Crime › Man Stages Fake Accident, Fleeces Woman Of N1.2m Hospital Bill In Osun by Aminat508(op): 9:27am On Dec 16, 2019 |
One AbdulSobur Katayeyanjue has been remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre by an Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N1.2m from a woman, Oluremi Lawal.
The 23-year old Katayeyanjue appeared before Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara on four counts of pretence, fraud, stealing and conspiracy.
Katayeyanjue and others yet to be apprehended allegedly perpetrated the crime sometime in June this year. They were said to have staged fake accident and asked the complainant to spend the sum of N1.2m to treat her online lover, Olamide Adegoke.
Responding to questions from the court, the complainant, Oluremi, explained that she met one Olamide Adegoke on the social media and they engaged in a relationship.
She said not long after, she received a call from Katayeyanjue, who informed her that her lover was involved in a motorcycle accident and needed money to settle the hospital bills.
Oluremi stated, “I met Adegoke online and he was pretending to be caring and loving. Not long after, I received a call that he was involved in a motorcycle accident and that he needed money for treatment.
Person, who called me, happens to be Katayeyanjue, who pretended to be a police officer from the Adigbe Police Station in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He told me that he checked Adegoke’s phone and found a number saved with ‘My love’ and that the number turned out to be mine.”
The police prosecutor, John Idoko, said Katayeyanjue conspired with others at large in June 2019 in Osogbo to commit the crime.
He explained that the defendant obtained the sum of N1.2m from Oluremi on the pretext that he would spend it on the treatment of the accident victim.
The offences, according to him, contravened sections 422, 419, 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Voll. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence counsel, A. O. Emmanuel, said his client had been granted an administrative bail by the police.
Magistrate Ayilara, however, directed that Emmanuel should file a former bail application for his client.
He remanded the defendant in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter till January 17, 2020, for hearing. Source: https://amiloaded.com/2019/12/man-stages-fake-accident-fleeces-woman-of-n1-2m-hospital-bill-in-osun.html |

@AMILOADEDNo fewer than 17 cows and two sheep have been killed by a thunderstorm in Iba, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun state.
Amiloaded gathered that the incident happened on Friday at Gaa Eleesun, a community mostly inhabited by Fulani herdsmen in Iba.
The thunderstorm, it was gathered, struck at around 6:00pm and left some residents of the community hospitalised due to the shock of the thunder.
It was gathered that the incident has caused panic among residents of the community.
Some of the locals revealed that the strange incident occurred when some Fulani herdsmen had already returned from pasturing.
Speaking on the development, the leader of Gaa Eleesun community, Chief Jimoh Soliu lamented the loss of the cows and sheep
Soliu said, “we (Fulani herdsmen) had just returned from pasturing when thunder started striking. We ran into the houses leaving our cows outside. But to our shock, we found 17 cows and two sheep dead outside.
” This is devastating for us because since we have been staying in this community, this strange occurrence has never happened.”
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, has sympathised with the affected Fulani herdsmen.
The governor, while on a solidarity visit to the area, assured the affected Fulani herdsmen of his support.

The governor said: “We are indeed sad about the unfortunate incident.
“Lightning is a natural phenomenon that we have no power or control over. The traders who suffered this loss are part of us, not strangers. They have lived here for decades and I commend them for their exemplary contributions to peace in Iba community.
“I want to assure them of my support and indeed government’s support at a time like this.” Source: https://amiloaded.com/2019/11/thunderstorm-kills-several-cows-in-osun-oyetola-sympatises-with-fulani-herdsmen.html |

