How did this fake news make it to nairaland? This was 2023. Kwankwaso will eventually join the APC but he hasn't gotten all his demands yet. Sacking Ganduje is not enough. He needs total control of the entire APC structure in Kano. Tinubu will succumb. He's desperate.

By declaring his interest to run for president, Datti Baba Ahmed has thrown his boss, Obi under the bus.
|
seunowa:It doesn't take much power, it only takes a few billions. Everyone has a price. It's just a matter of how much. |
seunmsg:Continue to build castles in the air and deceive Obidients. Does Abure look like a man who would handover the ticket to Obi under any circumstances? Datti has thrown Obi under the bus but it doesn't matter, Obi is fully with the coalition. |
Jorussia:How could he have built the labour party when the party was clearly hijacked by a FG determined to do so via their compromised proxies? What could he have done? Do you really think it was a coincidence for the Labour party, PDP, SDP, NNPP and virtually all political parties to be embroiled in leadership crisis? |
fergie001:Crude politics, yes, but this is another strategic mistake by the APC. Labour party zoning out their ticket to "Obi's man," Datti Baba Ahmed will only make Atiku's quest appear legitimate and kill any agitation for "Southern turn" by the Obidients. The same will apply if PDP zones their ticket to the North. The unintended consequence of that is that it will make it easier for Obi to agree to deputise Atiku without considerable backlash.
|
The labour party already endorsed Datti for the presidential ticket. The aftermath of Wike's meeting with Abure is beginning to manifest but its another strategic mistake by APC. I won't explain. From the utterances of Datti against the coalition from day one, one could tell that he has been compromised. He's free to try but he didn't deliver his polling unit to Obi in 2023.

LegendHero:Take it up with Leadership newspapers. https://leadership.ng/just-in-babangidas-son-declines-tinubus-appointment-of-boa-chair/ |
Beremx:Not fake. Confirmed. It's an international embarrassment. https://leadership.ng/just-in-babangidas-son-declines-tinubus-appointment-of-boa-chair/ |
SmartPolician:Trust me, this has already been sorted out. Remember Obidients didn't even know Obi was part of the coalition until 48hrs before the big reveal. |
The info may still need to be authenticated though. Update: Confirmed! https://leadership.ng/just-in-babangidas-son-declines-tinubus-appointment-of-boa-chair/ Mynd44, fergie001 |
What an embarassment! Tinubu has been roundly rejected in the North. This will become clearer heading into 2027. IBB and his sons are probably richer than Tinubu, how the he.ll did he think he can buy their support through an appointment? Appointments have become transactional to him. Only lifeline left now is for Kwankwaso to pity him and agree to be his Vice now that he has gone to Kano to formally beg. Heads or tail, "THE GUY IS GONE!" |
jahsharon:Maybe but it's vice versa. Now imagine Seyi Makinde and even Obi contesting seperately alongside Tinubu. That splits the Southern votes into 3 and Obi will still get the highest vote among the 3 in Southern Nigeria if the elections were to be free and fair. Now, tell me, what is Tinubu's pathway to re-election? If PDP zones their ticket to Bala Mohammed, they would also not have the moral justification to make 2027 about "turn of the south". Heads or tail, Atiku would get the highest votes across the 19 Northern states in all permutations. He only needs to work hard to get the required spread in a few states in the South. That is achievable. |
opes:Atiku won Osun, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom in 2023 when the agitation for Southern presidency was more stronger than it is now. Just to jog your memory. In 2027, Atiku will have more stronger grip on the North than Tinubu will have on the South. |
Haydens:Exactly. He now has no discussion point again otherwise, he would have organised another media chat. His attempt to attack Peter Obi also backfired. He even had to pathetically show his hand by taking pictures with Abure just to show Tinubu he may still be relevant. Tinubu is allegedly beginning to breathe down his neck and asking questions about the recently uncovered land scandal. |
SalamRushdie:Buhari’s 12m followers were ready to pay to vote him in 2015. If anybody spent any money on Buhari, it was to cover up for their own lapses in delivering their own side of the bargain because they lack the strength of character. |
