The legal representative of the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB), Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor has advised the sureties who signed the bail bond of the now missing leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, not to worry as they won't be held liable. PoliticsNGR gathered that Ejiofor, who has also petitioned the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce Kanu in court dead or alive, added that only the court of law can determine if Kanu flouted his bail conditions or not. Ejiofor told sun; "The issue of whether Nnamdi Kanu flouted his bail conditions or not doesn’t lie in the hands of the military or even the Executive to determine. It’s the court; allow the court to decide on it. This is a matter of argument and law. The military has positioned itself as taking over the matter before a court. Is the military the enforcement arm of the court? It’s even more curious when the court has not revoked the bail; the court has not said go and arrest him, so he’s still enjoying the bail granted him by court. Let me say this; if Kanu had, in the course of enjoying the bail granted him by the court, been seen to have committed any offence outside the one being tried in court, they can simply wait and let him come to court. If he comes to court on October 17, they could arrest him on those supposed offences. There is no law that says that anybody being tried for any offence and enjoying bail cannot be arrested if the person commits another offence. If actually what they wanted was to arrest him; they would have waited for him to come to Abuja. But I know what they wanted was to kill him at all cost; and let me not believe that has taken place by now." Speaking on the sureties, he pointed out that under the present circumstances, they cannot be touched. In his words; The point is that you cannot under the circumstance lay hands on the sureties because the circumstance that presented itself is such that had gone beyond the sureties’ control. In legal parlance, it’s called force majeure. It’s not a situation they would be able to control. The court is a human being; it can listen to our application. If at all this incident never took place and by tomorrow we start looking for Nnamdi Kanu, they will be told to go and produce him. But in this case, Nnamdi Kanu had been visible; moving around, going places, meeting people and was very certain of coming to Abuja before now to face trial, so, people who attacked him, killed people in his house, wounded people and arrested people, should be in a position to show us where he is. It now lies with the army; it’s out of the sureties hands, so they cannot be held liable." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/30/nnamdi-kanus-sureties-wont-lose-n300-million-bond-ipob-lawyer/

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), Chief John Oyegun has stated that his party wants to win the upcoming Anambra state Guber elections because it wants to change a narrative in the south-east. PoliticsNGR learnt that Oyegun, who spoke at the inauguration of a 48-member campaign council for the party's candidate in the November elections, Tony Nwoye, disclosed that the party needed to win the elections to end the cries of marginalization by the south-east. We must change the narrative in the South-East and we must start with Anambra because the APC represents the most viable route for any South-East person to the presidency of this country.” Oyegun also described Anambra as the 'Gateway to the south-east'. In his words; "It is important that we do everything we can, fair and square, to bring Anambra State into the fold of the progressives for a lot of reasons.Until we manage to bring a few states into the mainstream of progressives’ politics, we may not see the end of this continued cry of marginalisation. It is important that we work and work very hard to win Anambra being a critical state in the South-East. It is not going to be a small political struggle. We must work hard with unity of purpose to break through to the South-East in a major way to win Anambra. It is very important, essential and vital that we manage to hammer together not just a patchwork of peace or make-believe kind of camaraderie but a very serious unity of purpose between all those who aspired to that office to act as a serious guarantee that we are indeed also serious in winning the Anambra governorship seat." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/29/winning-anambra-elections-will-end-marginalization-south-east-oyegun/

Former president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that president Muhammadu Buhari has not done enough to tackle Unemployment and the economic recession. Obasanjo speaking with African arguments in a recent interview said: "Buhari has made some announcements. He has tried to keep on going in the area of agribusiness, but not enough. It is not yet enough to prepare the ground for the uninhibited growth of the economy, which we need". OBJ also pointed out that in the political structure of the country, governors were more powerful than the president. He said; ‘In fact, state governors are more powerful than the president. That’s the truth’ The former leader also urged the president to do more in the area of youth empowerment. In his words; "All youth in Nigeria have legitimate reasons to feel frustrated and angry," adding that if "youth empowerment, skill acquisition and youth employment – education is provided the ticking bomb of possible youth explosion out of restiveness and anger will subside." When asked about the Biafra agitations, OBJ said; "The protesters don’t even know what the struggle is all about, but if it gives them false hope, why not hang onto it?” “Let the elders handle it or ignore it until it loses momentum,” “There are elders in any community who are still respected…After all, they’re their fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, and can still be used effectively." He also revealed that he was not a believer of True Federalism; "I don’t believe in true federalism. What is true federalism? “Why are they not accountable? What powers do they not have? In fact, state governors are more powerful than the president. That’s the truth,” ‘If anybody tells you they want devolution or true federalism, he doesn’t know what he is talking about. “The fact anybody talks about it doesn’t mean it’s right," he said. http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/29/buhari-not-done-enough-economy-obasanjo/

