PoliticsLIVE! Pandemonium as Fresh Fight Breaks Out In The House of Reps (Pics) by AmadiAba(op): 12:24pm On Jun 25, 2015
Hehe what power will cause eh. A fight has currently ensued at the National Assembly, where reps members are currently fighting each other as NTA airs it live. From the look of things it seems it’s between APC members and PDP/Dogara group. The most painful of it all is that some secondary school students who are currently on excursion to the National Assembly are presently seated watching the reps members exchange blow.

Already, Nigerians have started reacting on twitter, I told you it's live. See tweets below

PoliticsWhat Happened In 1979-83 Has Happened Again – Buhari by AmadiAba(op): 5:39am On Jun 24, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari, has assured of his administration’s resolve to build a robust economy that Nigerians will be proud of within the shortest possible time.

He made this assurance in Abuja, Tuesday, during a meeting with the 36 states governors including the Federal Capital Territory.

Apparently trying to justify his statement on Monday, that he met empty treasury, Buhari said his administration will try and put the system back into the right position.

“The next three months may be hard but billions of dollars can be recovered, and we will do our best,” he said.

Buhari also claimed that former president Goodluck Jonathan had left the country deep in debt corroborating with the earlier assertion by his vice, Yemi Osinbajo that the Nigeria’s debt under Jonathan stands at about $60 billion

He further said a full statement on the nation’s finances inherited by his government will be made within the next month

“What happened in the Second Republic (1979-1983) has apparently happened again, and even worse...

PoliticsWhy I Choose Adesina As Spokesman – Buhari by AmadiAba(op): 6:15am On Jun 23, 2015
President Buhari Monday explained why he picked former Sun MD, Femi Adesina to be his spokesperson.

The President who spoke while meeting with members of the State House Press Corps said it was a disgrace that Nigeria is not able to pay workers salaries adding that this was as a result of bad management.

While calling on the media to cooperate with his administration‎, President Buhari said he choose Femi Adesina to be his Adviser because he is ‘one of the best’.

“It is not by accident that I got the best of you to be the special adviser, one of the 15 aides I had to get clearance from the Senate‎. He is one of the best President of the guild that I can have as special advisers. I brought one of the best of you so that he can consistently defend me against you.

“Whether my job is a difficult one or easy it is up to him, but I’m here to thank you in advance for ‎what good and ill you are going to do to me.

“I have to quickly come and see you and welcome you to this place. I hope ‎what happened of recent between the former president and one of you (the seizure of the accreditation of the Radio Germany reporter) will not happen between me and you.

“I hope we are starting and this culture developed, of 100 days is bringing so much pressure with treasury virtually empty, with debts in millions of dollars, with state workers and even federal workers not paid their salaries. It is such a disgrace for Nigeria. I think Nigeria should be in a position to even pay it’s workers. This bad management that we find ourselves in, we really need your help to protect us from people before they match on us” he said.

For members of the State House Press Corps, it is a first time that they would be...

PoliticsLabour : FG Gets Nod To Remove Subsidy; Proceeds To Be Invested On Welfare, Educ by AmadiAba(op): 8:04pm On Jun 22, 2015
The same Labour that frustrated GEJ when he wanted to remove subsidy have now accepted the same policy under Buhari. What has changed between 2012 and 2015? The truth is that Nigerians were used by the Cabal to frustrate GEJ and grab power at all cost. Everybody that participated in that protest should blame himself for the woes of this country as regards fuel scarcity.

Deadly_Plot : HOW PLOT TO KIDNAP NASS CLERK, ABORT TUESDAY INAUGURATION BACKFIRED

Saturday Sun reveals how plot to kidnapped National Assembly Clerk Backfired.

Three different plots but with similar goal: to abort the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly on Tuesday, June 9 failed only when the first leg, and the most crucial one, could not fly.

The first plot was to kidnap the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa (OFR), from his residence in a highbrow district of Abuja in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

If that plot had succeeded, the next stage was a carefully composed text message that would be sent out to National Assembly members-elect of a purported meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Centre (ICC).

The text message was expected to draw out certain members-elect with a view to keeping them stranded at the ICC while some members would access the two chambers of the National Assembly, get the required numbers and then, conduct elections.

The timing of the meeting was keenly debated but it was gathered that 9:00am was eventually agreed upon.

The third leg of the plan was to ensure that...

PoliticsAbians Dump Otti, Calls Him A Stranger by AmadiAba(op): 3:47pm On Apr 16, 2015
As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to hold the April 25 Abia State governorship election run off, a concerned group under the auspices of Abia Rebirth has called on the electorate not to vote for All Progressive Grand Alliance candidate, Chief Alex Otti for denying and abandoning his birth place, Arochukwu in the name of politics.

