I am going for a graduate certificate program at Fanshawe college and I have already submitted my study permit application but I didn't upload my Transcript on my IRCC portal, should I create a web form, attach the Transcript and submit. How important is the transcript to my application? I only submitted my University Certificate. I have a second class lower division 3.2 on a 5.0 scale and it is written at the last page of my transcript. I don't want it to be a red flag on my application if the visa officer should go through it. Should I just ignore uploading it and just wait for their final decision?

Don't overthink it you have not done anything wrong Since Fanshawe College has already admitted you, the admissions office has already assessed your academic qualifications. That means the visa officer often places significant weight on the fact that in your case Fanshawe college accepted you

People submit both the degree certificate and transcript, but there are also successful People who submit only the degree certificate because in your case Fanshawe college has already verified their academic credentials...

Do not submit a web form to update your documents because this is not new information that changed beyond your control before you submitted your application

I have seen 2 of your response to this guy and I wonder why you’re egging him on the wrong part. He does not have the requirements for a Masters program having graduated with a CGPA of about 2.75 over 5.0.

The circled part of the requirements you posted form MUN clearly states that you should have at least 75% which is equivalent to 3.75 over 5.0 in Nigeria.

Please be straightforward with this guy. He should apply for a postgraduate diploma first because that is what his grade can carry.

A few people, though very rarely, with a 2.2 and strong work experience have been admitted into course-based master's programs (not thesis-based master's programs). It's possible, but it's difficult. That's why the requirement says applicants shall normally hold a minimum of a Second Class Upper (or have at least a 75% overall average).

The phrase "shall normally hold" means that's the standard requirement, but exceptions can sometimes be made. As I said in my earlier post, it's about 50/50, but I understand it's hard.

I also completed a course-based master's even tho I got a 2.1, and I have met just 1 person with a 2.2 who was admitted to masters program.....put in mind it was a course-based master's programs (not thesis-based master's programs). That person had very strong work experience.

So, I agree with you it's probably better to go with the postgraduate diploma to be on the safe side.

Nice! You are on the right track by doing your own personal research I also have one of the certifications you mentioned, plus another one that you didn't mention.

Yes, the course and program are very good, and Memorial University is also an excellent school, especially in terms of affordability. The only challenge is the admission requirement.

Applicants are normally expected to hold a minimum Second-Class Upper degree (or at least a 75% overall average). It's still possible to gain admission if you package your application well, but I would say your chances are about 50/50.

If you really want a masters program which with your result its going to be hard What some people do, if you have the financial means, is to apply to two schools one university and one college.

As we all know, colleges usually process applications and offer admission much faster. So, if you are willing to take a chance,

If you can, apply to two schools. Submit your university application for the earliest available intake eg (Winter – January), and then apply to a college for the following intake (Summer – May) as a backup.

This gives you a chance to secure university admission while still having a college (Post graduate diploma) option if things don't work out.

That way, you can try your luck with the university while still having a good chance of receiving a college admission quickly if that doesnt work

It depends on what you want but IMO if you already have a bachelor's degree, you should consider applying for a master's program. The reason is that master's and PhD students are not subject to the current study permit cap, so the probability of getting a visa is generally higher if all other things are good and in place... but do not rule out diploma

With a Second Class Upper, it is definitely possible to gain admission into a master's program. However, you may need to search a bit more than the average 2:1 applicant.

If you package your application well by highlighting your work experience and any relevant certifications even something as small as MS Azure Fundamentals you can improve your chances highly

Some universities also place more emphasis on your performance during the last two years of your undergraduate degree, along with your work experience, when assessing applications

College is always a good option, but I also want you to keep this in mind. If you apply to both a college (for a postgraduate diploma) and a university (for a master's degree), the college will usually issue an admission offer much faster Many people end up accepting the first offer they receive because the school encourages them to pay the tuition deposit quickly

A Master's in Computer Science is highly competitive. It may be better to focus on course-based master's programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Applied computing or Information Systems. In my opinion, course-based programs are the best route in your case.

A master's degree can also give you more points in the long run if you eventually apply for permanent residence, so it's something worth considering... and trust me you will want all the points when the time comes

Do not be discouraged Many people with a Second Class Upper have successfully gained admission into master's programs, so it is absolutely possible. To maximize your chances if I was in your shoe, I would focus on course based Masters programs.

Hey everyone, I could really use some help.

I submitted my passport for visa stamping, and it was processed and returned to the VFS office in Lagos. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to return and collect my passport within the required timeframe.

When I eventually went to pick it up, I was informed that it had been sent back to the IRCC office because it had remained uncollected for more than 30 days. I honestly wasn't aware that there was a collection deadline.

I visited the IRCC office in Lagos, and the security personnel advised me to either send an email to the designated address or submit a request through the IRCC web form regarding passport collection. I have done both, but it has now been over a month and I have not received any response.

