Devotional for November 9th, 2014.

Topic: The Family (3).

Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Do children have their role to play in the family? Are they just to complete the number or have specific mandates they must fulfill?

Yes they have their roles and mandates they must fulfill. The Child is a reward and must endeavour to remain same all through life. Every child must avoid whatever causes pains to the parents.

Every child must also understand that they are from the Lord and act accordingly. They must love the Lord, serve the Lord, honour the Lord and above all Fear the Lord.

Children are to be trained and guided in life. There are no specific chores for males or females. Help them learn hardwork early. The child must love work today if he will appreciate hardwork tomorrow.

Parents must punish indiscipline, frown strongly at wrongs, correct in love, train their children in the fear of God and above all help the children fulfill their God given mandate.

Prayers
1. Father thank you for a new day and for your word to me today, Amen.
2. Father bless our children in Jesus name, Amen.
3. Father disconnect our children from every satanic agenda that wants to cut them short, Amen.

Declaration: Our children will be taught of the Lord.

Hello bellefuls,

Religion / Re: Should Child Dedication Be Abolished Since It Is Found In The Law Of Moses? by Alwaystrue(f): 2:09pm On Nov 04, 2014
dein77:

My dear, thanks for the dedication messages.
Actually I still bring my tithe, though I haven't done so in months. I don't intend stopping !
However, I now understand the issue too well, and in the light of further revelations, may stop. My grouse is the undue emphasis laid by many pastors on tithing and the accompanying threat of being sent a devourer should one discontinue paying the tithe.
My dear, I believe God isn't unjust or unmindful of the numerous givings I do every month. As a matter of fact, I give more than 4 times my tithe every single month.
Tithe is voluntary. And nobody should be cajoled into tithing. God only blesses voluntary giving.
Lastly, let him that tithe continue; and let him that doesn't tithe seek not to condemn the other.
Everybody should be convinced in their own mind.

You are welcome.

It is ok, I was not really out to convince but to put things in perpective and let anyone chose what they want to do. Everyone has the grace to chose o.

I understand many take it overboard but many take fasting, praying and attending church programmes overboard yet it doesn't stop people from doing it. It is left to our choice and discretion.

Yes, you could not have said it better really. It is voluntary just like even accepting Jesus Christ is. God checks the heart so anyone who feels he gives and yet is double-minded, acts all forced and does not let it go from his heart, should not expect anything from the Lord (James 1:7).

You know the kind of giving that moved God so much that he swore by Himself to bless Abraham, one in which we all enjoy today? When He had realeased Isaac to the Lord as a Sacrifice even before he carried it out. His action of physically doing it cemented it. That is the kind of giving God wants.

Reason why I laugh seeing people bicker over a tenth. What will they do when they have to give all.

As you said, let everyone purpose to give and be persuaded in His mind.

Thanks.

dein77:

Exactly my approach to the tithe issue. Immediately it occurred to me Apostle Paul and the other Early Church didn't speak about Tithe, I made up my mind concerning it. Nobody can place a curse on whom Christ has been made a curse for!
Till date, it's my nature to check every single conviction of mine one a superior argument is presented before me. The era of clinging to beliefs just because they have been there for centuries is long gone.

Great to know the dedication went well. Take care of all o (madam and child(ren)).

Actually Paul did not speak much about both tithe and offering yet Paul himself brought offerings to the temple and also said that the Lord had commanded that those who preached the gospel lived of it and he called it a right so what else does one need to hear. We all know he said he had to even take wages from other churches to minister to a particular church. What is the reason and purpose of a thing should be the question?

It is never a good idea to cling to beliefs just because...so you are on the right path for searching for the truth yourself...one thing many forget to check in the Malachi 3:8 was that God was speaking about BOTH TITHES AND OFFERING...So it is strange to say you won't tithe because it comes with a curse yet you are comfortable with offering.

No one in Christ is under a curse as you said. Because Christ is the one who died for him and will teach him what to do and how to live. Jesus had himself spoken about tithe and never condemned it but instead told us the right way to do it, he said same about prayer and others. As long as anyone LACKS LOVE no amount of giving (even if he offers himself to be burnt for others) is of value..I Cor. 13 even says so. God looks at the heart to qualify the action.

Let us put things in proper perspective. Cheers.

Religion / Re: Many Churches Are Still Following The Law Of Moses. by Alwaystrue(f): 11:19am On Nov 03, 2014
Kingdompartaker:
2 cor 3 vs 7-17 (NKJV)
7: But if the ministry of DEATH, WRITTEN and ENGRAVED ON STONES, was glorious, so that the children of Isreal could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,
8: how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
9: For if the ministry of CONDEMNATION had glory, the ministry of RIGHTEOUSNESS exceeds much more in glory.
10: For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, beacuse of the glory that excels.
11: For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.
12: Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech_
13: Unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Isreal could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.

