FatimaAbubakar:It is time Obidients face Tinubu and cease attacks on Atiku. They may still stand to benefit from Atiku’s voting bloc. This is politics. For all we know, this defection may be yet another strategy of the coalition. |
Elrufai, the Genius and original Master strategist to the Master tragedist already said in an interview 8 months ago that 2027 will be a three-horse race and will go into a run-off in the worst case scenario. The truth is that, everything will depend on momentum. If the OK ticket builds enough momentum, Tinubu will not have it easy in the South. If he sticks with the muslim-muslim ticket, his little gains in the Christian middlebelt will be eroded and Obi will benefit. If he replaces Shettima, he risks the ire of the Muslim North. Tinubu's best shot is for Obi not to be on the ballot at all. Otherwise, his only pathway will lie in the North, just like in 2023.

Kdon2:Here's the video. Obi and his Obidients are more excited about the OK ticket than Kwankwaso is. That alone says a lot.
|
seunmsg:That primaries Obi is running away from, he must undergo it in the NDC. Kwankwaso will insist on primaries as stipulated by the electoral act. Obi does not know what he has gotten himself into.
|
WizardOfNG:When will you lot accept that opposition is not an attack on your region? Was Tinubu not in opposition for over 14 years before becoming president? Must all Northerners and indeed, all Nigerians support Tinubu? Enough Northerners already support Tinubu. He got 5.6m votes in the North, far larger than he got in the South. All Northern governors are also in the APC. But it will be foolhardy for you lot to think Tinubu will cease to be opposed under a democracy. Even Makinde and Adeleke from the SW oppose Tinubu and justifiably so because Tinubu also opposed Obasanjo. Grow up please and tell Tinubu to stop stifling, incarcerating and intimidating opposition figures. That's not democracy. It is this high-handedness and intimidation that is fast eroding his Northern base. |
ufotunang:Kwankwaso contested the 2023 presidential elections after 8 years of Buhari. Then, he refused every overtures to deputise Obi. Pray tell, at what point did he realise that it was the turn of the South? |
tishbite41:Atiku has contested the presidential elections three times. First time he chose Ben Obi as Vice. Second time he chose Peter Obi as Vice. Third time he chose Ifeanyi Okowa as Vice. When did Atiku become an enemy of the East? Well, we will be here when you lot will come back to declare Kwankwaso an enemy of the Southeast. Until emotions are removed from national politics, we will continue to go round in circles, arriving at the same point. |
Mrexcell:No, the VP is almost always a ladder to the presidency. In 1999, Atiku, a northerner was VP to Obasanjo and the North became president. Goodluck Jonathan, a Southsoutherner was VP to Yar'adua and the SS became president. Osinbajo was VP to Buhari and the Southwest became president. Shettima is now VP to Tinubu and power is set to head North. These patterns are to real to be coincidences. As at today, the Southeast has no pathway to presidency that does not involve going through the VP route. This is why it will be politically wise for the SE to fully back Tinubu in 2027 to stand a chance at being the VP in 2031. Leave the emotions aside and quit the superiority politics already. The upcoming generation of the East will thank you for it. |
SeeWahala:That wasn't an insult. Just a hard reality check but I know that will be your comeback. Respect to the enterprising spirit of the Igbos but no matter how many Obi Cubanas they are in the SE and how many individual road projects they embark upon in the East, it won't amount to the scale and opportunities that a Lagos coastal road will bring, or a rebuilt Carter bridge, or a renovated airport or seaport, etc. It's time to quit these emotional politics and play politics to win. The Southeastern children yet unborn will thank you for it. Let them have the opportunity to live and thrive in their own region with dignity and respect. This has to happen sooner or later. Goodbye. |
Mrexcell:No, they do. In order to give the likes of Uzodinma and Umahi a short at VP in 2031, the Southeast must vote enmass for Tinubu in 2027 or watch that slot go to Wike, Akpabio or someone from the SS if they deliver. That's how politics at the national level is played. The SE does not have a pathway to the presidency without going through the VP route. 2027 will have been the fastest and most potent opportunity like it was for the Southwest in 2015 but the SE failed to take it. Politics is not an emotional sport. |
SeeWahala:Don't worry, keep being emotional in the amalgamated entity that is Nigeria. Southeastern children yet unborn will be exempted from paying the loans that are being used to build Lagos coastal road and Sokoto-Badagry.
|
yaroyaro619:What about Amaechi? Should he also have stepped down and supported Obi? Keep bandying the word hatred around. If everyone seems to hate you, maybe it's time for self-introspection. Kwankwaso will insist for primaries to be conducted in the NDC. Just wait and see. Obi was told long before he joined that zoning was not on the table. He can't claim to have been lied to.