I'm feeling quite frustrated and unsure of what to do next. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on how I can get this resolved?

I would appreciate some guidance regarding my Canadian study permit POF.
I recently received admission into a 2-year MSc program and have already paid the required CAD $2k tuition deposit to secure my admission.

Here is my financial situation:
- Total academic expenses each year is CAD $27,000 per year.
- university offered me funding totaling CAD $22,000 per year (44k for both years)
- my co-supervisor has approved a one-time funding grant of CAD $10,000 and I am currently requesting an official letter for this funding.
- Based on the above, my tuition and academic expenses for the entire program are covered by the confirmed funding. (Recieving: 54k. 2years tuition= 54k)

For living expenses, I am self-funding.
Over the past few years, I have built a dedicated savings account containing approximately 20m (20k CAD). The account has a consistent savings history and very few withdrawals because it was specifically maintained for my study plans. My day-to-day expenses are paid from a separate salary account and parent because they want me to save aggressively.

My concern is this:
Since my tuition is already covered do I still need to demonstrate proof of living expenses for the entire 2-year duration of the program (roughly CAD $45k), especially considering that I will no longer be earning my current salary after relocating?
Or would it be reasonable to apply with my available savings of about 20m (20k cad), together with the university funding and supporting documents?

I would appreciate insights from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has experience with Canadian study permit applications. I'm I safe? What are my chances? What do I do to convince the VO better in the his situation

If the funding letters are official and clearly state the amounts, and your CAD $20,000 savings are well documented, I would not be overly concerned about proving the full CAD $45,000 of living expenses for both years upfront. Your focus should be on demonstrating that

(1) The program is genuinely funded.... which you will need to get that official letter from the department signed by the school and supervisor

(2) You have enough money available to say that's the one time $10,000 CAD funding official letter and the 20 million naira you have saved up support yourself.

Your financial story is logical and consistent

The supervisor's funding letter is valuable because it further demonstrates ongoing institutional support and reduces concerns about your financial capacity during your studies. + your 20 million naira

IRCC is referring to situations where applicants submit incorrect or incomplete documents and later try to replace or update them. IRCC generally discourages repeatedly sending unsolicited updates in those cases.

In this situation, we are talking about another proof of payment for school fees. Once the payment is made, any official confirmation of payment is acceptable. I am also quite very sure IRCC will contact the school directly to verify whether the payment was actually made...

So in her case, she made the payment, submitted all available documents, and applied for Visa using the Flywire official payment receipt. If she later receives an official receipt from her school a few days after applying for the visa she can still upload it via webform, that should not be a problem.... context matters

If you do not have a skill, the proper route is to apply directly to legitimate companies. After a successful interview, the company provide you with an employment offer and, will assist with the process for a closed work permit.

Please be very careful. This advice applies to any country. Desperation can make people vulnerable to scams and exploitation. Always verify employers, job offers, and immigration processes through official channels before making any commitments...

This is becasue my school said it may take as much as 7 working days to confirm payment and issue a school reviept and I can't afford to wait.

Don't worry or overthink the situation. If you have made the payment with any method you go with and are sure it was successful, simply provide evidence of the payment to IRCC.

IRCC can always contact the school to verify that the payment was received If need be.. and you can always update your application via webform if need be at anytime Therefore, you can make the payment and then proceed to submit your visa application as you plan.

When in Canada when the time comes, that foreign work experience can earn you up to 50 CRS points, so when the time comes, you will be able to claim those points

Whichever you choose September or January is entirely up to you. But if it were left to me, I would choose the September intake.

Fanshawe College already assessed your credentials and issued a Letter of Acceptance but Its nice to also submitted all documents to IRCC..

I initially wanted to start at Fall (Sept) 2027 simply because I wanted to clock work anniversary at my place of work next March but I am not keen anymore on waiting for a whole year plus. So I want to bring it forward to Winter (Jan) 2027. I am fully self-funded. I intend to pay the full 2 year tuition upfront and do a GIC for the max possible sum and present both as part of my visa application docs including other savings in USD. So it is not a funding issue per say.

Is there any advantage starting school in Sept (Fall) has over Jan (Winter) besides entering into tough Jan winter season in Canada? Considering moving my school application forward from Sept 2027 to Jan 2027 in Manitoba. I know most international students seem to prefer to start classes in Fall.

Anyone is fine, but if you were my brother or a close friend, I would advise you to resume in September, mainly because of the weather.

IMO you need time to get your body to that winter weather coming in Septerber will do that

if you have specific reasons for wanting to move in January, explain them and we can see whether it still makes sense in your situation...Maybe you need more time to save up for school or something like that....

It is much better to arrive in Manitoba in September when daytime temperatures average 15°C to 19°C and nighttime temperatures drop to a cool 4°C to 8°C, than to arrive in January when average daytime highs range from -11°C to -14°C and overnight temperatures can fall to -21°C to -24°C.

