Politics / Gboyega Oyetola Presents N152.7b 2019 Osun Budget by Aminat508(f): 6:16pm On Dec 27, 2018
@AMILOADED

Gboyega Oyetola on Thursday presented his 2019 fiscal plan to the House of Assembly.

The overall N152.7 billion ‘Budget of Hope’ is lower than the N179.2billion budgeted for the outgoing year.

The governor said he would build on the giant strides of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Oyetola also prioritised agriculture, healthcare and provision of water in the rural area.

The governor told lawmakers to the admiration of those present that “the era of payment of modulated salaries and allowances and other benefits has become a thing of the past.” He added: “Workers and pensioners are now collecting their full salaries.”

The state is expecting an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N36 billion at “a minimum N3billion monthly” out of the projected total revenue of N150billion. The rest will come from other sources including the Federation Account, grants, aids, investment and others.

The fiscal plan is heavy on the side of capital projects which got N91.5billion –65 per cent of estimated expenditure.

Education was allocated N10.4 billion or 11.36 per cent of the planned spending.

On the sector, Oyetola said: “We shall review the school curriculum to achieve value reorientation and to create a sense of worth belonging in our youths. Consequently, History shall be re-introduced in our secondary schools while Civic Education shall be expanded to incorporate the Omoluabi ethos.

“Focused-attention shall also be given to technical and vocational education to inculcate relevant skills for the youth to make them job creators rather than job seekers.

“Our Administration remains irrevocably committed to the joint ownership and co-funding of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and the College of Health Sciences, Osogbo with the Oyo State Government.”

On healthcare, emphasis will be on Health insurance “to provide effective, quality and affordable services to all and sundry.”

The Health Insurance is a contributory scheme in which the government will pay three per cent while the worker will contribute 1.5 per cent.

There is also a plan to revitalise and equip 332 Primary Health Care (PHC) centres – one in each ward - and 57 secondary health care centres across the three senatorial districts.

The Ede Headworks water scheme is to be rehabilitated to enhance supply of portable water to at least 12 local government areas.

The Ilesa water project whose work restarted with the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari, is to get full attention.

The governor also pledged to give utmost attention to agriculture to generate jobs for the youths and to empower farmers who constitute 70 per cent of the population.

Partnerships with the federal government, development partners and agencies are expected to give the needed boost to the sector.

Oyetola said: "Given the committed leadership this administration is bringing to the table, and the unwavering following, we have been getting from the citizenry, the state of Osun is poised to set the pace in economic independence.

"We shall put strategic in place to further promote food security, employment and create wealth by investing heavily in agriculture, mining, infrastructure, commerce and industry, education and technology.

"We shall also introduce creative and prudent management of our resources, block leakages, and eliminate wastages. We will assemble the brightest of the best minds to drive our policies as we are committed to provide equitable opportunities and people-oriented governance.

"We are committed to consolidating on the various ongoing projects and programmes by delivering on the continuous investment in education, healthcare and social welfare, unwavering attention to security of lives and property, people-oriented and good governance system that founded on zero tolerance for corruption.”

Traditional rulers and federal lawmakers from the state including Senator Sola Adeyeye and House of Representatives members Ajibola Famurewa, Yinka Ajayi, Mrs Ayo Omidiran and former Speaker Adejare Bello attended the budget presentation session.

House Speaker Najeem Salaam promised a speedy consideration of the proposal as requested by the governor as soon as the House resumes from recess on January 14, 2019

Education / Meet Michael Olufisayo Ologunde, LAUTECH New Vice Chancellor by Aminat508(f): 10:55am On Dec 08, 2018
@AmILOADED

Among the eleven candidates that applied and contested for the post of the Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso, Amiloaded.com can authoritatively report that Professor Michael Olufisayo Ologunde has emerged as the substantive replacement for the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Suleiman Gbadegesin whose tenure expires in February 2019.

Prof. Ologunde, a native of Ajagunlase in Ola Oluwa local government of Osun State, a professor of Food Chemistry and a former head of department of food science and engineering defeated ten other notable professors; six from within LAUTECH community and four from other universities, among which are Prof. Timothy Adebayo (Agronomy department), Prof. Idowu Adetunji (Agronomy department), Prof. Ismail Oladosu (Agricultural Economics & Extension), Prof. Femi Fadiora (Anatomy) and one Prof. Joseph Abayomi.

The process that led to the emergence of Ologunde was through a painstaking selection mechanism that involves declaration of intention, collection of form, submission of Curriculum Vitae and proposed vision for the university, Computer Based Test and oral interview which was conducted within the premises of the University of Ibadan to avoid undue interference by various pressure groups, among the panel selected to conduct the interview were members of the governing council professors and academic administrators from within and neighboring universities, ASUU, NASU, SSANU, Alumni Association. In all, Ologunde emerged overall best in all the stages, coming distant second was Adetunji who came third from documents and papers slighted by Amiloaded.com

Going by the joint ownership of the institution by both Oyo and Osun States, the post of the VC is rotational. Gbadegesin, a Professor of Urban and Regional planning is a native of Oyo town in Oyo state is rounding up his tenure as the representative of Oyo while Ologunde will fill the Osun gap for the next five years. While Governor Abiola Ajimobi will now act as the visitor to the university.

