding me back(because i was told by many travel agent). Now I want to take a bold step of processing a visa on my own but i still cant do it because i feel i lack enough information.

PLEASE everyone/anyone guide me through, Should i still wait till i am old enough(27-30 + i'm one of those kids that looks older than their age) according to the agents and keep struggling in this country? OR i just man-up n run the visa independently?

For questions, i hope the information i'm giving below will give clarity and tailored response:
1. I want go in to work first because i don't have enough money to process a tertiary institution but enough to fund accommodation for 6 months, feeding and clothing for a year.
2. I have worked as a finance officer for an HR firm, a CSR for a bank, currently a Business support analyst for consulting firm and a business designer (freelance)
3. I am working on getting a invitation from friends, friends of my friends and even enemy in Canada. I don't have any family that want to help(if you know what i mean).

Please i really need guidance and helpful suggestions.. i am tired of waiting.
Thanks,

Copy and paste this your post on the thread given by Abby2017, I'm sure you will get all the guidance and info you need. From the information you've given, you stand a good chance of getting a PR visa. Also, you won't need an agent. In fact, disregard everything your 'agents' has told you and start afresh.
See you in Canada by God's grace. All the best!

Some popular trades are now becoming competitive to get in nowadays as more people are realising how well they are compensated. if u can, get in asap...
