They should keep looting us until Likes of you and Beaf stop using tribalism and get it into ur heads that the country is still recovering from the betrayal you did the nation during the National protest.

be rest assure that the country is watching una very well and WE WOULD NO PROTEST FOR ANY REASON. Since you take GEJ as an Igbo Ijaw president rather than Nigerian President. Moreover he would not be respected as well.

Even your NLC leaders did the same, thus count Nigerians out. Thanks for your time.

afam4eva: The same people who are advocating for regionalism are also saying that we should not spread the wealth. How hypocritical can some of you be. I'm talking of a port that will serve Asaba, Onitsha, Awka, Enugu, Ebonyi and increase the commercial activities in these places and you're telling me it's better to invest the money in cross river and rivers state. What exactly are you scared of?
Dude if there is going to be anyform of regionalism it is 3 not 6. Old East

I don't understand why people would want to keep dividing and dividing like Ideeiots

odumchi: No need to apologize. I am not offended by your statement but I said that because others can easily take what you said as an offense. It's good to disagree but try to do so without directly or indirectly insulting the other person.

It's very possible that there are many ways that 'oyibo' in it's various forms entered into the pidgin dictionary. Prior to this thread, I had never even known that Yoruba and Edo people had their own explanations of how it entered into our speech. Well, since there are a number of explanations, I think I'll continue to hold my belief.
Thanks smiley
CultureRe: Oyibo Or Oyinbo..which Of Them Is Correct? by aljharem(m): 8:46pm On Mar 18, 2012
Abagworo: Well actually every language is full of modified words from other languages into their own. I know that a large chunk of Igbos refer to things as "Oyibo", "Oyibe" and "Oyime" as foreign. Other Igbos use "Bekee" in its place. Igbos called whiteman "Onyeocha" and it even shows in such names as "Nkwocha", "Okocha" and "Nwokocha" . Bekee is a corruption of the name of a Portuguese who visited Aboh around 15th century and Igbos called him and his followers "Nde Bekee".

As far as I know Igbos bear that name "Oyibo" and its quite common and is not recent. You can search on facebook for Oyibo, Egoyibo , Nwoyibo, Nwabekee, Bekee etc.
Quite right

Although it is quite strange for a word to mean the same thing by two different people. hmmmm

Thanks for the clarification.

I am so happy that Niger-deltans are coming out now to disclaim that Bigot Beaf grin grin grin grin. Lets be real with ourselves, our leaders are the real parasites exploiting us because a vast majority of us are ignorant.

An average Ijaw, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Igala, Idoma, Efik, etc are ALL SUFFERING. No group is above the other but we see how our so called leaders push the blame to ethnic groups and try to paint a picture that they are better or they have our interest at heart well, THAT IS A BIG LIE. We have seen that his history over an over again.

odumchi: I never said 'oyibo' was an Igbo word. As far as I know, the word exists in Pidgin. Igbo has it's own name for the white men which is 'ndi bekee'. As far as I know, 'oyibo' and 'oyinbo' are different in pronunciation and are spoken by mainly two different people.
No sir, Oyibo and Oyinbi are not different in pronunciation.

The words are spoken by by the same people, I spell Oyinbo as Oyibo at times, It makes no difference in the way it is pronounced

Just to clear things up finally,

I wonder what Onye Acha means in Igbo if Oyibo is for white people

Onye Acha literal meaning is person white. How did that turn to Oyibo. Funny grin grin grin grin

Words like Egusi, Oyibo, Orobo, lepa, potopoto, Eba, Osa, mire, etc are yoruba words borrowed due to influence of Nigeria

Words like Edikaikong etc are calabar words but borrowed by others

Words like Na, etc are igbo words

Alubosa (yoruba) Haruna (hausa) etc are all arabic words.

John, Paul etc are all Jewish/English words but these words are used by everyone today.
CultureRe: Oyibo Or Oyinbo..which Of Them Is Correct? by aljharem(m): 3:30pm On Mar 18, 2012
I wonder when Oyibo became Igbo word huh Why would you call a foreigner Onye Igbo/Ibo. That is a big fat lie. Please Odumchi and co, Know your history and culture well before discussion in cultural issues because an ignoramus would actually believe you all.

