I guess what the stock market needs is way out. Our so called big banks should be willing to finance entrepreneurs and that includes student and you'd be surprised to see the economy and the market pick up.
What I think is wrong with the Nigerian market is a bunch of confused administrators using the global economic crisis as a cover up to their gross inefficiency and lack of consistency in policy.

yeah! With the A/C on and windows up, you've got a lesser drag than when windows are down. Adams and Jamie of mythbusters did a great work on that.

For those needing technical analysis, I hope this helps. Watch out for the eps (ie earning per share) that tell you what each of your share earns. Companies with low eps are not worth investing in especially those with values such as 0.05 and less ( if you are a small scale investor that is)
The profit after tax (PAT) can also help you determine which stock to pick. Rule is the higher the PAT, that's where my money goes!

Well thanks for your posts. I've got a team of scientists and we are going to embark on a research soon. I mean detailed research. Well for clarity, all these events took place in Aba as well as in villages in Ngwa Land. We are going to unlock the secrets of the natives.
I really do know that there must be an explanation to what's going on there.
Christianity EtcVoodoo, Witchcraft, How Real? by Allwell(op): 2:58pm On Oct 20, 2006
Hi Folks

I'll like to update you all of something going on right now in south east Nigeria. Before I begin, this should not be an avenue for mudslinging, tribal sentiments but for healthy debate and research. My interest in this is purely for scientific reasons.

The Story

In my hometown like any other surrounding towns, we've got all shades of people. The rich, I mean very rich with properties all over the world, the poor, the insanes and all that. Unfortunately, we lost two young promising youths on the same day sometime this year. Both were brothers and were preparing for one of 'em wedding. They died in a car crash a week to the wedding? ( due to bad roads you say?)

Last month, I lost my cousin, He had been mentally ill since he was 14 and it was a very sad period for me.

and on and on, there were other folks as well, my room mate at college who died 3 months after his mom's death, the list is endless

Now

A certain native doctor came up (apparently fed up with what's going on), decided to expose the evil of his gang members. So his going from one village to the other exposing the heinous crimes. How true are his claims you may ask? The people he is exposing are confessing to all they've done. Right now he is going even across local govts so it's not a limited thing! All the youth's including those overseas are back home, well going witch hunting.

Punishment

30 years exile to your mother's village if you confess.

My Questions

As a Chemical Eng student, I ought to have an open mind to research. What can you explain is going on? Are these myths or facts, i mean people are confessing here you know and are being exiled.

Are there scientific laws to explain how some one can cause another person's death, misery and insanity?

I need answers and contributions. I intend unlocking the secrets of the native customs

thanks for your time

I haven't seen their result yet but from what I read in the papers it could be they are heading for the primary market. What's in their result windywendy? Any bonus or big time div?

And hey Seun, why don't you set aside a board for those who want to discuss 'stocks' than lumping it in 'business'
InvestmentRe: Stock Brokers In Nigeria? by Allwell(m): 12:36pm On Sep 05, 2006
Hi Parababe

The stock market is a good place to invest if you know how the rope works. @ Seun, Don't be pessimistic always.
Please my dear parababe, I'll advise you to get a good broker and always watch out for opportunities that abound. For example, if you had invested your 50,000 in First Bank shares sometime around may when it sold for N33 per share you'd have over N100,000 in August cos it sold for over N70 per share!
Foreign AffairsRe: Israel vs Hezbollah/Lebanon by Allwell(m): 7:05pm On Jul 22, 2006
I don't in anyway think that Israel's action is economic motivated. Rather I think its a case of them trying to defend theirselves. If only you 'd call to mind all the barage of suicide bombings by Hamas Aand Hezbollah then you'd know that the latest kidnappings were the last straw. Israel cannot be a siiting duck for terrorist. It has the right to defend itself from terror groups backed by Syria and Iran.
Well who is worse off today? The Lebanese! They should have done more to protect themselves earlier by not allowing terror groups to stay in their country. IT'S A PITY CIVILLIANS ARE AFFECTED! Real Pity. But enough of the blame game.what's the way forward?

Hey Folks!
I hope I don't miss out! Do be kind enough to let us know when their IPO will be out. I'm sure it's going to be over subscribed. Moreover it'd be profitable in the short run as technical suspension on their shares will be lifted before a regime change

FamilyRe: Should Wives Submit To Their Husbands? by Allwell(m): 11:31am On May 19, 2006
i don't know what which 'good book" the author of this post may have in mind but I'd know that the Bible talks about wives submitting themselves to their husband and husband loving their wives as Christ love the church.

Now if you take that into perspective, that doesn't say women should be slaves. Christ died for us all (his church), so the husband should be able to show similar love. The husband need not take the bullet to show he love his wife, but he can show his love by doing the dishes, picking the kids from school, bathing 'em, telling them bed time stories and praying with the family.

And my dear pals, if you think these things are not possible, i can say they are cos my Dad did all that and even more, and cos of this, my mom sure loves him. they've been married for more than 20 years and still counting!

We must not be cynical about the scriptures but study it with an open mind. The bible talks about the sheep being in submission to the shepherd and the shepherd loving the sheep. Husband love your wife and vice versa. Peace
