ayoku777:

Maybe we need to go back to the fundamentals and define who a believer is.

I think this is the core issue. Who is a believer? Checking this is to bring out the words of Jesus Christ and add the epistles of Paul.
Seems people think believing in Jesus involves just the notion he died for our sins and rose again and discard his whole person and the truth he spoke even in the gospels.

@Image123 and @Bidam,
Happy new year. Good to know i was missed wink grin Gosh that was vain. cheesy

Guys and @FortresOfChrist,
Nice watching the different posts you get to learn from everyone no matter how minute.
The book of Revelation is just like the book of Malachi but the difference is just that God was promising to send John and His Son to forestall His destroying the earth while in Revelation it is total destruction if they refused to repent.

A prisoner who is justified but still feels the grace he has received for justification enables him to act less disciplined will only have himself to blame. There would not have been need for the warnings of Paul and Christ in Revelation to His Church if He didn't mean business.

We are saved and justified without having to work for it so we are enabled and less stressed to work in Him and do what He had fore-ordained by being a pleasure to God. Our lives are just not our own and that is why we have to be living sacrifices...it is a painful and uncomfortable process...it is never easy. That was why Paul said he died daily....mortify your members he said.

Happy New Year guys. cheesy
@OP, ah I saw my name and thought to comment though it has been done justice to already. @Bidam, @Candour @Ayoku's comments seem to cover it all.

ayoku777:

Yes, carnality can degenerate into lukewarmness, lukewarmness into spiritual indifference, and indifference into unbelief. But until unbelief, he is still saved and righteous by imputation.
I think I particularly like @Ayoku's comment here and more or less sums it all up.
I believe unbelief starts when we start overlooking and 'It doesn't mean'-ing what Jesus says or how He acts in the belief that whatever we do we are covered since we have righteosness in us.
As was said, sinning as falling and rising is different from falling and wallowing and even becoming indifferent about it.

This is a real call to action. God has created all things for us, we are meant to innovate further. If we could move from stine-age to present day technology, we need to move on so today's technology will be seen as stone-age and this is in all areas of life.

The bible says in Proverbs 25:2 - It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
Let us go out there are wrought curious works as Bezaleel did and to think he has the Spirit of God too for it.

Tap into God's Creativity

Friday, 09 January 2015

'He...reveals His thoughts to man.' Amos 4:13 NIV

I read a story: ‘A while back I bought an interesting torch. Before I decided to buy it I asked the sales lady how long the battery would last. “As long as you do,” she replied. “What do you mean?” I queried. “You are the battery,” she explained. “There’s no battery inside. You have to pump the handle at the bottom of the flashlight to make it light up.” I tried it, and sure enough I generated the power needed to make it light up! As soon as I stopped pumping the light went out…

If you make the right commitment to an idea but it seems impossible…pray…and keep pumping. Bright ideas will come your way—ideas that come from God’ (Isaiah 48:17). Albert Einstein said it’s important that we never stop asking questions, or lose our holy curiosity. God’s Word says He ‘forms the mountains…creates the wind, and reveals His thoughts to man.’ Imagine tapping into the resources of a God Who knows you and can fill your mind with imaginative, inspired, innovative ‘thoughts’. Jesus knows the mind of God, the plans of God, the will of God and the purposes of God because He is God. And Paul says, ‘We understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.’ (1 Corinthians 2:16 NLT)

As Ted Engstrom observes, ‘Creativity has been built into every one of us. Each of us lives less of the life God intended when we choose not to release the creative powers we possess.’ When you tap into God’s creativity, He helps you see things not as they are, but as they canbe. And that can change your life!

I just want to tell someone who thinks it is over for him/her because of one report or the other that one thing we should know is that God hold's all our lives and can turn things around at the bat of an eyelid. Do not think it is over for you. We have a very great example in Nigeria and till today it is still so shocking how it all happened.

Yes, our former president Obasanjo was in a jail as at May 29, 1998. If not for the sudden death of the dictator, Abacha, he may have been killed. I am sure people would have shook their heads for him and pitied him but exactly a year after, on May 29, 1999 Obasanjo was sworn in as President. Who could have thought this could happen? Can you even fathom it?

Look at yourself very well today because by the last quarter in year 2015, you will look at yourself again in shock at the gift(s) of God in your hands.

