You know how much we love to snoop around esp. when we notice that all is not well between parties that used be BFFs. You see, all through Dolapo Oni's wedding to Adebite Sijuwade, there was no congratulatory message from her former boss, Mo Abudu, neither did she attend any of the events (trad. wedding in Lagos and white wedding in London). We began asking questions from friends who knew what was happening and we were told the true story! About four months ago, Television sweetheart, Dolapo Oni called it quits with Ebony TV and started her own talk show called “The Marcy Project” which airs on DSTV’s Africa Magic. Dolapo Oni started gracing the Nigerian screens as co-presenter of MNet’s TV show, ‘53 extra’ before she moved on to EbonyLife TV as co-host on Mo Abudu’s daily talk show, ‘Moments with Mo’. They got so close and became like sisters. “I’ve always wanted to have my own talk show and I know I wanted something that would be true to myself as well as show a different side of me that people rarely get to see. The idea came about in December 2013 and I told myself my show would be on air by 2015" Dolapo Oni revealed when she quit Ebony-life to start her own show..but now we know what went wrong! According to reliable sources, there’s more to Marcy Dolapo Oni‘s departure from EbonyLife TV. When Dolapo Oni joined Mo Abudu, it was well understood by all parties that she, eventually, wanted to do her own show, which was one of the reasons she wanted to leave 53 Extra. Therefore, her joining the ‘Moments with Mo’ was to ease her passage into her own place as a solo TV show host. Problems started however when The Marcy Project, Dolapo’s own TV show was ready and she couldn’t get a spot for it on EbonyLife TV. Mo Abudu rejected the show. Why? "She did not think that the time was right for Dolapo to start her own show" this reliable source said. As a result, Dolapo felt betrayed as she had been made promises before (leaving) abandoning 53 Extra. Subsequently, she took her show, The Marcy Project, to Africa Magic and found acceptance there. This move angered Mo Abudu so much that she fired Dolapo Oni over the phone. Yes, over the phone. "Mo was angry that she took the show to Ebony Life TV's direct rival, Africa Magic. She saw Dolapo’s move as an indication that she does not know where her bread is buttered. She would have preferred Dolapo to have waited until ‘Moments with Mo’ returned to its pre-EbonyLife TV respected status and then perhaps branch out on her own." the source revealed. There you have it! http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/10/for-love-of-dolapo-oni-and-former-boss.html

When President Buhari wore a suit for his first campaign shoot last year, some Nigerians were quick to mock him while others praised him for the dapper look. According to Rotimi Amaechi, that's the first and probably the last time Buhari will dress that way! Speaking at the red summit gala which held at the Harbor point, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island Lagos last night, the APC lord told a story of how he got Red media (Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo) to handle the election campaign for Buhari. "Buhari said to me, do we have to do all these paparazzi, Amaechi you know my nature but i said him, sir you have to wear this suit so that Nigerians can see the handsome side of you. Wee had to convince him and then he finally obliged us and today, that photoshoot is still the best he has ever had. We were able to present the other side of the president that most people did not know...most peeps didn't know he can laugh but we brought out that side of him. On behalf of the campaign and Buhari, i thereby appreciate Debola Williams and Chude Jideonwo for their hard work and achieving a feat that many thought they couldn't achieve. When i gave the job to them, I took a risk. Why? There was a company from America, another from Britain that wanted to do this job and handle the campaign for us but i wanted these young men to do it and i was ready to take the risk, fail or succeed with them and look where we are. Yes God won the election for us but used them and Nigerians." he said. http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/10/how-rotimi-amaechi-debola-williams.html