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has said that he had no plans of deposing the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, no matter the level of provocation and opposition to the recent installation of new obas in Ibadanland. He also appealed to members of the Obas-in-Council and all other newly installed obas in Ibadanland to extend the olive branch to the Olubadan by visiting him as a way of assuring the paramount ruler that they bore no grudge against him. The governor spoke at a meeting he held with the traditional council of the 11 local governments in Ibadanland, which are being headed by the Obas-in-Council, formerly known as members of the Olubadan-in-Council, at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan. The meeting was also attended by senior chiefs in Ibadanland, members of the Ibadan Elders’ Forum, chairmen of the 11 local governments and 14 local council development areas in Ibadan as well as members of the state executive council. Despite being vested with enormous powers of suspension and deposition of erring monarch, as enshrined in Cap 28, Section 26 (1) of the Chiefs Laws of Oyo State 2000, Ajimobi said that he would not invoke such powers over the Ibadan monarch. The section reads, “The governor may suspend or depose any chief (oba) whether appointed before or after the commencement of this law if it is satisfied that such suspension or deposition is required according to customary law or is necessary in the interest of peace or order or good government’’ Governor Ajimobi, who reiterated that Oba Adetunji was his father, said that he would not do anything that would diminish his status or bring his exalted stool into disrepute. He said,``Let me state that the existing chieftaincy law gives any governor power to remove any traditional ruler who engages in activities that can jeopardize the peace of his domain. ``I should also add that Kabiyesi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has of recent been engaging in certain activities that are inimical to the peace and tranquility of Ibadan. ``Only recently, Olubadan embarked on a roadshow across Ibadan, waving horsetail to bystanders in an apparent attempt to incite the people against the government. Such actions could have pitted the antagonists and protagonists of installation of new obas against one another. “This is capable of plunging Ibadan metropolis into a crisis of unimaginable proportion, if not for the understanding and support of the people for the government. But no matter what happens, I assure you I will never depose the Olubadan. He remains my father. His palace is just being used by failed politicians, especially the Accord Party leader, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, to relaunch his faded political career. ``I hold the Olubadan and his stool in high esteem. This is why I will also want to beg the obas-in-council to visit Baba and mend their relationship. If I can’t fight the Olubadan, please you should not fight him.” Ajimobi, who described the royal father as a good man, with liberal disposition, however, expressed the regret that he had allowed his palace to be hijacked by those he called failed politicians and serial losers. He said that their plans were not only to heat up the polity but also to return Ibadan metropolis to the dark days when arson, violence and brigandage reigned supreme, all targeted at the 2019 general elections. The governor added, ``Reports at our disposal indicate that the crisis that had trailed the appointment of new obas in Ibadan and the gun attack on the Olubadan palace on Monday might have been masterminded by these failed politicians. ``They have taken advantage of Kabiyesi’s advanced age to carry out their nefarious activities and use the palace as the centre of opposition to the government. What they failed to achieve through the ballot box, they want to achieve through the back door. ``Our government is not for violence. We don’t encourage brigandage. It is people like Ladoja who have been promoting violence that were behind the attack on Olubadan’s palace. It was during Ladoja’s regime that gunmen shot into the late Baba (Lamidi) Adedibu’s house because of his opposition to him. “Ladoja’s supporters caused mayhem in Akure (Ondo State) when he lost out in his bid to be endorsed as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party. During his administration, even the governor’s office became a theatre of war. All these are on record.” He, however, vowed not to be intimidated by what he called Ladoja’s pull-him-down syndrome and self-centredness. Speaking earlier, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, expressed appreciation to the governor for the matured way he had handled the provocative activities of the opponents of the recent review of the Olubadan Chieftaincy Law. Olakulehin recalled what he called the overwhelming support members of the then Olubadan-in-Council gave Oba Adetunji during his nomination as Olubadan-designate and his eventual colorful coronation by the state government. He, however, alleged that the foremost traditional ruler had treated them with disdain and had embarked on activities that could tarnish the revered Olubadan stool. The royal father particularly cited the “unilateral removal of Alhaja Abake Lawal as the Iyaloja of Ibadanland by Oba Adetunji” allegedly on the excuse that she was not an Ibadan indigene in spite of the opposition by the Olubadan-in-Council. Also, the Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, rejoiced