Politics / Osun Guber Aspirant, SSG Rejects APC Direct Primary System, Boycotts Election by Aminat508(f): 10:32am On Jul 20, 2018
@AMILOADED

The Secretary to Osun State Government who aspires to contest the governorship seat of the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti has formally withdrawn his participation from today's governorship primaries of the party.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization (MACO), Mr Kayode Agbaje and made available to Amiloaded in Osogbo.

Alhaji Adeoti's decision to withdraw from the race, according to the state,  was in connection with his resolve to abide by a resolution of the Osun West Senatorial District wing of the party dissociating itself from the exercise.

Adeoti described the direct primary as "skewed and jaundiced process already designed to favour an anointed aspirant."

Alhaji Adeoti however informed his teeming supporters that he is still very much in the race to contest and win the governorship election come September 22, 2018.

A 25-year-old man, Olusola Simeon, is currently cooling his heels in the custody of Ilesa prison for beating and inflicting injuries on his girlfriend's face after the latter made efforts to move to his place.

Simeone was convicted on the allegation of assault by an Osogbo Magistrate's Court in Osun state on Tuesday.

According to the prosecution, the convict was furious that Alaba visited his home without informing him, a development that led to a quarrel.

Meanwhile, Simeon, who was arraigned in court by the Police, pleaded guilty to the charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Mr. Jafani Muslim, told the court that the convict battered Alaba at his place in Agowande Area, Osogbo.

He said Simeon committed an offence that contravened section 355 of the criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11,. Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The Magistrate, Mrs Awodele Adedoyin, found Simeon guilty after a summary trial and ordered that he be remanded in Ilesha prison custody till August 3 that the court would pronounce judgement on the matter.

Politics / Lasun Yussuff: I'II Do Anything It Takes To Rescue Osun From Economic Challenges by Aminat508(f): 7:42pm On Jun 20, 2018

2018: I'II Do Anything It Takes To Rescue Osun From Its Economic Challenges, Says Lasun Yussuff

As the September 22 governorship election continues to gather momentum from All fronts in Osun state, a leading player in the contest, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yussuff has declared that he was prepared to do anything it takes to ensure that the state recovers from its present economic challenges.

According to him, not even the many blackmails sponsored against his person would distract or stop him from contesting the number one political seat in the state.

He vowed that nothing would distract him from seeking the mandate of the people of Osun to serve them as the next governor of the state.

In a chat with news men in Lagos, over the weekend, Lasun said regardless of sponsored political blackmails, threats and politically inspired smear campaigns from known elite quarters within and outside the state, to muscle him out of the governorship race of Osun state, he is determined to enlist the support of the masses whose interest and welfare is uppermost to put all that he has to get the peoples mandate to become the next governor.
“I am a man of the people”, the lawmaker declared adding that he has a record of unflinching service to the party as a true progressive and “ready to continue the personal sacrifices to make his people happy.

“Those who are engaging in all sorts of blackmail against me are doing so because of my growing political acceptance anchored on my role as a party man and identity that is known to anybody who knew about our struggles of the past in our dear state.

I am prepared to keep serving my people and they are behind me and I will not abandon them for any blackmail no matter where the threats, smear campaigns or blackmail coming from.
I will not allow the blackmail to distract me from seeking the mandate of the people of Osun state in the next election,” Lasun declared.

The deputy speaker who lamented because of the pursuit of political office, people were prepared to employ any means to pull one down stressing however that those engaged in the pull down syndrome were doing so because “they are afraid of the salient records of commitment to service dedicated to a better life for the people of Osun.

He continued: “look at my track records, I have invested all I have in life in the state. All my investments are in Osun. Where a man's treasure is, there his heart is.

I know some who take whatever they have by way of investments and they situate them elsewhere.

Check my records, I have the people of Osun in my heart and I am ready to do everything possible to take that state out of its present economic challenges”.

Lasun advised all political actors in the state to as a matter of priority “put the interests of the people of Osun at the center of their campaign.

The reason we are seeking to govern is to be able to improve the welfare and well being of the people of the state and that’s exactly why I intend to do when am given the mandate to lead the state”.
Meanwhile, Legislative Writers Association (LWA) have urged the Deputy Speaker not to be distracted by political enemies who are bent on dragging his name in the mud

In a statement by its national coordinator and secretary. Austen Odey and Johnson Eze, the body urged Lasun “not to be distracted in his service to the House of Representatives and indeed Nigerians, asserting that the many projects and interventions using his legislative relevance to attract marks him high among other contenders.

They encouraged the Deputy Speaker to stay focussed and take all the smear campaigns as a source of renewed strength in the pursuit of a better life for people of Osun stressing that “in the fullness of time you will be vindicated”.

Health / Nurse Remanded In Prison For Administering Overdose On Senator Isiaka Adeleke by Aminat508(f): 8:13am On Jun 11, 2018
@AMILOADED

Osun State High Court, sitting in Ede, has remanded in prison Mr. Alfred Aderibigbe, the nurse who treated Senator Isiaka Adeleke before his death.

The nurse was indicted by the coroner inquest led by Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, for allegedly administering overdose drugs on the late Senator.

He was arraigned on Friday, June 8, 2018, and he pleaded not guilty to the murder charge preferred against him.

Magistrate Ayilara-led coroner inquest had recommended the Nurse for prosecution, having established that he administered a drug overdose on the late Senator, thus causing his death.

Aderibigbe, during evidence before the coroner, said the drugs he gave the late Senator were those given to him by Adeleke and not in overdose.

But, the Chief Medical Director of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, said Adeleke died of drug overdose.