If this cannot inspire you today, I wonder what will. wink

Topic: Don’t go to Tarshish (1).

Jonah 1:3
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

Beloved this year I want to implore you not to go to Tarshish. Every journey to Tarshish is a journey to destruction. Every journey to Tarshish is a journey to the belly of the fish. Every journey to Tarshish is a stormy journey full of an unpredictable wind.

Any journey outside God’s will is a journey to Tarshish. Any Journey in disobedience to divine instruction or in self-will might just be another Tarshish trip. Jonah embarked on this kind of trip and regretted his action.
Added: Any journey you embark on that is not of God, you pay the fare yourself.

Beloved this is a new year. Avoid every agenda to cause you to flee from the presence of the Lord. Avoid every onslaught to deny you of divine cover. Beloved refuse to be smuggled out of your eternal cover. Say NO to a trip to Tarshish.

Make choices, take decisions, go to places that God will go with you. The year is still very early so it is time to make up our mind not to be ‘JONAHIC’ in nature. Every instruction God gives is the best and will not lead us astray. I pray for a reader today that you will not go to Tarshish this year but will stay in line with all that God expects of you, Amen.

Prayers
1. Father thank you for a new day and for your word to me today, Amen.
2. Father discourage me from every Tarshish journey this year, Amen.
3. Father help me to wholly obey all you instructions this year, Amen.

Declaration: A trip to Tarshish is a trip of destruction.

Have a fulfilled weekend ahead. Shalom

When Fatigue Threatens You (2)

Wednesday, 07 January 2015

'Be still, and know that I am God.' Psalm 46:10 NIV

When you’re running on fumes, instead of berating yourself for failed attempts at ‘spirituality’, Kristin Armstrong says it’s time to ‘tie a tourniquet on the wound of busyness…[or] we’ll bleed a spiritual death. Doing more, and doing it faster, isn’t taking us to a place of peace. The distraction is nothing more than a momentary escape. Sooner or later we have to stop… Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” When we’re forced to be still the magnitude of the weight we carry becomes enormous, the loneliness unbearable. We think momentum keeps us from thinking…from feeling…from knowing sooner or later we have to stop.’

When you need to be spiritually restored, go to the throne, not the phone! No matter how good your friends are, they can’t meet your need like God can. Jesus said, ‘Come to Me…and I will give you rest.’ (Matthew 11:28 NIV) Consider it His personal RSVP to talk to Him and tell Him how you feel, like a child talks to a loving parent who can help them. Designate a special place to be alone with God, and discipline yourself to go there often. And don’t just tell Him what you need; listen for what He’s trying to tell you. Don’t be in a hurry to get back into the rat race; stay in God’s presence until you understand that the burdens you’re carrying were never meant to be shouldered alone.

The most important thing: we find time for what we consider important, so get your priorities straight and ‘seek first His Kingdom.’ (Matthew 6:33 NIV) When you ‘come near to God…He will come near to you.’ (James 4:8 NIV)

When Fatigue Threatens You (1)

Tuesday, 06 January 2015

'God...told His people..."Let the weary rest."' Isaiah 28:12 NLT

Ruth Barton coined the phrase ‘dangerous tiredness’. Its symptoms include:

(1) Irritability/hypersensitivity. Things that wouldn’t normally bother you, like a motorist cutting you off or a friend’s annoying habits, put you on edge.

(2) Restlessness. A vague sense something isn’t right…you feel like running away…you’re exhausted but can’t sleep.

(3) Compulsive overworking. Checking emails late into the night…the inability to unplug completely and go on holiday…struggling to enjoy uninterrupted family time.

(4) Emotional numbness. You don’t ‘feel’ anything, good or bad, and you’re afraid if you did you’d be overwhelmed.

(5) Escapist Behaviour. Compulsive eating, drinking, overspending, watching TV, pornography, surfing the internet. You lack the will to exercise, connect with friends, pursue a hobby, or read a good book. Feeling disconnected from your calling. You go through the motions, missing a sense of who you are and what God called you to do. You’re at the mercy of people’s expectations and your own inner compulsions. You’ve no internal plumbline against which to measure these demands. Neglecting yourself physically. You’ve no time to eat right, take a walk, get enough sleep and do everyday things like washing the car or picking up the laundry.

