Tnks for your prompt response Algbenguze...
What sort of access to funds would you propose.

Someone on this thread said her husband had to login to his bank account to show the officer his balance. I guess it's because they had little or no cash on them. I believe with about $4k or so cash in hand, they may just assume you have the rest somewhere within reach when needed and not bother you further.
That's my opinion though.

Dear e-family...
Please I need clarification... is it true that your POF will be verified at the port of entry...if yes... those it mean you must travel with the physical cash of 12,300 CAD?

Yes you MAY be asked to show proof of your settlement funds. You don't have to have it all on you but will need to prove that you have access to them.

Please do we include old passports with stamps and visas or only valid passports. My spouse's valid passport has no stamps but the old passport has visas and stamps.

Thanks for your response in advance.

Only the current passport is needed. They have their ways of verifying any other info they want about your travel history.

Hello everyone, I have been following this thread for sometime now and have really learnt alot. I would like to hear your thoughts on mine and hubby's profile and the best route to take to increase our chances.
My profile :
Age : 33
Degree: BSc & MSc in Anatomy
ECA: ongoing with WES
Occupation : Lecturer (for 5years)
IELTS: RSLW 9, 7.5, 7.5, 6.5
Please do you think I should rewrite the IELTS or apply for a remark of the writing? This is the lowest I have ever scored in writing. My previous scores were 8 in academic writing and general.

Spouse's profile :
Age: 40
Degree: RN & BSc Nursing
Occupation : Nursing (8 years of nursing experience)
IELTS: RSLW 6, 7, 5.5, 7

I plan to be principal applicant and want to try the Nova Scotia PNP. Please gurus in the house advice. Thanks

1. Apply for remark if ur test was written within last 6 weeks AND also register for another test while awaiting your remark outcome.
2. Evaluate hubby's degree.

With an 8 in Listening and 7 in Writing plus hubby' ECA, your CRS will be 450 so you'll not be needing a provincial nomination to get ITA.

LONG POST ALERT!

From my observation, CRS cut-offs are usually determined mainly by the draw size and then interval btwn draws and to a lesser extent the number of candidates in the EE pool.
The reason the cut off recently didn't really drop as anticipated, even when we had up to 3 draws in August, was because of the relatively smaller draw sizes. The closer draw intervals were offset by the decrease in sizes.
Let's see some figures:
The last 4 (Aug-Sept) draw sizes were 3264, 2991, 3035 & 2772 (twice below 3k) ITAs with CRS of 441, 433, 434 and 435 respectively.
Now compare that with April draw sizes of 3753, 3923 and 3665 with CRS of 431, 423 & 415 respectively.
Let's see also May with similar draw sizes of 3796, 3687 & 3877 with CRS of 423, 415 & 413 respectively.
Another factor is that the number of EE pool candidates has increased from an average of 50k in Apr-May to abt 58k averagely nowadays- more competition. Now you see why cut-off no gree drop further ba?

My prediction: If CIC's reason for reducing draw sizes is because they are getting closer to their 2017 quota, then CRS may hover around the 430-445 range a little longer. But If that's not the case, then maybe (I hope) they will still increase their draw sizes again this year which will force down the CRS cut-offs below that range.
The good news is that even if their 2017 targets are almost already realized, their 2018 immigration targets are quite high. In order to achieve that, they will have to resume the large draw sizes again next year in order to meet up and consequently lower CRS cut-off.
So guys, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope they are still far from their 2017 targets make we get our ITAs first before they wind up for the year as guys don taya for this zone. Lol.
Sorry about the long post, just thought I should do a little analysis.
Cheers.

Good day house,
please i need advice as to my express entry process.
Am 36yrs, an Accountant with 13yrs working experience. I took the IELTS exam on the 19th of last month. Results states 7 over all. R - 6.5, W- 6.5, L- 7.0, S - 7.5.
I took CRS and made a total of 342. Please my question is how can i improve my CRS figure for the Federal Skilled worker route?
Or which provincial nominee programme can my profile get me?