As scripture said, the ministry of death was what was engraved in stones. That is the law of the Letter, for the letter kills but the spirit gives life. God said He will write His laws on people’s minds and hearts. It is the same law but on a different platform and viewed and understood differently. Heb. 10:16; Jer. 31:33

The law of the letter says ‘Do not kill’; the Law of the Spirit says ‘Do not hate’. Matthew 5:21-22; I John 3:15;

The law of the letter says ‘Do not commit adultery’; the Law of the Spirit says ‘Do not look lustfully at a woman’. Matt. 5:27-28

The law of the letter says ‘Do not covet’; the law of the Spirit says ‘Be content or do not envy’. James 4:2; Matthew 6:24

The law of the letter says ‘ Remember to keep the sabbath day holy’; The law of the Spirit says ‘Jesus is your Sabbath, come to Jesus you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest for I am the Lord of the Sabbath so rather than run around in fear, come to me in prayer. Love yourself enough to rest in me, rest your body, find time for family’. Matthew 11:28-29; Matthew 12:8; Hebrews 4:9

And so on.

God had to change his approach on engraving it in stones to engraving it in hearts that should be soft and understand it from the Spirit.

Kingdompartaker:

14: But their minds were BLINDED. For until this day the same veil remains UNLIFTED in the reading of the OLD TESTAMENT, because the veil is taken away in CHRIST.
15: But even to this DAY, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their HEART.
16: Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17: Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY.
Can someone please explain the scriptural verses

The key word was VEIL not testament. Everything in the Old testament has it’s corresponding Spirit meaning. There is a Spirit behind all those laws. All you need do is to ask is for help from the Spirit to tell you the purpose of it, but it’s end is LOVE. Today many still read the old testament and still do not understand that there is a whole lot behind it and because they read it with veiled eyes, the meaning is not revealed to them as only Jesus takes that awaynthe veil hiding the truth of the law. Read all the gospels and see how Jesus took away the veil of the old testatament as seen in my first response above.

Those in Christ will see the same Old Testament scripture and read it with eyes of understanding unlike those whose minds are so blinded by the flesh their hearts are full of dead mens bones. That is why for example a man can think all sort of lustfulness and have practically raped a woman in his heart but even though he did not do it physically he will say he did not break any law. Ofcourse, he has broken the law of the Spirit even if he may be blameless according to the letter. This is what sin takes advantage of and use to make him fall efentually for as a man thinks in his heart so is he. That is why Paul could say the Law is Spiritual (Romans 7:24) and He serves the law of God with His mind but in the flesh He is serving the law of sin. (Romans 7:25).

Jesus was also vehement about people who turn the traditions of men against the word of God. That was why Jesus had to explain to the two guys on the way to Emmaus beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, interpreting to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning and referring to Himself, as they knew the law and looked at it but could not really SEE it.

When Jesus said He did not come to abolish the law but fulfill it, He was simply telling us that He came to fulfil the law in it’s righteousness and Spirit. (Romans 8:3-4). It is all HINGED ON LOVE. Read love to all laws and youbwill realise the intent of it.
Let no man think being in the grace of Christ is much easier than under the law. It means both your SPIRIT/MIND and body are aligned to God’s will using His mercy and grace to constantly help us. It far from absolves you from doing right and good unlike many think. It is even much harder as it is possible to do unrighteousness by a simple thought. That is why we have the Spirit to help us when we yield to Him.

God bless.

Like i said earlier, God did away with animal sacrifice for sin, that He might establish the second sacrifice( Jesus), this is Grace and is applicable anywhere. God's approach in this case changed and the Spirit behind the law is what God is interested in. The truth remains the same, but how it is applied in the light of greater understanding may change.

Hello Bidam,
Been a while. I hope you are fine and family too.

Thanks for the above as it is so apt. Just this weekend, i was speaking to some people on the word of God and i am so glad the people had a better understanding now. Things that people called old testament now understand the spirit of it. The truth of all God's words and commands remain the same but depends on how we apply it today and i gave examples like the sacrifice that must keep burning on the altar that means our lives should remain a constant burning unto God today. God gave me the idea of the proverbs the elders use that people give contemporary meanings today and they lit up in understanding.

When Paul said the law is spiritual he could not have said it better. So many treasures hidden in His word. So awesome.

@dein77, happy baby dedication of your lovely baby girl to the most High. It is not farfetched on how today's child dedication is applicable for those who chose to do it.