Coming from Nigeria to Manitoba in those January temperatures can be a very difficult adjustment, and you may end up regretting arriving in the middle of winter.

Both of you have a very good average Nigerian profiles and study visa still remain the fastest type of visa you can use to enter Canada and do almost all the stuffs Canadian citizens do ie opening bank account, driving , work-study etc providing you are maintaining your studentship.

If your Msc cgpa is in good standing you should be the one to apply but i will recommend Phd. Your career as a Nigerian senior civil servant is a good omen especially if you have been working on the path of your course f study. If otherwise, your husband as an engineer is good to apply but let it be in STEM program.

Yes, Wondychiqe STEM is good for your husband, but the last time the government specifically selected STEM in Express Entry was in 2024. Since then, STEM draws have only been held a few times since Express Entry began in 2015... I think like 3 times so that's a bad gamble

From where you are now, I would strongly suggest looking into healthcare-related programs like:

Medical Laboratory Technologist
Medical Laboratory Technician
Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Science

These are all within healthcare, and they generally lead to strong job opportunities after graduation if you plan properly.

Ultimately, you can assess your own situation better than anyone else, but the key thing to keep in mind is this: if you are coming to Canada, try to choose an in-demand program that leads to an in-demand occupation. That way, you improve your chances of qualifying for Express Entry or other immigration pathways.

If this were about three months ago, I would have strongly encouraged a master’s program, which is still a very solid option. In Ontario specifically, one advantage used to be the Ontario Master’s Graduate stream under the PNP, but that stream was discontinued recently. It had been around even before I came to Canada in 2017, so it’s been a major change.

A lot is changing right now, and that’s why it’s risky to choose a program based only on assumptions that the same immigration pathways will still be available when you graduate. Policies can change significantly within two years.

it’s best to focus on programs linked to occupations that are currently in demand, and also pay attention to how often the government conducts Express Entry draws for those occupations through category-based selection.

No one can predict the future, but if the current government is in power for the next few years, there is a strong focus on priority occupations in healthcare and other in-demand fields.

Another useful step is to estimate your future CRS score realistically. Who is sponsoring you
Why they are sponsoring you
How they are able to sponsor you
Their source of income (business, employment, etc.)
References to supporting documents they have provided, such as an employment letter, tax documents, bank statements, or business records

This thread has been abused. When I get to Canada on the 22nd Aug, I will create a thread on my personal process from when I got my International passport to when I landed in Canada.

Hints:

1. My International Passport took 5 business days (both capturing and everything) First timer.
2. I applied to schools in Canada some gave me offer in less that 3 days.
3. My study permit took 4 weeks and 6 days to get approved. Applied May got approved June.

I will be sharing my story (the documents I submitted) with evidence once I land Toronto.

PS: This is my first time applying to Canada. I do not have any travel history.

PPS: I did it all alone without a travel agent. Even when my school wanted to give me their immigration lawyer to assist in my study permit application I opted out.

PPS: Reason I don't use agents is because, apart from the fact that a lot of them are scammers, some of them do mistakenly mix applicants documents when submitting because they do not deal with just one application.

I learnt from Cubana Chief Priest who till his death cannot enter USA because of the messed an agent made on his application.

Back then, you would always see PPR stories and timelines almost weekly and people would share what they did to get approved, what dates they applied and what dates they received updates, what documents they submitted. This thread was very informative.

Today, there’s no PPR stories anymore, i scrolled as far back as i could and found nothing. There’s no valuable information anymore. Someone even claimed that I do not live in Canada, and that even if I do, I am unemployed. You can see how people make up stories to push a certain narrative.

This is the same forum where someone paid ₦20,000 to join a Telegram group that promised to teach him how to relocate to Canada with only ₦10 million. He ended up getting scammed, and I explained why it was never realistic in the first place.

I also stated that someone who completed a program that does not qualify for a PGWP cannot simply obtain a PGWP. In that situation, they would need to return to school and enroll in a qualifying program. If finances are a challenge, returning to Nigeria may be the only realistic option because most other pathways are not available in that case. People became offended by the truth.

I have contributed to this group for 9 years. Many people have returned with success stories after receiving advice from me. I will not allow accounts that were created 3 or 4 days ago to insult me or spread lies about me.

I have always believed that when someone publicly attacks your reputation, you have the right to defend yourself. That is why I respond. Otherwise, I would simply ignore it. However, the truth must be told.

You opened an account less than two days ago, on June 13, 2026, and immediately started attacking me, calling me a scammer and claiming I don’t live in Canada, while I am a Canadian citizen, a homeowner, and also an investment property owner, yet you are making all sorts of accusations. Hahaha.

What exactly did I say that triggered a grown adult to create a brand-new account just to come after me?

I have been on this forum for almost 10 years. In all that time, no one has ever been able to attach the word “scammer” to my name. Yet an account created two days ago now wants to “expose” me.