Your CRS points can be boosted with a much better IELTS score- L8, R7, W7 as minimum. Your Speaking score is perfect. What's ur highest qualification and marital status?

If ur latest test is less than 6 weeks ago, I suggest you apply for remark and also book another test. Utilize all your options, you may be lucky. Also, keep practicing more and give it one more shot.

Yes, for instance, ignoring a full stop, or downplaying minor errors in speaking, e.g stopped talking when not told to do so, the examples could be endless. If a marker was strict or extremely detailed and they decided to be less strict during remark, what will you call that? So unmerited might be a harsh word...it can be "let my people go"......at least you deserve that for your wasted time, effort and monies paid. After all they know your reason for a remark.

I strongly disagree with you on this. If u check on previous EE thread, Vcole was given LRSW 7,7,7,6.5 when she checked online. She was really surprised because it's way below her expectation. When she went to collect her TRF from BC, she was told her result was randomly picked for QA/QC purposes but she later received it few weeks after the reassessment. Shockingly, her TRF showed new scores LRSW 8.5,8.5,9,7.5. Pls note she didn't ask for remark so the issue of empathy here is baseless.
In fact, it's because of crap like these that gave rise to random QC/QA checks. How do u explain the huge band differences even in Reading and Listening? Mistake? I guess not.
BC guys, just as elfman pointed out, capitalize on the long remark duration to rob people.
Giving scores based on 'let my people go' only applies to our universities here, oyibo people no send you; they have reputation to protect.

Good evening house, I've been a silent reader all this while and I really appreciate all the updates and assistance been rendered.

Congrats on the new ITA's recipients. I'm privileged to be among them and I want to start putting all the necessary documents together.

But need some guidance and assistance. Which are;

Statement of account duration and amount.
Medicals details I.e is it possible I make use of my previous medical report.
Police reports

Statement of account should cover last 6 months and with the closing balance equivalent or higher than the required settlement funds. If the funds were recently deposited, you may have to explain its source.
As for the medicals, it should be done with one of the CIC-accredited clinics and it's valid for a year.
Police clearance should also be recent and don't forget you also need to provide one for each country you've spent up to 6 months cumulatively within last 10years or since your 18th birthday, whichever is more recent.

a very interesting thread and congrats to everyone that just got ITA. Please i need the gurus in the house to help out here: what is the best route for someone who is very experienced with a B.Sc and good language score (LRWS 8,8.5,7.5,cool but with very low CRS score (357) plus age not very favourable (40 last May). I know the provincial nomination might be one but there has to be a valid job offer in the intended province. You thoughts please.

Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Ontario and New Brunswick have Express Entry aligned PNPs that don't require job offers.
But with ur IELTS score, I think your CRS points should be higher than 357. Are u single or married? If married, what's ur wife's profile like? Let's recalculate and consider all options before settling for PNP.

It's like WES has upgraded o. New website, new packaging and clearly written on their site now that evaluations take 7 DAYS after receiving all necessary documents to complete.
It's just that their verification wahala that may be an issue especially for Nigerian degrees.

It all depends on the province. Some can even take up to a year (Manitoba for example). PR application can also take up to a year if it is paper-based application.

Na true o. That PNP route should simply be the last resort especially for those who can't meet the language requirements to get direct ITA.

Medical exams

You must have a medical exam before you apply. Your family members must also have one, even if they aren’t coming with you.

We won’t approve your permanent resident application if your health:

is a danger to Canada’s public health or safety
would cause too much demand on health or social services in Canada
When the panel physician completes the medical exam, they will give you an:

information printout sheet
IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form
You must provide a copy of these documents when you apply online.

Don’t complete your medical exam until you get your invitation to apply. The results of your exam must be valid at the time you submit your application for permanent residence. For this reason, it is a good idea to complete the exam as close as possible to the date you submit your online application.

Please explain further.