Get Rid of the Non-Essentials

Tuesday, 28 October 2014 00:05

'Let us lay aside every weight... and let us run.' Hebrews 12:1 NKJV

In the days of the Roman Empire, Olympic runners practised with heavy weights strapped to their bodies. But on the day of the race all the weights were stripped from them; hence we are told in Scripture, ‘Let us lay aside every weight… and let us run.’ When Elijah passed by, Elisha was busy ploughing. This was Elisha’s moment of opportunity. He could become a prophet and enjoy twice the success of his new mentor. But first he had to be willing to break his plough and sacrifice his yoke of oxen. His plough and oxen represented the financial security he was willing to walk away from in order to fulfil God’s plan for his life.

Think for a moment about your dream, and everything that will result from it. If you’re like most people, what comes to mind are the benefits you’ll receive, the places you’ll go, the people you’ll meet, the things you’ll own, and the position or title you’ll earn. Do you notice anything in particular about that list? It outlines all the things that will be added to you, and none of the things you’ll have to give up in order to achieve it. And your greatest challenge won’t be giving up the obvious things you know will hurt you; it’ll be giving up the good things you like but won’t help you.

Removing the non–essentials from your daily routine will be a constant struggle, but it’s worth fighting for. Why? Because most people who fail to reach their destination aren’t stopped because of insurmountable barriers, but because they’re worn out trying to carry too many things on their journey.

Be Strong in the Lord

Monday, 27 October 2014

'Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.' Ephesians 6:10 NIV

The Bible says, ‘Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh–and–blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armour so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armour of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.’ (Ephesians 6:10–18 NLT)

The way to make a comeback is to get back up and move forward. Winning consists of getting up one more time than you were knocked down. Booker T. Washington said, ‘Success is not measured by the heights one attains, but by the obstacles one overcomes in its attainment.’ The God you serve is bigger than the obstacles you face. The strength He provides is greater than the forces arrayed against you. So be strong in the Lord!

1.. Listen or do rap music

You may need to possibly ask yourself what being 'born again' means. So something/one made you realise you need to be a new person to wipe of the slate of your past hence you should know what being born again means as @lastchild is like a new baby.

What do you want written on the new slate (another chance) you are given? That is a question only you can answer. What made you ask your OP question?

You are at liberty to choose what you want but remember that you cannot chose the consequence of your choice.

Thanks so much for the beautiful piece.

You statement on following pattern of achievement is so apt. God that told Moses to strike the rock in what instance and speak to the rock in another. Or is it when Jesus used mud to heal a blind man while in another case he healed a blind, mute man without it being recorded he used the same approach. God always lets us know he uses what He wills to heal us. He shows us Himself in so many ways.

Good morning dear mamas and papas,
Congrats to all who got their testimonies since the beginning of the month...it shall continue.

I will like to encourage everyone this morning that 'It shall come to pass'. Do not worry, do not fret but keep your praise on!

Genesis 37:22
And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

Genesis 37:26-28
26And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
27Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
28Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

Reuben might have cast you into the pit but Judah (Judah means PRAISE) will lift you out.

What an effrontery had the enemy to come against Judah in
2 Chronicles 20:1,4,22
1 It came to pass after this also, [b]that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

Imagine Judah (meaning praise) praised God and see how the enemy was smitten before their face. Step into the atmosphere of praise and worship and be glad and thankful for who God is. He never fails, His effizy is too much.

Look at TY Bello. I never knew she was even married, yet for 9 years she waited...she did not wait in depression but instead waited in songs, in doing mighty things that are note-worthy and today she is a mother of not one but two bouncing baby boys. God is just too faithful.

As you go today, keep humming that praise tune under your breathe, dance and worship God and know that God dwells in the praises of His people. Make God a tabernacle of praise today with your songs.

Be Flexible

Wednesday, 15 October 2014

'The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.' Psalm 37:23 NKJV

The Psalmist writes, ‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.’ (Psalm 37:23–24 NKJV)

Observe:

(1) God delights in the fact that you’re willing to step out in faith and try.
(2) He doesn’t guarantee that you won’t stumble, but that ultimately He won’t let you fail.
(3) When you feel like you can’t go on, He will uphold and strengthen you.

What more could you ask for? Now, God never changes, but life does. So you must be ready to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, is credited with having been a visionary leader. His dream was to provide value to customers in order to improve their lives. But he was notorious for changing plans and abandoning strategies that didn’t work. Sam’s son Jim Walton admitted, ‘We all sniggered at some writers who viewed Dad as a grand strategist who intuitively developed complex plans and implemented them with precision. Dad thrived on change, and no decision was ever sacred.’ What good is a well–planned strategy if it doesn’t yield good results?

To quote Winston Churchill: ‘However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.’ God is more committed to the vision He’s given you than you are. But when He leads you in a new direction, you must be ready to follow Him. Like Israel in the wilderness, when the guiding cloud moved they had to move with it. The same goes for you. So, be flexible.

