State government has expressed satisfaction over the ongoing Presidential Amnesty Program at Innoson Kiara Academy.

Governor Willie Obiano stated this at the Commissioning of Education for Employment (E4E) Program for Niger Delta Youths at the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Nnewi.

The Program is a youth empowerment and industry support initiative in partnership with IVM, the federal and State government, aimed at equipping the Niger Delta Youths with several entrepreneurship skills such as vehicle body works, mechanic, air conditioner repairs, among others

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Obiano applauded the initiative saying that it is the best way to internalize the Niger Delta youths by equipping them with requisite skills for gainful employment.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, the Governor called on more people, especially industrialists in different sectors, to replicate what Innoson is doing.

The Special Adviser the President and the Coordinator of the Program, Rtd Brigadier General Paul Boroh, stressed that the program which had been on course since 2009 seeks to ensure that the youths start something on their own, thereby leaving the stipend regime, pointing out that with the program in place, alot more armed youths are laying down their arms to join.

Brigadier General Boroh who disclosed that it is the first time they are training people on assembling cars anywhere in Nigeria, noted that three thousand, five hundred and eighty three thousand youths have been successfully empowered, and that one thousand and forty are currently in the program, all geared towards pursing further peace and infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of the Innoson Kiara Academy, Mr Endi Ezengwa said that the program which is under the Ministry of Education's SEPIP program has faired well in Nnewi, having an entrepreneurship atmosphere, expressing optimism that mini Innoson Vehicle Companies will spring up in the South South region in the coming years.

Mr Ezengwa added that the youths at the end will be empowered with skills, with money in their pockets.

Accompanying the Governor was the Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha.

Is Anambra still part of Nigeria, even when other states are struggling with minimum of 5-10months salary arrears with no capital project to show? Despite the huge capital infrastructural projects going on all over Anambra, the governor is still meeting up with the state's recurrent bills.

To the Glory of Almighty God, the Anambra state government has paid the March 2016 salaries of all civil servants and Secondary School Teachers in the state ahead of the Easter celebrations. Pensioners will be paid today, Saturday.

Anambra state is one of the two States in Nigeria to achieve this feat ahead of Easter and confirms Governor Willie Obiano's commitments to the welfare and wellbeing of not only civil servants in the state but the entire citizenry.

It is also evident that 'Willie is Working' even on public holidays. The Governor and his team worked all day on Good Friday to give joy to thousands of Anambra families for Easter.

The chairman National Executive Council Arewa consultative Forum and sarduana of Kastina Alhaji Ibrahim Coomasie says the present tempo of development in the state is a clear indication that Governor Willie Obiano is a prudent manager of resources.

Alhaji Coomasie stated this when he paid a courtesy visit on governor Willie Obiano at the governor's lodge Amawbia.

According to Dr Coomasie,, Anambra has recorded series of development within the past two years expressing satisfaction with the hospitality he and his team enjoyed in Anambra.

He promised to always keep in constant touch with Governor Obiano especially in partnering the state for more development.

Receiving the Arewa consultative Forum chairman, Governor Obiano appreciated him for the visit and for finding the state hospitable.

Governor Obiano explained that they discussed areas of interest with the Sarduana of Kastina state where the two States can help each other in terms of development.

Government house correspondent Ngozi Obileri reports that the Sarduana of Kastina state who is a former inspector General of Police was honoured with an honourary doctorate degree award in Public Administration by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

It is possible that most of the people from the North has "NEPA" bills as certificates, so you cannot possibly employ such people in a place like CBN, even though Buhari got such waive. Remember that Zamfara, Yobe among other Northern states are scoring 2 and 6 in order to gain admission in the Federal schools whereas states like Anambra and Delta had to score as high as 139 and 138 respectively to attend the same school. The possibility that there is dearth of qualified candidates from the North cannot be ruled out. Remember also that what you need to be qualified is Western education and not Arabic nor Quaranic education.

The multi-million Onitsha shopping mall being promoted by Messrs African Capital Alliance, a private equity investment company in collaboration with the Anambra State Government, has attained a 64 percent completion level and would be ready for commissioning by mid 2015. The project is anchored by Shoprite, the popular South African retail company.

Located at the old Anambra Broadcasting Building in the commercial city, the mall which comprises 55 shops of various sizes, will be managed by Broll Nigeria Limited upon completion. Already, the road leading to Park Street where the mall is sited, has been dualised and resurfaced with traffic lights by the state government to accommodate the volume of human and vehicular traffic on the road preparatory to the 2015 take-off date.

These disclosures were made at the public unveiling of the mall to prospective tenants and investors in Lagos last week by Mr. Obi Nwogugu of African Capital Alliance.

He gave reasons for the establishment of the mall in Onitsha. According to Nwogugu, Onitsha is the fifth fastest growing city in the world with the biggest market in West Africa known as Onitsha Main Market. “It is the economic nerve centre and the gateway to the eastern part of Nigeria. It is known to be a major commercial city in the South-Eastern Nigeria,” he said.

He noted that the vision of Anambra state government and his company for the Onitsha mall is to build an infrastructure that would attract private capital into the state. He pointed out that Anambra state is ranked second in telecommunications disposable income and highest in commercial and micro-finance banks branches in the Eastern Nigeria. The city, according to him, recently attracted investment worth $120 million from South African Breweries, which is currently planning to double its investment due to the success of the business in the area.

The project is being funded by African Capital Alliance and Anambra State government while Diamond Bank is the debt financier. He allayed fears of insecurity expressed by some people at the public unveiling.

According to him, “in terms of safety of lives and property, the state has recently received a significant investment in security equipment and personnel in the city, which created an enabling environment for business to thrive”.

Prominent features

Prominent features of the mall include 12,100 square meters of net lettable space; 24 hours electricity and security, over 500 parking bays; six local and international restaurants, central air conditioning, ATM galleries and an average of five stores reserved for commercial banks. He said the lucrative business environment, which provides huge investment opportunities for investors, is another major reason for building the mall which he described asthe first of its kind in the commercial town.

He said February 1, 2015 is the proposed date for all the tenants to start occupying their spaces as the beneficial occupation shall be granted to tenants to commence their shop fit-outs, which is expected to take 30 to 60 days before the formal commissioning date.

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has announced a partnership with the United States in the four key areas of his development plan for the state.

The Governor made the announcement on Saturday after a closed door meeting with the United States Consular General in Lagos, John Bray, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

The key sectors include: Agriculture, trade and commerce, oil and gas, and industrialisation.

Governor Obiano said that waste management and education would also be taken into perspective.

He noted that another meeting had been scheduled where the two parties would study carefully the proposed details of collaboration that would accelerate the development of the state.

The Consular General commended the Governor for the increased security arrangement in the state which he said would guarantee the safety of residents and visitors.

Mr Bray also commended the impressive road network which he said could not be found in several other states.

He, however, said the visit was a fact finding one in which the information gathered would be taken home for processing.

Bank of Industry with the leadership of the acting MD/CEO Waheed Olagunju says the Bank is ready to partner with all state governments on solar electrification projects in off grid areas. He also said “the bank and UNDP will commission solar electrification projects in other communities in Anambra, Edo and Kaduna state. It essentially is a programme aimed at poverty alleviation and rural economic development. Waheed Olagunju assures that the Bank’s medium term vision is to ensure 100,000 homes have solar systems in the next 5 years.
