Yes of course I do believe in something. My believe is that we as Nigerians should have a nation full of equality and respect.

Now to say because someone is not from my ethnic group I would not support him, far from it. I support the truth because that is my conscience which is the awareness of a moral or ethical aspect to one's conduct together with the urge to prefer right over wrong.

If I support someone just because of his ethnicity, religion or zone as most Nairalanders most from the Igbo ethnic group would want me to do, I wonder how objective and realistic political speaking I would be then.

Business associates and kinsmen of the kidnapped Igbo trader in Akure, Ondo State, Steve Eze, are looking for the N5 million demanded by his abductors.
Eze was abducted at about 8pm last Tuesday by yet-to-be identified assailants.
The kidnappers were said to have contacted his wife few days later, demanding  N50 million, which was eventually reduced to N5 million.
Yesterday, the ransom was reduced to N3.8 million.
Business associates and Ndigbo in the state are seeking financial assistance after all efforts to withdraw the money from Eze's account failed.
A source said Eze's banker denied his wife access to his account.
Mrs. Eze was reportedly told by the banker to seek help elsewhere, stressing that it is only if a death certificate is produced that the wife could access his account.
The police said they were not part of any negotiating team.
Police spokesman Adeniran Aremu said the command was working to free Eze from his abductors. 
“We are never part of any negotiation with the kidnappers and we will never be.
“But I am assuring you that we will get him released in a very good condition of health, while his abductors will face the law," Aremu said.

Jos – Jubilation, today greeted the suspension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) among residents of Plateau State.

Students and parents who reacted following the announcement of the strike’s suspension rejoiced over the development saying it ended the frustration of idling away at home.

Some of the patents said they were unhappy seeing their children sitting at home while the strike lasted and thanked God that they can now go back to school.

Also rejoicing over the development are entrepreneurs who are into one business or the other at the university who said the strike had virtually thrown them out of business.

They were happy that they would be able to return to their businesses to earn a living and prayed that the strike should be the last.

Meanwhile, the University of Jos has announced the resumption of lectures by Friday.

Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the institution, Mr. Steve Otowo said hostels and lecture halls would be open immediately for normal academic activities to resume.

•Urges Ndigbo to leave North •Opens refugee camp in Imo
Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Ralph Uwazuruike has lambasted Igbo political leaders for asking Ndigbo to stay back in the North.
Igbo leaders, comprising the five Southeast governors, deputy Senate president, deputy speaker, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among others, met last weekend and resolved that Ndigbo should not evacuate the North.
Reacting to the resolution which has caused heated debate among Ndigbo, Uwazuruike described it as “wicked, insensitive and borne out of selfish political interest”.
He said it is “sacrilegious” for the leaders to ask Ndigbo to stay back in the North when they are being killed daily.
Uwazuruike challenged the Igbo political leaders to show evidence of the security provided for their kinsmen in the North.
The MASSOB leader said the group would provide transportation and security to ensure that Ndigbo who are trapped in the North are evacuated safely to the East.
He said he has opened a refugee camp in Okwe, Imo State, for those who do not have a place to immediately relocate to.
His words: “To say that Ndigbo should stay in the North to show that North is a free zone is sacrilegious.
“If you say that, relocate your family to the North.
“I believe in leadership by example, it is not people who want to trade with the lives of Ndigbo because they want to stay in Government.
“Some of them have been in government for 40 years and have nothing to show for Ndigbo.
“It is sacrilege for Ndigbo to be buried in mass graves daily. Nigeria is no longer safe for us.
“They want to impress President Jonathan but the lives of Ndigbo are more important than any position.
“I cannot support anybody at the expense of Ndigbo. I am the only person who can say it, apart from Ojukwu.”
The MASSOB leader said all Ndigbo in Nigeria and Diaspora will observe a sit-at-home during the funeral for the late Biafran leader, Emeka Ojukwu.
He said Ojukwu will be jointly buried by the Nigerian government and Biafran veterans having served in "both states" as a military officer and Head of State.
Uwazuruike dismissed the reported threat by Boko Haram members to bomb Ojukwu's funeral, saying MASSOB will provide adequate security.

ONITSHA—THE trial of six persons charged with kidnapping and murder, yesterday, at an Ogidi Magistrate Court in Idemili local government area of Anambra State, took a dramatic twist as one of the suspects, a native doctor, denied preparing charms for criminals but governors and other prominent people in the society.

The suspect, Chukwunonso Okerulu, even boasted that he had bought many cars and built houses from proceeds earned working for governors.

He said: “Our people even gave me chieftaincy title when they found out after administering native oath on me that my hands are clean.

“I am a native doctor, a trade which I have practiced for more than 20 years and I have many cars and big buildings all over the places, even governors visit my shrine,” the suspect told the court.

Pandemonium had earlier trailed trial of the six suspects as villagers stormed the court premises to hear the case, causing anxiety and stampede.

As early as 8.30 am, residents of the community had thronged the court to hear the matter in connection with the murder of two security guards and kidnapping of one, Dr. Reuben Okwosa in December last year.

The atmosphere became tensed when the accused persons were called to the dock by the court clerk and the 8-count charge read to them.

The six persons standing trial over murder of two security guards attached to KP Pharmaceutical at Ogidi, Idemili North local government area, as well as kidnap of Dr. Reuben Okwosa, had allegedly collected N5.5 million ransom.

Those arraigned were Emmanuel Caesar Nwabunne ‘m’ 32, Edward Nwoye ‘m’ 50, Ifeanyi Nwafor, ‘M’ 48 years, Chukwunonso Okerulu, ‘m’ 37 Anthony Aghaonu, ‘m’ 41 and Vincent Aghanou, ‘m’ 25 years who were being accused of masterminding the murder and kidnap of the medical doctor.

The accused persons were also standing trial for murder of one Godwin Mendu who was a security guard at KP Pharmaceuticals, when they allegedly struck at an end of year party being organised for the chairman of the company, Dr. Reuben Okwosa, who was kidnapped in the process.

One of the lawyers to the accused persons, Mr. Peremine Oseme, who appeared for the 1st, 5th and 6th accused persons, said his clients were merely arraigned by the prosecutors on mere suspicion.

Oseme noted that since his clients were not seen at the scene of the crime but arrested while drinking at a beer palour for allegedly waving at the Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, that was used by the kidnappers to kidnap the victim, it was a mere suspicion.

Miss. Genevieve Nwosu who appeared for the 4th accused, said the prosecutors had not been able to establish their case, adding that “to arrest my client because they waved at a moving vehicle was laughable”

However, the prosecuting counsel , Mr. Ebitemu Orifu, said the suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, adding that there was enough evidence to prosecute them.

The presiding Magistrate, Phil Ebosia, said the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody.

He also directed the prosecuting counsel to collect all certified copies of relevant documents for onward presentation to the state Attorney General.

While the accused were being taken away by armed policemen, there was anguish and wailing from mainly women who said the suspects were innocent of the crime.