|
SeeWahala:Not exactly. You can argue about individuals but when you talk about regional interests, the North is currently VP to Tinubu from the SW, and power will head North in 2031. The North also voted Tinubu and gave him 5.6m votes. Just before Tinubu, Buhari was president for 8 years, just as Osinbajo from the SW was VP. Like I said, remove the individuals from the equation, the only question that matters at the end of the day is, "what's in it for my region?". If all you care about is teaching Atiku a lesson, then I can't help it. Atiku is just one old man and a former VP too. |
Mrexcell:All the efforts of those men you cited have all been in vain because the Southeast voters have refused to vote for the party. Has the SE ever voted APC in the presidential elections? Tinubu was also a regional champion and opposition leader in the Southwest but it wasn't until he convinced his people to back Buhari under the newly formed APC that he became president. At the time, the SE was calling APC a Yoruba party and even voted out Ngige who would have become Senate President. Playing national politics is a different game entirely. Voting in protest without an alliance with any of the two regions will amount to a waste. Nothing emotional about it. Right now, it will pay the Southeast more to fully back Tinubu's re-election. |
Peter Obi went with respected Southeastern leaders like Abaribe, etc to an elaborate event in Enugu to declare for the ADC. He has now left without a little care for any of those men or their political ambitions and the collective interest of the Southeast. That is not how to lead. I now understand the likes of Alex Otti and Obaze better. Even Zubby Michael who joined the ADC a few weeks ago was placed in the dark and has now been left with the short-end of the stick. |
tishbite41:I hope you guys are in to actually win the election this time and not just to purportedly teach Atiku a lesson? Last time, the goal was to win Lagos, it seems the goal this time will be to make Atiku cry. Meanwhile, the North and the Southwest continue to rotate power between themselves and amass loans for projects sited in both regions that the Southeast will contribute in paying. When will the Southeast actually play politics to win? Genuine question. |
aswani:Indeed. Elrufai failed the security clearance under Tinubu's rubberstamp national assembly but Bello Matawalle, Yahaya Bello and Okowa did not. Indeed, cowards die a thousand times before their deaths. Elrufai is unbreakable and scores will be settled as long as time tarries. |
SlavaUkraini:If Kwankwaso has no qualms throwing Atiku and all other senior coalition members that went to Kano to personally receive him, under the bus by leaving in just 6 weeks, is it Peter Obi he will now be loyal to? Don't forget he held series of meetings with Tinubu just before Abba defected. He was set to become Tinubu's Vice but apparently Tinubu had other plans on how to utilise him. Obi might have just set the Southeast back politically by a few years. |
aswani:Is it the same Elrufai that Tinubu begged in Kaduna and took to Chatham house to help him answer questions that you're referring to? Same Elrufai that made Tinubu president? This same Elrufai that Tinubu has now illegally incarcerated due to fear and cowardice? Go ask Tinubu about Elrufai's capacity.
|
Fake news. Where is the link? |
Watch the body language of Kwankwaso. He might insist on contesting the NDC primaries with Obi. Kwankwaso has nothing to lose. He has probably struck a deal with Tinubu. That's why he has Abba Kabir in the APC for insurance purposes. Obidients appear to be more excited about the OK ticket than Kwankwaso is. Lessons!
|
seunmsg:Mike Arnold became known to Nigerians when Ribadu and Reno Omokri packaged him to Nigeria to come say there was no Christian genocide. Nigerians never paid notice to him until he called them both out for having lied to him. He also dropped proofs. |
DoTheNeedful:So why did the Structure of PDP vote for Atiku when they knew it was the turn of the South? Is Atiku now in the APC? Can you see how your argument falls flat on its face? Despite Seyi Makinde's revolt against Atiku, Atiku got over 180k votes in Oyo state. |
DoTheNeedful:Atiku won Akpabio's Akwa Ibom, Goodluck Jonathan's Bayelsa and Adeleke's Osun state in 2023 just after 8 years of Buhari’s presidency. Even Wike very nearly became his Vice until he chose Okowa. Maybe you should have reminded the people that voted for him in those states that it was the turn of the South. |
SmartPolician:A better show of his political prowess was to have been bold in facing his opponents at the polls instead of using the courts, incarceration and intimidation to force his way into power. That's reminiscent of Sani Abacha, not master strategy. |
DoTheNeedful:We hear you. After 8 years of Obasanjo as President and 8 years of Osinbajo as Vice, Tinubu had no business contesting against Obi in 2023. Its the turn of the South but your man Friday is disenfranchising Obi in whatever political party he goes. Is Obi not Southern enough to contest against him? |
DoTheNeedful:Yes, but which part of the South? After 8 years of Obasanjo as President and 8 years of Osinbajo as Vice, Tinubu had no business contesting against Obi in 2023. Its the turn of the South but your man Friday is disenfranchising Obi in whatever political party he goes. Is Obi not Southern enough to contest against him? |
DoTheNeedful:Then Tinubi will have rolled back all the advantages that a three-horse race bestows on him. Obidients should be careful with their messaging and how they throw invectives at Atiku. They might still need to rely on his voting bloc. |
DoTheNeedful:If Tinubu takes ADC out of the election, he would have shot himself in the foot. The anger will make the North vote Obi/Kwankwaso enmass. |
Most of Akume's men already defected from the APC. Will they come back? The rift between Akume and Alia is not the kind that can be settled with mere presidential directive and press statement. It goes deeper than that. Pantami just rejected the consensus candidate chosen in Gombe and is set to head to court. Adelabu has done same in Oyo and IG in Nassarawa. In Kano, Abba has denied Barau, Ado Doguwa, Kawu Samaila, and others return tickets. The implosion is inevitable.
|
SuperEagles:So if Obi wins the Southeast and Southsouth in a landslide like he's now set to do and Atiku wins the North with better margins than he did in 2023, where will Tinubu's votes come from? |