(6) Hoarding your energy. You fear people will drain the last of your resources, so you withdraw to conserve what you have left. Letting your spiritual habits slip. Things that normally energise you and are good for you, like praying, reading, keeping a diary and self–examination, feel like burdens. If any of this sounds familiar, chances are you’ve hit a wall. It’s time to pay attention, pray, and reorder your priorities.

ALWAYSTRUE's NEW YEAR MESSAGE grin

Happy New Year Mama and Papa children.

Our Faithful Father kept us throughout last year and before and brought us healthily into 2015. What a mighty God we serve.

I wish to congratulate all of us for the pregnancy God has blessed us with. Many people may think that pregnancy is for nine months....uhm, my people pregnancy starts from the heart.
Bible says keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life and as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Because e never big no mean say you nefa get belle. Whatever you ask in prayer, believe you have received it and it is yours.
Many things start from the spiritual and atimes may just need a physical catalyst to bring it to pass and sometimes it's just a word of prayer, confession, action or change to behaviour, environment, state of mind or food.

Before the earth was formed, God's Spirit moved upon the face of the deep before He declared "Let there be light!".

Have you been downcast, sad and despondent? What do you do when you are like that? Does that destroy your faith or draw you closer to God?
Is life becoming unbearable for you? Take it to God to help and strengthen you and help your unbelief. You do not look to the Master and still shake.
I once saw a quote somehwere ' What you are going through is as a result of what you asked for?'.

Do not let any rantings of Peninah (male or female in thsi case) shake you. It is your year of breaking forth. Just imagine your smile when you get confirmation of the pregnancy, your smile when you hold your baby or babies and hold it right there! You will smile.

Congrats to all those who have received their testimonies. It is a new journey, prayer has changed now. Happy 9 months and very safe and happy delivery. The Lord if Faithful and has rewarded you.

For all our mama's keeping this place bubbling...una welldone. God bless you with triplets and more.

Sorry for not posting in a while, laziness things nothing more but been focused on some things.

@Ebony, @Venus, @Safe, @Mamatriplets, @Omonikiba, @wonyi, @ayaakanoh, @Santagelo and @all long-time and new time mamas and papas, it is manifestation year in Jesus name. Amen.

Remember...what did Abraham do that God declared Him righteous?
That was all required. Believe God and what He has promised you regarding your baby (ies) and let God add your answer unto you.

Topic: Be not afraid, only believe.

Mark 5:36
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Which word did Jesus hear? He simply heard them say to the ruler of the synagogue that his daughter was dead. He simply heard them say to him the case is beyond remedy and his response was short and precise- be not afraid, only believe.

What was Jesus trying to say here? He was simply saying; Man I am not afraid of this situation even if it were worse. I believe this situation can also be handled. Will you go with me?

Is there a situation, crisis or challenge facing you that seems to overwhelm you? Are you already getting afraid of what 2015 holds? Are you anxious of what these last 3 days in 2014 hold? Beloved the message to you today is Be not afraid, only believe. Jesus is saying to you- I fear no situation. I believe all situations are 'SOLVABLE'.

I pray for a reader right now that you will not be afraid and that you will only believe. God is working out that matter in your favour. That discouraging news will not discourage Jesus. He is still up to the task. He will surprise you this season, Amen.

Prayer Points:
1. Father thank you for today and for your word to me today, Amen.
2. Father I worship you because no situation or challenge can overwhelm you, Amen.
3. Father I will not be afraid and I believe you can do all things for me, Amen.

Declaration
I believe and I am not afraid.

Do have a prosperous week. Shalom.

Devotional for December 28th, 2014.

Topic: Don’t go back. Your miracle is at hand.

Good Morning Beloved and I trust God your night was good. His name alone be praised, Hallelujah.

Mark 5:35
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?

Jairus had met Jesus and told him of the challenge with his daughter. In the course of going to attend to Jairus, the woman with the issue of blood got her miracle. I could imagine the excitement on Jairus face only to be faced with our text above. These were people who felt all was over and that he should let the master be.

They felt he was disturbing Jesus. They assumed his situation was beyond reach. They concluded there was nothing to be done again. How many times have people encouraged you to stop praying about that thing or pressing forward in that pursuit? How many times have you been told that you are disturbing the master?

Beloved no matter what men are saying now, refuse to go back for your miracle is at hand. Refuse to give up thinking it is too late. Refuse to give up thinking all is over. Refuse to say no because God hasn’t said No.