So last night, Comedian Julius Agwu took a swipe at the Nigerian Pastors that tired to convince Nigerians to vote for former president Goodluck Jonathan in the past election. While addressing guests at the red summit gala which held at the Harbor point, off Ahmadu Bello way, Victoria Island Lagos last night, he had this to say. "I know how many Nigerian Pastors are paid to pray for GEJ to make sure he came back as president, but their prayers were not answered." He further said "Moreover, why was it mostly witches association that were endorsing him? The so-called assocation of withes and wizards kept saying orishiriishi, claiming that GEJ is their man and that he will be the president but God pass them" Moving on, he said "Please help tell president Buhari not to joke with this God that got him to the throne. As a matter of fact, we need to discard the first verse of the National anthem and stick with just the second stanza. We have been singing 'Arise o compatriots' for many years now but the compatriots are not arising biko...let us stick with stanza two 'O God of creation, direct our noble cuase'...let us be lik the Americans whose theme reads 'In God we trust'. That theme is really working for them despite all the bad things they do" Rotimi Amaechi, Fayemi, Oby Ezekwesili were some of the dignitaries on seat while Julius cracked the jokes. http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/10/julius-agwu-mocks-nigerian-pastors.html

The lovebirds met in middle school ages ago and are getting married next year! All four of their parents have different cultural backgrounds (Edo, Igbo, Yoruba & American) so they had a brilliant idea of paying homage to all the cultures on their engagement shoot. “The first part of the shoot was all about how it started and so we made a trip to Miller Grove Middle School. This was an amazing shoot and a classic example how you can incorporate different aspects of “you” into an engagement shoot. Check out some images from the day and a little about the couple. http://weddinginnigeria.com/edo-igbo-yoruba-america-this-nigerian-couples-culture-inspired-pre-wedding-photo-shoot-is-amazing-photos/

Sometime last year, Nollywood Susan Peters showed off an engagement ring on her Instagram page. Turns out today is her big wedding day! She wedded her Dutch lover at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos. Susan had said in a recent interview that she liked being in the news for her outstanding kind of dresses, but that she's a private person and loves keeping her personal life private. This definitely was a well kept secret till it happened. See more photos http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/10/actress-susan-peters-got-marries-today.html

Getting engaged is an incredibly joyful milestone but many couples can get overwhelmed by wedding checklists and all of the decisions that lie ahead of them. Here are a few pointers to help make the engagement period as enjoyable and stress-free as possible: 1. Embrace the moment! So many couples rush into planning mode right away without taking the time to bask in the just-engaged glow. Regardless of whether you are planning a 12-week or a 12-month engagement, you have time, and you only get to experience this once. So breathe. 2. Set boundaries. When you do start the planning process, it is important that you have a sit-down with all parties involved and discuss the big picture from responsibilities to budget. The biggest piece of advice that I can give is that communication and organization are key. Not only does this help everyone get on the same page, but it also avoids future conflicts. 3. It’s all about you and your beloved. Period. Too many couples that I speak with say they lose sight of this and get wrapped up in trying to make everyone else happy but themselves. Remember this is your wedding. As harsh as it may sound, you have to come to terms with the fact that you aren’t going to please everyone and setting boundaries as mentioned above can help. 4. Prioritize. Make a list of the things that are important to you and rank them. Working on a limited budget? Splurge on the things that matter and figure out how to save with things that don’t. Obsessing over a designer dress? Then see if a friend can make you an amazing playlist, so you don’t have to pay for a DJ. A flower aficionado? Make sure your florist can re-use flowers from the ceremony in the reception. 5. Photographs last a lifetime. Even though I said it’s all about you, arguably the third most important person at your wedding is the photographer. Choosing the right person to capture your special day can be daunting, so make sure you do not only ask to view multiple weddings they have shot, but also ask for referrals. In addition, it’s helpful to take engagement photos before the big day so that the photographer gets a sense of you as a couple. One more tip: make a list of the shots you absolutely want, so nobody misses a thing. http://weddinginnigeria.com/five-must-read-tips-for-newly-engaged-couples/ |

Aww, this is really cute..as a matter of fact, we think it's the cutest and most romantic surprise proposal so far ![]() Earlier this year, a lady went to hide under the table after her boo threw her a surprise proposal (HERE), well, it appears history has repeated itself again. This time, the lady in question hid under the table, cried, OMG-ed, knelt down, placed her hands on her head and more.... Pelumi Dada and Karo Atumu (both graduates of Redeemers' University) got engaged over the weekend during their 'university's alumni Homecoming' in Ede, Ogun state. He called out from the midst of the crowd, gave a beautiful speech of how they she has been his sweetheart for years...and boom, popped the question. And oh, she said YES after all the drama ...congrats to the lovebirds! You can watch video http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/09/surprise-proposal-another-bride-to-be.html?

