Anambra arguably has the highest number of celebrities in Nigeria. When I say celebrities, I mean the top of the class celebrities of which Anambra leads the rest of Nigeria. I may be wrong or right if I say that Anambra produced well over 30% of celebrities in Nigeria. I will be uploading their dossier with pictures as we go on. |

Anambra State is tightening security around territorial borders, with an aerial police helicopter surveillance to search out enclaves of Fulani herdsmen in forests and bushes. Governor Willie Obiano said that six camps of the herdsmen had been discovered at the neighbouring borders, though without any threat to the peace of the state. He told reporters that the leaders of the Hausa-Fulani Community in the state had been instructed to visit those blocks and find out the identities of the various groups and inform them of the existing agreement between cattle herders and host communities. Part of the agreement is a prohibition of the use of AK47 by herdsmen and the payment of compensation when farmlands are destroyed by herdsmen or cattle killed by any community. Meanwhile, soldiers and other security agencies have been camped in Umumbo community where threats of attack from suspected herdsmen have been observed. The aerial surveillance of the Police Helicopter covers major cities in Anambra state and then extends to interior areas and territorial borderlines of the state including thick forests, bushes and farmlands in search of any encampment of herdsmen anywhere for proper identification in order to forestall any possibilities of attack or clashes following the recent attack on a community in Enugu state. The surveillance is the initiative of Governor Obiano with the assistance of the Inspector General of Police, as a measure to check the activities of herdsmen in and around the borderlines of the state. According to the Governor, the surveillance has yielded fruits, as six blocks of unknown Fulani herdsmen have been discovered though without any threat to the peace of the state in the meantime. Proactive actions for proper identification of the herders are being put in place through the Hausa-Fulani leaders in the state. Aside the aerial surveillance, the Governor also enjoined the police to patrol with the smart cars provided by the state government in the night and ensure that herdsmen moving their cattle in the night do not constitute another menace on the roads either by causing accidents or blocking the road. The State Commissioner of Police, Hassan Karma, said that the surveillance team was well equipped to track down criminals while also responding to distress calls from threatened communities. Umumbo is one of the threatened communities in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state which shares boundaries with Enugu state. The surveillance team arrived with the Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment of Onitsha Military Cantonment, Colonel I.M. Abdullahi, to ascertain the security situation in the area of which he received assurances that everything was under control according to the President General of the community, Anthony Okafor. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/05/16/herdsmen-attacks-anambra-tightens-security-around-states-borders/ |
Tolexander:Work is still ongoing. |
Keep doing great in your home state of Anambra. The game village comprises of sports complex, 5 star hotel, mall, official residences and other recreational facilities.
|
AtlanticBreeze:The city is taking the center stage in Nigeria. Standard roads are being wired through the city to stand out. I need to get the present level of construction on the roads below.

Kennydoc:Don't bother yourself as we all know that Onitsha is a beautiful neat city. Someone has already pointed out the basis for the survey and it was limited to the Eastern cities whereas we know that the PM for Lagos is by far more than Onitsha or any other major eastern city. So worry not as the reality defeats the so called report.
|
Omokunlex:Any evidence of your assertion in this beautiful city?

ifyalways:Onitsha is a beautiful mega city and very clean at the moment. They are talking of Onitsha of 15yrs ago. Onitsha of today is superb as the economic power house of the East. Don't mind what people say here out of envy.

19naia:The Niger bridge has always been the hotspot. Even the survey was done at the niger bridge area during high traffic season. But the larger Onitsha metropolis is devoid of this as the niger bridge is the convergence point between the north and south. This is one of reasons for the construction of the second niger bridge which is off Onitsha metropolis towards south of River niger but still within view. Second niger bridge will go along way. |
sonnie10:The study was actually done only in the SE, and all of the cities studied according to this information below has the PM. Thanking you for going deeper in this to unravelling the facts. Air pollution is a worldwide affair and Nigeria is not an exception.