I pray for a reader today that you will not give up at the verge of your breakthrough. The strength to press on will rest on you mightily. You will lay hold on your miracle this season in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer Points

1. Father thank you for today and for your word to me today, Amen.
2. Father help me never to give up in Jesus name, Amen.
3. Father help me to look beyond the discouragement on my way and keep looking at the miracle ahead, Amen.

Declaration:
I see miracles everywhere.

Do have a fruitful and favoured day.

Seeking God (2)

Thursday, 25 December 2014

'They saw the young Child...and worshipped Him.' Matthew 2:11 NKJV

Notice two more things about the wise men:

(1) How God guided them. ‘The star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was…And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him.’ (Matthew 2:9–11 NKJV) Never limit God. And don’t lock Him into a personal experience you had in the past where He guided you in a certain way. If God can move a star, He can rearrange any circumstance in your favour. How did the wise men know about the birth of Christ? Maybe because of an alignment of the planets, or because they were students of Old Testament prophecy. We don’t know. But one thing is certain: they were seeking God—and that’s the point at which we must all begin.

(2) How God protected them. Herod wasn’t happy about the news these men brought. Indeed, he was downright enraged. Think: if he was willing to kill every Jewish baby boy under the age of two in order to get at Jesus, what were the chances that these men would get out of town alive? Not great—until God stepped in! ‘Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.’ (Matthew 2:12 NKJV) The devil is real, but you don’t have to be afraid, because Jesus has already defeated him. The main thing is: when your heart is set on seeking God, He will guide you, protect you and reward you.

Hello everyone @Candour, @Goshen, @Bidam, @Frosbel @ Shidemidemi and others. Wishing you all a closer walk with God in tune with His Spirit this season.

@Gombs,
How now? I just saw this mention. Na @Goshen you dey follow argue? Lol. We have had this discuss already long ago and the word of God clearly negates all his philosophies on pre-marital sex so I do not know what you are getting worked up over. grin grin. God ordained sex is for marriage, as long as the man/woman has not be given to you to marry, it is robbery as in prostitution or rape. That is even the physical aspect of the flesh. We have not even considered the higher plane Jesus spoke about which involves sin from the heart by thoughts. Let us use the grace Christ gave us to receive help to abstain.

You even see married couples justifying abortion because they are not ready or they feel it is their decision to make, people looking down on virgins and so on. At the end of the day, everyone will give account.

May we all receive the help of the Lord to give account with gladness and joy.

@Melsmum, @BlessedDiva, @glo2glory, thanks alot. I wish you same too.

Good morning, great parents. How was your weekend. I want you to realise that since dry wood is meant to catch fire when it is ignited but wet wood surrounded with a pool of water could catch fire during the time of Elijah and the prophets of Baal, irrespective of any medical situation or report you have been given, you will conceive with a great explosion.

Anything that is mocking you like the fig tree that Jesus cursed for it had all the paraphernalia of fruitfulness, clouds without rain, meant to yield but yield but withholding against your glory, is cursed and you shall receive your tree of life which is your desire in Jesus name.

You are not delayed, just being prepared.

Stop Trying to Second-Guess God

Monday, 08 December 2014

'Nor are your ways My ways.' Isaiah 55:8 NKJV

Are you doing what you believe to be God’s will, yet things aren’t working out like you expected? God has a different perspective—a better one. It’s ok to question Him, but not to doubt and second–guess Him. In His Word He says, ‘My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.’

When God told Moses he was going to deliver the Israelites from Egypt, Moses was all for it. But things didn’t go the way he anticipated because Pharaoh made their lives harder for a while. So instead of becoming a hero, Moses lived through a season of being criticised and misunderstood. Later, when some other things didn’t turn out as Moses expected, he got discouraged and complained along these lines: ‘Lord, I did what You told me to do. How come I’m not getting the results I prayed for?’ (Exodus 5:22) Moses didn’t understand the results of his obedience, because God didn’t tell him exactly how things would turn out.

Usually our frustrations have little to do with what God does or doesn’t do, and everything to do with our mistaken ideas about what we think He should do. When you assume, or try to analyse God, you always end up frustrated. Jesus told His disciples, ‘You don’t really know what I am doing, but later you will understand.’