For instance, take a look at this, I have different job positions under one NOC. Do I need to choose different NOCs to show different positions?

1241 Administrative assistants
Administrative assistants perform a variety of administrative duties in support of managerial and professional employers. They are employed throughout the private and public sectors.

Example Titles

administrative assistant
executive secretary (except legal and medical)
office administrative assistant
private secretary
secretary (except legal and medical)
technical secretary

View all titles
Main duties

Administrative assistants perform some or all of the following duties:
Prepare, key in, edit and proofread correspondence, invoices, presentations, brochures, publications, reports and related material from machine dictation and handwritten copy
Open and distribute incoming regular and electronic mail and other material and co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments and organizations
Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings of employer
Order office supplies and maintain inventory
Answer telephone and electronic enquiries and relay telephone calls and messages
Set up and maintain manual and computerized information filing systems
Determine and establish office procedures
Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business and direct visitors to employer or appropriate person
Record and prepare minutes of meetings
Arrange travel schedules and make reservations
May compile data, statistics and other information to support research activities
May supervise and train office staff in procedures and in use of current software.
May organize conferences
Employment requirements

Completion of secondary school is usually required.
Completion of a one- or two-year college or other program for administrative assistants or secretaries
or
Previous clerical experience is required.

It's the job duties that matter not the title. If you can merge your job duties under one of the several titles you had, better so long as it matches the duties of an Administrative Assistant. If it's within the same organization and your reference letter can carry it as stated, you're good.

Can medicals be done upfront (before ITA)? Please I'm not asking if it's advisable or not. I know it's valid for a year within which one has to have landed. Are there any other implications other than risk of expiry? Thanks.

Does anyone know the average processing time if you go through PNP route if crs score is not high enough for direct ITA

From observations, PNP applications processing times (at the Province level) usually take 3-6 months to receive nomination with the exception of Ontario (1-2 months).
After nomination, PR visa application (IRCC) usually takes 5-6 months.

Hello house, pls I need the link to Canada non-express entry program (i.e NOC type C or D), thanks

A few Canadian immigration programs run outside the Express Entry. You have Atlantic Immigrant Pilot Program AIPP (you'll need a job offer though) and several other Provincial Nominee programs that run outside EE as well such that you apply directly for PR visa after Nomination. Those PNPs are usually referred to as Base PNPs. Most Provinces have them. Some (not all) of them would require a job offer and their language requirements (CLB 4 or 5) are usually lower than that for EE.
These routes are also usually slower though.
Alberta PNP for example works outside EE, likewise Saskatchewan Occupations In Demand stream. Just google them to get more info.

Cheers

You stand a good chance if that's what you want to know. But it depends on ur IELTS score and maybe an additional year work experience.
As advised, channel your energy into IELTS and aim for minimum band 8777 in LRSW modules respectively. With that you'll be putting yourself in a very good position.

Hello guys, congrats to all new PPR recipients. I have just two questions for now because I'm begining to have doubts even though my ECA and IELTS is in progress.

1. Does someone who has been denied UK Visa thrice stand a chance to get PPR? and the visa refusals were for funny reasons like large sums paid into account and no clear ties to a friend who sent an invite.

2. For a banker with over 5 years experience in operations having worked in all departments concerned with ops duties, which NOC is advisable because I can't find any suitable under NOC A, B and C. Let it not be after all efforts one won't now find which NOC to fit himself.

Pls assist.

For a start, please keep a positive mindset.
To answer your questions:
1. Visa denials, however many, don't really affect your chances at all as long as you are honest about them in your application. Exception may be if you were denied on criminal suspicion or fraudulent grounds. So I guess you don't have a problem there.
2. I think your job duties as a banker will likely fall under NOC 0. Please check job titles under that code that have similar job duties. Once your job duties match about 70%, you're good to go. There are several bankers just like you on this thread who already have PPR or PR visas and I'm sure a few will throw in some useful tips for you.
Oga, u no get problem at all.
