PoliticsI Know Of Abuses At Lekki Tollgate But Massacre Is Debatable – Datti Baba-ahmed by ambu2(op):
The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Senator Yusuf Datti-Baba Ahmed says it is not certain if there was a massacre at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State on October 20, 2020.

Ahmed disclosed this on Thursday on Channels TV programme, Politics Today.

According to him, the use of “massacre” during the October 20, 2020 event is highly debatable.

“There was abuse of procedure, if some people interpret that as massacre. The use of 'massacre' in #EndSARS is highly debatable but I can say for sure there were abuses of procedure and civil rights violations,” he said.

He added that it was “heavy” to say that the Labour Party was a beneficiary of the #EndSARS protest.

Ahmed said, “It’s a very heavy statement to make, saying that our party, Labour Party is a beneficiary of EndSARS. While we are always on the side of the people, on side of good governance, we are against attrition; we are against repression and all those.

“You may be more correct to put it in another way, but we are not direct beneficiaries of EndSARS. The use of the word ‘massacre’ is highly debatable. We never wanted EndSARS to happen. We never want any Nigerian whatsoever to be attacked. Accordingly, we are not happy for anybody to say we are beneficiaries of EndSARS.

“We benefit from a peaceful Nigeria. That is what we benefit from. We benefit from progress and development. We are about correcting all the mistakes of bad governance.”

SaharaReporters had reported that soldiers on October 20, 2020 opened fire on the protesters, who had converged at the Lekki tollgate to protest against police brutality.

The incident triggered a global outrage, with calls for justice echoing from different parts of the world.

It was gathered that before the shooting started, some officials uninstalled the Closed Circuit Television cameras in the area.

The electricity at the protest area was also disconnected to prevent demonstrators from filming the attack.

Minutes later, heavily armed Nigerian Army personnel moved into the scene to complete the plan.

By the time sounds of their guns died down, dozens of protesters had been killed.

Though Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu blamed “forces beyond our control” for the attack, the army in a statement later revealed that the soldiers were invited to the scene of protest by the governor.

Also soldiers involved in the operation confirmed they were drafted in for the mission on the request of Sanwi-Olu.

Angered by the killings by the army and the Lagos State Government's suspected involvement in the massacre, angry residents attacked public properties and also destroying some known investments of a former governor of the state and Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

Television Continental and The Nation Newspaper are two among several investments burnt by irate youths.

The toll plaza of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, another money spinner said to be controlled by the former Lagos governor was also burnt.

No more BS about manifestos. Provision of security is in APC manifesto but Pres. Buhari didn't have practical ideas to back it up. It has economic growth but the current government lack specific functional ideas and programs to drive diversification through massive agric production and processing, exploitation of our mineral and marine resources, and human resources development. It has sports and youth development but the government has no back up roadmap and programs to develop sports.

So the issue is, what practical ideas each candidate has to implement the generic issues in the party manifesto in solving Nigeria's problems?

PoliticsObiano Left N400 Million Cash And Over N100 Billion In Debt – Soludo by ambu2(op): 4:41pm On Mar 22, 2022
Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo revealed on Tuesday the debt left behind by his predecessor, Willie Obiano, is in excess of N100 billion.

Soludo, while speaking on the Morning Show on Arise Television monitored by Daily Sun said his predecessor left N300 or 400 million cash and a debt of over N100 billion as of December 31, 2021.

The revelation from Soludo comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) recently arrested former Governor Willie Obiano at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

‘First, in terms of finances, there is an audited account of Anambra as at December 31, 2021, which is a public document which anyone can access. Between the audited accounts as at the end of the year 2021, everyone knows that the state finances are not quite robust. In terms of debt, it is in the range of over N100 billion and then cash at which the state has is N300 or N400 million, but we are still going to have all the reconciliations and all the accounts from January to the date we had the handover,’ he revealed.

According to Soludo, ‘Anambra State intends to have a transparent public finance management where we are going to publish our accounts so that everyone will have a knowledge of what is there and what is missing and what funds have been used for.’

Speaking further, the former Central Bank Governor, revealed that conversations around that are still ongoing as the state is engaging with all stakeholders to tackle security challenges in the state.

‘After the swearing-in, I went into the office straight away and a few minutes after that I started the security council meeting of the state which lasted more than three hours. The conversations about that are still ongoing and I believe that we will get to crack it and the sit-at-home thing will definitely end. We are in discussions with the stakeholders, IPOB and everyone else and it is the people’s power that will prevail at the end of the day.

‘The poor innocent artisans like keke drivers and traders are suffering; but the elite, they can afford to watch TV and so the state is losing out as its people are impoverishing. We are determined to restore law and order,’ he said.

PoliticsAPGA Backs Soludo, Faults Party Members’ Exclusion Claim by ambu2(op): 4:50pm On Feb 15, 2022
The National Coordinator, Media Warriors Forum of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Evang. Chinedu Obigwe, has debunked the report that the incoming governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, was excluding members of the party from his government.

Obigwe stated this in Awka, on Tuesday, while addressing journalists, following a publication by one Eneh Victor Chigozie, that Soludo was gradually sidelining APGA members in the formation of his cabinet.

He described the report as a baseless insinuation coming from an armchair critic working for the opposition party to pull APGA down in the state.

He assured party faithful that Soludo would assemble the best crop of people that will do the work with genuine commitment in delivering the dividends of good governance to ndi Anambra.

Obigwe explained that only people of little faith were the ones losing hope in Soludo and were probably the ones who are behind the negative publication.

He said, “Soludo is a product of APGA and the last thing he will do is to abandon the party he used as a vehicle to actualise his governorship ambition.

“When he released the list of his transition committee members, people of little faith started saying this same cock and bull story and I debunked it immediately.

“He knows very well that the party he used as a vehicle to become governor needs servicing and he will definitely service that vehicle. The only thing is that a lot will change under Soludo’s watch.”

He advised Anambra people who reposed confidence in Soludo not to relent saying that the former CBN boss would live up to expectations by making the people proud.

He urged all genuine supporters of Soludo to embrace his radical change plan for the betterment of the state, adding that he wants to reduce the cost of governance for the benefit of the general public.

“It is not true that Soludo, the incoming governor is excluding APGA members from his yet-to-be constituted government. All genuine supporters of Soludo are confident that he will not disappoint the party members and they are also confident that he will not abandon them.

“Some armchair critics like Chigozie are being sponsored by the opposition parties to pull APGA down in Anambra by putting out baseless publications. A genuine supporter of APGA and Soludo will not associate him or herself with such lies.

“Soludo will assemble the best team and it will be made up of people that will do the work with genuine commitment. His mindset is that he wants a clean sweep of all legislative seats in Anambra State and he also wants APGA to make inroads into other states in the South-East and Nigeria at large.

“My stand is that all genuine supporters of Soludo should embrace his radical change plan for the betterment of our beloved State. I am confident that he will not abandon his supporters because already plans are in top gear on how to empower some of them that will not be appointees in his government,” he added.
