casualobserver:This is not about election indeed, but it always comes up during every election season and always in Lagos and nowhere else in the Southwest. That is how Tinubu have managed to maintain his grip on Lagos for decades. The Oba Akiolu's diatribe on "drowning in the lagoon" is still fresh in our memories. Even then, the opposition was a certain Jimi Agbaje who got labelled the Igbo candidate. Same as was done to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor. If Lagos has not enjoyed unparalleled federal government attention, show me another Southwest state that is close to Lagos by half in every metric. |
casualobserver:Lagos is Yorubaland but Tinubu just took a 15 trillion naira project that is worth half of the nation's budget without appropriation to Lagos. "Our Lagos" but the federal government over the years have invested loans worth billions of dollars of the nation’s patrimony on Lagos which the entire Nigerians are expected to service via taxation. It is like Northerners claiming Abuja belongs solely to the North and starting a tribal campaign to expel people of other tribes from the land. Again, look at the big picture. This is worse than South Africa's xenophobia because you're doing this to your own kin. Again, we know you're only doing this to shore up support for Tinubu in his base but it isn't worth it. |
Who is Chigozirim? If the reverse were to be the case, Seunmsg will quickly create a thread and term the said individual as "Atiku's media aide" and it will be moved swiftly to the frontpage. |
casualobserver:When are you all going to wake up and face the reality that your tribalization of the Tinubu candidacy will only hurt his chances? We know you're doing so to undo the embarrassment of losing Lagos to Obi but is it really worth it. Is winning back Lagos at all costs at the detriment of isolating yourselves from the rest of Nigerians worth the trade off? The Southwest is just one of 6 regions with 6 states and last I checked, Tinubu only won 4 out of the 6 and his latest antics is making the liberals in the SW to move even further away from him. You are trying to undo that by rallying the region around tribe but you all fail to see the big picture that Tinubu is not contesting for Southwest regional premier. Obasanjo won twice without winning his Southwest region. Tinubu doesn't need all this if he's truly a pan-Nigerian leader. |
Adeleke fumbled his chances by endorsing Tinubu two years before the election. It showed desperation and it might cost him. I wonder why this thread on Oyinlola's position never made it to frontpage. https://www.nairaland.com/8484040/defecting-apc-ruin-adelekes-political#136237159 |
shaqhead:Do you think Northerners play the petty, unsophisticated and tribal politics that the SWesterners play? Bala is a strong member of the PDP with presidential ambitions. Atiku won Sokoto Kebbi, Kaduna and many other Northern states in 2023 but the people voted in givernors under the APC in the gubernatorial elections. For the umpteenth time, why is the APC obsessed with governors? Only the North as a region have politicians strategically positioned in all the political parties including the new ADC. It's strategic. |
Whataboutism. How does Tinubu intend to galvanise the entire South behind him with such divisive rethorics emanating from his own state. Even the Southsouth and voters from the Northcentral are looking at the developments with disgust. |
Cromagnon:Yes, a lot of them are corrupt hence vulnerable. Tinubu loves the looters and politically vulnerable though. That way, he can have them on a leash. We saw it with Ganduje whom he had to threaten to resign by dangling his EFCC case before him. At least we can agree that we understand why many would not decamp yet but make no mistakes, they will sabotage the party from within to break free. Sanwo-olu allegedly sponsored Atiku's campaign. |
Reloadedisraelp:Alright. Why not have INEC count the number of governors in each party by 2027 and declare the party with the most numbers the winner? |
IJAYA001:Exactly. Do you now agree that having Governors in your party does not necessarily determine the outcome of the election? Unless of course you're planning to use them to forcefully rig the election and deny the people their right to vote their choices. |
seunmsg:We know. The only people that are relevant and can win their wards are the ones in the APC. ADC is not planning to win the Southwest but it's now obvious it will get good numbers in the SW. Any votes gotten in Tinubu’s base is a bonus. Tinubu actually has no base. |
By the time the wave of the coalition tsunami starts blowing stronger sometime in 2016, there will be a mass exodus from the APC. |
helinues:They don't have to come up with any new thing. They can do whatever Tinubu thinks he's doing better than Tinubu. |
Why is the Kachikwu of a guy behaving like a jilted lover? If, indeed, the coalition members made a mistake, shouldn't he be happy about it? We understand he has to earn his pay lest he returns their money. |
Holdup247:Of course you will. But if I was Tinubu, I'll be very concerned if 98% of my supporters display traits like yours below and are from a particular region.
