Methinks the health sector needs a revolution. Everyone should be allowed to grow and get to the zenith of their respective professional career.

I personally think dis thread is not about who lords it over. We(be it a para or medic) are here to share opinions, ask questions nd make logical contributions.

The ethics of dis thread have it dat paramedics nd medics are not here to compete on an unholy equality beauty contest d way Johesu nd Nma av it.

We are all cornerstones nd linchpins on dis instrutive nd educative thread be it a medic or a paramedic.

I just hope we can do away with getting eachother's hackles up to foster d progress of dis thread.

We don't offer maths. D Inorganic chem is treated @ 1st semester while d organic one @ 2nd semester.

You will get to know more abt each course when u resume. Just prepare ur mind

Bio101, Chm 101, Phy 101, phy 103, 3 GSTs and phy 107( practical phy). They don't sell handouts but u can either make photocopies of dem or ask a senior colleague to give u.

Oda depts offer maths.

U will av to pay for d GSTs registration @ GTbank @ d rate of #2500. It includes :

-ICT, -Nigeria pple nd culture nd -communication in english.

Osekita is not the closest ooooo. and those 25k houses you mentioned are all those rough rugged hostels where you have to share bathroom and toilet (una wey dey stay there dey try oooo). If you really want a good room for that price its either you go to iworoko or phase2 towards that Febisola road

Osekita might not be d closest, but it's surely one of the closest. I make a 15 min walk to d lecture theatre daily rait from my hostel. Ain't very close den?

It's all abt how much u av in ur pocket. I don't av a pechant for cheap hostels anyway but one has to be financially considerate.

le bien connu: i do not want to beleive that there are no nigerian doctors undergoing residency in Germany. US is too jampacked with intending IMGs from all parts of the world and that makes getting into a 'desired' residency program close to impossible. Germany competes with US in surgery and its way less competitive and more realistic if one displays a good mastery of the language. well, i shall continue to research on the subject and share my findings with the house.

by the way, congrats on your admission to the jesusalem of struggle. part one in ife is just a child's play. u gat absolutely nada to worry about.

I can afford as much as a 100k hostel per annum but I just had to lower my ego by settling for anoda last year.
I stay in okesita which is d closest to d skul, my hostel has well-water(one has to fetch) , power supply is fair, gimcrack toilets(one has to use it with skills)..*lolz* . I pay as low as 25k(agreement inclusive). I rented d cosy room for d pro tem time cos I will be off in 4 months' time afta dis semester.

U can get a hostel with close proximity to d campus as low as 25k if u re the rugged type(if u don't give a damn to jeers nd taunts) dat may emanate due to its low quality.

To the confines of my exposure nd knowledge, i don't think any state medical skul is immune to ASUU strike.
It is undoubtedly true that the demands to run a medical skul md teaching hospital are legion, dis unarguably justifies why state medical skuls charge students exorbitant fees which keep on soaring. From a general view point, i think Lasu charges 340k, Eksu 200k, OOU 250k, lautech 80k, AAUA 80k.

N.B( the figures above are just ball park estimate, there4 not 100% accurate).

I don't know much abt d fees of state medical skuls @ other geo-political zones.

If ur bro really cares abt d convenience of paying such fees nd passionately hankers for medicine, it does little stress for him to enroll for jamb again nd fill in a cheap fed university. His CGPA is not ideally nd legally encouraging to be considered for medicine into any reputable medical skul. Impossible is nothing anyway in 9ja.

If the truth must be said, changing ur dept to medicine after 1st year might be synonymous to kissing ur elbow as far as eksu is concerned. I av neva hrd or seen anyone who has successfully crossed to medicine through his/her exemplary CGPA in the 1st year. My friends dat crossed had to re-write jamb again last year.

College of medicine is very stringent with her quota(from NUC nd NMDC), as she even delights in pruning off mediocres( pple with any form of deficiencies in any course) in 100 level to other depts. 15 or 16 medics in 100 level were sent packing from the college last session let alone making any consideration to admit any one from oda depts.

It is apparent dat u deserve to be admitted for medicine dis year as we av pple with far-lesser aggregrates dat I personally know being offered admission dis year. U just av to play smart nd dearly dance to d tune next time if u intend applying for medicine next year.
I empathize with u cos I av been in same shoe u re at present. If not for God, I wud av ended up in anoda dept.

1) What next?
2) My admission status on the JAMB website reads agric economics....how do I print my admission letter?
3) The name on all my document reads Abraham Isaac Oluwatimileyin but the one on my SSCE result is Abraham Isaac Timilehin. Big problem?

1. Print the skul's admission leta dat has ur desired course(BCH). 2.
Register ur complaint abt d course on d jamb's site with the admissions officer.
3. The slight nominal difference on ur waec nd jamb is not a big deal. I had d same ish nd I was cleared effortlessly.
4. Go to the skul asap to begin ur clearance

Dr. I realise dat many active medics on d thread passed away ur question. This I think is as a result of d country u intend going for ur residency. Germany is not a common place for residency. Had it been the US, the UK nd likes, ur question wud av been heeded to.

I am one of d newly admitted medics in OAU. I wish to know u more to discuss some stuffs with u.

FYI, Eksu admitted 59 last year for d MBBS programme. 16 medics were admitted in d supplementary list if I am not mistaken last year

phase1: Please house, i'd like to know if one can get into any University with a 3.20/5.0 CGPA in MLS through DE for Medicine/surgery. Thanks for your anticipated reply.

It hinges on ur skul of intent. Different univs have different criteria for admitting medical aspirants through DE. It wud av been easier if u had crossed a CGPA of 4.0.

3.2 is quite low for consideration into MBBS in any reputable institution. And if u don't mind the fee, applying to a state univ will be veritable. Lasu, OOU or lautech will be less competitive to get in with a passable CGPA. Connection will also av a long way to go sir

Get ur waec original result from ur skul, ur waec print out from d net, LGA's identification, letter of acceptance, LOR(leta of recommendation), DOB, etc. U will be given a slip dat contains d needed credentials during clearance. I don't think d original jamb result is necessary, it might be waived. Dey didn't request it during d clearance.