Softmirror:The ADC existed as a party long before Kachikwu dreamt of ever contesting under its banner. He doesn't own the party. What supporters? How many votes did he garner for the party in the last election? Only in Nigeria would a politician contest under a party and automatically think he owns the platform. No wonder Tinubu has privatised the APC while chasing out its founding members like Chief John Oyegun, El-Rufai and others. |
shivisee:Oya, press your calculator and tell us Tinubu's pathway to re-election. Even your Tinubu is no longer as confident and has been running from pillar to post while begging Kwankwaso to save his campaign. |
Softmirror:Okay, so his ranting is borne out of frustration? How did he nurture the ADC? He merely contested as a presidential candidate under the party. Can Peter Obi also claim to have nurtured the labour party? |
To the poster above me, all that "fought for democracy" cliché is becoming stale and has been proven to be false. Who said "democracy fighter" is now the standard for leadership in the country? Is Tinubu not already behaving worse than Abacha? All the coalition leaders you mentioned above are better democrats than Tinubu has turned out to be. His claims of fighting for democracy in exile is no different from Simon Ekpa leading the Biafra Government in Exile. If anything, it's cowardice. |
Kachikwu is the closest that APC and its proxies could use to infiltrate the ADC, but unfortunately, he has been outfoxed by the real master strategists in the ADC. He can only speculate and rant from afar. Peter Obi remains in the coalition. |
mrvitalis:Exactly. In trying to be smart, Wike and Tinubu have now boxed themselves into a corner. A Northerner clinching the PDP ticket automatically kills any agitation for power to remain in the South. On the other hand, a Southwesterner clinching the ticket means even less votes for Tinubu. Double jeopardy for the master strategist. APC and Wike proxies should tone down on the Southern agitation in order not to make this election a North-South supremacy battle because Tinubu will lose handsomely if that be the case. The North has the advantage of numbers. |
"It's the turn of the South. PDP should zone the ticket to Southwest. Bala Mohammed must step down for Seyi Makinde." - Gbatists |
Heads or tail, Tinubu has ended up destroying the Osun APC for his own ambition. It won't be the first state he has done that either. Rest assured, Aregbesola's formidable ADC is open to receiving genuinely aggrieved members from both the APC and the PDP. |
APC has continued with this intimidating style of politics that is largely responsible for the formation of the coalition today. Who would have thought that Atiku, Obi, Elrufai, and other key players of the coalition would be under an umbrella today? Perhaps, if APC had not deployed crude tactics and sabotaged their respective parties, this may not have materialised. The continuous hounding of Obi, the only other Southerner in the race, will further accelerate the decision for him to agree to deputise Atiku because it shows that the agitation for "turn of the South" is just a smokescreen for Tinubu to continue in power. This will inevitably spell the death of APC. |
Wike's men are beginning to show themselves after Atiku left the party for them. Abba Moro should ask PDP to zone their ticket to the South and keep it moving. What happens in other political parties is not his business. It's the turn of the South but which part of the South? It's the turn of the South but Obi a southerner isn't allowed to come campaign in his Benue, nor in Edo and they are all mum about it. The Northeast also have a legitimate agitation to occupy the seat because they have never produced a President.
|
digitaliz:Is it safe to assume that they cannot be another legitimate Awujale until the new King eats his heart? |
Lol. Tinubu is very scared. There's nothing anyone can tell me. It wasn’t a prophesy, he only prayed for you. |
He will have no other option now than to reconcile with Aregbesola and decamp to the ADC if he wants to win his re-election. |
Lol. As expected, APC is seriously resisting Adeleke's impending defection to the party but Tinubu will have his way thereby creating more disenchantment within the party. The biggest beneficiary will be Aregbesola's ADC. |
