The shame is really on the senators who kept following him like Mumu to the CCT. The PDP senators are even more disgusting, they are against the confirmation of Amaechi as a minister because of existing corruption charges but are ready to die with Saraki who is facing more serious charges before the tribunal. |
Kudos to the president on this, Nigeria will definitely benefit from the natural resources in that area in the future. When good news like this are reported, wailers will pretend it never happened. They only rush after negative news. |
Frankiss44:At least, Fashola and Amaechi have never claimed to be an anti corruption activists. Dino Melaye is a bloody hypocrite. |
Senator Dino Melaye is pictured below arriving the code of conduct tribunal alongside senator Stella Oduah. Just two years ago, the same Dino Melaye led series of protest calling for the removal of Stella Oduah as the minister of Aviation during the BMW bullet proof car scandal. Today, they are united in supporting Bukola Saraki who is standing trial for false asset declaration.

MrLaw101:Her actually. Yoruba's doing Nigeria proud all over the world without making noise about it. Congratulations to her. Lalasticlala, let's celebrate this Nigerian. |
A young Nigerian pharmacist, Seun Omobo, has won a keenly contested election to emerge chairperson of the International Pharmaceutical Federation–Young Pharmacists’ Group (FIP-YPG), making history as the first African to occupy the position. Pharm. Omobo won the election to chair the FIP-YPG which has been in existence since 2001, during the recently concluded Annual Congress of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) held in Dusseldorf, Germany from 29 September to 3 October. Omobo works with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and manages the WHO Prequalification of Medicines Programme for Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries. She had previously served the FIP-YPG as the public relations officer and was instrumental to the establishment of the Young Pharmacist Group Nigeria (YPG-N) modelled after the global group in 2012. Omobo was also responsible for the YPG-N Professional Travel Grant, which has sponsored at least 18 young Nigerian pharmacists to international programmes within the last two years. Nigeria was a double winner at the FIP-YPG election in Germany, as another young Nigerian pharmacist, Oluwatosin Adeyemi, also emerged project coordinator of the group. Adeyemi is one of the few young Nigerian pharmacists in academia. He lectures in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, University of Lagos. Aside winning the project coordinator position, Adeyemi also made a poster presentation on the topic: “Assessing Beliefs about Medications for Hypertension and their Impact on Adherence” during the FIP conference. Although, the main leadership of the FIP-YPG is a team of three elected officers (chairperson, project coordinator and public relations officer) usually from different countries, Nigerians are occupying two of the positions. A young American pharmacist, Sheena Patel, was the only other non-Nigerian that emerged as winner during the elections and she is to serve as the group’s public relations officer. They all will be serving the FIP-YPG for one-year. The FIP-YPG was established 15 years ago as a network of FIP, mandated to encourage young pharmacists to be actively involved in international pharmacy activities and also work within the sections and organisation of FIP. Members of the FIP-YPG are recent graduates of School of Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences (within the last five years) or a pharmacist under 35 years of age. The FIP-YPG provides a platform for connecting with young pharmacists from around the world who are seeking networks, professional innovation and support. FIP-YPG also supports members with travel awards and research grants. http://www.pharmanewsonline.com/nigerian-makes-history-as-fip-ypg-chairperson/ |
lomprico:Why not? A recognised Oba can visit another recognised oba. |
InHim4Him: ichoku:Traditional institutions don't exist in vacuum. They are a creation of the chieftancy laws of every state. That is why 5% of local government allocations goes to them. So, it doesn't matter whether you like it or not, you are subject to a king once you live in his territory. |
lomprico:The Eze Ndigbo of Akure is not a king in Akure. He's the leader of the Igbo community in Akure who was so appointed by the Deji in council the same way titled and ceremonial chiefs are appointed in the city. He can't be accorded the same respect that a visiting king of another territory will be accorded. |
calaway:You can't have two kings in a single territory. The Eze Ndigbo of Akure is at best the leader of the Igbo community in Akure and not a king. If a real Igbo king like the Obi Onitsha is to visit the Akure palace, he will be accorded all due respect. |