The Consultant Pathologist, who carried out the autopsy on Adeleke’s corpse, Dr Taiwo Sholaja, also told the coroner that  he died of drug overdose.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. Soji Oyetayo, informed the court that there was application for bail he has filed and submitted to the Court.

But, the Acting Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary for the state,  Mr. Dapo Adeniji, who led the legal team for Ministry of Justice however opposed the bail application.

Adeniji argued that the accused was just arraigned for the first time in the Court and bail application was filed before the the arraignment. He said that bail application was premature because the accused was not in custody when the bail application was filed.

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi however ordered that the accused should be remanded at the Ilesha prison till 29th June, 2018 when the case will come up for hearing.

Politics / Fallout Of Ekiti APC Primary: Congressman Daramola Congratulates Fayemi by Aminat508(f): 4:37pm On May 13, 2018

A former member of the House of Representatives, Congressman Bimbo Daramola has congratulated Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the winner of the Saturday Governorship Primary of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state.

Daramola, who also contested the party's flag wished the minister well in the poll and urged all Party members to support him to attain victory.

Daramola, in a statement he issued to journalists commended delegates for their peaceful conduct and display of maturity during and after the primary.

Here is Daramola's full text:

"Twenty four months ago,I was compelled to listen to the people who came to share with me the need to rise up to the fresh reality that our situation in our dear state presents.

I am not one given to unbridled ambition or ego, in fact this part of me had made me come across as a relatively complacent person when it has to do with selfish desires or materialism.

So when I looked at the bigger picture implications of a state and people if we continue on the route we are presently then we run the risk of being consumed.

This was the ground rule that propelled me into the race after extensive consultations.

So over the past 24 months characterised by extensive travels, night and day, within and outside of Ekiti, huge deployment of resources and a great team working hard night and day queuing behind a dream and pursuing a vision that is clear and mutually shared.

It's been long and stretching no doubts as it all ended yesterday after the initial aborted process with the emergence of Dr John Kayode Fayemi as candidate of our party.

No doubt eminently qualified and suitable , looking at the thematic thrust of his campaign titled "Reclaiming our Land and Restoring our Values" and comparing it with our theme which is "Restoring our pristine identity". Without doubt one thread runs through.

With his victory, let me join other people to congratulate Dr Kayode Fayemi, and pray for wisdom from above for the task ahead.

Our state and people need a brand new direction as the aspiration of several other aspirants attests to ,regardless of the votes scored they must have sold a dream of a better Ekiti to their supporters, I salute you all, and appreciate your dogged fight all through till yesterday.

May I say I had the great privilege of meeting some of us in the course of this journey, and this journey has offered me many victories, which include the fact that there are many compatriots with whom I share the great dream of better Ekiti, the privilege of walking into this contest as total strangers and the victory of becoming brothers ,uncles and sisters.

I salute you all, my Egbons and Aburos in the college of aspirants, I pray that God will continue to be with us all and may our vision for our state never grow dim or reduced in stature, Ekiti will be needing all these strengths in the days ahead"

May I also use this opportunity to thank immensely and PROFUSELY all the Great Men And Women who identified with our dream, supported me in many ways from prayers through physical involvement to resources, in the coming days I will be visiting you all to express my PROFOUND APPRECIATION. Thanks for believing in us .

To my team :nitoriojoolawa as I spoke to you from my heart amidst that very sombre and profuse display of emotions, I feel you all, your pains and let downs but be rest assured that in the midst of this we can celebrate the victory of fresh and new relationships, ebbing ones bolstered and in these matrix rests unimaginable opportunities , so the vision is not dead.

As I told you please keep our bond stronger and tighter knowing that we Must always have that bond as a victory that we cannot afford to loose, a chain is as strong as it's weakest link it is said.

I salute you all for your sacrifices in many ways, I am irredeemably committed to you all as my first family, you all worked so hard but take this behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining.

I want to urge all party people to look beyond now and all the strain but set eyes on the ultimate challenge and pool efforts together, to get our state back.

Finally, l want to thank my family and friends for putting up with the overwhelming demands of being a part of this race, we have learnt lessons that will remain with me for the rest of my life , and the young generation of emerging leaders also have things to take away from this election.

I Thank Almighty God for the protection and preservation, and that is best captured in one of my favourite songs : "my hope is built on nothing else", far and above all being a part of this race is a further expression of my love for our people and state, and not participating in the circumstance that led to it would have been a loss, but to have in the manner I have over the past 24 months is a victory indeed."

Meanwhile, the ex-federal lawmaker has lauded the efforts of the Governor Tanko Al-Makura led Commitee and the security agencies that were deployed for the primary saying they performed well.

Politics / Osun APC Sweeps Venue Of PDP Rally To 'Cleanse' It by Aminat508(f): 11:12am On May 07, 2018
@AMILOADED

A day after the Peoples Democratic Party held its Southwest rally at the Freedom Park in Osogbo, Osun state capital, leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress have embarked on spiritual cleansing at the venue to ward off any chances of the major opposition party winning at the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The cleasing which was done through sweeping of the venue members of APC in Osun state, led by their chairman, Prince Adelowo Adeniyi attracted the attention of other loyalists of the party who were armed with brooms.

Speaking shortly before the commencement of the symbolic sweeping, Amiloaded correspondent gathered that the state party chairman said the exercise became necessary because freedom park and the entire town were "polluted" with propaganda by the PDP during the rally.

He said "because APC is a party that cares for environments and their well being, we decided to clean up the mess left behind by the PDP after their rally."
