As we confirmed that this Lady defrauds her employer of N2.4m, to set up a hair shop, promises to pay back at N20k per month Rashidat Folawiyo, 41, has been arrested for defrauding a Lagos-based food company of N2.4m. Folawiyo was the company’s major distributor in Ondo State, until August 2016, when she failed to remit the proceeds of products worth over N2.4m. . . The company had handed over a van and food products worth about N6m to Folawiyo in August 2016. But by the time she was supposed to make remittance of an outstanding proceed of sale amounting to N2,407,270, she became unreachable. . . The MD of the company, Segun Olaye, revealed that Folawiyo was initially an employee of the company until she was rewarded with a distributorship role along with a few others across the country. . . She was given an operational vehicle and was getting N6m worth of products on credit every month. Detectives from the SCID, who went after Folawiyo, were able to recover the operational van she was given. . . Police later tracked her down to a hair extension store she had set up in Ijapo area of Akure, Ondo State and transported her back to Lagos. She pleaded to be employed back in the company so that she could be paying back at N20,000 every month. . . She has now been charged before a Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba on 3 counts of theft, conspiracy to commit felony and fraud. Two teachers, Stanley Akanno and Olakunle Hassan, both teachers in a private primary school in Amuwo Odofin, were yesterday paraded by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Kayode Aderanti, for serially defiling their 6-year-old female pupil. . . The teachers, he said, during extra mural classes, showed pornography on their laptop to the pupil and made her practice same on them. “The pupil has been taken to a government hospital where it was medically established that she had been deflowered. The suspects will soon be charged to court,” Aderanti said. . . They were arrested following suspicion by the girl’s mother that her daughter has suddenly become sexually active. The girl’s mother, while narrating how the daughter was defiled, said: “I noticed that my daughter was kissing his brother’s penis. . . I called her and interrogated her where she learnt the behaviour and she told me that her lesson teacher plays erotic films on his laptop and forced her to watch it. She added that the teacher will then defile her. We reported the case to the police and from the investigation, it showed that she was defiled.”

Lagos Government have started the construction of 181 major roads http://www.eyesoflagos.com/2017/01/lagos-government-have-started.html Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday said that his administration would consolidate on its infrastructural RENEWALdrive with the construction of 181 local government roads in the current fiscal year, saying the process for the award of the contract has commenced Governor Ambode, who spoke at the first Quarterly Town Hall Meeting for this year, the sixth in the series, held at the Ajelogo Housing Scheme, Ajelogo Market Road, Akanimodo, Mile 12, said the construction of 181 roads is an improvement on the 114, two in each local government, which his administration promised to embark upon every year. Acknowledging that most of the requests made by residents during the interactive session at the meeting were on roads owing to the success of the 114 roads delivered in September 2016, the governor said his administration thought it wise to ensure that the roads captured for 2017 are key roads that would have economic impact on the people, hence the increase to 181 roads. Oba Akiolu urges support for gov Meantime, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, in his remarks urged Lagosians to continue to cooperate and support the present administration and desist from any form of clandestine meetings that may undermine the progress of Governor Ambode’s administration. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state The monarch also urged Ambode to give priority to the construction of Adeniji-Adele Road and ensure the construction of other roads that deserve utmost attention in the area. Choice of the 186 roads The Governor said that the choice of the roads to be constructed was made by the local governments in conjunction with the engineers, assuring that before the end of the year when the road would be delivered, the people would be better for it. Giving his account of stewardship in the last quarter, Governor Ambode said the choice of Akanimodo, Mile 12 as venue for the meeting was to show that the axis has not been left behind in the developmental progress ongoing in the state, saying he had come to listen to the needs of the people and where government intervention was in dire need. He said in the last quarter, his administration kicked off its “Rent-To-Own and Rental Housing Policy” aimed at providing affordable units across the three Senatorial Districts, disclosing that there are 4,355 housing units available with over 500 applicants prequalified so far, while allocation would commence next week. Expressing optimism that 2017 holds great expectations for Lagos, especially as the State gets set to mark its landmark Golden Jubilee on May 27, his administration would continue with its urban regeneration initiatives, building new infrastructure and maintaining existing ones. Police chief tasks monarchs Responding to questions that bordered on security, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni urged traditional rulers and community elders to caution their subjects especially the youths on the need to be law abiding and shun all types of criminal activities.

Lagos State Government opens modern libraries in eighteen secondary schools http://www.eyesoflagos.com/2017/01/lagos-state-government-opens-modern.html The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, has said that the Lagos State Government has completed the renovation of public libraries in 18 secondary schools across the state. Announcing that the state will unveil the Lagos Digital Library in February, Bank-Olemoh, said the upgrade of the public libraries in schools across the six education districts was in line with the commitment of the present administration to broaden the access to knowledge. The official said that the libraries are equipped with facilities such as new furniture, books, computer systems and internet facilities. He added that the libraries would make learning fun and contribute to improving exam outcomes for pupils. He said, “The online library will be accessible via an internet connection on a range of devices from desktop computers to feature phones. The initial content will include over 1,600 video tutorials and 2,000 study aids on core subjects from primary to senior secondary school curriculum. He also added that members of the public would be given opportunity to participate in a “Design Our Logo” competition, which will commence on January 20, towards the launch of the project. “Other content will include quality research papers from Lagos State Tertiary institutions covering a wide variety of topics digitised for the platform, vocational training videos, creatively presented history lessons and online courses on coding.”
