In 1959, a federal election was held and Azikiwe connived with Ahmadu Bello to ensure Yorubas were denied access to power at the federal level. Balewa became Prime Minister and Azikiwe emerged as president of Nigeria.

That was the situation of the country until January 15th, 1966 when Ibo soldiers who felt the Ibos are not dominating the federal government enough woke up in the middle of the night to murder the top military and political leaders from all other regions except the East. Without Yorubas offending the Igbos, those evil plotters killed Samuel Akintola, Brigadier Ademulegun, Colonel Ralph Shodeinde, Okotie Enoh etc. Did Yorubas go to war with the Igbos over these killings? If we did not go to war against the Igbos when you guys killed the premier of the western region and the second most senior military officer in the country, why should we go to war over the killing of Fajuyi?


The Igbo coup threw up a military government headed by an Igbo soldier. The rest of the country accepted the Ironsi government in the spirit of unity despite its illegitimacy until the north felt cheated and retaliated in July of 1966 to take back from the Igbos what they stole from them on 15th January, 1966. Fajuyi was a casualty of the coup just like Akintola, Ademoyega and Shodeinde were casualties of the first Igbo power grab coup. So I ask again, why should Yorubas fight the north because Agunyi Ironsi lost power? Did Ogundipe participate in any plot to grab power? Why should he be the beneficiary of someone else’s coup?

The rest of Nigeria accepted the leadership of Gowon after the second coup same way we accepted the leadership of Ironsi after the first coup. Sadly, you Igbos couldn’t stomach the fact that federal power had slipped away from you barely six month after your power grab coup. You started by trying to use Yorubas as the cannon fodder to fight your battle through a false advocacy for Ogundipe but we saw through you facade and didn’t bulge. You then went into a direct confrontation with the north and as usual, you won’t attack Sokoto or Kaduna but wanted to attack and takeover the western region and that wasn’t even enough, your stupid Ojukwu wanted to separate Lagos from the west and still want to retain power over the region. Now tell me, did Yorubas inform Ojukwu that we wanted out of Nigeria? Did we tell you guys that we needed an Army to chase Gowon away from Lagos? Some of you are just funny. Atiku has gone to court in US through some of his lackeys to get CSU to withdraw Tinubu's certificate so as to stop him from contesting the 2027. At least, no one is claiming he did not attend and graduate from CSU. The new argument is that he did not attend government college as he claimed in one of the records he submitted to CSU. The question is, did he submit any government college certificate to CSU? The answer is NO.