It will be recalled that elders and youths in the state had under the Abia Charter, directed that the next governor of the state should be an indigene of Abia South as Abia North and Abia central had ruled the state for the past 16 years. Based on the joint decision, Otti had denounced his Arochukwu origin to claim Ngwa, a part of Abia central so as to qualify for the governorship under the charter.

Our source gathered Otti has promised his supporters and financiers who are mainly non Abians based in Lagos and Nnewi massive government patronage if elected .

Speaking under condition of anonymity, a leader in Arochukwu said, " how do you expect us to entrust the state resources in the hands of an inconsistent personality. Alex Otti denied his birth place and origin because of politics. He has not done anything tangible for Abians and now he is busy buying people with money. We believe in people who had been contributing to the community all along without bias. My advice to Abians is that they should not vote Otti as he is going to bring all his political appointees and contractors from Lagos and Anambra thereby, abandoning our local economy".

Efforts to reach the Campaign Director General for Alex Otti proved abortive as his phones were switched off.

PoliticsPPA‬ Guber Candidate ‪Chikwe Udensi‬ Declares Free Education In Abia by AmadiAba(op): 7:30am On Mar 06, 2015
Breaking News!

‪PPA‬ GUBER CANDIDATE ‪‎CHIKWE UDENSI‬ DECLARES FREE EDUCATION IN ABIA

***to pay over N300 million school fees for all primary and secondary school students before the election

Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) gubernatorial candidate in Abia State, Sir Chikwe Udensi, has declared free education at the primary and secondary levels in the state even before he is elected. Udensi announced this yesterday at New Market (Ahia Ohu) Ngwa road Aba. Speaking to the traders Udensi said he believes election campaign has gone beyond promises; the people should assess all the candidates by what each of them had done in the past and what they are doing now. “If you say you will build roads if elected, how many roads have you constructed in the past and how many are you constructing now. If you say you will give free education, how many people have you awarded scholarship to in the past and how many are you training now. Go to Urratta, go to Omuma, go to Powerline, go to Hospital road, go to Obioha, go to Ohanku, go to Ukwu Mango, am rehabilitating these roads and many others with my personal money. Go to Arochukwu, I had constructed over 14 km of roads in the past even before I decided to run for the governorship of the state.”

“I have written to Abia state government to forward to my office, the tuitions fees for all primary and secondary students in the state for this term, I was told it’s about 300million, I will pay. I don’t just want to promise you free education, I want Abians to start enjoying it even before am elected. After the election, I will extend it to the tertiary level and also introduce bursary for all Abia students all over Nigeria.

Udensi also pledged to rebuild dilapidated school buildings in the state as well as equip schools with computers to ensure that pupils and students were exposed early to modern information technology.

He also promised teachers a better welfare package and prompt payment of salaries, adding that his administration would ensure the restoration of the dignity and pride associated with the teaching profession.

He said: “Education bridges the gap between the so-called rich and the poor. It is the best legacy any proactive government can give to its people. My administration will not only ensure free education at all levels, but also ensure that books and educational materials are subsidised so that every Abia child will have access to qualitative education.”

The governorship candidate explained that the bursary scheme would also include students doing post-graduate studies, adding that his government would work out modalities to assist Abia First Class graduates further their education abroad to enable them compete effectively with their contemporaries from other countries of the world.

Udensi, however, decried the level of illiteracy, especially in the rural communities, saying over 75 per cent of students in Abia State either lacked computer illiteracy or did not have access to the Internet in a globalised world.

“My government will arouse the conscious of Abia students to ensure that they learn through reading in a globalised world, where information disseminates faster through integrated computer networks.

“We shall equip schools with computers as well as introduce the use of it in our schools to ensure that an average Abia student becomes employable and indispensable, if possible, in his or her chosen profession/career.

“My plan is to place Abia above other states of the federation academically and make her youths the bedrock of research and innovation in Africa generally,” he said.

Udensi also said it was also going to harmonise taxes in the state in such a way that the poor and women would be exempted from all manner of tax payments while daily tickets levy by try¬cles operators popularly called keke and wheelbarrow pushers would be abolished.

“Our people have suffered over the years because the pres¬ent government is not people ori¬ented and the little they claimed to have achieved does not in any way benefit the masses.
“That is why we have careful¬ly drawn up programmes such as free education, free medical services for the aged, abolition of tax payment by the very poor among others to alleviate the sufferings of the poor masses and all these things we are go¬ing to implement if we win the election”.

The PPA governorship candidate said his first assignment if he becomes the governor of the state would be to declare Aba a disaster area, stressing that he would relocate and live in Aba for two years to be able to super¬vise the reconstruction of roads in the city which contract he said would be given to reputable firms.
Reminding the crowd that Igbo is one, Udensi said his admin¬istration was going to do those things that would unite Ndigbo rather than disunite them.
In this wise, he said that all workers in the state whose ap¬pointments were terminated for being non Abians would be re¬called and their arrears of salary paid because according to him, they were wrongly sacked.

