Students of the Ikire campus of the Osun State University have staged a protest in support of one of their lecturers accused of flogging his students in a video that has gone viral.


The protesting 200 level students of the English Department of the university armed themselves with placards refuting allegations made against their lecturer, Dr. sesan that he beat some of them.


According to the protesting students, the video is a dramatic clip made by them of which Dr. Sesan took the role of a lecturer beating some students.


In the video, the lecturer was said to be seen giving the students of the English Department two strokes of cane each. The video had since generated controversy online as the lecturer is being condemned.


But the students denied that the lecturer flogged them saying it was all a drama.


One of the protesting students who identified self as Amodu Aramide told AMILOADED that the video was a drama and that the lecturer did not commit any offence.

The State Government of Osun has declared Thursday and Friday January 25 and 26, 2018 as public holiday.


This, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Sola Fasure, media adviser to the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola made available to Amiloaded correspondent said this is to enable Osun residents prepare for and participate in the Local Government Parliamentary Election scheduled to hold on Saturday January 27, 2018.


The statement quoted Governor Aregbesola as urging the people of the state to enthusiastically exercise their civic duty by participating in this historic parliamentary election into local governments, the first of its kind in any state of Nigeria.


He also admonished them to be orderly, law abiding and conduct themselves peacefully, for the exercise to be successful.


He assured all of the preparedness of the state electoral commission to conduct a hitch-free, credible, free, fair and transparent election that we will all be proud of.


Law enforcement agencies are also ready and put on alert to protect lives and property and prevent breach of the peace and disruption of the election.


Governor Aregbesola encouraged the winners to be magnanimous in victory and the losers to be gallant in defeat.


He wished all a happy holiday and a successful and peaceful election.

Thousands of loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party stormed the PDP office at biket area in Osogbo on Monday for the party's 2018 interdenominational prayer programme.


Leaders and suporters of the PDP faction mobilises themselves from the 30 local government areas of the state to pray for the party's victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election among other requests.


Before the prayers commenced proper, there were dancing and jubilations by the members over what most of them called the imminent defeat of the Rauf Aregbesola led administration and APC in the state.


Hon Soji Adagunodo in his address described the rally as a sign that God has delivered Osun state from the clutch of the APC, describing the huge attendance at the event as a sign that victory is at hand for the PDP.


“We thank God because he has answered our prayers. This year is the year of liberation for the people of Osun state. This is the beginning of the end for the oppressors”, he told the jubilant crowd.


Amiloaded correspondent gathered that In attendance at the rally were eight governorship aspirants of the party alongside top local, state and national leaders.

A 9-year-old girl, John Kehinde has sustained severe burns after her grandmother allegedly set fire on her two hands for allegedly eating the food that belonged to her brother.


According to the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun state, Mr. Babawale, the incident happened on Tuesday around 1:45pm in Erin-Osun in the state.


The victim is said to be a primary three pupil of Africa Elementary school in Erin osun.


According to the Civil defence, it was reported that the grandmother, Mrs John Victoria used fire to burn her grandchild's two hands as punishment for eating the food that belonged to her brother.


Amiloaded gathered that Kehinde was said to have lost her mother at a tender age and has been living with her grandmother at Ila area in Erin osun where the incident happened.


she has been taken to a primary health care at Erin osun for treatment.


The security agency said the case is now at the Human Trafficking and child Abuse department of the NSCDC command osun state.
