Benzene002:It's holding June 17 if Dr Tona's stance remains sacrosanct |
So glad to see this thread progress as it used to be. Greetings to all medics in the house. I must confess that I greatly detest the rush this new curriculum has birthed. I detest cramming for exams but how will I cover up an enormous region with a frame of two weeks and getting tested on it with 2 big regions instantaneously? Gross in grossly time demanding to grasp but my lecturers seem not to grasp. Now it is all abt cramming d seemingly hot spots and discarding most part. I hate this system. Stabbing classes, dissection sections and even practicals have been the order of the day here for the confident guys. What a curriculum! I had prefer learning the stuffs with no pressure bearing it in mind that medical school might go far beyond 6 years to just activating survival mode of reading style. |
Dohwodese:Just want to make some enquiries. Kindly reach me through my digits. Thanks! |

Any unilag medic in the hauz should pls signify. I would love to hook up with u and ask some knockout questions. Thanks and God bless! |
Should u not know that modus operandi of getting medicine and surgery at the premier university... This is for u! UI's putme is a ppt. U will write the same subject combination u did in utme. 100 questions I.e 25 from each subject within 1 hr or 1: 30 hr( not so sure again) Utme cut-off point is 200 jamb. I.e scoring 200 and above in utme gives u a sure fire ticket to write the post utme. This gives the same opp to someone who had 400 in jamb. Ui uses her post utme score alone to decide on the cut- off marks for various depts. So performance orchestrates the cutoff and it is never fixed. A dude with C6s parallel has the same privilege with a bad dude wwit9 A1s Most questions are extracted from jamb series The cutoff increases yearly from my judgement tho due to increasing nos of highbrow students that made UI their choice. E.g MBBS was 64- 2012 70- 2013 80-2014 ** - 2015 I leave u for the prediction. Good luck! The figures here are not skewed, nevertheless , they might not be 100% correct I have a friend with 293 this year opting for UI. I plainly told him he is as privileged as a guy with 200 in utme. Your post utme counts and your utme amounts to nothing. Just prepare very hard, pray and be diligent and MBBS will be yours |
Loyalblak007:I am a whatsapper . yeah! |
To the engineering, pharmacy and MBBS guys in the house. I'd advise u to get your NIN (national identity number) at the NIMC in your state. Scholarships like Agbami and shell will require this from u. Agbami that pays medics 200k and FAC of tech guys 100k annually is knocking ay the door. If u don't have your LGA attestation, certificate of origin, date of birth cert, sort code for the bank u use. This is the best time to gather them b4 d acad load gives u an excuse to jetisson these great offers from nice oil companies. To the science peeps too. If u need all the previous slides and presentations of your courses(Zoo,phy, che, Ges107) and soft copies of the past questions for various courses too, do not hesitate meeting a material freak or reaching me in school through my digit 08136898088. I had oblige without loath. I remain dogged in my humanitarian call! God's love has been my drive all the way Always wishing u the best! |
Allocsoluwatosi:I do not know of any stalite for now. We care starting ours after the freshers. |
Vibra:How much if I may ask? I paid 4500 naira den as a fresh zikite It is a must for every one, even the stale students |

