That Computer Village is actually a residential area and the traders would have to move to the bigger new site at Gatankowa, Able Egba. The Lagos State Government has a firm responsibility to develop the State to meet international competition... It's NO longer debatable. Action is needed from here on out to gentrify the towns in Lagos State
alphonsojidebab: A Nigerian businessman based in China, Tochukwu Harrison Mmaduboallor, has accused popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), of jeopardizing the livelihood of Igbo traders by allegedly revealing confidential trade networks in his recent videos. Eyes Of Lagos reports, Allegations of Trade Secret Exposure
In a video shared online, Tochukwu criticized VDM for disclosing sensitive business information that could potentially harm Igbo entrepreneurs operating in China. He claimed that the influencer’s attempt to help Nigerians access cheaper goods directly from Chinese factories could undermine the long-standing business models many Igbo traders depend on.
“VeryDarkMan will render many Igbo youths in China useless, all in the name of helping Nigerians import goods cheaper,” Tochukwu said. “Business is all about secrecy. Real businessmen don’t introduce their suppliers to their customers.”
According to him, supplier confidentiality is crucial for sustaining profits, and revealing such information could lead to financial losses and increased competition.
Potential Threat to Igbo Economic Influence
Tochukwu further warned that VDM’s approach might unintentionally weaken the economic dominance of Igbo traders in China. He emphasized that Igbo businessmen have built strong trade links over the years through perseverance, secrecy, and trust.
He noted that many traders spend over ₦2 million on travel and endure difficult living conditions abroad just to maintain their businesses.
“Some of us sleep on the streets just to make sure our trade survives. These sacrifices and the secrecy behind our supplier networks are what keep us going,” Tochukwu added.
He expressed fears that connecting Nigerian buyers directly with Chinese suppliers could disrupt existing trade relationships and reduce the competitive edge that Igbo traders currently enjoy.
Concerns Over Igbo Dominance in Trade
Tochukwu concluded by stating that the Igbo community holds a leading position in Nigeria’s trade relationship with China, far ahead of other ethnic groups. He cautioned that VDM’s exposure of trade routes and supplier details could destabilize a system that has sustained countless families for decades.
This young man called VDM isn't doing anything special that is NOT already available in the public domain for years now.
There are NO Ibo trade secrets anywhere with regards to the China business ecosystem. These sources of cheap goods from manufacturers in China and South East Asia are well known for several decades now to other people around the world including international business men and internatiobal business consultants of Yoruba, Edo (Benin and Esan) origins. Yorubas and Edos for instance are well known to be big time international travelers and business people as well. I remember that the Edos were already importing pre-owned vehicles in large numbers from Europe known as "Belgium" cars and trucks back in the late 1980s for resale in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.
There are many business people of Yoruba origin, United States, South Africa and British nationalities, etc, that I personaly know of who visit China regularly for trade deals and to source for manufactured commodities for import and export purposes.
ogododo: The Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Muhammad Sanusi II, said he agrees with about 80 percent of President Bola Tinubu’s policy direction but has reservations about certain aspects of fiscal management and food importation.
Speaking in an interview with News Central on Tuesday, Sanusi commended the administration for stabilising the economy through improved fiscal discipline and better monetary policy coordination.
“In terms of monetary policy and stability, I have nothing but commendation for the government. On the fiscal side, we have had an improvement in revenue-to-GDP ratios, improvement in debt service ratios, and a contraction in the deficit. These are positive steps, but we still have a long way to go,” he said.
The former CBN governor, however, noted that while the government had made commendable progress in revenue generation, it must pay closer attention to the quality and efficiency of public spending.
“I would like to see a better look at fiscal expenditure. We’re still spending too much money on government — on the cost of governance, too many political appointees, too many officers,” Sanusi said.
“If we do not improve the quality of spending and put a rein on expenditure, we’re going to continue borrowing.”
He warned that Nigeria could fall back into a debt trap if it failed to manage its post-subsidy savings prudently.
“After saving money from these expensive subsidies, after building up the government balance sheet, you go and spend it, and then you have to borrow again,” he cautioned.
“So we still have some steps to go on the fiscal side, but the first thing was to fix revenue, and I think with the tax reforms and what you’ve seen so far, the fiscal side is on its way.
Sanusi also called for structural reforms in agriculture, describing the government’s policy on food importation as counterproductive.
“I would like to see that we put a stop to the mass importation of food. I know it was driven by a desire to bring down food prices, but it is, in the end, very counterproductive to domestic production and domestic producer prices,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria must focus on strengthening its agricultural value chain to boost local food production and achieve sustainable food security.
“Hopefully, we will get to a point where we go back on track with the reforms in the agricultural sector — fixing the agricultural value chain and relying on domestic production to feed the nation,” he said.