Politics › Minimum Wage: Buhari Has Scammed You, PDP Tells Nigerian Civil Servants by Aminat508(op): 10:38am On Apr 22, 2019 |
AMILOADED
The Peoples Democratic Party has described the minimum wage recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari as mere propaganda, deceit and scamming of the Nigerian Civil servants.
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Opposition Party, PDP, Prince Diran Odeyemi disclosed this in a statement he released to the press recently.
Prince Odeyemi argued that the Nigerian workforce deserved more than the N30,000 minimum wage considering the skyrocket exchange rate of Dollars when compared to that of the administration of President Good Jonathan.
He said workers may not known that President Buhari had deceived and shortchanged them by signing into law the new minimum wage, which he described as being ridiculously low if compared with the N18,000 approved during the government of erstwhile President Jonathan.
According to him, "I was amused at the wide jubilation and undeserved publicity being accorded the so-called minimum wage which he described as "ridiculously low if compared with the N18,000 ($122) minimum wage approved during the reign of President Goodluck Jonathan under the PDP administration."
"The exchange rate of US$ dollars to the Naira in 2010 was N147 to $1 which then translated N18,000 to be $122.
"if the APC wants to be honest with themselves and the sufferings of the Nigerian civil servants, what was expected of the ruling party was to just multiply $122 by the current exchange rate of N360 to $1 which would have given the civil servants a minimum salary of $122 x N360 which is N43,920 that they truly deserved."
In essence, Prince Odeyemi insisted that "the Federal government has deliberately cheated the Nigerian civil servants with not less that $19 or N13,920."
He further argued that "these are the reasons why PDP went the whole hug traversing the length and breadth of this country during the presidential campaign with assurances that the Naira was too weak with the lowest purchasing power ever in the history of our dear nation since the inception of APC administration on May 29, 2015."
Odeyemi, however said that it was a pity that their votes were not allowed to count.
However, Odeyemi assured Nigerians that their mandate that was freely given to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will be restored at the tribunal with the spate of revelations and details of riggings during the presidential election that are coming out in their droves across the country. Politics › Army's Bridge Construction Promise Will Unite Kuta, Ede Communities by Aminat508(op): 7:11am On Apr 20, 2019 |
@AMILOADED
Aside the economic prosperity that the completion of the age-long bridge that bounded Ede and Kuta communities in Osun state would midwife, this territorial connection would deepen the unity that has existed between the indigenes of these communities, Amiloaded has learnt.
Hitherto, work had commenced on the over 70 years old bridge but due to lack of sensitivity by government, it has been abandoned. But now, the bridge will be completed and commissioned for use. Thanks to the Nigerian Army under the leadership of Army Staff, lieutenant General Tukur Buratai who promised to deploy the agency's engineers with a view to bringing it to completion.
To this end, the joys of the traditional rulers of Ede and Kuta now know no bound. The monarchs have hailed lieutenant General Buratai, for promising to complete the construction of an age-long bridge.
The monarchs who led the 12-member-engineering team of the Nigerian Army to the bridge at the boundary of Kuta and Ede on Friday, commended the army chief for his developmental move to further cement the relationship between the two communities.
Speaking with newsmen in his palace, His Royal Majesty, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun 111, Olowu of Kuta land, said the construction of the over 70-year-old bridge, which linked the two communities, had been started by the forefathers of the two communities through contribution among themselves.
The monarch who disclosed that he had sent a compassionate appeal on behalf of the people of the two communities to the Nigerian Army, stated that the visit of the engineers from the military zone is a good omen.
He said the completion of the bridge will not only boost the economy of Ede and Kuta, but would also increase the Internally Generated Revenue of Osun state.
"If the bridge is done, the economy impact can not be over-emphasized. The IGR of the state will also improve because human and goods could be moved easily.
"Our forefathers that started the bridge knew the economy importance before embarking on contributions among themselves. We thank the Chief of Army Staff for the move to complete the bridge. Military are not only fighting insurgency, they are opening up access.
Also lauding the leadership of the Nigerian Army, the Timi of Ede land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, said the force has taken step to make 'unforgettable' history in the duo communities.
He assured that the bridge would not cause any conflict between the two towns, rather, it would further promote cordial relationship between them.
The monarch who explained that the bridge has been the boundary for Ede and Kuta, noted that it would be impossible to have land dispute because there is no land to fight over.
He lauded Olowu Kuta for using the relationship he enjoyed with the army chief to facilitate development that would be of benefit to the coming generation.
Meanwhile, a member-elect of the House of Representatives, to represent Iwo federal constituency, Mr. Amobi Yinusa, explained that several attempts have been made with series of letters written to the federal government since the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, but all to no avail.
He commended Oba Olowu Kuta for his intervention, noting that the bridge would be a benefit for, not only Ede and Kuta, but all other communities in the area, including Iwo. Source: https://www.amiloaded.com/2019/04/how-nigerian-armys-bridge-construction.html

