Politics / Obama Demands Information On Yar’adua’s Health by amebono1: 10:15am On Mar 01, 2010 |
US President Barack Obama‘s administration has put an urgent request to Aso Rock: What is the condition of President Umaru Yar’Adua‘s health? A US-based Nigerian news agency, Empowered Newswire, reported that after a US government statement, issued by the State Department on Friday, an answer to the American request is still being awaited. This is amid growing concern in Washington DC about the future of Nigeria, especially since last week‘s sudden return of Nigeria‘s ailing President. According to a daily US government bulletin circulated among top US government officials and a handful of interested reporters, “The US diplomats in Abuja have asked Nigerian officials about Yar‘Adua‘s condition.” Although the Americans are yet to get a response, the government bulletin said the US was aware that the Nigerian “President is in ‘dire health’ and is unable to govern the country.” It is believed that based on US intelligence and diplomatic reports, the Americans knew clearly that Yar’Adua was in no condition to return to his seat because of the seriousness of his medical problems. This explains why the US sent its Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Mr. Johnnie Carson, to meet with Acting President Goodluck Jonathan recently to assure him of America’s support. That knowledge, it is also believed, influenced a series of US government activities on Nigeria like the US Senate’s hearing last Tuesday on the matter and the press availability of top US officials dealing with Nigeria this past week. The daily US government bulletin quoted a top State Department official as saying, “We do have concerns about his movement from Saudi Arabia back into Nigeria and what some people around him might be trying to do with that.” The US official also added that this was “the basis of the warnings that have been issued from Washington to Nigeria in recent days.” The bulletin was titled, “Concern in Washington over Nigerian Political Stability” and was written as a news story by a US State Department official, Mr. Stephen Kaufman. According to Kaufman, “The Obama administration has concerns over the stability of Nigeria and says that while it welcomes the return of incapacitated President Umaru Yar‘Adua, the country needs a ‘strong and effective leader’ in charge.” The bulletin also quoted the US Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, P.J. Crowley, as saying on Friday that ”what‘s important first and foremost is who is , the recognised leader of Nigeria,, and right now I believe it is Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.” According to Crowley, as quoted in the bulletin, the US is concerned that Yar’Adua’s return could be “an effort by his senior advisers to upset Nigeria‘s stability in an effort to forward their personal interests.” Crowley added, “We have tremendous concern about stability. And our message to all of the players in Nigeria is: make sure that this moves forward in a stable, constitutional and democratic way. Nigeria at this point needs a strong and effective leader to ensure the stability of the country and to manage Nigeria‘s many political, economic and security challenges.” Carson had earlier stated that the US had determined that Nigeria could be ignored or dismissed, hinting that the US would likely continue being particularly outspoken until the matter was completely resolved in Aso Rock. On Wednesday, President Yar’Adua’s spokesman, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, issued a statement addressing Goodluck as Vice-President instead of Acting President. This drew the ire of some Nigerians and Nigeria‘s foreign partners like the US, which issued a prompt statement openly rebuking a situation whereby some senior advisers were trying to turn the President‘s return into an opportunity to promote their selfish ambitions. The US statement reacting to the sudden return specifically raised doubts about the President‘s medical fitness, forcing Adeniyi to retract the statement the following day and address Jonathan as Acting President. http://news.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=16425&z=31 |

0hsisi: my mums thoughts too ,naa i've always known what i wanted, early marriage was a thing for me, i desired it with a great passion even when i was little, and i guess God honoured my prayer, i am against 16 or 15 yrs old getting married, but once my daughter turns 18 ,shes free to get married It was one decision i did not regret for one day, osisi you know ehn, if you meet the right person you will know, when you meet your partner there is this strong force, i really dont know how to explain, but im sure you felt same when you met your own husband, na that force drag me inside, infact i was so scared of my dad so tey when i arrive naija, i talk say i go sleep for hotel room cos i wasnt ready to face the man, but today the man dey enjoy the benefits of a being a father inlaw ,infact i dey complain sef say i think my dad loves him better than me seriously them fit talk for fone for hours and i end up talking with my father for a few mins Ive got the best family my sister and only one nairalander has been opportuned to meet them |

0hsisi: Yea, cos i remember when he proposed, i was like " excuse me, i just met you, i dont even know you" and then he said " i wanna date and know you whilst we are married" my dear i did not even have the time to plan a wedding, cos the guy was so obsessed so tey him no give me time, i remember i had to leave sometime in my second semester to travel back to naija , infact na after second semester, i go for honeymoon When a man meets the woman he wants osisi i tell you the only words that keeps ringing or beating a drum in his ears are " go for her, else someone else will take away from you" When i read stories here of gurls dat have dated their men for 5 yrs not to even talk of 10 sef, i ask myself, " did someone blindfold this gurl or sthg" deep inside their heart, they know that time is running and they've decided to console themselves wit words like " i wanna finish school, before i marry" when they finish school they change their words to " i wanna enjoy life to the fullest and do things before i get married" I personally cannot even date a guy for 2 yrs back then, seriously And i always say this, been married will not stop you from going to school,as long as you marry that person that is truly yours, he or she will amke the road smooth for you, i finished school in my husbands house, and i will never regret getting married in my early teens |
Romance / Re: How To Know The Nigerian Man You're Dating Is Not Ready For Marriage by amebono1: 1:28am On Feb 18, 2010 |
Osisi i agree with everything but, the meeting his mother aspect, alot of men have gone as far as proposing to a gurl, meeting her family just to get inbtw her legs, there is this guy in europe who's introduced if not a million girls to his mum,and the mum knows that this dude is just out there to sleep with women, introducing to mum is not a guarantee to marriage, introducing to the whole family member is not a guarantee to marriage, i was introduced to someones family members and even had his mum begging me to come to the east to spend some time with her, at the end of the day i married someone else I've seen couples separate after trad wedding, men of these days can even go along with the wedding plans until hes gotten what he wants I agree with chika on the part of a guy being excited when he meets the right woman and wants to marry her ASAP, i did not date my husband for up to 3 months before he proposed In all if a girl isnt ready to be deceived the best thing is keep your legs closed, even if the guy leaves you tomorrow, sucide will be far from your mind |