Sometimes couples opt to have 1 or 2 members of their wedding party act as the MC’s for the evening, while others like to designate someone who is special to them, but who isn’t a part of the wedding party itself. Well for Vincent and Bisola’s wedding which held last weekend, actor Femi Adebayo played the Emcee. http://weddinginnigeria.com/wedding-reception-this-is-what-happens-when-actor-femi-adebayo-is-your-emcee/

Beach wedding one Aww, is this Nigeria’s craziest wedding yet! Ronke and Lawson broke all the rules when they got married several weekends ago. It was indeed a unique Nigerian Wedding! These two crazy people fell in love, decided to get married without the usual pomp and pageantry associated with weddings in Nigeria. The event held at a beach in Lagos on a warm Sunday afternoon and there were only 8 people in attendance (the photographer) included. They exchanged their vows (very apt ones if you ask me) and also exchanged totems (not wedding rings). His totem for her was a Golden Neck piece! And her token for him was a pair of socks (he disliked them prior to the wedding and he didn’t have any on as the officiant helped her put them on him). The event was over in minutes and they were ‘husband and wife’. Now they are happily married yet their purses didn’t bleed much in the process. http://weddinginnigeria.com/sixty-seconds-8-guests-no-rings-nigerian-couple-break-all-rules-in-lagos-beach-wedding-photos/

Editor’s note: This is a story @Blacknosee shared with me last year but somehow I never got around to publishing it. Today, he is celebrating his wedding anniversary and to celebrate with them, I am putting this out – to encourage someone out there and to, hopefully, send a message to both ladies and gentlemen of this generation and many others to come.https://ohluwamayowa./2015/09/10/true-love-story-the-pretty-banker-who-married-a-danfo-driver/

Ladies, how would you rather react when your soulmate eventually pops the ‘will you marry’ question? The other day, a lady ran away at first impulse when she sighted the ring, but this time, the lady in question, Afaa chose to apply make up on her face first ![]() You see, Afaa and Percy will be getting married in December but they have been gracious enough to share their beautiful love and proposal story with us, enjoy! Their love story Afaa and Percy have got a Never say Never love story, that is, fight for what you believe in and go for what you want, yea go for it. Percy first spotted Afaa in September 2013, at Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja when she was returning to Port- Harcourt after attending her sister’s law call to bar ceremony in Abuja. In that moment, Percy said to himself, this is my wife but he could not foster the courage to walk up to her so he just sat there and admired her from a distance till her flight was announced and she walked away to board the plane. Fast forward to June 2014, he attended a party with that same colleague of his and while the party was ongoing, Afaa walked in with her twin sister and a friend. Percy quickly rushed over to her with his friend by his side and he ensured that the latter introduced him to her. Trying to play nice, Percy offered to get her drinks but she turned down the request, he also asked for a dance but got turned down too. Well this time, Percy was determined and bold so he kept pushing. When it seemed he wasn’t getting attention, he went down on his knees and pleaded saying “Dear Afaa, I won’t leave til I have your number and permission to call you”. The act made her smile. However, she promised to give him the phone number another day, that is, when next she saw him. After a while she walked out of the party and got into her car ready to drive off, only for Percy to show up in front of the car saying “you will hit me today if you don’t give me your number.” Afaa was like “Dude, are you this desperate…” It was really funny but Afaa’s twin sister persuaded her to give him the phone number. It wasn’t until he got the number that he let her drive off.Soon, the phone calls began. Afaa wasn’t totally receptive but she picked up the calls and spoke to him not withstanding, she kept posting him until one day when she randomly decided to meet with him and have dinner. The dinner was like magic, they clicked, they chatted all through the evening…they went on multiple dates afterwards and soon became inseparable. Five months after, on the 13th of December Percy proposed to her at a close knit inter-family get together night which held at her elder brother’s house. He proposed with a long heartfelt speech, beautiful roses, 18k diamond ring with blue rubies. Afaa who was the only one that didn’t see the proposal coming (He planned it with everyone at the get together) was stunned. She blinked and immediately called her twin sister to help put up a little make up on her face. “I don’t want to look plain in the photos” she said. Everyone burst into laughter. After the make up was done, she smiled, accepted the ring and said Yes! Aww. http://weddinginnigeria.com/meet-the-bride-to-be-who-chose-to-apply-make-up-on-her-face-before-accepting-her-mans-proposal/