(John 13:7 CEV) It’s only in looking back that you see how the Lord has led you. He is the best at what He does and His track record proves it. So trust God and stop trying to second–guess Him.

@Preggie mas and pas, here is a word for you:

Devotional for December 5th, 2014.

Topic: At that season....

Good Morning Beloved and I trust God your night was good. Glory to the King of glory.

Bible Reading:
2 Kings 4:17
And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

Yesterday we started looking at the response of the Shunnamite woman when her son died. Her statement made it look like her miracle was forced on her.

Today we will be going back to when that miracle happened. According to the word of Elisha concerning her she conceived and also bare. I want to quickly pray for someone who is trusting God to conceive. You will conceive, Amen. She didn't only conceive, she bare. Your seed will be born, Amen.

Two things readily strike my mind again as I consider the text above. It happened at the exact SEASON and according to the time of life. Meaning the timing was exact and the baby wasn't premature. God gave her a miracle that was verifiable and that could stand the test of time.

Today for someone reading this, Your season and time of life are set to coincide. Your miracle is about to be born. I declare over you that whatever you have been waiting for will enter your hands this season, Amen. According to the time of life, you will celebrate your own too, Amen.

Prayer points-
1. Father thank you for a new day and for your word to me today, Amen.

2. Father I thank you because you honour the words of your servant, Amen.

3. Father every good prophecy over my life let them answer to the season and timing of life today, Amen.

Declaration: This is that season I have been waiting for, Amen.

Have a victorious day, Shalom.

davidylan:

According to Acts 4, the offerings were used to benefit EVERYONE in the church according to his need. Today our offerings go to one man and one man only... the pastor... according to his greed.

Acts 4:34-35
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Is that the offering you are referring to? The 100% offering laid at the apostles feet? Is that the offering you talking about?

So have you sold your house and lands now and taken it to your church while supervising the distribution to other people who have need or will you call this another brainwashing scam? Or call those who come to benefit from it lazy people who dont want to work. Lol...and the cycle continues.

Religion / Re: Man Asks Church To Return His Tithes Or Face Court Action by Alwaystrue(f): 7:12am On Nov 30, 2014
PastorKun:

“I want them to pay me all the money I have given to them since I started churching [fellowshipping] with them.
His demands are not restricted to donations and collection however. The frustrated man insists that even the tithes he paid over the fifteen (15) year period should be returned to him.
Everything. Donations, everything they should refund my money to me. The tithes I am paying is not going to God, it’s going to one particular person and that is the pastor. It is not going to God, it is going to the pastor.”
The peeved man insists that the money he paid should still be in the church coffers and that the money “can never fly”.

I want them to give me my money, he reiterated. “If they do not give me back my money, I will take them to court!”.
Listen to the man below:

As usual, we see the hypocritical topic relating just to tithes, meanwhile the man said he wanted ALL his donations and contributions returned back to him.
This just shows the heart of the man and all his givings were unto man and not unto God. No wonder he wants his offerings, tithes and other contributions even for other welfare projects returned to him.

This also shows how the happy OP is shooting himself in the foot as well. He has just confirmed that people should not give to God through the church. One day you will look back at how you ridiculed yourself by your subjective pick and chose way of looking at issues.

The man can as well sue all those he has helped (if he ever did) because he should not be having it this bad if his 'giving was coming back to him' as Jesus said. As i often say it is a thing of the heart....out of the abundance of the heart....

Deuteronomy 1:6-8
6-8 Back at Horeb, God, our God, spoke to us: “You’ve stayed long enough at this mountain. On your way now. Get moving. Head for the Amorite hills, wherever people are living in the Arabah, the mountains, the foothills, the Negev, the seashore—the Canaanite country and the Lebanon all the way to the big river, the Euphrates. Look, I’ve given you this land. Now go in and take it. It’s the land God promised to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their children after them.”

That He had given the land of Canaan to the Israelites and he said this long before they even got it. So what does this mean and how does it apply to you today. I will help those who do not understand...oya see what it means:

Deuteronomy 1:6-8
6-8 Back when you heard my words to you on this matter, God, our God, spoke to us: “You’ve stayed long enough at this mountain of ttc. On your way now. Get moving. Head for the baby things markets, wherever people are talking about babies, the eating right for two/more, the taking rest from too much working, the rejoicing with other expectant mums, the not lifting heavy things, the preparation for your big day. Look, I’ve given you these babies. Now go in and enjoy your pregnancy. It’s the baby (babies) God promised to give your ancestors Abraham (Sarah), Isaac (Rebekah), and Jacob (Rachel) and their children after them.”