19naia:The first and second pix are Onitsha while the 3rd and 4th are Asaba. Just so you know the difference in the pictures. |

sucess001:The mall was developed by the Anambra state government and Africa Capital Alliance. It is more or less a government powered project. Eastern retail business upbeat as Capital Alliance, Anambra unveil Onitsha Mall Posted in Retail, Fast food & Food service NIGERIA - Retail business in the eastern part of Nigeria is in upward momentum as African Capital Alliance (ACA), a leading private equity investment firm in Nigeria, in collaboration with Anambra State Government are perfecting arrangements to open a retail mall in Onitsha by the second quarter of 2015. Known as Onitsha Mall, the retail outlet which would be anchored by Shoprite, a well-known South African retail brand that currently dominates retail business in Nigeria will contain about 51 stores of various sizes. Construction work on the mall has reached 64 percent completion and would be 100 percent completed before the proposed opening date of 2015. Research has shown that Onitsha is the fifth fastest growing city in the world with the biggest market in West Africa known as ‘Onitsha Main Market’. It is the economic nerve centre and the gateway to the eastern part of Nigeria. It is known to be a major commercial city in the South-East Nigeria, and according to the promoters of the mall, these were part of the reasons they chose to situate the multi-million naira project in Onitsha. Also, Onitsha Mall will offer a serene shopping experience to retailers and customers with features such as 12,100 square meters of net lettable space; 24 hours electricity and security; over 500 parking bays; six local and international restaurants; central air conditioning; ATM gallery and an average of five stores reserved for banks. According to the developer, the lucrative business environment, which provides huge investment opportunities for investors, is another major reason for building Onitsha Mall that would be the first of its kind in the city. Obi Nwogugu, representative of African Capital Alliance, told those who attended the 0nitsha Mall Retailers Forum held in Lagos recently that the vision of Anambra State government and ACA for the Onitsha Mall was to build an infrastructure that would attract private capital into the state. Nwogugu, who noted that Anambra State was ranked second in telecommunications disposable income and highest in commercial and microfinance banks branches in the Eastern Nigeria, also said that the city recently attracted investment worth $120 million from South African Breweries, which is currently planning to double its investment due to the success of the business. “Onitsha Mall is a development project sponsored by African Capital Alliance and the Anambra State Government while Diamond Bank is the debt financier of the project. In terms of safety of lives and property, the state has recently received a significant investment in security equipment and personnel in the city, which created an enabling environment for business to thrive,” Nwogugu added. Explaining the basis for the construction work, Chuka Okoye, project manager, Pro-M Limited, who stated that the construction work currently being handled by Akiota Works Limited, which took over from the former contractor, Technics Construction Company, assured that the project would be completed before the opening date of May 2015. He slated February 1, 2015 as the proposed date for all the tenants to start occupying their spaces as the beneficial occupation shall be granted to tenants to commence their shop fit-outs, which is expected to take 30 to 60 days before the opening date. “The mall, which would be managed by Broll Nigeria Limited on completion, is located at the old Anambra Broadcasting building at Park Street, off Awka Road in Onitsha. The road leading to Park Street has been dualised and resurfaced with traffic lights by the state government to accommodate the volume of human and vehicular traffic on the road at the take-off of the mall,” Okoye explained. Such a colorful and beautiful people. Anambra Amaka!
|
Onitsha mall appears to be the biggest and most beautiful in the SE. It is quite huge with massive parking bay! Obiano is set to commission the completed project jointly developed by the Anambra State government and Africa Capital Alliance. The mall will host Shoprite, Mr. Price, Woolworth, 5 Continental Restaurants/Fastfoods, Banking Halls, Cineplex/Games, Flight ticketing firms etc. It is a one-stop-shopping mall East of the Niger.

Anambra is truly the light of the nation, they play politics without bitterness. |
Ikengawo:Onitsha has improved alot in road networks, parks and quite livable with lots of plazas, eateries and mall hosting shoprite, movies, entertainment etc. Onitsha Business School has been established among other corporate organisations. Raddison Blu is setting up their 5star hotel in the city. A lot more is taking place in the city unreported. |
Op remove Anambra from the sub-list of ongoing construction of flyovers and put it among the states with flyovers already as the state has uncountable flyovers from Onitsha to Awka! Also put Enugu as it has so many flyovers too. |
eleojo23:It is not but Anambra has the capacity to be a country of it's own. Niger Delta Youths were sent to Anambra because the state has great human and capital resources. |
It is clear that Nigerian economy is moving fast beyond oil economy. Kudos to Anambra for setting the pace. |