The closest was ufeolorun

Oyinbo literal meaning is pealed back honey/ Peeled skinned people which is the termed by yorubas to address light skin forienger According to Debra L. Klein

http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&sugexp=frgbld&gs_nf=1&cp=13&gs_id=1e&xhr=t&q=oyinbo+yoruba&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbo=u&tbm=bks&source=og&sa=N&tab=wp&ei=Ke5lT8b3GubN0QWbt8ybCA&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=83eff03ccb2cc236&biw=1043&bih=558

This word Oyinbo is not only used in Nigeria but also by Crelos people in Serri leano and according to them, they got it from the yoruba word

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=nAQIcqwGqTEC&pg=PA80&dq=oyinbo+yoruba&hl=en&sa=X&ei=5e9lT6aKNtK10QW75qWSCA&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAjgK#v=onepage&q=oyinbo%20yoruba&f=false

Oyibo is an Igbo way of saying Oyinbo which was originally never an Igbo word. Lets get our facts right here.

Oye ebeo is what Igbos call white (red) people before they adopted Oyibo

An Igbo writer called Ugo Nwokeji even claims the word Oyibo was borrowed from the yorubas and NEVER AN IGBO WORD. Link below

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=tjLjoC6ScKYC&pg=PA218&dq=oyibo+igbo&hl=en&sa=X&ei=0PBlT9--AqLK0QXww7CgCA&ved=0CE0Q6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=oyibo%20igbo&f=false

it is just like saying the word "na" is orginally hausa or so, we all know that "na" is a corrupt version of "nna" thus of Igbo origin.

I find it amazing that Afam4eva has not answered my question. LOL

You know the reality but chose to ignore the facts that productivity is way better than "at least we have it" mentality.

I wonder what is stopping a country like Nigeria have 2 working class deep sea ports rather than just Lagos and 2 underclass seaport with 1 river port ? It makes prefect nonsense I must say !!!!!

Why not invest the money in Cross river or Rivers state, get the deep seaport to world standard, transfer ships their rather than lagos then gradually, make rivers state an economic hub ?

manchy7531: i have so much respect for Prof Bolaji Akinyemi and he comes to me as one of the most brilliant Yoruba technocrat that ever lived. For him to be one of those calling for the renaming of NDA after ojukwu goes to show that there are still some detribalise man and women who at any point will make their decision base on merit and worth.

I think NDA is the best to be named after ojukwu and not one street or district like as it is been name after all those treacherous politicians. Because Ojukwu is the greatest solider and most brilliant leader that Nigerian has ever produced.
LOL you have respect for him and you call him Yoruba rather than Yoruba. Also those that don't like Ojukwu are not tribalist rather you should ask yourself WHY they do not like him.

Lastly Ojukwu is not and would never ever be the greatest Soldier ever produced in Nigeria neither would he be the most brilliant.

If you talk of great soldiers, then you talk of Adaka Boro and Effiong and if you talk of brilliance you talk of Victor Banjo and Effiong.

Thanks for you time

LOL what a reply for bros afam grin grin grin

I assumed that a port in the east would be a good idea rather than shipment to Lagos then travelling by road all the way to Anambra that is the reason you advocated for River Niger to be dredged.

Now I am just saying that knowing the huge "containers" would be going to the east, I would suggest that the resources for the dredging could be passed to River or Cross river to make a DEEP seaport rather than a river port.

More productivity I would say. BTW Glo is Nigerian owned while MTN is foreign owned, there is a difference wink

ZUBY77: I want to live in Eastern Nigeria. I have heard about PH, Awka, Enugu, and Owerri. I like quiet and well planned cities with good road networks, less pollution, standard super malls, airport, stadium, good hospital, night clubs/life and all those things that Americans enjoy. Which city in the east can accomodate my desires ?
I recommend Owerri in Imo state, that is the next big thing over there and maybe calabar or enugu. Port harcourt is dry and if you are used to city life such as Abuja or Lagos, you might not like PH

Moreover, Imo would be the next big state in Nigeria very soon, I suggest you familiarise yourself with the state wink

Anything that gives you a negative or lower entropy could be a provider energy.

Now according to him, the engine takes air from the atmosphere (very high entropy) and pushes it out (low entropy more like a jet engine) (which is how an engine works) from a battery powered engine.

Let ask for details on how the engine works before we castigate him. Haba
PoliticsRe: Re- We Can Generate Any Amount Of Electricity With Erinle Fueless Engine-mr Erinle by aljharem(m): 11:41pm On Mar 14, 2012

You cannot connect batteries to a generator and claim to have invented something. Why not go home and connect two rechargable batteries together and see how well they charge each other?

Dimwit.
Interesting, Ok

An ordinary battary CANNOT make a generator work for more than 10 mins or so (not sure).

1. we need to know what sort of battery he used before we write him off

2. The chemical composition of the battery.

You need to open you head at times and think. What sort of battery would power a ship as he claims ? Lets know first know these informations before we castigate him Mumu.

The same thing they did to Aliyu before he went to america to go give them his brains since we have ideeiots like you that would just read the surface and write someone off.