Summing up his assessment, the Emir of Kano said the administration had made significant strides despite the country’s economic challenges.
airsaylongcome: Did she or did she nkr submit a forged document? And I hope you know that merely being in possession of a false instrument is a crime let alone submitting same false instrument. And ignorance is NOT an excuse in law
First off, I had to make that historical correction because in my 20 years of being a veteran member of this discussion forum with my other older moniker, I noticed that you are one of the sensible posters on this Website so this is why I chose to engage you here for the records.
Second, I totally agree with what you posted right ABOVE and already answered the succinct question you asked while affirming that Kemi unintentionally submitted a forged NYSC exemption document BUT it wasn't her who did it but the unscrupulous NYSC officials as confirmed by the then NYSC DG when the case was investigated.
This is the reason why Kemi Adeosun was NEVER prosecuted in any Nigerian court after due diligence had been done by the then NYSC Director General when that case broke to show that she indeed formerly applied for the NYSC exemption certificate in her application form in the official NYSC file in their office.
Kemi Adeosun would have been allowed by the former President Buhari to stay on as a Minister because she NEVER had any forged academic documents from her elementary school to her post-graduate years, BUT she honorably chose to RESIGN her Ministerial appointment and headed back to England. I was even pissed off at that time that she didn't press charges. Her British-born immediate OLDER brother is a infact a respected legal luminary married to a woman from Enugu State and one of Kemi's uncles is the iconic jazz musician and founder of Jazzhole 38 on Ikoyi Island, 'Tunde Kuboye who married Fran Kuboye (Fela Anikulapo-Kuti's niece and daughter of his older sister), so Kemi comes from a family lineage that respects the law and legal procedures.
airsaylongcome: Let's not forget that Kemi Adeosun started all this. Forgery by ministers
@airsaylongcome
This is historically misleading. Do NOT demonize the British-born Kemi Adeosun over that exemption certificate episode. She started NOTHING related to forgery. The post is a bit long but when you read it you will realize that she was NEVER involved directly in the NYSC exemption certificate situation. It was the NYSC staff who irresponsibly forged that exemption certificate instead of procuring the ORIGINAL signed exemption certificate containing the right serial numbers. This is why a lot of Diasporan Nigerians have fallen victim to scammers who issued non-genuine documents in the Immigration passport offices or while applying for driver's licenses in the past.
Second, 'Kemi Adeosun was a full-blooded British citizen in in the interview I read about her when she was the Ogun State Commissioner of Finance back in the early 2010s, she CLEARLY stated that the FIRST time she ever flew into Nigeria on holidays was at the age of just 18 years. Then she flew back to England, graduated from a top British University and worked with Arthur Anderson for more than 10 years in a senior position. So Kemi had NO need for any NYSC program because she was a FULL British citizen and had only been to Nigeria once at 18 years on holidays with her family. She was NEVER a Nigerian citizen or passport holder hence violated NO NYSC laws like some uninformed posters who rushed to heavily demonize her online were saying because they don't know her very well. Kemi also said in that published Saturday Punch interview that she NEVER knew she would eventually come to live in Nigeria due to her marriage to Mr Adeosun her husband. So, after 10 years of marriage, and in order to protect her marriage, she had to leave England and come live with her husband in Nigeria and her consulting firm employer "Arthur Anderson" in England didn't want her to resign because of her outstanding performance. It was on arrival in Nigeria to join her husband, Mr. Adeosun (who owned a business and worked in Nigeria but had to fly regularly to England to see his nuclear family) that the British-accented Kemi Adeosun was introduced by a top female business leader and former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or I CAN (Mrs. Olakunrin) to former Governor Ibikunle Amosunc who then drafted the academically brilliant Kemi into government as his Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Finance and she said she was indeed the first to introduce the "treasury single account" or TSA at the State level which was then implemented when she became a Minister. It was in the course of this that someone suggested that she request for the so-called NYSC exemption certificate just for the formality of having it for any future job opportunity. In reality, Kemi INFACT had NO need for because she was NEVER a Nigerian citizen or passport holder but a British born and her family house is still in England right from the early 1960s when her father and mother migrated to England for further studies. Both of her parents hailed from Ijebu Waterside of Ogun State hence the reason Ibikunle Amosun made her his Commissioner for Budget and Finance.
'Kemi Adeosun did NOT deliberately forge any NYSC exemption certificate. It was the NYSC officials who issued it to her go between. This is why Diasporans have to be careful when applying for official document in Nigeria such as drivers licenses, the NYSC exemption certificate and more so that you are NOT given forged documentation.
What saved Kemi Adeosun's image is that NYSC DG indeed acknowledged that she officially applied for the exemption certificate BUT the officials who handled the process gave her a document that wasn't original. Till date, I haven't heard that those unscrupulous NYSC officials have been tracked and arrested for prosecution for putting that woman into a state of embarrassment. She had to voluntarily resign her appointment because that's the way things are done officially in her country of birth where till date her family house exists.
I hope this clarifies issues about 'Kemi Adeosun's innocence.
