It looks like JAMB has also been infected by the Igbophobia disease ravaging Nigeria. Out of 36 states, 5 Igbo states and Lagos (where Igbos live in large number) were affected by a contrived glitch that deprived hardworking and innocent students of their earned examination results. I am curious to see the names of those affected in Lagos. Won't be surprised if they are all or mostly Igbo names.

I watched the JAMB head on TV shedding crocodile tears and apologizing to the affected students. I was not deceived by that public stunt. There needs to be an explanation of how the glitch was so targeted and not nationwide. In civilized societies, there would be resignations and sackings.
Out of the over 300k candidates that were affected, about 200k are from the south west while a little over 100k candidates from the south east were affected. So, why ethnicize something like this? If truly such a plan exists, why did JAMB own up to the glitch with a public apology? Why are SW candidates the most affected?

What exactly are some of you bigots trying to plant in the minds of the affected youngsters? Are guys even okay at all?

To be honest, we need to redefine the continued coexistence of this country. The rest of us don’t deserve to be choked in the same country with folks that reason and behave like you people from the SE.

Good. So you've finally admitted that our net reserves hit $3.7 billion at the end of 2023.

And of course it will take you to ash your head at a celestial church to admit that Tinubu ad his superfluous purchases and presidential lifestyle was responsible for downing out reserves to that point.

Maybe, just maybe there's still some hope for you in this world.
The JP Morgan report was released in August, 2023 and it analyzed Nigeria's foreign reserve as at December, 2022. The $3.7 Billion was what Tinubu inherited when he took over on 29th May, 2023 and it was increased to $3.99 as at the end of 2023. Again, read and stop making false assumptions. Open the link below and see the date.

You're saying rubbish. Tinubu did actual plunge our NFR with his superfluous purchases.

And, those figures I put up there are from the CBN. So i should take JP Morgan's data ( a private firm) over the Apex bank of the concerned country. This your brand of weed must be for wild animals.
CBN is the apex bank in Nigeria. They dare not admit in 2023 that the net foreign reserve was around $3.7 billion. Admitting to that publicly would have further ruined the market at such a difficult period. However, when they made the announcement that we have reached a net reserve of $23 billion, they admitted to the true situation as at 2023. See the attached from premium times. Now, you should pay me for the lessons I’m giving you grin

Politics › FG Approves Establishment Of Armed Forest Guards by ALTERNATEID(op): 6:37pm On May 14, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of armed forest guards to secure Nigeria’s 1,129 forests from terrorists and criminal gangs.

This was made known on Wednesday by Sunday Dare, the special adviser to president Tinubu on media and public communication on his official X account.

“The President directed that the forest guards be well-trained and armed to carry out their primary duty of flushing out terrorists and other criminals hiding in the forests for illegal activities. The recruitment is a collaborative security effort between the federal and state governments.

“The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Ministry of Environment have been tasked with overseeing and ensuring the full implementation of the initiative.

“Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to be employed as personnel of the newly established outfit.

President Tinubu had earlier warned terrorists that his administration “would not surrender an inch of the country’s territory to terrorists, bandits, and other criminal gangs operating inside the forests.” He vowed that Nigeria “would take back its forests.”

As of December 2022, Nigeria's gross foreign reserves stood at approximately $37.1 billion, while as of December 2023, they had declined to around $33.2 billion.

For net foreign reserves (which exclude certain liabilities and commitments against the gross reserves), the figures were approximately:
- December 2022: $30.5 billion
- December 2023: $25.7 billion

As at December 2024 it stood at $23.11billion according to the central bank.

Lastly, the figure i posted about 2012 (the bolded part yeah?) was NET foreign reserves.

Sense is chasing you. I hope it catches you before you pass this your torch to your children.
I responded to you specifically because you claimed falsely that it was Tinubu who plunged the foreign reserve from $43.8 Billion to $3billion by using everything to buy private jet. At least, I am glad i've forced you to start doing a bit of a research before coming here to make false claim.

Secondly, the figures you claimed as net foreign reserve are false as our net foreign reserve as at the end of 2021 was $14billion. By the end of 2022, JP Morgan already estimated it to be $3.7 billion. You can check the link below for JP Morgan's review as published in 2023.
https://nairametrics.com/2023/08/21/jp-morgan-estimates-nigerias-net-external-reserve-to-be-around-3-7-billion/

So, it is the Tinubu administration that moved the net foreign reserve from $3.7 billion to $23 billion. Every sensible person should be applauding the effort of the government and not trying to make false claim to ridicule this great achievement.

Qadaffi2idiamin:
Can i tell you that many nations whether developing, developed or (underdeveloped) if any has subsidies put in place.

In US, agro subsidies, in UK same even more with social welfare for the unemployed, in Finland, free education for some courses and cheap for some others, even in poor Mali as you may assume, more recently free education for all from Primary to university level.

Now Nigeria with all her wealth and natural endowment can't subsidize power, energy, nerither health care or education even agro?