Please help me, i need to know what people in my shoes would do if this had happened to them. I had a great love story. Yes, it seemed then. The man came like a rolling stone and hit me so so badly and left me. He felt his pre determined action was accomplished, while l was left nearly a fool. We met through my close friend. He saw my picture on her Display picture on BBM and pressured her to link him to me. That was how we got talking. Before you know it he asked me to be his woman. I was glad because l loved him. The attractions was not spontaneous. It grew against all odds. People cautioned me saying he looked more of a playboy only ready to break hearts. I confronted him with all these things. To my surprise, he did not hide who he was. To him, that was his past. He had ran away completely from it. I admired his 'sincerity' and 'honesty'. And l felt that truly many of us had had an ugly past, and when you say you have come to Jesus, and you are seen behaving like a follower of this Christ, who then can condemn you? This made me grow to like him more. Do l say like? I think he swept me off my feet. Then he proposed in a dramatic way and we had a beautiful introduction between our two families. Even the way it was packaged, it was more like a wedding ceremony, that you would not expect another. But that was the way he wanted it. He was traveling out of the country, and would start processing my papers from then, so l was made to believe. I am 25years old but God, l have seen deceits. I have experienced broken heart. Despite the fact that l prayed. I thought l prayed and received direction. However, the happenings after the introduction proved otherwise. I now got to understand that he asked for the elaborate introduction ceremony because he was applying for a marriage visa in UK and he needed pictorial evidence. I learnt he had already got a fake wedding certificate but needed me to do an appearance for him. His intention was that once he was out of the country he would cut off all communications between us and leave me waiting endlessly for him. God is gracious. My supposed fiancé was expected to process the traveling documents for both of us, but he had gone to the embassy for the interview. Yet he kept me from knowing this. Now, it is almost a year after the introduction ceremony, l have not heard any word from him. You would say where are his family members in this? When we were dating, he was the one coming to meet me. We stayed in different but close states. He knew all my family but l only got to know his own on the introduction day. One friend of his who said he did not want to hide anything from me because he sensed l am too decent to be treated in this manner, had to open up to me on many things. He confessed most of them, on getting to know me felt bad that such was being done to me. One of them was the way my lover tried setting me up, using another friend of his to toast me and work on me to see if l would fall for the ploy. He wanted to use that as a strong reason for leaving me, that he caught me with another man. He failed. But l am no more engaged. My parents are not into the know now. They felt we were passing through a phase as we have some irreconcilable issue we are still working on. Please tell me. How do l tell family members and friends who witnessed the ceremony and those who had heard about it that l have been left unprotected. No one to call my own. That l am starting again. But, is it not too soon? The whole thing looks like a bad dream? Let me quickly wake up from it, Lord. The shame! This is my true story. I am devastated that l could fall for a 'sucker'. I was blind and deaf to all signals received prior our introduction. Now, l am alone. Where do l go? I can not stand to hear,'So you have seen what we were telling you.' Help me. http://www.kemifilani.com/2015/09/i-had-great-love-story-but-it-turned.html |