WinsomeX: Very well put Alwaystrue but I hope you won't mind my subjecting your presentation to the light of God's word. It's our duty to do seeing that as Berean Christian we must do this; and the other reason is this scripture in Acts 15:
Acts 15:2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
This will not be the first question on theological issues in Christendom and we should never fear such questions deteriorating to "no small dissension and disputation". Unfortunately, we no longer have apostles in Jerusalem to take our questions to for resolving but we have the scriptures.
My next post here will be a careful analysis of some of your points. The OP is a tither. I do not necessarily wish to change him to an antitither. I however owe him information. If after he has that information, he wishes to continue tithing, I wish him all the best.

Thanks. However, I would advise you remain on your course based on your earlier post of bringing the OP to an understanding of grace rather than trying to 'subject my presentation to the light of God's word' like my above post is not already riddled with it and I basically summarised each in my own statements. I hope you know Jesus is Himself the Word of God.

Deciding to focus on my posts and doing a 'careful analysis of some of my points' looks like you are trying to enter some form of elimination contest. However, if you seem to have something to latch unto, please go ahead to enlighten the OP.

Hmmmmn, has the person behind this monnikker had a discuss with me before?

dein77: Good afternoon all.
Lately, I became a bit curious about the issue of tithe in the dispensation of GRACE.
I understand grace doesn't give the license to continue practising sin.
I know many Christians have some issues with tithe. I'm currently a tithe, but I find it rather strange that neither the Lord Jesus Christ nor Apostle Paul emphasised tither in the New Testament.
Whence cometh the idea of tithe?
I want to know. I have no plans to discontinue tithing, but in this age and time, wemust serve God with uunderstanding.
Awaiting your lovely inputs.
God bless us all.

Hello OP,
Curiousity helps us to better learn and understand and know more about the word of God. The thirst is very important.

Grace helps us to be what God originally intended for us to be:

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them
. SO when we come to Christ we just allow Him to do what He has already done, through us.

Many things were not emphasized in the New Testament that Christ gave except for us to hear him and abide in Him. Every other thing falls into place. Not more are you told what to do like a kid but you are expected like a responsible adult to know what to do in love. That was basically what all the old laws were hinged on. Christ simply gave us the big picture rather than the bits and pieces which the OT laws were trying to piece together.

Both Jesus and Apostle Paul spoke about Tithe actually. They spoke about offering and other things as well.

Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone

I Corinthians 9:9-14
9 For it is written in the law of Moses, thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

Christ had every opportunity to cancel tithe in the first verse but instead he even added other things to be done. The very first tither gave his tithe for the service of God through a priest, when God gave the command to dedicate the tithe it was to those who ministered at the temple for the service they serve, when Jesus gave the word to tithe he stated that it should be done with proper understanding and when Apostle Paul spoke about the way ministers of old lived of the things of temple and altar it was also obvious what he was talking about.

When you have love, you would know that those who teach you in the word should be partakers of all goods things (Galatians 6:6). Paul said those taught in the word should share with their teacher in all good things not even some. Complete understanding of the old testament and new testament helps us to rightly divide.

The premise is what is the essence, when you understand that then you know why you do what you do.
In the this period of the fulness of grace we enjoy in Christ, nothing is a must because Christ expects we do all things in love and not by force. That is why many things Christ told us was more of what we ought to/should do and not necessarily what we must do.

This topic has been over-flogged on this forum, if you search well enough you would see many posts and debates on it infact. You would get a better and balanced view therefore.

Devotional for October 1st, 2014.

Topic: A New beginning.

Good Morning Beloved and I welcome you to the 10th month of the year. Happy New month. How was your night? Glory to God.

Bible Reading:
Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

This month will mark a new beginning for a reader of this devotional. It will bring a newness in every facet of life. New experiences, new testimonies, new victories, new opportunities and so on.

In Genesis 8:5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen) we see Noah and his people experience a new beginning after the flood.

I see the waters that have overwhelmed you suddenly decrease, Amen. You will see the top of the mountain, you will see the manifestation of that testimony, you will see the heights you have longed for and above all you will see the wonders of God.

It is a new beginning for you and for me. It wasn't a closed chapter for Noah so yours isn't closed. I declare a new beginning in the name of Jesus. Receive it, celebrate it and spread the joy.

All things will answer to new in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer points:

1. Father thank you for a new day and for your word to me today, Amen.
2. Father let every area of my life experience a newness in Jesus name, Amen.
3. Father in this new month, favour my life and my pursuits, Amen.

Declaration: It is a new beginning for me, Amen.

Do have a beautiful day. Happy New Month. Shalom.