To the green peeps in the hauz. I will exhort u all to mingle with your senior ones in your dept. It is time u stopped " I did all in high school successfully alone". The university's voyage is made less taxing with tips and ideas from those who are ahead of u. To the science peeps. Do not go for physics practicals without having the materials lest u waste ample time doing little or nothing To the guys in most sought after depts. Be lowly, every one in the UI is a boss or bossress ![]() To the bicycle lovers. If u love riding as I do. Do reach me to get a bicycle that will make your university's days more fun I remain Amb Fitsaint. - 08136898088. |
Allocsoluwatosi:In fact no course is hard! They may be dreaded but dreadness and hardness are not semantically equivalent. Never! |
Some Stuff I Wish I Knew About UI beforehand There's this thing called the fresher's vibe. You wanna know everything, everyone and everywhere in such a short period of time because trust me,nobody wants to be tagged as a 'bloody, seemingly ignorant young fresher'. Entering UI was a major excitement for me. Finally,i had become a bonafide student of the first and best university in Nigeria....oh wait, till the matriculation. The first two weeks for me were very hectic. First week-General Medical Screening, Second week-Course registrations....and as God would have it,the fresher's orientation was also programmed for the first week. It was bad news to me because I had been looking forward to that orientation thingy the whole time! Just for it to clash with something else...but c'mon, one's gotta do what one has to do;the medical screening stuff became a priority since I heard that it was compulsory and all that. Do you know how many hours I had to stand and wait in an unending queue just to get my blood pressure checked?! Of course, you have no idea! (that wasn't the only thing by the way). If only I had known that one could do Medicals at any level, trust me, I wouldn't have had to bail on any of the orientation packages(which i heard were lots of fun and a source of major enlightenment) plus i wouldn't have been out of whack during course registration as a result of the strenuous screening. Then, there's this TDB(reading Till Day Break) ish too. I moved into my hall and I found out all freshers were agog about it. I began to hear things like 'To perform well in UI;TDB is inevitable' , 'You will get eroded or worse, tsunamized,if you don't do TDB'. That got impaled to my thinking faculty because it was everywhere and as a fresher, you'd believe almost anything a stallite says because.....obviously,they've scaled through everything you're yet to pass through. It took me a few headaches, boggy eyes and a failure in my first test to realize that TDB was definitely not my thing. I almost read my life out the night prior to the test day but when I got to the lecture hall, I suffered from a near 'hangover' and my mind was a complete blank. With blurred vision and fuzzy memory, I just practically shaded the options that looked correct to me. It was until i discussed with people that i discovered that i wasn't the only one in that predicament. Sleep does your brain a whole lot of good because you need an active and a well-relaxed mind, especially during exams. Don't get me wrong, if TDB suits you,go for it. Just make sure you utilize the period that works best for you maximally. Maybe if someone had stressed that, I wouldn't have made the mistakes i did. Okay, there's this really popular science course in UI...people generally perceive it as a really difficult course due to mass failure. You might or might not have heard about it but I won't be mentioning it. Before I even began course registrations, one stallite was like "Oh you're new? There's this course*blah blah blah* you have to be wary of. It's so freaking difficult to pass that course". Even before school resumed that session,my cousin had already drummed it into my ears that I had to pay special attention to the course and that I couldn't afford to fail it. I got gripped by fear at that instant...thinking i might actually fail the course. I began to be pessimistic about understanding it. I would lose interest in class if i didn't get a part of what the lecturer was saying. I didn't fail the course, eventually but I could've performed better considering the fact that there were even tougher courses in the second semester which i dissected quite easily. I wish i knew, earlier, that no course was impossible to have a perfect 7-point score in. It would've alleviated a lot of tension. Some guys will still tell you all sorts..."No,you can't have a first class in this department", "Oh,forget it. That lecturer isn't going to give you anything more than 60 in that course". They're all tall tales! You can break the jinx. "Honestly, the best period to have the time of your life is in 100 level", I was once told. And that's not exactly false, you know. That's a very risky adventure though because, coincidentally, the best period to record a high GP in your programme is 100 level...so,you see,you can't afford to gamble away time. I went for so many fresher's welcoming events, tried different churches, went to almost all the halls of residence to know how their food tastes, spent late nights meeting old friends;making new ones. I had fun, yeah, but at a cost. My academics suffered at its expense but i got back on track before it was too late. You might not be so lucky. If you're a deep socialite, contain yourself. Don't get too carried away by the thrill of becoming a university student. "There'll always be time to have fun. Just wait till the right time",I wish someone had said. nancyjulino:Welcome to the hauz. Enjoy every bit of your time here |
tophylee:I really don't understand Yoruba the way Ooni of Ife understands it tho. Omo karo ojire nimoje. Mada mi loun o Jere. Offended biti boo. I am as thick skinned as the skin of a leopard. Thanks for not wanting me d*ad... I can catch a grenade for peeps who want me alive forever more. |
rago:I am not even sure if the uploaded calendar I shared was gotten from the bulletin. I assumed the person who shared it with me must have snapped it on campus if it was not sourced from the bulletin So... Digest the one here for now till UI puts it on the bulletin. It is most likely to the calendar we shall tread on. Thanks! |
tophylee:Lol. Who told u I have got enemies BTW? |
Bravoosii:Cos when I speaketh, I useth my mouth When I writeth, I useth my hand Behold! ![]() |
keelz:Yeah! U address a letter that will vouch for your good conducts to the hall warden. It is not really big deal. They didn't even take it from me during the registration of my hall of residence |
rago:Lemme upload it then

Vibra:I suppose this to be a question. I use an electric keyboard, an electric stove , an electric bed, an electric chair and just think of anything electric. #Tongue in cheeks Electric stoves are not allowed in most halls as rumours would ring ut on my ears but students still manage to bring them along. We have some in the kitchenettes but most are already dysfunctional. Mind u the rule says we should Cook in the designated places but u know 98 percent of zikites cook in their rooms. Rules are quiet stringent in the female halls and they are on the verge of getting puritanical. Male halls are just flexible with their principles and conduct. |
To the guys out here who are either indolent or have a nasty cullinary skill. To the ladies out there who would love to maximize time by abdicating kitchen duties To the swotty dudes in the house who always want to jack or jerk UI is a school an average student can survive a day with just 350 naira and your 3 square meal will intact. I don't Cook or lemme say seldom cook and I still live like a king with d little cash I spend daily on foods. Market is outside the school and the mini markets we have are ( dunno what to say abt them jare) |
chrisokenyi6:Resumption date remains sacrosanct. I think u should visit the bulletin on UI's site to diwnlaoad the academic calendar for the year. It sounds pretty hilarious for a Nigerian university to release a prospestus to the hall occupants. For where? U are expected to come with stuffs a student will need for comfort, survival and u just mention it. Get yourself a student bed, standing fan, stove, electric cooker, kitchen utensils if u want to cook etc. |
ogundimuadebayo:Block A, B and C belong the freshers. I stay in block B. U know what that means. Ground floor starts from room no 1 to 15. I had recommend 1st or 2nd floor. |
