DIRECTOR General, Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council in Ekiti State in the last presidential poll, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to take the opposition for granted in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Osinkolu urged the APC leadership to embrace internal democracy and shun imposition of candidates to brighten the electoral chances of the party.

The party chieftain, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, said the APC must allow its candidates to be elected through credible and transparent means.
He warned that imposing candidates on the party might cause disaffection that could give the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) an edge in the December 7 council elections.

The APC will, on September 28, conduct its primaries to elect the 16 chairmanship and 177 councillorship candidates that will fly the party’s flag in the council elections.

Osinkolu hailed Governor Kayode Fayemi for stating clearly that he had no preferred candidates for the polls.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has been slammed on twitter following his opinion on the UK Supreme court ruling against its government.

The UK apex court on Tuesday ruled that the government shut of the parliament was illegal – a moved Fayose hailed as “respect for rule of law.”

The PDP chieftain then urged the Nigerians government to emulate their UK counterpart in granting independence to the Judiciary and respect for the rule of law.

“BREXIT experience vis British democracy in which there is respect for rule of law, independence of the Judiciary and freedom of speech should be a lesson for our govt, people and political actors. Our institutions should be stronger than individuals in leadership.” He tweeted.
But that backfired almost immediately as many online users thought it was rich coming from an ex-leader who has had an infamous encounter with the Judiciary.

He was quick to be reminded how “he slapped” a sitting judge in Ekiti state, during his time as Governor.

The National Youth Service Corps has said that it arrested a total of 65 intending corps members during its just-concluded Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course, for allegedly tendering fake certificates.

The NYSC authorities, in a statement made available to our correspondent, said on Monday that the defaulting corps members, who were caught in orientation camps across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had been handed over to the police for “further investigation and possible prosecution.”

Recall that in the last week of August 2019 when the orientation was in its second week the corps noted that it apprehended over “50 unqualified graduates who came with fake certificates to the orientation camps” and attempted to get registered. The fake graduates were consequently decamped.

Our correspondent had also reported earlier that 25 persons were arrested during the first week of the orientation nationwide for allegedly submitting fake certificates.

It was reported that in Katsina about six people were caught and the NYSC identified two of them as Blessing Offor, who paraded a Bachelor of Science certificate in Insurance and Actuarial Science, and Chidinma Ngozi, who submitted a certificate in Bachelor of Arts in English Education .

Also in Taraba State, the NYSC caught six persons with three of the suspects identified as; Nasiru Yau, Shehu Mukhtar and Illiyasu Usman.

The three persons all claimed to have finished from the Isfop University of Cotonou in the Republic of Benin.

In Kano State, the NYSC had said it could not register 108 prospective corps members posted to the state for presenting questionable certificates and other infractions.

The Kano State Coordinator of the scheme, Mr Ladan Baba, also said that 1,700 prospective corps members were deployed to the state, but 1,592 were registered.

In the statement, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, noted that the NYSC Director-General, Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, warned that unqualified home-based and foreign-trained Nigerians would no longer pass through the scheme.

Four years ahead of the 2023 Presidential election, politics of who emerges the next President of Nigeria seems to be dominating the social media space, no thanks to political posters posted in some strategic parts of the country.

Those whose posters can be seen in parts of Nigeria include the All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

In Kaduna city, posters which read, ‘El- Rufai 2023 (Mai Aiki) for President, Federal Republic of Nigeria’, sponsored by the Northern Youth Forum were seen in various parts of the state on Sunday.

In Ikeja, a large billboard of Tinubu could be seen around the ‘Ikeja Along’ bus-stop, with the words, ‘BAT 2023’, although it has since been taken down.

In some parts of Abuja as well, posters of Oshiomhole, and el-Rufai as his running mate can be seen pasted on public infrastructure like traffic kiosks.

On the poster with the heading, ‘Mandate 2023’, it is stated that the advertisement was sponsored by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

Although none of the three politicians has openly declared their intention to run, there are rumours that they are planning to contest but only using their proxies to push their agenda.

The National Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, Anthony Sani, described the posters as harmful to Nigeria’s democracy, saying the current administration was too young for politicking to begin towards the next one.

Sani said, “(It is) too early because the performance of the current regime must count for the politics of 2023.

“What is more, politics of 2023 at this point in time is capable of distracting the present government away from being focused on the task of delivering on the promise of its mandate.”

The National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, also decried the emergence of the campaign materials towards the 2023 presidential elections.

Odumakin said, though the politicians were entitled to the campaign, they should contribute their efforts towards the “change” they promised Nigerians, which, according to him, Nigerians have yet to see.”

A Texas man wanted out of his marriage and instead of going through divorce proceedings, he faked his wife's signature on paperwork in turn ending their union without her knowledge.

The New York Daily News reports Paul Nixon submitted forged documents and false information to a Houston district court. Nixon also reportedly committed perjury when testifying in court during a divorce hearing. The divorce has been tabled due to the perjury and fraudulent documents.

The constable’s office started the investigation after Mrs. Nixon informed officials of the divorce that occurred without her knowledge.

Harris County Constable Mark Herman spoke with a local news outlet and said that a search for Mr. Nixon is underway as he is now wanted for aggravated perjury.

“We have teams out looking for him right now, I can tell you,” he told the station. “And we have an idea where he’s at. So hopefully, he’ll turn himself in. If not, we’ll catch him. Just a matter of time.”

PORTLAND – Teenager allegedly masturbated a jaw-dropping 56 times non-stop before dying of a heart attack, in the process even breaking the world record and was awarded a world record certificate by a Guinness representative who later arrived at the home.