He promised to provide meaningful jobs for the youths and take care of the welfare of the disabled in the state.
Reacting to Udensi’s education transformation agenda, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Abia State chapter, Kalu Okechukwu, described it as an unprecedented plan that would remain indelible in the hearts of Abia students.

He regretted that students of the state origin were currently not given any bursary by the state government
He hailed the proposed bursary scheme as a welcome development, saying it would endear Udensi to the electorates to him as well as elicit votes from the students who had been craving for such motivation from their leaders.

“He will surely have the votes of the students and more especially their support during and after the election,” Kalu assured.

PoliticsBreaking News! Abia2015: Apga Merges With Ppa As Otti Steps Down For Udensi by AmadiAba(op): 9:56pm On Feb 16, 2015
Information just reaching our news room from a very reliable source indicates that the Abia state chapter of APGA has reached to a consensus agreement with PPA for the guber election coming up on 11th April. The APGA candidate Otti who has been having a running battle with Diamond bank lately agreed in principle to step down and support udensi while Udensi will provide funds to assist him offset his debt with Diamond Bank . Otti had approached Udensi for assistance following repeated threats by Diamond bank to drag him to EFCC if he fails to recover the Bank’s funds borrowed to Abia state government under Otti, before the end of this February. The Bank is afraid that the next government may refuse to redeem the debts if Otti fails to win the gubernatorial election as the deals were executed under questionable circumstances and without following due process.

Abia state government had on 6th February denied owing any bank but insisted that Alex Otti was heavily indebted to many banks including Diamond bank. In a swift reaction on the number of claims raised by the state APGA governorship candidate including the challenge thrown by Dr. Alex Otti on the state government to make public the debt profile of the state under the administration of Governor Orj, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. ACB Agbazuere, debunked the claim saying that the state was not indebted to any bank.

"Alex Otti is talking like a politician not as a banker, who is just coming up in the game of politics. He thinks that politics means lying and fabrication of stories. Abia State has no debt profile; we do not owe. If we are owing, let him tell us, Alex Otti is owing, he is owing most of the banks; Abia State is not owing,' the commissioner stated.

Abia State government is alleged to be indebted to Diamond Bank PLC to the sum of N8.5bn accruing from N500m loan granted to each of the 17 local Governments of the State. This amount is alleged to be exclusive of $250m bond given to Abia State government in 2010 by Diamond bank PLC under Otti’s watch as the managing director.

PoliticsGovernor T.a Orji Vows To Frustrate Pdp Special Waiver To Orji Uzor Kalu by AmadiAba(op): 12:03am On Nov 20, 2014
Just in***

The crisis rocking Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to take a new dimension as Governor T. A Orji of Abia State is making desperate moves to frustrate the special waiver granted to his erstwhile boss and former Governor of the State, Dr. Orji Kalu by leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Orji has vowed that he will ensure the decision of the National Working Committee of the party doesn't see the light of the day and resist all attempts by Kalu to win the National Assembly election.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had on Tuesday at its meeting announced the granting of a special waiver to Kalu to enable him contest as Senator representing Abia North in the forthcoming general elections.

According to a reliable source, since the news filtered into the air, Governor Orji with the support of an undisclosed official in the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the party has been moving from pillar to post to frustrate the decision of the party. The governor has doled out millions of naira to journalists especially in the print media in order to make contrary reports as against the earlier statement that Kalu has been granted special waiver.
The governor has also successfully secured the support of relatively few members of the PDP NWC, who are currently on his monthly payroll, though most of the top hierarchy of the party are of the opinion that the waiver remains valid.

Speaking under condition of anonymity, a national officer of the party said: "since people like former Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Modu Sherrif had been granted waiver, why shouldn't Orji Kalu benefit the same gesture having rejoined the party since January 2011.

All efforts to reach Chief Olisah Metuh, PDP National Publicity Secretary proved abortive.

PoliticsRe: Orji Uzor Kalu Finally Arrested In Abuja by AmadiAba(op): 5:05pm On Nov 12, 2014
Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report in some quarters (especially Nairaland) that H.E Dr. Orji Kalu was yesterday arrested at the gate of Eagle square, venue of President Jonathan's presidential declaration.

We wish to state categorically that the purported report is the handwork of a failed governor and his cohorts who are envious of the political and business achievements of Dr. Orji Kalu.

We hereby call on the public to disregard the misleading information as Dr. Kalu only arrived Nigeria yesterday evening after a week business visit to Europe and couldn't have attended the declaration ceremony.