|
EvilMerodack:Why are you and Tinubu obsessed with attracting Governors while alienating the people? Below are the list of APC governors and politicians that couldn’t deliver Tinubu in 2023. I just hope you all will wake and smell the coffee before its too late. - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Lagos for himself - Bola Tinubu failed to deliver Osun for himself - Muhammadu Buhari failed to deliver Katsina for Tinubu/APC - Barr Simon Bako Lalong failed to deliver Plateau for Tinubu/APC - SP Akpabio failed to deliver Akwa Ibom for Tinubu/APC - DSP Barau failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - NSA Ribadu failed to deliver Adamawa for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Speaker Abbas failed to deliver Kaduna for Tinubu/APC - Sen Kalu failed to deliver Abia for Tinubu/APC - Hope Uzodinma failed to deliver Imo for Tinubu/APC. - Sen. Adams Oshimole failed to deliver Edo for Bola Tinubu/APC - Ganduje failed to deliver Kano for Tinubu/APC - Gov. Mai Mala failed to deliver Yobe for Tinubu/APC - Alkali failed to deliver Gombe for Tinubu/APC - Sen. Wammako failed to deliver Sokoto for Tinubu/APC - Oyetola failed to deliver Osun for Tinubu/APC - Dave Umahi failed to deliver Ebonyi for Tinubu/APC |
olaiya2007:Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers state and Governor Adeleke of Osun State with his withheld local government allocations will beg to differ with you. Even Governor Sheriff of Delta and his Godfather Okowa with the EFCC Sword of Damocles hanging over his head will beg to differ with you. Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, the new born-again will beg to differ with you. But the APC should remember that you can't force people to like you. You can't buy love and neither can you copy respect. |
richmond500:You sound ridiculous. Are we now competing with Ethiopia? How hath the mighty fallen under Tinubu. |
The ADC is metamorphosing to become the only credible alternative. Thanks to the APC for that. In trying to destroy all opposition parties, they will rather succeed in leaving Nigerians opposed to them with only the ADC as an alternative. You can not buy love, and neither can you copy respect. However, the race is a marathon, not a sprint. Only the enduring will reach the finish line. Move too fast too quickly and you lose steam. |
Instead of the SWesterners to also work on uniting the whole South behind Tinubu. They are busy majoring in the minor by renaming streets and preventing people from other regions from voting in local government elections. How does Tinubu intend to win this election? |
slivertongue:Tinubu's garrulous appointees are doing him a great disservice in the North. |
If APC is that unpopular enough that Adeleke decamping to the party will ruin his chances of being reelected, how come Agbadorians keep parroting that Tinubu will win the Southwest in a landslide? I hope Tinubu is not counting on other regions to deliver him like in 2023 when he couldn't even deliver himself? At this point, Lagos, Osun and Oyo (if Makinde picks up PDP's ticket) are not certain. Where then will Tinubu get bloc votes from? |
The strategy of the Southwest at this point in time should be drawing other regions of the South together not engaging in divisive rethorics and segregation. The region in power should always be seen to be more magnanimous as Nigeria is a delicate country. Northerners stomached everything thrown at them during Buhari including being called cows and all sorts. They never retaliated with vendetta. |
Senator David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark (GCON)! This is the person that APC has recruited one Mr. Nantewe to go head-to-head with? All the best to them. |
APC overinvested in the prospects of Kwankwaso joining their party that they are finding it hard to come to terms with the disappointment. Tinubu destroyed his relationship with a trusted ally in Ganduje and created resentment between himself, Shettima and the Northeast all for a Kwankwaso who has now refused to join the party. Master Strategist una! |
Just a gentle reminder that the so-called "Dangerous Strategist" failed to deliver himself in the gubernatorial elections in Plateau state. He was summarily defeated by Caleb Muftwang of the PDP but go ahead and earn your pay with the sponsored article. |
zelnababa:When did Mallam become a bad person to you Yorubas? Was it before or after he worked hard and made Tinubu President? Was it before or after Tinubu took him everywhere including to Chatham House to help him answer questions? Was it before or after Tinubu begged him publicly on stage to stay back and work in his cabinet and then betrayed him? You all think you're smart but everyone can now see through you. |
helinues:Whatever advantage Tinubu could hope to get from retaining Shettima has already been eroded. Everybody can tell that Tinubu was ready to ditch him without batting an eyelid. Northeasterners would now wholeheartedly back their son, Atiku for President than go for Vice president position that is fast fizzling away. |
Tinubu's propensity to betray allies and move on without any remorse has come back to hurt him. Elrufai, Kashim Imam, Ganduje, Kashim Shettima, the list goes on. No serious politician in the North with ambition will ever trust him again. He wanted Kwankwaso badly and even sacrificed Ganduje for the deal to materialise but Kwankwaso said no, despite Tinubu coming to Kano to bend the knee. |
Appletek:I thought you all already promised Kwankwaso that position? But, before Kwankwaso it was Shettima. Then it became Ribadu. In the lead up to 2023 elections it was even Elrufai. Now, it's a Christian from North Central. Can you now understand why Kwankwaso is hesitant of joining Tinubu in the APC? Even Christians in the Northcentral don't trust you because it's just an election gimmick to you all. |