SirJeffry:Good of you. Next time, don't stray into my mention with your silly insult. |
SirJeffry:Go and give your father's flat head a kunk. Omo ale alaileko. |
ichoku:Is that how you abuse your father at home? Dint your parents teach you not to talk to strangers rudely? You better go get some home training before exposing your parents to public ridicule on a public forum. |
breadandtea:The traditional culture in the North is very different from what is obtainable in the south west. In Yoruba tradition, the subject of a King can not wear a beaded crown in the presence of the King. It is that simple. |
One of Nigeria's best columnist. I wish him quick recovery. |
seunmsg:Thank God Nigerians voted out the dumbo, he would have bankrupted the country before our very eyes. |
Petersobiora:You can only add to the excess crude account when you sell crude oil above the budgeted benchmark. |
minifuworld:Bad belle, both full time and contract workers will work there. |
NewNigeriaMind:I agree with most of your points but Tinubu himself need to learn not to fight all battles. He could have handled this assembly leadership crisis better if only he was ready to concede some ground to other power blocs in the party. Like Dele Momodu said earlier today, we can't all continue to deceive him that he will be the sole decision maker in the party. Lots of other people also contributed significantly to the success of the party. He most recognise their contributions and carry them along both in decision making and sharing of positions. Federal government is not Lagos where he runs things unchecked. He his a leader I so much belief in and I hope he would have learnt one or two lessons from what happened on Tuesday. In this life, you win some and lose some. You can't always win or have your way all the time. |
ginawest:Believe whatever lie you want to believe, Lagos remain the most populous state in Nigeria. |
chiefinalowo:No way! For the sake of National balance and federal character, the SGF should go to the SS. SE contributed little or nothing to the APC federal government and the position of deputy senate president is more than enough for them. Amaechi must be the next SGF. |
ginawest:Which state is the most populous in Nigeria if I may ask you madam Biafra? |
The richest man in Africa meets the new governor of the most populous and powerful state in Nigeria. Hope they will discuss how to fast track the refinery that is currently being constructed by Dangote in Lagos and other issues of economic importance to the state. |
The clerk of the NA was part of the whole grand conspiracy. He knew quiet well that most APC senators elect were not present and he went ahead to conduct the election. The APC led federal government should not waste any time in retiring him. Treachery should not be condone in any manner. |
fanysteve:Let the court decide on the legality or otherwise of the election. No need pre-empting the courts decision. |
atlwireles:It was divided in your presence right? |
No need to expel him. APC should just ensure that the 51 senators that attended the ICC meeting yesterday remain united and loyal to the party. The party should then bid their time, dangle some irresistible carrots before some PDP senators who may not be favoured in the standing committee that saraki will soon constitute and then move in to impeach him. |
fkaz:No part of SW will support Saraki if he decides to contest in 2019. |
MyMouth:The president can no longer afford to stay neutral in this matter. Looking at the antecedents of Saraki and how he betrayed his party yesterday, it his very obvious he has his own personal agenda which seems to be at variance with that of the president and the APC. With Atiku and former PDP governors in the picture as well, it's obvious APC and the Buhari presidency is under threat. Tinubu and Buhari should not waste time in plotting the impeachment of both Saraki and Ekweremadu as soon as possible. The senate leadership is too sensitive to be left in the hands of an ambitious, corrupt and disloyal character. |
temitemi1:Get yourself properly educated first before coming here to say an accomplished leader is finished. |
President Buhari really need to seat up and start learning how to play Nigeria's political game. So many myopic people are running helter-skelter abusing Tinubu forgetting that Buhari's presidency is what is under threat with what happened yesterday. A very disloyal Saraki who doesn't care about the party interest and a PDP nominated Ekweremadu heading the senate will be a big knot to crack for the president. I just pray he his not frustrated out of office in the end. |
Good decision and a positive one for democracy. The court should decide on the legality or otherwise of what happened yesterday. If not for anything, we can have a legal precedent that we will refer to in future. Impunity must not be allowed to go unchallenged. |