According to tradition, the governing council of LAUTECH forwarded the names of the best three candidates for both governors for approval, Amiloaded.com confirmed from a reliable source close to the seat of government in Oyo State that Senator Abiola Ajimobi has signed approval the name of Micheal Ologunde which was equally forwarded to Mr. Gboyega Oyetola who has equally counter signed the document with a directive for immediate announcement of the newly elected VC by the university management.

Amiloaded.com reliably gathered that this will be first time in the history of the 28year old institution whereby an home grown Professor, somebody who works within the LAUTECH community will be selected and appointed as the helmsman of the citadel of learning. Professors Olusegun Oke, Late Akinola Salau, Benjamin Adeleke, Moshood Nasir and Suleiman Gbadegesin were all external administrators that have managed as sole administrators or vice chancellors.

Education / Maryam Kikelomo Adegbite Becomes UNIOSUN Overall Best Student With 4.91 GPA by Aminat508(f): 4:22pm On Nov 24, 2018
@AMILOADED

During the last week convocation ceremony of the Osun State University, Osogbo, the school Registrar revealed that Miss Maryam Kikelomo Adegbite of the Department of Microbiology bagged the overall best student in the university for the 2016/2017 academic session.

This sparked a wide jubilation among friends family, classmates and indigenes of insignia who were at the event.

In an exclusive interview with Amiloaded.com, Miss Adegbite expressed her appreciation to the Almighty God for helping her to achieve the feat and also painstakingly narrated her tough journey on the rough road to success.

Read :

Amiloaded: Have you ever encounter any difficulties during your days in school?

She said" The admission search quest was the first challenge on its own. It took me two and a half years to secure admission after my secondary education since 2011.

What about during your university days?

The most challenging days were during my second year at school (200 level), it took me little time to adjust to the learning processes.

Alhamdulilaah, I passed through hurdles and I was astonished when I had 5.00 GPA for the very first time at 200 level second semester.

Amiloadee: " We learnt that your faculty/department is the most difficult in uniosun, how do you overcome this?

She said"

Yes, in fact, I was almost discouraged about the course during my first year. The senior colleagues discouraged us about the course (Microbiology) and the lecturers. They addressed the lecturers as strict, unapproachable beings and disciplinarians who cant add a mark to a students score but rather fail students.

I told myself back then, 'Maryam you can do it'. My parents were disciplinarian so, meeting with my lecturers wasn't a challenge.

Alhamdulillah, I feel elated to have graduated from that department as I was been trained by disciplinarians who made me realize how essential it was to value due processes rather than shortcuts.

How did you come over all the challenges?

How I overcame it wasn't secretive. I sat down, discovered myself and promised myself to graduate with a CGPA of 4.95 in the Department of Microbiology. All I did was to discover who I was by passing through the self-discovery quest. I discovered my reading & studying strategies. Then, I devised an acronym for myself- P.U.D.H.E (Prayers, Understanding, Determination, Hard work, Extracurricular activities).

The acronym helped me a lot and Alhamdulillah, Allah made it feasible for me. It wasn't by my ease by Allaah's to have graduated with a 4.91 C.G.P.A. after setting a goal of 4.95.

Maryam revealed that she was not a social enthusiast while in school and that all she does was reading and reading most of the times.

Maryam is a doting lady from a lovely family. She's a an easy going being who loves to utilize every golden opportunity of networking and meeting with people.

The 23 year old is from the ancient town Osogbo and hopes to have a better career in the academics.

SDP's Coalition With APC Not For Political Offices But For Welfare Of Osun People - Omisore

@AMILOADED

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the recently held election in Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore has reinstated that the coalition that his party entered with the ruling All Progressives Congress is for the attainment of good governance for the entire people of the state and not for political gains.

Amiloaded gathered that the former deputy governor of the state who made this known on his twitter handle said that the coalition is to ensure prompt payment of workers' arrears, salaries and pensions by the APC led administration.

Recall that Omisore had teamed up with the candidate of the APC (now the governor-elect), Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and his party to win thhe governorship poll.

There had been speculations that that Omisore had been denied the National Assembly ticket and other political offices allegedly promised him by the APC.

But the former senator dismissed the speculations that he entered into an agreement with the ruling party for personal political benefits saying there was no time SDP demanded for any political office from APC.

Rather, the interest of the masses of Osun is utmost in the mind of the SDP and thus the coalition.

Omisore said: "Our coalition is not about negotiation for political offices like Senator, member House of Representatives, member House of Assembly or Commissioners and advisers, or board members but centeres on good governance, prompt payment of workers' salaries and other things that can make life meaningful for the entire people of Osun."