Jerome Carpenter was found dead in his bedroom after apparently masturbating too much. It is speculated that Jerome was suffering from depression due to being “extremely lonely”. Jerome’s Mother called Portland police after discovering his corpse in his room. Jerome’s mother told Huzlers reporters “1 hour passed since I had called him down for lunch, Jerome was the kind of boy to steal food off your plate when you were not looking, I knew something was wrong when he didn’t come down to eat, he was a great kid” she finished as she began to cry.

Police arrived at the home about an hour after Ms Carpenter called them. Officer Dean Marrow told Thickmatch.com reporters what they saw when they opened Jerome’s bedroom door. “The young man was on his bed… his pen*s was detached from his body, it must have been so intense it just came off his body, we found his pen*s gripped in his left hand so tightly we couldn’t get it out, it was tragic”.

Investigators are still investigating the case for more information, Jerome’s funeral will take place sometime next week.

This would be the first time there would be any talk of a record label floating on either side of the P-square brothers since they went their separate ways in 2016 after a number of re-occuring.

While Rudeboy was with his twin brother, Mr. P, they used to co-own a record label, Square Records. But since the defunct of P-square, the record label has seized to exist and devoid of operations. Rivers State House of Assembly has set up a three-man ad hoc committee to liaise with other government agencies to tackle the recurring serial killings of young women in hotels in the state.

Members of the committee included Kelechi Nworgu, member representing Omuma constituency (Chairman), Solomon Sokolo, representing Abua/Odua (member) and Michael Chinda, representing Obio/Akpor constituency (member).

At the end of debate, the House resolved to set up an ad hoc committee that would work with other government agencies to eradicate the menace from the state.

Speaker of the House, Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, who announced constitution of the ad hoc committee, after going through the three prayers as contained in the motion, said: “We have heard that the police have arrested two suspects in this regard, meaning they are closing in on the criminals. The issue of security is so versed that the mere fact that we are debating this issue does not mean even as lawmakers, we have absolute knowledge.

“Knowledge is contributory, contribution from other agencies will also aid what we are doing here. It will give us further and better particulars for us to reach and form decision by way of resolution of the House.

“I think the resolution we are going to have now will be an interim resolution, so that we will take prayer one which is “condemning such act in strong terms,” which all members who spoke agreed on.

“The House has resolved that it is condemnable the act of serial killing, as recorded in the state and that an ad hoc committee be set up by the House.

“The committee should report back to the House on the next adjourned date because it is an issue we are not going to leave long. We have to follow it bumper to bumper, so that we will be able to keep the world or the public abreast with what is happening and make our position as an Assembly very clear because we represent the interest of all,” Ibani stated.

However, the incessant female killings led to the recent protest by hundreds of concerned women to the Rivers State House of Assembly, State Government House, Police Headquarters and office of the Department of State Security, in Port Harcourt.

During their protest, the women demanded a stop to the menace, seeking the agencies to step up action to the arrest of the serial killers.

The Bayelsa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the former Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, in the National Assembly, Sen. Nimi Barigha Amange, did not defect from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, insisting that the claim was false.

The state chairman of PDP, Chief Moses Cleopas, said in a statement on Thursday that Amange ceased to be a member of the PDP shortly before the February 23, 2019 National Assembly elections when he defected from the PDP to join the African Democratic Congress.

Cleopas explained that Amange defected from the PDP to the ADC to contest against the PDP when he failed to secure the senatorial ticket of the party for Bayelsa East senatorial district.

Cleopas said that Amange’s claim that he defected from the PDP to the APC because of Governor Dickson’s style of leadership was an unfortunate, mischievous attempt to create the false impression of an implosion within a party that is stable.



He said: “There is a misleading report that Amange has defected from the PDP to the APC. The fact is that Amange is not a member of our party. He defected from the PDP to the ADC, to contest against us in the February 16, 2019 National Assembly election and lost.

“The PDP in the state knows those who are genuine members. Amange is not one of us and he should desist from misinforming the public with the intent to cause mischief.”

Cleopas said that the Bayelsa State chapter of the PDP was too strong to be bothered by a false defection masterminded by people who are troubled by the strong internal cohesion within the party.

Cleopas who debunked Amange’s accusation against the governor, stressed that he had never seen a leader who had adopted a more consultative approach to the resolution of issues than Governor Dickson who ensures that stakeholders are consulted in all critical decisions of the party.

He said that before his defection in January, Amange had been the one producing the councillor from his ward.

He added that the governor whom he wrongfully accused of dictatorial tendencies could not identify the PDP candidate for Nembe Local Government Area in the last local government chairmanship election, Hon West Alalibo, until his victory.

Two representatives of the Process and Industrial Development Ltd on Thursday pleaded guilty before the Federal High Court in Abuja to charges of fraud and tax evasion instituted against them in respect of the contract leading to the recent controversial judgment of a British court empowering the firm to seize about $9.6bn worth of Nigerian assets.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday arraigned P&ID Ltd, Virgin Island, its Nigerian affiliate, P&ID Nigeria Ltd on 11 counts of fraud and tax evasion.

While P&ID Ltd, Virgin Island was represented by its Commercial Director, Mohammad Kuchazi, P&ID Nigeria Limited was represented by Adamu Usman, who is also a lawyer.

Both men pleaded guilty to all the 11 counts read to them before Justice Inyang Ekwo on Thursday.

Kuchazi was represented by his lawyer, Dandison Akurunwua, while Usman represented himself.

They were accused of, among others, fraudulently claiming to have acquired land from the Cross River State Government in 2010 for the gas supply project agreement which led to the $9.6bn judgment.
