For years, I have consistently supported the privatisation of Nigeria’s state-owned refineries, and recent events have only reinforced that position. The admission by NNPCL that the $1.5 billion spent on the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery was largely wasted is painful, but sadly not surprising. This is a clear example of a system that keeps consuming public funds without delivering real value to Nigerians. At a time when citizens are struggling with high fuel prices, inflation, and economic uncertainty, such massive waste of scarce resources is unacceptable. This is why I align with Atiku Abubakar’s long-standing call for privatisation. For decades, government-managed refineries have failed to operate efficiently despite repeated budgetary allocations and turnaround maintenance projects. The results have always been the same: poor output, corruption concerns, and zero accountability. Privatisation is not about selling national assets cheaply or excluding Nigerians. It is about efficiency, transparency, and professionalism. The private sector is driven by performance, competition, and results. If properly regulated, privatised refineries can reduce waste, attract investment, create jobs, and ensure steady fuel supply something government ownership has clearly failed to achieve. Countries that have taken this path have seen improvements in productivity and reduced pressure on public finances. Nigeria should not be different. Government should focus on regulation and oversight, not running businesses it has repeatedly proven incapable of managing effectively. Atiku’s position is not new, and it is not political noise it is a practical solution backed by evidence. The Port Harcourt Refinery saga is yet another reminder that we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Nigeria deserves better. Our resources must work for the people, not disappear into failed projects. Privatisation is no longer optional, it is necessary. |
No circulation here in Akwa Ibom State. This morning, I've gone to like 5 ATMs with different banks, unable to dispense cash. It is annoying. |
PDP is already in crisis. If the party can't unify itself, how will it unify Nigeria? It is a shame. They won't win. That's the bitter truth. |
This is 50naira in my state, Akwa Ibom State. I've bought it and cooked palatable beans today. |
It is risky to open schools. Measures in school ain't enough. |
As long as OZIL isn’t featuring in your games, nothing can come out of that ARSENAL side. If ARTETA likes he should continue forming hard guy. Soon we go see ARSENAL vs BOLTON wanderers |
Happy birthday to the destroyer of Nigeria's economy. The day he borrowed such a huge loan from International Monetary Fund was the day Naira was devalued. He is one of the brains behind our sufferings today. God will judge them one by one. Nonsense. |

The reason is so stupid. The Governor will appeal and will still remain the Governor till Appeal sits. Development in Bayelsa will be delayed. |
Common Npower beneficiaries, they can't employ or give them packages to go and establish themselves. Nonsense and scam government. |
After this meeting, more innocent soldiers from the South will be killed. There was a country |
He has been compensated already. Let him face one . |
Buhari won, Atiku didn't lose, what is lost is the moral fabric of our country that is further depleted: Prof Akinyemi Onigbinde. And I dare add lost also are our collective future, educational value, national pride el al. |
I love this |
Tonto Dike, Mrs childish. Maturity isn't in the age. |
Over 150 Nigerians killed in Zamfara. My leader is rushing out to celebrate with others while his own people are mourning. Are Zamfara people not human beings? Are they less human. |
Too much money guy |
Mr project deserves the victory |
Is Gbajabiamila aware that he is from the same geopolitical zone with the Osibanjo the Vice President? |
This is what you get when you humble your self before God and man. Against all odds, God stood with him. Only God did it. His victory is victory for Akwa Ibom democracy. The masses are the real heros here. Congratulations the people's governor |
MY VIEW POINT My ears are now full with noise, sound and music arising from the suspension of Walter Onnoghen and swearing in of Dr. Tanko as acting CJN by Mr. President. Show of emotions and display of intellectual knowledge of the law are awash. Self appointed legal luminaries and public commentators are busy projecting their viewpoints. Opinion camps are becoming real; those for and those against. The stage is set for insults and praise. I have come to understand Nigerians are interesting people whose opinion on national discourse follows political, tribal, religious and other warped affiliations. When misdeeds farvor them they gladly raise their selfish flag and speak with so much eloquence with intention to convince you that color black is actually color white. Alas, if they find themselves in the other side, all hell is let loose. They will suddenly remember such words as injustice, unfair, bigotry and bla bla bla... Now, am so convinced that Dr. Tanko, the brand new acting CJN and those in his camp are smiling, thanking God and praising Buhari to high heavens while Walter's camp are licking their wounds and cursing Buhari and asking God, why? The evil spirits of politics, tribe, religious are hovering around looking for whom to devour. That explains the anger, press releases and silence we are experiencing since Buhari plunged the "forbidden fruit" My take: One man meat is another man poison. Fortunately for Tanko, he now has a national meat on his table and Walter table is now full with nestle and other bitter weeds. Needless for all these public outcry; Baba has done it and no going back. Tanko camp to celebration and merry making and Walter camp, hmmmm, wound licking. By now, the new CJN is singing a popular calabar song:"Tinkoriko nke kam ntietie mbet" Life issues are all about winning and losing. |
Dear PDP and their supporters, You had 16 years to radically #ReformPoliceNG and Judiciary+Prison systems. Also to RESTRUCTURE/devolve powers I'm reiterating this to you and APC; the institutions you fail to reform, will be used against you. It is "Turn by Turn Nigeria PLC." |

Needed a win today just to blow the cobwebs out after a slightly negative transfer window. Beefy at the end after some confusion between Bailly & De Gea but the result was all important. Main highlights are in central midfield. Pogba was excellent tonight. Real leader’s performance. Fred with a positive debut and good to see him add some bite and energy. Gave it away a few times but overall a good debut. My personal highlight was Andreas Pereira. Moved into a deeper role than he’s played previously during preseason and he looked comfortable. Put some good tackles in, good under pressure and looked to pass forward when he could. Even though Luke Shaw scored in the game, he needs to step up his game. He sometimes play like a secondary school boy. He lost control alot. We're United! |
This is bad and this is not democracy. |
GAME OVER. 49 Senators signed in support of Saraki. That leaves 50 remaining. 73 are required to impeach SP. Mission Impossible. Another OWN goal by APC. PDP 3 APC 0 |

it will be an insult to deny @HEDankwambo the PDP presidential ticket. He stayed in the party through thick and thin, despite the @mbuhari tsunami. Turncoats chose the easy way out, once a traitor always one. He is a stable man,he has results,my vote is for him. |
If wishes were horses, I would have closed my eyes and open it just to see @HEDankwambo becoming the next president of our country. I'm not a politician, but the unusual works he's done in Gombe speaks so much of him. I wish him success in his political career. |
One can only wonder how 8 out of 30 members was able to this. Sai baba! |
Oh Nigeria, my country. It's a scam ooo |
When you leave office, another person will also probe you. It's good to probe tho |