with the governor on what he called the successful completion of the Olubadan chieftaincy law review, adding that the Olubadan stool had further been elevated to the imperial status. He said that Ladoja’s major grouse with the governor was that he had no opportunity of carrying out the reform during his own tenure as governor. Oba Adebimpe said, “I will appeal to the citizens of Oyo State to be praying for good health and strength for the governor because of his many good intentions. I rejoice with him for seeing the reform through. He has succeeded where his predecessors have failed. “I also want to say that the main grouse of my friend is that he was unable to carry out this reform when he was governor. I salute Ajimobi’s doggedness and courage. He has taken many valiant and commendable steps since he became governor. “Maybe, Kabiyesi the Olubadan did not know that the governor had elevated his status by this review. He is also a beneficiary because he is now the imperial majesty. Our role now is to be enlightening the people on the many advantages of the chieftaincy review.” http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/27/no-intention-deposing-olubadan-ajimobi-fingers-ladoja/ Cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

To forestall further security breach across Oyo State, the Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has summoned an emergency meeting of the state security council, which has been scheduled for the Governor’s Office, today. The meeting is coming on the heels of recent events and developments in the state, especially the reported unwarranted shooting by some gunmen during a ceremony at the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji. The governor has also summoned a separate meeting of the traditional councils of the 11 local governments of Ibadanland, which are being headed by the members of the Obas-in-Council, who were formerly addressed as Olubadan-in-Council until their recent promotion. They are also expected to meet with the governor at his office, on Wednesday (tomorrow). The governor’s decision was conveyed through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, on Tuesday. Expected at the meeting are the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan; Commissioner of Police at the state command; Director of Department of State Services; State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and heads of other security agencies in the state. The statement added, “Government notes the unacceptable development and warns that the pre-2011 era of brigandage and violence perpetrated by undesirable elements shall not be tolerated. “Government assures all and sundry that such perpetrators who may be exploiting the opportunity of the developments on the Ibadan chieftaincy issue to repeat the mayhem experienced prior to the tenure of this administration, and who seem to be warming up to their traits, shall be fished out and made to face the law. “Government assures the public of its commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property in the state and shall take imperative, desirable and decisive steps to checkmate the untoward development.” The statement implores all law-abiding citizens and members of the public to go about their lawful engagements without any fear, with the assurance that government would continue to be alive to its constitutional responsibilities. http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/26/olubadan-palace-shooting/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

A group of thugs, numbering over one hundred, arrived at the Ijebu-Ode stadium, venue of the football match between Ondo State team, Sunshine Stars and the Osun State team in more than 30 buses, vowing to wreak havoc. PoliticsNGR learned that the match which held last Saturday, started on a peaceful note with no particular unwholesome incident, as the two teams battled for a semi-final place in the 2017 edition of the FA Cup. Trouble, however, started when the Ondo team, who had lost the first leg match a few days earlier in Osogbo by a lone goal, defeated the Osun team by 3-1, thereby qualifying for the next stage on 3-2 aggregate. Speaking with newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State Commissioner for Sports, Mr Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, said that the thugs mobilized to the Ijebu-Ode stadium determined to unleash terror on the Sunshine Stars team and their supporters. Ogunleye, while condemning the attack, said the Ondo State team exhibited a true spirit of sportsmanship when it lost in the first leg, and wondered why a football match should be turned to an opportunity to unleash terror on peaceful football lovers. The commissioner said the behaviour of the Osun State team supporters was very reprehensible and a shame to the game of football. He said: "The match started on a peaceful note. We scored three goals, while they scored one goal. With the result, we were going to qualify for the next stage of the competition, with 3-2 aggregate. But, just as the referee of the match signalled the end and blew his whistle, thugs of the Osun team invaded the field and inflicted various degrees of injuries on our supporters. It took the intervention of the security agencies, especially the army, to rescue our players. But the supporters were not that lucky, as about 20 of them were injured, with two of them critically injured and had to be rushed to the hospital." He added that those whose cases were critical were still in hospital receiving medical attention as of the time of filing this report. Also speaking, the team manager of Sunshine Stars, Mr Aborowa Gabriel, expressed sadness over the ugly incident. Gabriel said: "After we rescued our supporters that were injured, we took them to the hospital where they were treated. But, after the president of the nation’s FA, Mr Amaju Pinnick, called me and said we should not allow the matter to degenerate, I went to the police station, where I met the Special Adviser on Sports to Osun State governor. I am also aware that it took the intervention of a prominent Oba before the thugs were released. Acts like this have no place in football, and should be condemned by all." According to Ondo state officials, the development might be a reprisal attack over the rough-handling of the Osun State Regional Integration Commissioner, Bola llori last Wednesday in Akure by thugs during a meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC. http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/26/osun-fans-attack-sunshine-stars-footballers-supportersmany-injured-photos/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