What they heck are you saying? That a baboon becomes president and throws the entire nation into penury to please some skinny western folks wearing black suits?

Ogah... you need to study why nations fail and why nations succeed.
To start with, Nigeria is a poor country and not a wealthy country like you all assume. Secondly, government is still heavily subsidizing education, power and Agriculture. Public primary and secondary education is still free in most states including payment for WAEC that was pioneered by Bola Tinubu in Lagos. Public University education is heavily subsidized and recently, academic calendar has been stable thanks to Tinubu meeting most of ASUU demands. Apart from those in highbrow areas on band A, majority of Nigerians still don't pay the market rate for electricity. Health care services in all public PHC are free except for cost of drugs. Even in Secondary health care centers, the cost of medical care is heavily subsidized compare to what you will pay in a private hospital fir the same services. Fertilizer is specially subsidized for farmers and all other Agric implements are VAT exempted. All our River Basin also provide an all year round water support for farmers.

So, where some of you get your false information of government not subsidizing anything for the people is worrisome. Are you guys truly ignorant or you just want to deliberately post outright falsehood? Finally, no serious country in the world can sustain subsidizing PMS. Nigeria has tried it and failed. It is a policy that almost bankrupted Nigeria. Tinubu did the country and all future president to comes a big favor by removing it and taking the blame. No future president including all those condemning the president today will bring it back.

I understand the breakdown, but the issue isn’t just about costs. The question is: why are we still facing such high prices when we have a local refinery? We were promised that local refining would help reduce costs significantly. If we’re still paying almost the same as imported fuel, where’s the benefit? The system needs to be more transparent and efficient. It’s not about paying the balance; it’s about ensuring that the process itself isn’t overpriced or inefficient.
The good thing about PMS is that Dangote is a private refinery with no government control. Dangote buys crude oil from both NNPC and foreign suppliers. He has to sell at a price that will help him recover his production cost plus profit margin. Tinubu cannot fix the price for him except he his willing to pay for the balance. No pricing template can come up with a price below what Dangote is currently selling. The only way to reduce price for the masses is through a return to the subsidy regime and no one wants that again due to the corruption involved.

If you can remember that during the #Endbadgovernance protests# Nigerians were protesting for fuel price to reduce to 200 naira or 300 naira per litre of fuel.
At least tinubu should sell PMS at 300 naira per litre.
The Ex depot price from Dangote refinery is N825. Add cost of transportation and marketers margin to it, we should be talking of N900. So, you want PMS sold at N300, who will pay for the balance of N600 that will be removed from the actual cost?

Building our foreign reserves to $25billion is not prosperity. In 2012 under president Goodluck Jonathan, our reserves was at $43.8billion.

It was Tinubu that plunged the reserves to 3bullion in the first place when he went around buying yacht and escalades and a Private jet.

This propaganda will not put food on your table. 30k is not enough money to become a rascal online.
The part in bold has exposed your deep ignorance about what you are talking about. It’s just unfortunate we have people who make so much noise yet know very little. If you don’t understand the difference between foreign reserve and net foreign reserve, what contributions are you trying to make on this thread?

Tinubu met a foreign reserve of $30 billion and a net foreign reserve of $3.7 billion based on JP Morgan records. As at today, Nigeria’s foreign reserve is about $42 billion while our net reserve is $23 billion. So tell me, how did Tinubu plunged your foreign reserve from $43.8 billion to $3billion?

If you’re working for your N30k per month is understandable but don’t think we don’t have Nigerians that haven’t been bewitched or hypothesized.

Politics › Re: Public Debt: Nigeria’s Biggest Creditors After Repaying IMF Loans by ALTERNATEID: 8:44am On May 14, 2025
When Tinubu became president in 2023, we owed foreign airlines over $3billion and owe foreign bank about $6billion in unpaid letters of credit. In fact, things were so bad that JP Morgan had to quickly announce that our net reserve as at that time was $3.7 billion.

Today, the Tinubu administration has cleared all the foreign airline debt and also paid all the letters of credit debt to foreign banks. We’ve also at the same time moved our net reserve from $3.7 billion to over $23 billion in less than two years. In addition, we’ve cleared our IMF loan obtained during the covid pandemic era completely and that’s a fact. Just two days ago, we cleared the first tranche of N100billion Sukuk bond that was taken by the Buhari administration.

When the opposition media try to ridicule governments effort, it’s very important we contextualize the issues and remind ourselves where we are coming from. The transparency and accountability that this current administration has displayed when it comes to public debt is astounding. Something we’ve never seen before.

They made a very big mistake. Nigeria will never know true peace and unity until we legally define how to rotate power between the competing zones/ethnicity. The ethnic tension we are having today is largely as a result of the competition for presidential power and nothing else. With rotation legally defined, everyone will simply wait for their turn instead of constantly trying to tear down the government headed by an opposing/competing ethnicity/ zone.