There's NO crime in NOT finishing your Uni education due to unforseen circumstances of life or academic challenges with a course or more. The most important thing is that as of today, there are other fields of human endeavor that you can use to achieve your goals in life for the benefit of mankind and for earning sustainable legit income streams.
The WORSE thing anybody can do is to gain admission into a Uni in 1981 like this "Minister" and then claim he (or she) graduated in 1985 when he didn't fulfil the academic requirements ONLY to proceed to forge academic documents and claimed to have attended the NYSC program. If you know you still have (or had academic issues such as this), and DON'T want to be disgraced down the road due to media scrutiny, you BETTER don't go into politics or take part in elections into business clubs and associations otherwise your academic records and personal life will be scrutinized for inconsistencies. The Forbes-listed legit USD billionaires such as Bill Gates, 'Femi Otedola and many more from around the world have CLEARLY stated in interviews and autobiographies that they left their University academic pursuits to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship which paid off for them.
This early marriage of Ifedayo Freeze at the age of 24 and his eventual separation and divorce from his first wife is well-known in the public domain from the publications of years back.
In March 2023 President Muhammadu Buhari signed a constitutional ammendment bill into law and part of the ammendments was that states could generate, transmit and distribute electricity in places that were covered by the National Grid.
In June 2023, President Tinubu signed an ammendment to the Electricity Act into law. The new law allows states to issue licenses to companies to generate, transmit and distribute electricity within their states. The law says that the states must first enact a law to regulate electricity generation, transmission and distribution before they can take over the regulatory functions of the NERC.
[quote author=iwae.da post=137025547]Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are currently experiencing scarcity of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), also known as cooking gas.
It was further learnt that the majority of retailers did not have the product as of Sunday morning. Those who had stock had also increased their prices.
Our correspondent gathered that a litre of LPG, which previously sold for between N1,100 and N1,300 at retailers’ shops, is now going for between N1,300 and N1,500.
press9jatv: The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Olajumoke Oduwole, said she chose a Nord Demir, assembled at the University of Lagos Assembly Plant, as her new official vehicle to boost local industry, create jobs, support education, and demonstrate that Nigerian institutions can deliver world-class solutions.
A statement by UNILAG on Friday said the minister, an alumna of UNILAG’s Faculty of Law and former lecturer at the institution, returned to her alma mater for what she described as a “homecoming of purpose.”
“This car is more than a mode of transport; it is a symbol of faith in Nigeria. I chose UNILAG because this partnership boosts local industry, creates jobs, supports education, and proves that our institutions can deliver world-class innovation. I will drive it with pride in Abuja and on official engagements,” Oduwole said after turning the ignition of the locally assembled vehicle.
The Minister explained that the decision was not just about patronising a local brand but about aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasised industrialisation and economic stability.
This is a practical demonstration of the Nigeria-First Initiative of Mr. President. By choosing this car, we are promoting research, encouraging innovation, and showing our young people that they can build solutions the world will respect,” she said.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, who was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Prof. Bola Oboh hailed the minister’s choice as a historic affirmation of UNILAG’s role in bridging academia and industry.
“It is not only symbolic but inspirational that one of our own, who once studied and taught here, has returned as a minister to receive a vehicle assembled by UNILAG students on our soil. This sends a message that with knowledge and innovation, Nigerians can dream and achieve big,” Oboh said.
The minister was also conducted on a tour of the Nord Automobile facilities at UNILAG, including the assembly line, research and development unit, and showroom.
Since its establishment in July 2022, the UNILAG–Nord partnership has remained Africa’s first university-based automobile assembly plant, producing up to five vehicles and offering cross-disciplinary internship opportunities.
Students gain hands-on experience in automobile manufacturing, as well as exposure to emerging technologies such as electric vehicles and drone assembly.
For UNILAG, the milestone reaffirmed its identity as “the University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride.”
For Oduwole, it was the completion of a circle — from student to lecturer, to minister — and now, an advocate for Nigerian-made solutions.
Impressive of Jumoke to stick with the NORD option.

kedeojo: That is my consign too cos when another governor who they don't like construct road, they will say ordinary road but look at them now. Okpeboho first and important flyover was shown some weeks ago but same hypocrite attacked him. They are very confused tribe. Same man is still paying 30k minimum wage as an oil producing state. He is just doing averagely but better than his prodecessors and that is why any little project he executed, the igbos will just over bloat it. Look at the school he called smart one. Okpeboho within just ten months has done well. He reintroduce Edo line called new Edo line with over hundred brand-new buses. The temporary park at Ajah is cheaper than other transporters to Benin with full AC. He has fully absorb all contract workers Obaseki engaged to become civil servants. Those category of workers were being paid 40k by Obaseki even when minimum wage was 70k but they are now recieving it now with other benefits. he just made money available for disengage staff Obaseki throw to labour market from the the college of agriculture. My friend in Benin was a lecturer then but Obaseki just use the tactics of carrying out massive repairs in the school and didn't bother to pay them for more than four years and before he left office, he still disengaged them. Igbos celebrate mediocrity too much.
