Broadcasting giant SuperSport have announced they are not going to televise Confederation of African Football (Caf) matches until further notice.

According to a statement issued by SuperSport‚ the reason for the blackout is because of Caf terminating its agency agreement with French broadcast company Lagardère Sports.

SuperSport’s non-broadcasting of Caf games will commence with the Under-23 African Cup of Nations that starts in Egypt this weekend.

It’s a critical time for SuperSport to be pulling out as the tournament serves as the qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics men’s football tournament.

The broadcast blackout also extends to the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers that resume on Wednesday‚ November 13.

This means there's a high possibility of South African fans missing out on the matches against Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday and Sunday’s game against Sudan at the Orlando Stadium.

MultiChoice group executive for corporate affairs Joe Heshu said SuperSport are in a difficult position of not being able to broadcast Caf games without a contract.

“We are in a difficult position where we cannot broadcast the Caf games when we don’t have a firm contractual arrangement in place. SuperSport previously acquired these broadcast rights from Lagardère‚” Heshu said.

What is currently happening in Edo is a classic illustration of permanent interests but not permanent friendship. For Oshiomole and his group, the interest is POLITICAL RELEVANCE and for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu (POI) the interest is achieving his GOVERNORSHIP AMBITION. There is a fit of selfish interests.

However, the million naira question remains if Ize-Iyamu wins, what is the assurance that he will not also fight Oshiomole and his group?

After seeing Burna suddenly sky rocketing like a shooting star, here he is, thinking a manager is the problem while the absence of a music talent in the first place is the problem.

What about the time he spent washing Drake's car every morning? All became a waste because his monotonous music talent couldn't earn him any favour from Drake apart from cleaning the studio.

I'd have expected him to stick to displaying his strippers at the back of vans and thank his star for making him blow in music with the absence of a musical talent rather than thinking he needs a manager, because in reality he should still be in the studio running errands for some upcoming artistes.

I read this article and found it a bit petty.

With Nigerian economy experiencing and exiting recession induced by looting of public funds and faced with deteriorated infrastructure to drive the economy as well as declining oil prices to fund the running of the economy adequately, the onus rests on the President Buhari shortly after assuming office in 2015 to design steps to renew the dying infrastructure and diversify the economy away from dependency on oil. Part of plan of action designed was reach out to more advanced economies to help us, which require diplomatic shuttles and bilateral talks at Head of State level rather than ministerial level. It is the person who needs help that visit the people who will help him and not vice versa.

Interestingly, if President Buhari had decided to delegate rather than travel to personally attend the numerous international economic fora or visit friendly countries to explore mutual economic interests, many of his critics would have made so much noise about his lack of requisite social and diplomatic skills as president. By the way, President Buhari is not usually lone Head of State at these conferences, which means the President or Prime Ministers of many other countries travel too.

What put Nigeria in its current bad shape economically did not come from presidential diplomatic engagements but from insincere leaderships and selfish politicians and civil servants who stole money meant for critical projects.

The fact is that as the President, Buhari has the responsibility to do what he considered best as far as the constitution allows to strengthen the economy and improve the quality of life of Nigerians in the long term.

Moreover, having experienced and survived a strange ailment that took him away for several months, the scheduled private visit to UK is necessary for his well-being and is undertaken as part of his entitled annual vacation period.

Ironically, although 90% of former members of military ruling councils and their fronts as well as politicians and their cronies who raped Nigeria and squandered the massive wealth made oil boom did not travel much but the money they stole travelled far and wide into their foreign bank accounts.

Even by your own definition, the amount of foreign reserves you have determines how much you can trade on the international market and also how stable your currency will be.

If you have nothing in your foreign reserves, your spending power is nothing and you cannot import. We need a huge foreign reserve base because we are an import based economy.

Deleting your foreign reserves will bite you and your currency will start flip-flopping or the CBN wont have fOREX to give industries to import raw materials.

And yes, a government can brag about raising Foreign reserve as this makes you stable and increases investor confidence.