Politics › Zone NASS Offices According To Geopolitical Zones, Groups Advises APC Leadership by Aminat508(op): 10:14am On Mar 27, 2019 |
A pressure group Justice Advocacy Group has advised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to give political offices in the 9th Assembly to reflect regional balancing.
In a statement, on Monday by the coordinator of Justice Advocacy Group Mr. Akintunde Lawal, the body said Nigeria cannot afford a repeat of the feud that characterized the 8th assembly where the leadership of the National Assembly and the executive could not work together in the interest of the nation.
“Now that APC has won the elections, the critical issues should be how the APC will deliver to the electorates the dividends of democracy.
So what the party leaders need to do is to allocate key offices to respect geopolitical sensitivity and standing among geopolitical zones,” he said.
Arguing further Lawal said “we should guide against the crisis that characterized the 8th assembly.
The In coming Nigerian legislature can not afford any unnecessary feisty political relationship with the executive and to forestall this, the APC leadership must do what is right.
There must be justice and fairness as enshrined in the constitution of the party and Nigerian constitution”
“As it is now, the North West has the President while the South West has the Vice President and the National Leader of the APC leaving Four Zones bare.
So it is incumbent on the party to reflect political balancing in considering the leadership of the 9th Assembly.
All the zones must be considered on the basis of equity as enshrined in the APC constitution.
Nigerian Constitution 1999(as ammended) Section 14: Sub Section 1;1c;3 & 4 and the
ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS CONSTITUTION (2014) AS AMMENDED - THE PREAMBLE -ARTICLE 7;sub (i); (ii); (ix) (xii)
Doing otherwise would be courting crisis in the coming Assembly,” Lawal said.
He noted that ceding the positions to the appropriate zones “would not amount to sacrificing competence but strengthening the foundation of democracy in the country.
It is important that every geopolitical zone in the country has a sense of belonging,” stressing further that politics “also recognizes the number of votes and therefore every zone must be recognized on the basis of their contributions to the party”.
In the just concluded Presidential election the North West APC comprising seven states produced 5, 995, 651 representing 72.45% of the votes cast; North East comprising six states produced 3,238,783 votes representing 74.36%; North Central comprising six dates produced 2,465,599 votes representing 54.92%; South West comprising six states produced 2,036,450 votes representing 53.41%; South East comprising five states produced 403, 968 votes representing 19.26% and South South comprising six states produced 1,051,396 votes representing 32.01%.
Lawal however warned that “if APC goes to the contest i.e election of principal officers in the National Assembly) with a divided house, it will be detrimental not only to the party but the 9th Assembly.
It must be noted that a divided APC will be very vulnerable and the opposition parties can spring surprises during the elections yet again suggesting that the APC would not have allowed experience to be the best teacher.
President Buhari and the leadership of the party will do well to consider the implications of a repeat of the scenario of the last four years.
Nigerians are watching. Source: https://www.amiloaded.com/2019/03/zone-nass-offices-according-to_27.html

Olowu of Kuta, His Royal Highness , Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama, has warned unscrupulous politicians to stop politicising the Nigerian Army while playing their "dirty politics."
The traditional ruler gave this warning in a statement issued on Tuesday emphasising that the report from some states in the South South indicated that the military were used to perpetuate violence on the innocent citizens. He said the report was a ruse.
He warned desperate politicians to stop dragging the nation's military into politics because of its dire consequence on the stability and cohesion of Nigeria.
The revered monarch who maintained that the army represents symbols of unity, said the onus is on them to remain apolitical.
He decried a situation whereby some politicians, armed their thugs in military uniform to cause mayhem, saying this was not acceptable.
According to the king, “in the process of using the army to subvert the will of the people, especially in Rivers state, some of them were attacked and hospitalized.
“ We owe our military high regards because of their oath to protect our territorial integrity and if the need arises, lay down their precious lives for the country.
“ We believe our military is apolitical and that explains why the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai promised to set a high power investigative panel to unravel the level of culpability of any disgruntled army officer if any, before , during and after the election.
“ The international observers commended the army during the presidential and national assembly elections two weeks ago for maintaining the peace and displaying professionalism.
“ I also want to sympathize with the traditional rulers in the south south and south east and urge them to continue to be the symbol of peace and unity that the office of traditional institution has conferred on them.” The statement said.
Olowu also called for an endowment fund to take care of the families of those who paid the supreme sacrifice while defending Nigeria.
He asked the Federal Government to provide better funding that is enough to procure modern equipment and to motivate the officers and men to give their best.
Olowu added that “insurgency has become international phenomenon and we must deal with it squarely, otherwise the lives and property of our people will be at risk.
“ All hands must be on deck to support our military as this will boost their morale for more efficiency and optimum performance.” Source: https://www.amiloaded.com/2019/03/stop-politicising-nigerian-army-olowu.html |