Let God Illuminate Your Mind

Monday, 17 November 2014

'The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.' Psalm 19:8 NIV

The Psalmist writes, ‘The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.’ God can put an idea in your mind that changes the direction of your life. Marconi had an idea and the result was the radio. Bell had an idea and the result was the telephone.

God, the Creator, gives creative ideas to people all the time. But you must act on them; otherwise He will give them to somebody else. Isn’t it time you asked Him for one of His ideas for your life? The fact that you believe in God is wonderful. But here’s something equally wonderful—God is committed to His purposes in you! Instead of looking at your present situation and thinking, ‘I guess my life’s as good as it’s ever going to get,’ start asking, ‘Lord, what do You have in mind for me?’

If you let it, life can beat you down and make you feel low, lost, lacking, and limited in ability and potential. And if you act on these feelings and thoughts instead of what God says about you in His Word, you’ll never move forward and fulfil what He put you on this earth to do. You say, ‘God has never given me one of His great ideas.’ Maybe that’s because you have never asked Him for one! He gives them to seeking hearts, prepared hearts, faith–filled hearts, obedient hearts and those who seek and trust in His Word.. Here’s a profile of the kind of person God gives great ideas to: ‘His delight is in the Law of the Lord, and on His Law he meditates day and night…Whatever he does shall prosper.’ (Psalm 1:2–3 NKJV)

Thoughts about Jacob

Sunday, 16 November 2014

'I will not let you go unless you bless me.' Genesis 32:26 NIV

Jacob got off to a bad start in life. When it came to business practices, he had more angles than a pyramid! First he cheated his older brother, Esau, then his father–in–law, Laban. Then, one night, the Angel of the Lord showed up in his tent and Jacob wrestled with Him until daybreak. As the sun rose, the Angel said to him, ‘Let me go, for it is daybreak.’ But Jacob said, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’ At that point the Angel told him he would no longer be called by his old name, Jacob, which means ‘deceiver’, but by his new name, Israel, which means ‘a prince with God’.

Up until this time Jacob thought making money would make him happy, but it didn’t; it almost cost him his family. Sound familiar? But after wrestling with God he received a new name, a new nature, a new walk and a new future. Isn’t that what you want too? Well, the good news is—you can have it! The Bible says, ‘If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.’ (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV).

Jacob was a self–made man. The problem was he wasn’t enjoying the life he’d made for himself. He didn’t know he’d been born for a purpose greater than merely acquiring ‘stuff’, and it was only in God’s presence that he discovered this. His story in a nutshell is this: Jacob was who he was. He wanted to be like Esau. But, Israel, a prince with God, was who God made him. And God can do the same for you if you will follow Him.

Release Yourself from Bitterness (2)

Saturday, 15 November 2014

'See to it that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble.' Hebrews 12:15 NIV

Releasing yourself from bitterness calls for:

(1) Choosing to forgive.‘Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.’ (Ephesians 4:32 NCV) Whether or not the person who hurt you apologises, is dead or alive, or is still hurting you, your only option is forgiveness. By forgiving, you set yourself free to enjoy life.

(2) Releasing the wrongdoer from all expectations.By changing your expectations, you reclaim your peace of mind. Whether or not the other person changes is his or her business—move on! Requiring a certain response keeps you bound to them. Paul says, ‘We have freedom now, because Christ made us free. So stand strong. Do not change and go back into the slavery of the law.’ (Galatians 5:1 NCV)

(3) Transferring to God all expectations for your needs. His Word says, ‘God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.’ (Philippians 4:19 NAS) Note the word ‘all’. God can supply the people, resources and opportunities you need to live a joyful life.

(4) Asking God to bless your offender.Yes, it’s difficult, but Jesus said, ‘Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!’ (Matthew 5:44 NLT) That kind of prayer puts you in the driver’s seat of your life.

(5) Doing something nice for your offender.Ask God how you can bless them. ‘If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will…conquer evil by doing good.’ (Romans 12:20–21 NLT) You defeat anger and bitterness by believing and acting on God’s Word.