The Nigerian army has debunked a report that went viral on Thursday stating that dreaded terror sect, Boko Haram is in control of 7 local governments in the North. According to a statement obtained by PoliticsNGR, signed by the deputy director, Public relations of Theatre command, Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the report was 'False'. The statement read; "The attention of the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole has been drawn to a publication in The Guardian newspaper of 21 September 2017 where one Buba Galadima in an interview claimed that ‘Seven Local Governments of Borno State were still under control of Boko Haram terrorists’; even though he failed to furnish members of the public with the names of those Local Government Areas. Obviously, this sweeping statement is not only an attempt to propagate falsehood but a futile effort to disinform members of the public on the true security situation in the northeast from a perspective of one who is evidently detached from the realities of the counter-terrorism cum counterinsurgency operations in the northeast. It is very crucial to set the record straight by making it crystal clear that contrary to his opinions, the Boko Haram Terrorists group does not hold or control any Local Government Area in Borno state or in the northeast as claimed in the interview. These Local Government Areas have been liberated by troops of operation Lafiya Dole and the troops have continued to ensure security in these areas after routing out the insurgents. As a matter of fact, locals have been encouraged to return to their communities to resume their vocations and normal life. It may perhaps be needful to refresh memories by recalling that prior to the inauguration of Operations Lafiya Dole, the entire northeast was infested with Boko Haram Terrorists, who became emboldened to the extent of declaring a caliphate with headquarters in Gwoza town. All that became history as the gallant troops of Operation Lafiya Dole came into the theatre, gradually but steadily decimating the insurgents and liberating held territories in a series of well-planned and coordinated joint ground and air operations. One of such major operations was the Operation RESCUE FINALE, which routed the insurgents out of its tactical headquarters in Camp Zero in Sambisa forest and out of its so-called spiritual headquarters in Alargarno. Ever since, Operation Lafiya Dole has continued to relentlessly conduct several other operations such as Operation DEEP PUNCH, CHIKIN GUDU Operation and Operation RAWAN KADA alongside the Multinational Joint Task Force. These and many other operations have culminated in the degradation and incapacitation of the insurgent group. Apparently, this is the reason, the terrorist group is striving to remain relevant by resorting to callously use women and children to carry out suicide bomb attacks on soft and vulnerable targets. Currently, Operation Lafiya Dole in its resoluteness is carrying out precursor operations that will lead to a final assault to decisively and finally put an end to the insurgency in the northeast. Talking about logistical supplies, Operation Lafiya Dole regularly provides logistical support and replenishment to own troops deployed in all locations and Forward Operational Bases through the normal channels, using our main supply routes. Morealso, Theatre and formation Commanders routinely conduct working visits to troops in their formations and units within the theatre of operation. Hence, the question of troops been inaccessible as portrayed in the said article is an irredeemable fallacy. Perhaps it is necessary to note that considering the vastness of the northeast, Operation Lafiya Dole, aside holding tactical defensive positions to block the insurgents from access to logistics, has also gone ahead to insert Mobile Strike Teams in the theatre of operations to effectively patrol localities as well as seek out and neutralize the insurgents from their hideouts. Suffice to mention that in the month of August alone, a total of 82 Boko Haram insurgents have been killed in combat and 630 remote settlements were cleared by own troops. Our troops are tirelessly on the trail of the fleeing insurgents as devastating coordinated aerial and artillery bombardments are being unleashed on the terrorist group. Our troops are therefore not waiting only to repel BHT attacks as erroneously painted in the article, but are rather tactically deployed to deny the adversary freedom of action and access to logistics. Needless to add, that a group of insurgents on the run cannot hold or control any territory. Boko Haram lacks the capability to hold any territory in the northeast, hence its mindless attack on innocent and vulnerable civilians with suicide bombings, most of which were made unsuccessful by our vigilant troops. While not attempting to dismiss the fact that as the fleeing faceless insurgents rummage for logistical replenishment, they occasionally mix up with unsuspecting locals and thereafter attack them. This definitely cannot be described as holding territory, rather, it only simply underscores the need for other relevant agencies to do more to ensure progressive reintegration of the locals into their various communities. Without sounding immodest, it is worthy to note that the counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations of Operation Lafiya Dole in the northeast, has been commended within Nigeria and in the international community, resulting in several high level official visits to the northeast by national and international bodies. While assuring that our focus in Operation Lafiya Dole remains clear and will not be derailed, the general public is urged not be misguided by the insinuations and disinformation contained in the said article as they are devoid of the true and realistic impressions of the security situation in the northeast." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/22/boko-haram-not-control-7-local-governments-nigerian-army/

Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has denied ever receiving any query letter from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prior to his suspension on Thursday. Ubah who lost the Party's Governorship Primaries to Oseloka Obaze in Anambra State had questioned the decision of the party before heading to court. Although his case was swept aside in Court, Ubah was, however, displeased with the level of judicial impunity in the country. He told a correspondent; "Please I have not received any query and I can as well prove a point that as at (Wednesday) morning, I am still exchanging text messages with the chairman (Senator Ahmed Makarfi). The Peoples democratic party, (PDP) has accused ruling party, the All progressives Congress(APC) for catalyzing the growth of pro-secession group, the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB). The opposition party asked the APC to quit making excuses and admit the poorly articulated policies in the government help IPOB grow. In a statement made available to PoliticsNGR, signed by the national publicity secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the PDP urge the ruling party to stop blaming a 'superficial opposition for the agitations and activities of IPOB'.The statement read; "The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), is constrained once again to respond to the tirade by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who as usual, made an attempt at blaming a superficial opposition for the continuous gaffe of the Federal Government under the leadership of his Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). We had advised not a few times, that the APC should look inward and seek solutions to its self-induced challenges in government caused by its unpreparedness for governance; but since the Party seem set for self-destruction, we shall not relent in helping to expose their ineptitude to the Nigerian populace. We noticed that the Minister who is much known for his unbridled capacity for constant polarization of the polity rather than ardency in the proper dissemination of government policies and information to the populace, tried once again on Sunday, to shift blames of the poor handling of the agitations of IPOB by the Current Government to an opposition that exists only in his imagination. It is disheartening that rather than accept blame for its ineptitude, the APC Government has continued to blame “enemies” real or imaginary for their woes. How on earth will a serious minded government blame opposition parties which they have conveniently labelled “looters” for the activities of IPOB? But we take solace in the fact that the APC might actually know the looters, as the Party has clearly demonstrated it’s penchant for giving covers to people considered as corrupt. The recent release of 48 Houses confiscated as proceed of crime back to a member of the APC who was standing trial for allegations of corruption readily comes to mind. Much as we will continue to harp on the one sided corruption fight of this administration, we wish to urge the APC to look inwards in locating the looters using their ill-gotten wealth to sponsor separatist agitation against the Government of the Day. It is instructive to note that we are aware of the internal crisis rocking the amalgam of interests that formed the APC and the struggle for power within the Government, as the noise of discontent keep rising on a daily basis from the Party. Based on the above, it is no news that APC has been a problem unto itself which has affected the lives of the citizenry who daily gnash their teeth in regret for voting the APC into power in 2015. We wish to put on record that agitation for actualisation of the State of Biafra was a total silent voice while the PDP was in power because of the Government of inclusiveness we provided for Nigerians who were made to experience what a genuine national government meant. The APC should therefore, learn to mould itself into a real National Party, provide good leadership for the people and let the generality of Nigerians feel safe. Finally as a Party, we had condemned and we are still condemning separatist movements tailored towards balkanising the Nation. We therefore make bold to further state, that the APC policies have been the catalyst for IPOB problem, and as such, the Party should do soul searching and correct the anomaly. No external enemy so to say, is working against this government. The government is it’s own worst enemy." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/19/biafra-failures-created-ipob-pdp-fires-apc/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that he will never support anything that will lead to the breakup or disintegration of Nigeria. Wike statements came shortly after the Northern governors' forum(NGF) paid him a visit on Monday. The NGF had earlier stated that Wike's state-wide broadcast after an attack carried out by IPOB members on some Hausas in Oyigbo area of Port Harcourt last week, helped to restore normalcy to the state. In response, Wike said; "Rivers state believes in the unity of this country. Rivers state will not be a part of those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria. We owe it a duty to protect every Nigerian living in the state. I will not allow any group to intimidate, harass or attack other Nigerians living in the state. We are Rivers people and we belong to the Niger Delta." He also advised the aggrieved to dialogue in the interest of peace and development. He said; "I am not against anyone who wants to protest any grievance but, there are channels for such protests". Wike also said the people of Rivers state have peculiar grievances against developmental issues in the country and pointed out that as governor, he has raised such issues but will never support the disintegration of the country. Earlier, NGF Chairman and Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, expressed happiness with governor Wike and declared, "We are proud of you. We are associating ourselves with you. Nigeria is greater than political differences. We belong to one political family and that is the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No interest should be bigger than the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You believe in the Nigerian Project. For that, we remain eternally grateful." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/19/ill-never-support-breakup-nigeria-wike/

The Nigerian government warned that the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB) was using fake videos to deceive the International community. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said that the group was using fake videos of mass killings, harvested from other parts of Africa and doctored to look recent to mislead the international community and gain their support. Mohammed made these statements while adressing Online Publishers in Lagos on Monday. He said; "We must warn the nation against IPOB’s next line of action, which is to externalise their lies and propaganda. Now they are writing to the governments and national parliaments of some Western nations, to give the impression that they are victims of an ethno-sectarian violence orchestrated by the government, hence they need protection. Some of the tools that have been employed by IPOB include blatant lies and cheap propaganda, and the medium of choice for the organisation is social media. IPOB has harvested gory videos and pictures from other lands and the distant past, which they are now circulating via social media, to deceive the international community into believing that the people of the South East are being subjected to state-sponsored, ethnoreligious violence. Such videos, which have very high emotive quotient, are circulating on social media as we speak. These videos are doctored to make them look current. They are fake!" he said. Alhaji Mohammed said some ill-informed foreigners are already alleging genocide adding: "It is either they do not understand the meaning of genocide or are being mischievous. “Either way, there is nothing like genocide anywhere in our country today. What we have in the South East is a clampdown on a band of lawless people who have no regard for the laws of the land." He appealed to Online Publishers to help change the narrative on social media. He said; "In the interest of the nation and your own interest, you must counter this fake narrative, report the issues responsibly and without sensationalism and present the truth to the public. If the social media, your platform, is discredited because of the activities of quacks and internet trollers, you, too, will be discredited and your publications will simply go down. That is why you must distinguish yourselves, as trained and tested professionals, from the charlatans who have seized the social media by the jugular, those who have no regard for the truth and who do not care whether their fake posts set the nation ablaze," http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/19/ipob-using-fake-videos-deceive-international-community-fg/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has reacted to a recent report on the Nigerian army's plan to launch military operations in the south-west and the South-South. Omokri, in a social media post on Sunday, questioned why military operations were being launched in 'places where nobody has been killed'. He wrote; Is it right of the Army to warn SouthSouth and Southwest that Operation Crocodile Smile is coming to them. Is the South conquered territory? Why are operations going on in places where nobody has been killed? What operation is being done in Ancha village where many have been killed by herdsmen? What operation was done against the Arewa Youths that issued the Quit Notice? Instead of the Nigerian Army to bring Operation Crocodile Smile to the SouthSouth and Southwest, they should take Operation Help Flood Victims to Benue! http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/17/south-conquered-terrirtory-reno-omokri-army-operations-sssw/ cc: lalasticlala, mynd44

Acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has blamed the high level of corruption in Nigeria as the bane behind the agitation for Biafra. Magu revealed that the agitation from the Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu could have been averted if the Federal Government could checkmate corruption activities in the country, thereby creating a better living for them. "We are almost there. We are succeeding. We have reached a level nobody can stop us. Nobody can stop us,” he said at the parley. Every evil thing happening in Nigeria is caused by corruption, agitation, whatever, the root is corruption. I am telling you the primary thing is political goodwill. If the leader is committed to fighting corruption, nothing can stop us. All these boys and girls crossing the Mediterranean to go to Europe is because of corruption. What we are saying is, let us do the right thing. We should insist the right thing should be done. We all have a duty to. We are all anointed by God to fight corruption. There are strikes here and there caused by corruption. If there is corruption in the EFCC expose it. If I am corrupt expose me. I can’t be corrupt and be fighting corruption." http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/13/corruption-behind-agitation-biafra-magu/ Cc: lalasticlala, mynd44 |
